Nairaland GeneralRe: What Was The Biggest Challenge You Overcame This Year? by placeofallure(f): 3:50am On Nov 23, 2023
I'm first thankful to God for life. The year has been filled with testimonies. I started with a project I ordinarily wouldn't think of because it's highly capital intensive - They'd say dream big, but this one dem no born me! To God, I was able to start because an unsolicited help just came from the blues.

Then I got over worrying endlessly about resources for daily living. I got other sources of income, time consuming but worth every second I put out.

It's not about sidelining the Igbos, it's about the consequences of doing that.

Simpleton!

The truth is that, we don't need any Emeka or chiamaka to point any ancestral home in lagos before any reasonable person will believe that, Igbos are part and parcel of lagos. Onye eririeri dika gi.

In fact, no truthful person can tell the history of lagos without mentioning how Igbos contributed positively to the growth of lagos. But nobody can say that yorubas contributed positively to the growth and development of anywhere in SE that is the fact.

Secondly, you know you are lying when you said that yorubas don't want "one Nigeria" because, we all know the role you lots use to play anytime the issue of biafra is raised. And we all saw how yrobas jubilated in 1970 after the war, when it was announced that Igbos has surrendered to nigeria.

And let me remind you that, Igbos in lagos are in Nigeria, after all you joined in the fight that brought Igbos back in Nigeria when they seceded from Nigeria. So, you wanting respect and honour from Igbos in lagos, because you think they are in your land is not going to happen.

Lastly, skull mining is who you lots are. Don't say is few unscrupulous elements that indulge in it, that's a lie and you know it.
The unknown gunmen you mentioned is the handiwork of Nigerian government and their security agents (which you are one of the gun-welding demon they employed) baby factory, is also in your region. The otokoto ritual killers you mentioned, dey learn work from ogun skull miners. While the drug traffickers and Mmesoma dey learn work from tienibu grin grin grin

So you see, wetin dey sokoto also dey shokoto.
Nigeria and mostly the SW are now paying heavily for sidelining Igbos.

Onye iberibe nwuru anwu!

Everyone dey japa go which land? Are the yorubas the rightful owners of lagos? As far as yorubas want one Nigeria more than their lives, Igbos and every other tribe has the right to be anywhere they want in Nigeria.
From the way you reason, I don't need a soothsayer to know that you feed from skull mining.

Olodo!
Nincompoop!

Yes to your question whether Yorubas are the real owners of Lagos. Let one Emeka or Chiamaka point to his ancestral home in Lagos. Ọmọ a t'oko wa b'ale jẹ.

Point of correction, we don't want One Nigeria more than anyone else. Infact, Ẹ n d'oru mọ wa! If you all carry your eriibu away from Lagos, it's good riddance to bad rubbish!

Yes, you and the rest of your moronic kinsmen developers are free to stay in our cosmopolitan Lagos provided you are of good behaviour. We have our brothers in your now war-torn enclaves; but our brothers are well behaved and don't Lord things over their hosts because we are Ọmọluabis.

Skull mining? Maybe just a few unscrupulous elements. In your side of the divide, what have we not seen? Unknown gunmen (you are one of the gun-trotting demons I'm sure) baby factory, otokoto ritual killers, kidnappers, drug traffickers, Fraudsters (Mmesoma is still fresh in our memories) Okpos dem plenty, senseless politicians ( That's why you keep getting sidelined) Make I talk more?

You dont reject old peoples gift in Africa.
Exactly!

I once cautioned my mum about doing that. Somebody gave her some money but she wanted to reject because she felt she has more than the person. I just quickly told her she shouldn't. You're richer than him but you would have succeeded in bruising his ego about his state. You can look for another way, another circumstance to gift the man back, even more than he has done.

It's not about it being local or little. The Bread was gotten from Market Square super market. I just find it awkward giving bread to your son-in-law to be on the first meeting.

Gifts are symbolic you know.
You're still arguing...I doubt this one is ready for marriage. You don't seem like somebody that will be able to manage a home. People are saying here that you shouldn't have rejected the gift, you are looking for a thousand and one reasons to justify your action. I join my voice with others, it's insensitive of you to reject the gift no matter how incredulous it seems. Courtesy demands that you accept first before finding faults.
Ẹgba mi, what's even wrong with giving somebody bread? The gift wey you carry go there too no get aroma. What is juice? What is biscuit? In-laws be small pikin? You no see Ankara or lace material, you no see bag of rice? Proudness oshi for nothing!

I seriously hope SMEDAN will wake up to this challenge and address the issues of financing and guiding Small and Medium Scale Enterprise. The young man wanted the best for himself and also those around him. It is so unfortunate that a vibrant young man lost his life.

Secondly, the depression issues or mental health is so much relegated to the background in this part of the world. People are going through alot. The funny but not funny part is, the person who you may disclose your problems to may be having a more severe issue he or she is trying to deal with and as such may not be able to help out. Crime has also taken center stage bringing about distrust among people. Someone may have the capacity to help but may be thinking if you're trying to scam or use them to get money.

Mental health advocacy and campaign should not be handled with kids gloves in Nigeria. It has been overlooked for too long. People are going through alot.

Let us all try as much as possible and as much as we can to be a brother's keeper.

May God console the family.
People are truly going through a lot. A colleague was lamenting last week. Then I told him that I don't believe any earthly power or government can solve my problem. I believe and trust in God to always suffice but he was hell bent on arguing about how Obi should have been president instead of Tinubu. I told him we'll still have worries if Obi were the president.

Just today, another person in the neighborhood came to wait for me at the bus stop. He was monitoring before I left workplace. The family had nothing, as in zero Kobo to survive on. He had a car he uses for Uber, it was stolen. He has 3 kids , one of them 11 months. By the time he finished his tales I had to do transfer both to him and to the wife.

Before he could summon courage to tell me, he must have passed through hell. Those are the things that get one depressed. I was fulfilled I could help. That should take them through a week.

I've made up my mind to build my tent with Jesus, it can only be him. I don't trust APC or PDP or even the Messianic LP according to their followers. PS 120
FamilyRe: As This Year Is Coming To An End, What Are You Grateful For? by placeofallure(f): 2:39pm On Nov 06, 2023
I'm grateful for many things, especially for life.
God has blessed me beyond my comprehension this year, I'm just wondering if it's me or somebody else. I had something really great to look up to. It started like a dream around February, March and this past month, I had to check again whether it's me or somebody else.

My utmost prayer is for God to soothe pain of everyone going through things. I know how it is, not palatable but God's God always.

Igbo men don't avoid yoruba women, it is the other way round. Women will come for you when they know you have what it takes to take good care of them and their children. The last thing they consider is tribe.

You can see how yoruba men are Marrying your ladies every week. They are picking the best among your girls, leaving the ugly and worn-out remnants for your men.

It is because your ladies see yoruba men as more capable men compared to your men. It has nothing to do with tribe.
Paternity fraud cut across all tribes and race but Tribalism won't let you think/see beyond your nose.
The recent one that happened in my area involved as Igbo couple.
You are minding the fool. Igbo men avoid Yoruba women....he must be delusional. They run after us per second, per second.
Infidelity in marriage is no respecter of tribe, Creed, religion or status. But because that one is a bigot and imbecilic, he won't see it.

FamilyRe: How Did You Prevent Your Parents' Toxic Marriage From Affecting Yours? by placeofallure(f): 11:35am On Nov 05, 2023
sonnie10:
Don’t go and be telling them every detail of your household. Preserve some and preserve your dignity.
Not when your husband is short of money and you support him with the house rent, then you go at his back and lament to your parents.

Even your close siblings, stop telling them belittling stuff about husband, because they will turn around and tell your parents.

Don’t compare your father to your husband, that is an insult.

Find creative ways to diffuse tension. Don’t try to win any argument. Somethings are not worth repeating. Say it once and leave it there.

Call your husband sweet names, let him feel that he is incharge. Pray for him and his source of income. Let him hear you pray. This will make know that you wish him well.

Let him know that everything will be fine, even in very difficult situations . Celebrate even the little things he do.. He will do more.

Always forgive and advise him .
If you can conquer the war of going about ranting about your marriage, you would have solved your marital issues by half.

I never tell my issues to anyone. Not my mum, not my sisters, not to friends, do I even have friends? My husband remains my best friend. We're a decade old and we're still going strong.
Whoever wants to marry should just pray for a discerning spirit to choose right. Not all marriages are bad. My parents have been married for over 50 years and they're still Romeo and Juliet, Tani mo fẹ fi temi jọ? Patience, Contentment and Tolerance and a little love.

With the high rise in the prices of all the basic needs. I returned from work this evening and I tried to write all I needed and to my surprise, my salary has finished with no savings for me.

I just don't know what to remove from the list right now, are we really going to continue like this? Especially those of us working for private companies, these private companies don't even bother to increase the salary of their workers with the rise in all commodities in the country.
Some of them private companies (like mine) are reasonable. I got mine at the Ikeja Passport Office, that Assbifi Road. That was some months ago just before Tinubu was sworn in. I got the VIP treatment. They called me from home that I should come pick it. I got there, despite the mammoth crowd that they refused entrance, I only needed to mention a name and they flung the doors open. I looked at one of the officers intensely, he couldn't resist the charm, he led me to the office and returned to his post. At the office, they were expecting me, I just filled some form and I was done. Altogether, I didn't spend 20 mins at the Passport Office. Don't ask me how, wads of currency have gone in between, not at my expense so e no concern me.

Normally, baby classes should be on the ground floor. Minders in each class should be at least 2 or 3. They are tiny, little, sneaky creatures you won't know when they will slip by you and go wreak atrocities. They're not to be blamed because they don't know any better. The adults around will always take the fall; Davido's late Ifeanyi came to mind (I'm sorry I have to refer to him) Adults should NEVER lose guard around tiny tots.

May God comfort his family.
