Eko Ile:Unintelligent, yet they have one vote just like everyother Nigerian!! That is the part your seeming fatigued brain fails to grasp!! INEC didn't register intelligent people, they registered everybody, be they intelligent or dull!! And interestingly, most voters are not highly intelligent! So they love simple things! Sophistication and all the talk of budget implementation, macro economics, Foreign reserves and the like are all latin and rocket science to the average Nigerian voter. Its simple things like humility, simplicity and a charming smile that would win the votes!!! Thats what GEJ gave to them and boy. . . .it worked real good!!! And dude, about intelligence, you don't stand a chance with most GEJ supporters even here on NL. . . . . so quit it!! |
How come the crowds in that Kwara Picture is not like all those core Northern states This Kwara crowd is less than 1000 folks!! Even ACPNs, Bukola Saraki pulls larger crowds than this!! Buhari is a Core Northern phenomenom!! My advice to him is the become the chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum! |
GEJ was excellent last nite!! The feelers coming from the masses is most of whom loved his simplicity!!! |
From feelers I'm getting, this debate was very well received by Nigerians!! His key selling point; His simplicity is charming!! Nigerians are easily sold out on stuff like this. They feel the man is soo humble. You need to hear what folks are saying in Nigerian Beer parlours right now!! |
I'm an ordinary Nigerian!!! I am Good Luck Jonathan!! Excellent closing statement!!! |
Everywhere from Kontagora to Asaba, Yola to Aba, Akure to Uyo, the TV and radio sets are on and they masses see a simple, humble and charming president reeling out his simple & basic plans to give them a better life!! The masses would love him for his simplicity! Buhari, Ribadu and Shekarau made a huge mistake by sitting out on this one!!! They missed out on a great opportunity to tell Nigerians their plans! Their absense has made Goodluck Jonathan look sooo good!! |
His simplicity is charming!! hmmm!! No wonder Nigerians love him!! |
Ibime:Hehehe!! Ibime, trust me, I know what I'm talking about!! Every station in Nigeria is showing this debate and most of the crude folks driving Okadas, carrying cements and the like have a different criteria for assessment!! They would love this guys simplicity!! Trust me!! I relate with regular folks on a daily!! Make we forget all the big grammar! E no dey work!! All that grammar when Utomi speak yesterday na for professors dem!! |
The masses would love this guys simplicity!! His simplicity is charming!! |
This man would have done excellently in the NN24 debate! He had no reason to sit it out!! |
His simplicity and seeming humility would win him votes amongst the masses!! The opposition made a huge mistake sitting this one out!! |
This man is much more impressive than I thought !! Surely better than Buhari and Ribadu but not anywhere near Shekarau!! After all the talk on the internet, I was thinking he probably can't even speak English!! The guy is not bad at all!! |
In all of these, I sympathise with three sets of people: 1) Innocent youth corpers posted to the north who might be lynched for the simple fact that they are not of Hausa stock. During the last Delta state elections, when election materials failed to arrive early, many of the voters started shouting hard at the youth corpers who had no hand in the delay of election materials. Now imagine an igbo lady corper posted to A polling unit in zamfara state and for some reason, the voters in the polling unit decide they don't like her attitude. Many, most of whom are blood thirsty illiterates would remember Buhari's lynch call and descend viciously on such a corper!! 2)Second group of persons I sympathise with is those Non Hausa that live in Northern Nigeria!! After GEJ has been declared winner, my prayer is that the violence would be contained and wouldn't amount to unneccesary bloodshed! 3)The folks I pity for most are those that would shout BB all the way and come April 9th vote BB all the way but would be mobbed and killed mercilessly by the Sai Buhari chanters for the simple reason that you are from a different religion!! |
^^^^ Ok, my bad! Tot U waz being agressive like most other folks here on NL!! Sowee!! |
^^^^^^ Solomon, this thread is non partisan!! Would be cool to stop the spamming. Lets at least have one thread here on Nairaland where both Buhari, Ribadu and GEJ candidates can discuss the elctions freely without resulting to sentiments. |
timbuk two:The timing is late!! These are things they should have done long before the elections. Nigeria isa large with majority of the voters having very little access to media communcation. One week is too short a time to communicate to rural voters in the south west that their candidates have changed. Anyway, one thing I am glad for is the fact that for the first time in our democracy PDP may not have a majority in the senate/House so they would have no choice but to perform excellently. Jonathan will win the elections and I'm glad to be voting for him. But I must commend Buhari for giving the PDP a good run for the money. After this elections they will never joke with governance!! |
GenBuhari:Why not make your own speculations intelligently also so that everybody can benefit!! Its good to be emotional, but smart people try to detach emotions from practical analysis so as to avoid beclouding their judgement. |
timbuk two:True!! But that is only if Goodluck Jonathan gets no vote in the South West and North Central. Interesting Buhari will lose because he failed to outperform Jonathan in these two areas. I know how muslims spread their message. Its through the mosques and transistor radios. And that is why he has the bulk of the muslims voting him in the Core North. In the south west however, majority of muslims are liberal and hardly go to the mosque. |
kayoday:I agree with you on the bolded!! That's what keeps me wondering why Buhari has chosen to focus his campaign strictly in the north. Instead of wasting money holding rallies in areas you are so sure of victory, wisdom demands that you go to areas where the PDP doesn't exactly have a very strong showing. Places like Kogi, Kwara and many parts of the south west could easily have voted Buhari if he constantly pumped the space there with his campaign. All this moving from North West to North East would not help the man get votes!! It doesn't cost too much money to rent the airwaves of a local radio or TV station in states where you could grow your margins!!! |
Where is Lagos, Aba, Warri, Benin, Lokoja, Onitsha, Calabar, Akure and the likes in Buhari's rallies?? How come all we see is Kebbi, Sokoto, Kano, Maiduguri, Gome and the likes?? Buhari will make a good Northern Nigeria president!! But the 2011 election is a National election!! He cannot win this election in the core north alone!! He needs the south west and at least some of the rest of the south!! |
Only read through it once. But it looks like a pretty good plan. Not perfect, but pretty good. Certainly better than what I've seen from the other major candidates.
The exact reason why I'm voting GEJ. This power road map should not be tampered with. It is about the only road out of darkness for this country. Solving power would transform this country. The resultant effect on our economy and job creation would be crazy!! I admire Buhari's quest for discipline and anti corruption. But I think ending our power problem might be more favourable than fighting corruption at this point in our history. Corruption has become cultural so it would take more than a president sending goons on politicians to erase the anomaly! The corruption inherent in the citizenry is worse off than that of the politicians. My prayer is that the will to execute this power plan would continue because I must confess, I think lethargy has started setting in!! |
@Aletheia What seven states do you project a Ribadu victory ![]() |
ode remo:Mine is a suggestion, his is an insultive attack!! Big difference! |
Blazay:Na Poverty mentality be this naaa!!! I pity you oooh my broda!! ![]() With this kind of thinking, you probably would never get wealthy!! Renew your mind broda!! |
efisher, Aletheia and DanJohn!! Wonderful job you guys are doing!! I'm following!! |
redsun:Why do humans have to be this agressive I wonder what kind of food some folks eat or what kind of bed they sleep on!! Is this how you act in real life?? Someone makes a contribution based on his perceptions and you just go all agressive?? Dude, meeeehn, don't you think you need a chill pill or a sedative or something else to make U feel better?? |
aisha2:Thank you!! Sometimes people forget that along with freedom comes responsibility. That we have freedom of speech doesn't mean that we lose our beautiful culture of respect for one another talkless of respect for the most senior office in the land!! |
Seun:True!! I'm not a fan of total monopolies. My pitch however is against the idea that Nigerians should have maximum control of the industry!! If we don't have the discipline and expertise to run the power sector, I see nothing wrong with opening it up for 100% foreign domination. But monopolies, no!! |
Horus:80% of Nigeria's telecom industry is in the hands of Foreigners and we are 10 million times better off than when 100% of the industry was in the hands of Nigerians. I would rather have the foreigners handle it and give us excellent service than leave it to incompetent Nigerians!! |
Ikengawo:Oh Please!!! Nigeria is not America!!! If you think he should do just as Obama did, sorry, this is Nigeria where rural folks constitute 70% of the voters. Great speeches and Sunday talk shows don't cut it here!! |
apoti:So PDP is responsible for the poverty that is existent everywhere in Africa and the rest of the third world abi These kind of thinking meeehn!!!Big Question: What have you done in your own sphere of influence to make the country a better place to live in?? We keep talking about bad leadership, yet we are worse of than those in position of authority!! |
PDP understands Nigeria well well. These bags of rice as we speak are being distributed in rural areas which constitute about 70% of registered voters which comes to about 50 million. Rural voters don't read newspapers neither do they have access to the internet hence cannot understand the fact that PDP is a non performance party. These ruralites have a very different criteria for selecting candidates. They don't know the meaning of corruption, neither do they care for infrastructure development, nor do they understand how to assess good governance. Their choice of candidate is usually based on the politicians that visit them just before elections to distribute cash and kind. Bags of rice, Tshirts, and umbrellas are springing up in villages across the country and these villagers are happily going to vote for Umbrella come April 9TH. The last Delta state elections taught me this about PDP. They don't care for urban voters. Their focus is usually the grassroots. And men, those grassroot folks are easy to buy!! |
