Presently am in Delta state. You? |
Quite an interesting and educative thread. Chaircover i respect you, infact i want you to be your friend and can you extent the cake/baking books offer to me? I bake but i want to expand for business purpose. I will pay the post cost. If its open, pls reply me here so i will email you. @op they have all given useful tips, take your time and go through all the various ideas given here and the once in the other link at Travel section. I pray things get better for you and you family. If all else fails and your financial situation doesn't get better, you can always return home. With the work experience of you and your hubby, am sure you will be able to get pretty decent jobs here that the pay would afford you to live very very comfortably, save, invest and within 3years you can build your own house. Then you guys can travel to the UK during holidays. People are making it here in Nigeria. I was planning to relocate to the UK before, Middlesex University even offered me admission but i changed my mind at the last minute reason being that my elder sister told me the hard truth about life in the UK. Even with MSE degree, chances of getting a decent job there are very very slim. Said I may have to take up menial jobs for survival after schooling. She has an MSE in Gas engineering from University of Salford (that was in 2010) and till date she hasn't gotten a professional job in UK. At times we have to face reality. @davidlan you were quite harsh but you did make a point. I hope the operator won't pick any offence. |
The taste of Fayrous pear flavour is just horrible. Actually nauseates me. They should do something about it pls. |
Thank you MissyB. I have printed and spiral bound my maggi cookbook. Is there another version/volume available that contains other foods like jollof rice etc? |
Will have to check wikipedia and compare the nutritional constituents of both to know which is richer. Personally i prefer brown beans because it taste better than white beans. |
Meals prepared with Locust beans added to it always have a significantly different and richer taste. My love for it actually increased when i was doing a programme in Ilorin and lived there for a year. The indigenes of that town sure knows how to eat locust beans and its actually very cheap too. Soups like Bitterleaf, Egusi, Efo riro, Vegetable, Ogbonor with Okro (very sweet), Ofe Ujuju, Ofe Ikaka (dried okro soup) and Palm oil jollof rice and many more all have a much better and richer taste when prepared with locust beans. Mind you there are about two types of locust beans. The one for Vegetable and Bitter leaf soup is different from the one used to prepare other types of meals. Whenever you want to buy, tell the seller to give you the type used for the food you want to prepare. |
@ mutter are you saying because he is her husband so its his right to treat her like a slave? Is slavery a part of marriage package?......... and you are a lady. Wow! @figures it is well with you. You really sounded bitter and i understand what you are going through perfectly well. The only thing i can say is have a heart to heart chat with your hubby and let him know the extent of damage his attitude and character has caused u. Meanwhile open a seperate savings account where you can be saving little little amounts. I pray God gives you the wisdom to overcome these challenges. |
Thanks alot. Can u please include it into the list of my topics (in my profile page)cos it was deleted from there too. I appreciate. |
U are such a nice lady. Thanks lot. Just received. |
PLS KINDLY SEND ONE TO ME; simplycindy84@yahoo.com |
@op, Ukdream have given u the right ingredients and procedure. The red kidney beans is the one u normally add to salad but u can omit it if u like. The flour is not beans flour, it MUST be unripe plantain flour; u can buy it in the market just like u buy your semovita or yam flour or better still u can prepare yours if u have the time. The plantain flour should be more than the ripe blended plaintain that way after it is done, it will be a well solidified and taste well. DO NOT ADD MEAT, FISH OR EGGS. It was just two days ago we started drying unripe plantain pieces for grinding. Probably by weekend i will make plantain pudding (ukpo ogede). Plantain pudding is a very rich and delicious food. |
Hi Moderator, i just discovered that one of my threads is missing. The title is AM A SINGLE MUM, CAN I STILL FIND TRUE LOVE? I have searched for it but its no where. Please help. Thanks. |
Miss EZ: @Greyfog, thanks for reading my post, oatmeal is a very nutritious meal that people take forgranted. I learnt to eat healthy cos i decided to take control of my weight. We can tell the poster what to eat, but at the end of the day, he has to make the choice to do what it takes to stay healthy.Exactly my thots. Is it ok to add milk to the oatmeal porridge? |
Thanks alot for this information. |
Another better way of extracting juice from garlic and ginger is by simply blending. 1. After peeling both, wash and cut the ginger into small pieces. 2. Transfer into a blender, add water and blend both till smooth. 3. Filter, add more water to the chaff to extract all the juice. 4. Transfer to a bottle, refrigerate for preservation. 5. I drink it once a day with short glass (the type used to measure ogogoro). I so much love this method because you can enjoy your garlic very well and still avoid the strong smell. |
@cookie thanks for that touching piece of evidence. Quite touching as in if na me, i go go hug transformer sharp sharp. |
@op cooking with firewood is not only the fastest but also adds a kind of great flavour to food. That is an indisputeable fact. The only reason all the fastfood outlets don't cook with fire wood is because they won't be allowed to. So your mum and grandma are right on point. |
12 inches!:D pikins dem na 3 ooo! Triplets. They actually published their story in one local news paper with pictures. So i guess the Government or his wife will somehow get wind of it. |
Dondav: What a blessing... !!!Exactly what i said ooo! The lady will not appreciate them now, maybe later when they are 5yrs and above she will start counting her blessings. I know that those wonderful cuties will be sources of blessings to her. As for the otondo corper, i leave him to God. |
Idowuogbo: Is dis romantic?Lol. You question made me laugh. Ok where do suggest i post it? |
A youth corper posted to serve in Agbor town, Delta state impregnated a 200 level student of Delta state University, Agbor campus last year and ran away. The young lady delivered a set of triplets (a boy and two girls) last month through C.S. The corper is yet to turn up to claim responsibility. Now the parents of the girl who are poor have resorted to begging in order to be able to take care of both mother and children. Poor girl. |
My sister said the same thing ooo. Life there is not as easy as we think. |
Thank you all so much for your intelligent contributions. At least she will see reasons why she shouldn't join the class and look for subtle ways to bring peace back to her home since she insists on staying. I will email the link to this page to her now and i hope she learns a lesson or two. |
omosexy1: Why do I feel that this story is a makeup storyIts not a make up story ok. The whole abuse thing is getting too much and i think ladies are tired of being beaten by their husbands. Most would leave but some like my friend doesn't want to leave but instead is considering learning skills to defend her self. Though i don't think its a good idea. By the way what prove do you need for you to believe this story is real? |
They both serve different purposes like everyone have said. My major problem with facebook is the security is too porous, i mean all someone needs to hack into your account are just few easy steps. Though it serves a great deal in terms of chatting and reconnecting with friends and loved ones but people tend to get too careless and quite a lot of people have lost their lives courtesy of facebook (if you don't know about it, google facebook related deaths). Nairaland has a lot of advantages. Some fellow members are quite supportive, nice, and need i say intelligent? Facebook has absolutely nothing to offer when it comes to education. Nairaland is way too educative and much more interesting. My favourite section is the Food and Family section. With Nairaland you can be yourself, act like yourself, open up to the world, bare your mind, ask questions freely without bothering if your next door neighbour will recognise you by your name and "laugh at you". Another problem with facebook is that you get bored easily and one funny thing is that after spending hours on facebook and you eventually log out, you then realise that you wasted your money and time. Thumbs up Seun. Nairaland all the way!!! |
Thanks y'all for your thoughts. Its not about another woman, she said her husband isn't cheating on her (to the best of her knowledge) and the beating started during one of the usual arguments. He slapped her and she slapped him back and he started and has done it twice now. Like i said earlier i have begged her not to join the defence class but seek for ways to talk to him and possibly invite his /her family elders to interfere. |
@op as much your woman has an enviable character, bottling up issues isn't really the best especially when you are the cause of the problem(s). True she may be the type that easily forgives and moves on like nothing has happened but don't be suprised that a day will come you guys will have a huge misunderstanding and out of no where she will start bringing up supposedly past and buried issues. Just try and talk to her about your desire to see you guys talk about misunderstandings when they arise. Communication is one of the basic keys to a successful union. Goodluck. |
@op the age difference is too much trust me. If he is up to 27yrs, that would have been different. A time will come when you will start picking offence unnecessarily. If he sends you on an errand, demands for food, sex etc u may end up start comparing him to your younger brother and start challenging him. When the break up happens (pls am not saying it will), everyone will be on his side. |
@ op, i tap from your blessing. What a wonderful man and husband you are. May God continue to strengthen the love and bond in your home. |
If i were in your shoes, i will be honeymooning with my husband this period even for up to 3months! After 4 kids together and a stressful job like the one he had, you should be glad you have your man all to yourself for now. Abeg stop complaining and let the man enjoy quality time with his children. He knows he has missed out alot perhaps that is why he is not in a hurry to start working again. A family man with four children and bills to take care of and still has 6m in his savings account is in my own words "a man with plans". |
I had a distressing chat with my friend on 2go last night. She has been married for about 6years to a guy she dated for 7years (13yrs). She has a good job just like her husband and they have come a long way together, built their house, joint investments, and they have 3 kids. Now the problem according to her is that the guy started beating her early this year. He has done it 2times now and she still doesn't know what has come over him. She has made up her mind to join a self defence class where she will acquire skills to defend her self and possibly beat her husband up. She can't leave the marriage because she has really suffered with the man and they have come a long way and worse is that she loves her husband but she isn't sure of his love anymore. I told her to calm down and think through the whole thing before starting the class as it will terribly affect their children and it will leave a bad image of what marriage is about on them. She has suggested to her husband that they go for counselling but he refused and she has sworn never to walk out of the marriage for another woman. My question to you guys now is this...... do you think she is making the right move by joining a Taekwando class and if she learns all the move, is it right for she and her husband to become two boxers in their home and turn their home to a boxing ring? Won't their children grow up scarred for life? Pls this is a serious issue, she will get to read the various contributions from you guys. Thanks. |
