You're quite right about that. I think the problem with them is that they have too many customers. I opened my account at that branch and every time I go there, the place is always crowded. Hopefully, that will no longer be much of a problem anymore since they just opened a new branch at Federal Estate (close to Gate B/stop, along Ipaja road).

I once heard that buying a perf for someone as a birthday gift, means that you're indirectly telling him/her that he/she has a body odour.

You've been friends for 3yrs now, so you should know her likes and dislikes by now.  Get her anyone of those things that you know she has always longed for or anything you know she really treasures (if you can afford it).  Sometimes, buying a very expensive gift may not do the trick.  Even if it's cheap, but you're sure that's what she really wants, I believe she'll appreciate it.

If all the money we shipped away in the name of buying products we didn’t intend to use is channeled locally for a worthy course, I think it’s good enough, and this time, people get to have value exceeding 200% of their membership fee from the club - Already without starting, there are quite of interesting things on ground and many more in the pipeline. We just need to kick off so that some of us can have more time for the real things.

There is too much talk in Nigeria already about the prophecies of things to come… we don’t want to talk anymore, we want to start a bloodless revolution. We are securing the buy-in of our leaders, it’s not a fight against authority, it’s a quest to ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country. We will fund reorientation seminars in every higher institution and every City in Nigeria, North, East , West or South South will not matter, we won’t do it ourselves, we will enlist the services of people who have been doing it at their own expense and have a passion for it. I’m not kidding myself that all that read will jump in and become members. It took me 7 months after CF started in Nigeria before I was convinced to join, and we still turned things around despite being late. There are some, whose sun of understanding will not rise until we are 2yrs deep in this burning desire, but they will be valuable all the same. Now at this point, I know what is already going on in the minds of most of you here. Perhaps, I'm beginning to bore some of you already. But wait, don't stop here, here's the gist. . .

"Some weeks back I wrote an article on our Envisioned Nigeria. The article was read by many and elicited a lot of comments. I was impressed by the number of young Nigerians that are genuinely interested in the birth of the Nigeria of our dreams. We also all alluded to the fact that what was stopping us from greatness wasn't lack of human talent, resources or even capital. It occured to me that the solution to the challenges facing our great country today wasn't that there weren't people who knew what the issues were, there are people who know and, within their own circles of influence, are causing some ripples of change. A club where Nigerians and friends of Nigeria from all over the world will be able to thrash out pressing issues of the nation, where all will be able to proffer, discuss, and execute solutions in order to move the country forward. A club where members will be of great assistance to one another. A club where members will enjoy great benefits for being a part of the New Nigeria project. And most importantly, a club where members will be remembered in history, for being one of those who actually believed in the New Nigeria Dream, and did all that they could to make it a reality.

This burning desire for the much needed change in our country was what birthed the idea and vision of a New Nigeria.  I anticipate that many will criticize, many others will remain skeptical, while some others will not even bother themselves with this, because to them, "this is another of those trite phrases they have often heard of in the past".  However, I will not be shaken, I will still maintain my stand because I strongly believe in a New Nigeria.  I know many of you must have heard the "I believe" statement over a million times already and will therefore dismiss this one as another of those "jobless time wasters".  But perhaps, if the inventors of the great inventions we have today had also not "bothered themselves" because people didn't believe them, or because some others had "tried in the past and failed", I really don't think this world would be half as developed as it it today.

Anyway, please pardon me as I "bore" you yet again with the "cliche"; if you BELIEVE it, then you can ACHIEVE it.

Christainity to me is practical and simple, the greatest commandment in Christainity is love, Would God who commaned us to love each other now make us hate each other.
I am not into all the Bible quoting stuff, i am practical, I live my life as a christain by showing Gods love to people i meet, not by quoting scriptures to support or justify discrimniating against people.

As a matter of fact, a lot of Christians believe that a white lie is a sin, as far as it is not the "truth".  However, my first post was not in relation to Christianity in particular, that was why I quoted just that portion of your text and responded with "it depends".  I was only trying to bring in another dimension into this discourse, but it seems that purpose has been defeated already, so, never mind.

This is the umpteenth time I'm hearing this unfounded allegation. The question that I expect any reasonable person to ask himself/herself is: "Whenever I recharge my phone, is it the same amount I load that reflects on my account balance or not?" This story is very hard to believe considering the fact that I read an interview that Frank and his wife granted recently, where this issue of battery allegation came up and Frank denied having ever hit his wife.  His wife also corroborated this by admitting that Frank has NEVER raised a finger on her before.  Frank even went on to say that one of the worst things he doesn't hope to experience in his life is divorce, so why would he want to beat his wife?

Before someone else comes analyzing my post, allow me to clarify certain issues.

1. My post focuses on energy conservation in the household, not the country in general.

2. It also focuses on energy conservation based on the use of a prepaid meter, not on the general consumption of energy.

Of course if we were to be having light 24/7, we would definitely be spending about N30,000 - N50,000 or even more monthly on electricity alone.

Now I understand why Afam often addresses you the way he does.  If this is how I addressed the person that said electricity on the prepaid meter costs N2000 per day, I don't think this thread will still be as orderly as it is.

You do not live in my house, you do not know the circumstances surrounding energy supply and conservation in my house and you're so sure that I am being "economical with the truth"?

Anyway, it's the truth.  Sometimes, the card lasts for more than a month.  Rather than implicitly label me a liar, you should have made your curiousity known in a diplomatic manner.  The reason why a N5000 card lasts for a month is due to the fact that most times, we run on generator since we only have light for a few hours per day, and the reason I said that it is even this expensive is because we use some high energy consuming appliances, many 60watt bulbs, and we usually leave the security lights on throughout the night, if there is light.

By the way, who was talking about energy conservation in Nigeria?  We all know that there is none, which is why this topic was created in first place, so why are you reiterating the obvious?  And even considering the fact that you just sarcastically admitted that PHCN effectively conserves the energy for us, why then do you find it difficult to believe that a N5000 card can last for a month or more?

I agree with his second and third points, and to an extent, his first point.

Those that live in Abuja will agree with his penultimate point, while those that live in Ikorodu will certainly agree with his last point.

The bills from the prepaid meter are unnecessarily expensive. Its about N2000 per day. Minimum wage is 7k per month. How can power be accessible and affordable to the masses at such outrageous prices.

I don't know where you got this from, but in my home, a N5000 card usually lasts for at least, one month (could be more).  And it's even this expensive because we do not conserve energy efficiently enough.

What energy are we actually conserving when all PHCN does is to bring a fixed and well calculated but biased energy consumption bill to your doorsteps at the beginning of every month and at the end of month, they come to disconnect your power line if you have not paid the stipulated bill even when you try to conserve the so- called energy usage that PHCN supplied.

Talking about bills, we won't need to worry about that in about 12 - 24 months from now, as many households in Nigeria today, have started using the prepaid meter; so you see why energy conservation is a must. Infact, I don't think you'll need anyone to tell you that you need to conserve energy by the time you start using one.

I do not agree with that claim because when I was growing up in Ikorodu, majority of the wayward gals I knew were muslims so I do not think waywardness is necessarily a religious thing, especially in public schools.

Secondly, my reference was to muslim girls that I KNOW personally, I wasn't generalising about Muslim girls. If you're talking of 'conc' Muslim men dating 'conc' Christian ladies, then I think you got it all wrong.

But I think I understand you, and one of the major reasons is what Seun has mentioned here.  If we are going to be sincere with ourselves here, many will agree with me that majority of the wayward girls today belong to Christianity, at least, they all 'go to church'. (Note that I did not say they're "Christians", before someone starts to define to me, what it means to be a "Christian".

Many Muslim girls I know, are usually very discplined compared to their Christrian counterpart.  And I think it is because of the way their religion makes them view things - No mercy if caught doing wrong.  Unlike Christianity where there seems to be a lot of "grace" and "forgiveness", which many of our "Christian sisters" have, unfortunately, taken for granted.  Afterall, "God" will still "forgive" them!
