Demdem: It's unfortunate. With or without Assad, killings will continue. His greed to force himself Ib his people to me is the root cause. Surely he must go. I forsee a very bleak future for this country.
Yes Assad should go. But why is the west always only concerned about unfriendly Arab/Muslim sit tight leaders. When are the going to help Africa get rid of the Campaores, Biyas, Mugabes, Musevenis e.t.c.

The answer is never because these African dictators are friendly to them. Why does the west support revolution in Syria but not in Bahrain? Why do they help get rid of a dictator in Libya but help keep the one in Yemen in power?

vanitty: It is the responsibility of the government to ensure its road is safe what we cannot do is try to guilt-trip the organisations into taking on the responsibilities of the government just because they are religious organisations.

@ Papillo, just listen to yourself and that is my bugbear about the whole situation, other sensible government plan ahead, no contract WILL be signed until all the terms and conditions are satisfied, our own government just leave everything to chance and see how it goes syndrome!! and when it hits the fan, shift the blame. Why give them planning permission and then lament afterwards.
Other organisations are still been given permission TILL DATE to build in already congested areas, common sense prevailing, aren't their any lessons learnt from that expressway!! 10 years from now, we will be blaming the organisations NOT the government and we expect Nigeria to be better, it is well!

Until the government are held into account and everyone speaks with a voice be you Muslim, Christian, Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba nothing i mean nothing will change, let us all they siddon dey look

Overall responsibility belongs to the government.
I agree with you 100%. The only thing to add is that the representatives of government that have allowed these people to perpetuate this rot didnt do it for free. Palms must have been greased.
I am not saying that the US is better than Nigeria per see but when you Guys preach to us to come home, this is what we have to come home to.

I have been stuck in this mess twice and it was not funny.

Can you just imagine the loss of productivity, time and money lost to his shenanegan?

Nigeria, which way forward?

Solution?:

Turn the road from Lagos to that location to at least a 5 lane highway and bill the chursh for the cost of providing as many police officers as necessary during this time to direct traffic and create orderliness.

It's simple really and I bet if the Governor or some Senator wanted to pass through that gridlock the traficc will clear like Moses and the Red Sea.
I donk know what obtains in the US but here in the UK you will hardly find anything situated right on the motorway. Even if it is situated in close proximity to the motorway it will only back up onto the motorway and you will have to take a slip road and still travel many miles before getting to an entrance. On Lagos - Ibadan, the entrance to Redemption camp is right there on the expressway!

Ola one: No sane nation will allow it. Imagine the stress and depression these places of worship cause Nigerians every weekend.

Something needs to be done.
My hatred for these miracle peddlers is borne out of a personal experience. At my wedding, there was no entertainment for half the event because the barstewards were having one of their fraudulent events and my musician got caught up in the traffic. Many guests also turned back and went home after sitting in traffic for hours.

vanitty: Crap, please take religion out of this. Useless government we have.

Any time there is a football match, concert or whatever happening lets say for example at Wembley park or race or whatever they dream up, the TFL takes responsibility and ensure there are plans put in place.
Will you tell Rihanna, Chelsea or whoever to arrange alternative transport for their fans!
Please dont talk about what you dont know. Do you know how much was set aside by Arsenal for the improvement of Highbury & Islington station when they were building Emirates stadium? Do you know that the Emirates stadium capacity is set at just over 60,000 because thats the number Transport chiefs agreed. Arsenal have a 40,000 season ticket waiting list and would conveniently fill up an 80,000 seater stadium but planning regs prevented them from building a stadium as large as they would have loved. These miracle peddlers on the expressway just build as they wish.

Just use Google and you'll find that AEG owners of The O2 contributed to the improvements at North Greenwich station. The developers of the area around Battersea Power station (SP Setia and Sime Darby) and the proposed new US embassy will provide significant funding for the Northern line extension to Battersea if the development is given the go ahead. Harrods contributed to redevelopment of Knightsbridge station and other examples abound. What has redeemed ever contributed to help improve Lagos Ibadan expressway apart from some dirt tracks off the expressway leading to car parks in the bush?

naptu2: Even in Lagos, Bicourtney has been refused planning permission to convert the old Federal Secretariat into luxury flats and UAC were issued several "stop work" orders when they were renovating 1004, because the government was concerned about the effect the estate would have on the surrounding area.
Good. So why was the same not done for the churches on the express road? You dont necessarily have to refuse planning permission but they can be told to build a 100,000 seater auditorium instead of a 1 million seater, asked to construct roads as part of their development e.t.c

Ola one: I wonder oo.

Winners Chapel was chased out of Bermondsey by Council officials. Well, that na Obodo Oyinbo undecided
KICC attempted to set up shop in Dagenham, Essex just off the A13 on Thames Gateway land after they were sent packing from Stratford. Them pursue them quick. The local complained about effects on their lives and they were refused planning permission. Now they are based in the middle of nowhere in Chatham where they cant disrupt peoples lives.

In countries where things are done with sense, if your proposed business, new housing development, place of worship e.t.c is going to affect the lives of the local population, the developer is compelled to contribute a significant amount to the improvement of transport links, health centres e.t.c

For example, In Shepherds Bush, London, Westfield invested £200 million out of a total £1.7 billion project cost on transport improvements in the local area delivering a brand new Tube and Overground station.

The price of the bag Winfrey wntd to purchase was too exorbitant (equivalent to the price of a car). so the salesgirl ws only tryin to advise her as a client to go for a cheap affordable commodity because she nvr knew that Winfrey is a moneybag. so it is foolhardy for anyone to translate wht happened in zurich as racism.
You and the mumu that thanked you are illiterates. The "salesgirl" as you aptly call her is just that... A sales person. She is not employed to fortune tell who can buy what or what a customer can afford. Her job is to sell and she refused to sell to Oprah. Why? Because of prejudice.

I was in Spain last week and I went into a FC Barcelona store with my young family to buy a football shirt for my son. The security guard started following us around and at one point was telling the store manager something and pointing at us. I became so nervous and upset as I was with my kids and hadnt had that kind if thing happen to me in a long time.

I just quickly paid for the one shirt my son had tried for size and hurriedly left the store.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Age Requirement Is Unconstitutional by pappilo(m): 11:07am On Aug 05, 2013
lagerwhenindoubt: There are valid reasons for placing limits on job eligibility based on AGE. it is mostly a HR decision but there are some guiding principles

1: In a competitive work-place, you expect the young employees to aspire to positions at the Top-Level. It is a career incentive and a people-centric HR strategy. This way you maximize your human capital to an age range where the employee can dis-engaged and enter similar high-placed positions in other endeavors. You cannot have that much of a career plan at Age 30-40 applying for an entry-level job.

2: In most organizations (especially Financial Institutions), you are a Manager after 8-10 years work experience .. that is like 25-35 years of age. You cannot have a 35-40 year old man working under you and expect to drive him as you do other in-experienced hands under you. He may flare-up and start asking you how old you are, or can't you at least respect his grey hairs. such terse workplace situations are to be avoided. It is sad, but the economy does not favor older persons in place of younger ones especially when work demands you look up to one young brash manager.

3: Health Insurance is also a factor, Young means less likely to have ailments that affect us as we get older say from 30+ and above. It is a period where you can still instill some healthy habits and pay less on BUPA and other Health insurance schemes.
This has to be one of the dumbest posts I have seen on here in a long time. Of course every organisation has a valid reason for discriminatory practises but that doesnt make it okay/legal. A company presenting itself as a provider of services to affluent people in an expensive part of Lagos has a valid reason for not employing someone with large Ibadan tribal facial marks as its spokesperson or receptionist even if they meet all the required employment criteria. Should this be allowed by law? Hell NO!

Defamation is a civil matter so I cNt understand why the police got involved or are charging the man to court. Fraudster Offor's lawyer should have sued Mr Bonny to court and await their day in court. Involving the police shows a gross abuse of power and must be condemned!
