Kay17:Interesting... the provisions of the code that call for professionalism are express. The expectations of professionalism are universal, every profession has these expectations, you won't find an exhaustive list in any "express provision". They aren't informed by my 'own personal belief' or a decision of an 'appellate court' (even though there are several that talk about unprofessional conduct for lawyers). I don't have to be a lawyer to know that paying money to a judge is unprofessional. The issue of advertising is left to them determine. It is regulated by their law in the same way that advertisement of tobacco, drugs and pharma products are regulated by law. You will find out that some professions have restrictions as to the way and manner in which they advertise. I think the restriction for lawyers is quite outdated because the uk permits restricted advertising. |
Kay17:The rules require lawyers to handle their briefs professionally. This includes reaching out to specialists or doing the necessary research when the lawyer is out of his depth. A lawyer's duty is not to know every law but to know where to find the law. The same rules of conduct in Nigeria prohibit advertising. |
Obviously this op went online to copy a load of crap or just conjured everything up. Are you aware that lawyers in Nigeria have a code of conduct? If op had bothered to even glance through, he would have been properly guided. I just weak for the op, nice title, ridiculous content- this is obviously a recipe for front page. There's a reason we have professionals in various fields and even specializations within professions. If this fact is lost on the op, then I rest my case. |
magazineguy:This is an easy-to-read writeup. However, PR is a course that is taught in schools today, its not a vocation you stumble upon. Moreover, the law states that you cannot practice PR in Nigeria without being a member of the NIPR. This means even if you study PR in school, you need NIPR certification to practice for profit in Nigeria. You can't get the certification without learning the basics and then some. From my research, Prcan is not established by any law and so Nigerian law does not recognize them. It is illegal to operate as a government agency set up by law. Please be properly guided. |
Emefiele must go! Its only in Nigeria that depositors pay for lodging money with the bank. It is this same depositors funds that these greedy banks use to give loans to their cronies which ultimately go bad. It is just lazy for the CBN to make such demands on Nigerians. The banks need us more than we need them. To hell with the lot of them. |
This would be illegal! Its the sort of move that NCC should kick against. First they increased the price floor, now they want to proscript internet usage. It cant be true. |
Deborahj:With respect, this post is a load of hogwash and codswallop. It trivialises the sacrifice of Jesus. Church is where you spend time with fellow Christians, not a meeting location for a rendezvous with the omnipresent God. The gospel is for the unsaved, most of whom are outside the walls of the church. Any register that exists was made by a man and is for man. Not every churchian is a christian |
No scientific basis for any of these points. Did the op dream them up? I can tell you for free that the smartest people on the planet have 7 out of these habits (many of them aren't really habits). Some people just put all sorts of facts together. Bad advice. |
I just dont get how some people will give you up to 20 missed calls! If the person you're calling hasn't picked after 2 calls, its either the person can't pick or doesn't want to pick. In that case, you send a text message. and tell the person i'll call back in 2 hours or at your convenience. Your continuous calls may kill the person's battery or block other important messages from coming in. The only exception is in case of an emergency. |
TheBlessedMAN:500 can buy a broken heart... |
This is really unfortunate. Must everything end up in our stomachs? |
Foolishness is when the Plaintiff is not in court but paid supporters stand outside in the sun waiting for adjournment. |
ZirdoRoray:If you were self-aware in the late 80s and early 90s you'll know that Charly Boy has always been in the vanguard for the support of the common man, notwithstanding the fact that he comes from an affluent family. Fighting for the masses can be very depressing in Nigeria, people celebrate the thieves and neglect those who champion the common good. I'm glad hes back now, adding the benefit of age and wisdom to his radicalism. Talking about street credibility, this is one of the few Nigerians with authentic cred. |
Lol! Interesting posers. Its easy to fall into the routine of religion... sometimes we need someone to point these things out to us. |
The question isn't just about whether he should blow the whistle, your friend needs to be clear about who the complaint is directed to. Public sector corruption isnt the same as private sector corruption. As a private company, he'll need to get the attention of key management. If the boss is in management and the Company doesn't have a whistleblower policy then he may have to sit on his hands and bide his time. |
omenkaLives:Its really unfortunate. How someone vetted this piece and decided its worth promoting... I guess Nairaland needs hits too |
What is marriage? Is it a physical act? or a legal act? or a spiritual act? or all or none? A topic like this can't be addressed if you don't even identify the boundaries within which people should or shouldn't act. |
See better one chance! 20% per annum for 24 months, you'll be working for Firstbank cos interest go reach to buy car. Firstbank done enter Uber business. |
Fantastic information. Op deserves a commendation |
This should be on fp! Imagine! I salute Nigerian inventors and innovators. This really goes to show that you don't need government support to survive. The time spent complaining can be better spent creating your future. Yoruba ronu. Nigeria ronu. |
Please details. Which High Court? Who filed the suit? Who are the parties? Was it final judgment or temporary ruling? When was the judgment/ruling given? |
This is unfortunate. Is it now a competition? Odiegwu. |
These were new cars... God dey oh. |
Those hypocrites drinking panadol on this issue should tell Nigerian artistes to stop going to shoot music videos in South Africa first. Shior. |
What sort of rubbish reporting is this? |
e-diots all over the place. Nigerians will issue a bench warrant against members of the NASS for failing to carry out their mandate. Priorities are just under the sea in this country of ridiculousness. Why can't the HoR focus on their core mandate? Are they done working on the myriad archaic laws we have in the country? Whats worse is that they don't even have the powers they arrogate to themselves half the time. Shior! |
Sambest2:Thats not the issue my friend. Pdfs have higher security features. Simple. If you're to travel to Calabar from Lagos, You can choose to walk, travel by road or travel by air. All 3 methods will take you there. Choose wisely. |
There's a right to free speech. Hate speech is a totally different ball game. There is no amount of sugar that can coat what the pastor said. His actions are neither christlike, nor nationalistic. Its either his judgment is off-key or he allowed his emotions to get the better of him. Either way, he was wrong. Its funny, he's been trying to correct and edit the statement by reading things that weren't intended from the outset. |
Join politics... everything is not about protest. Entertainers who allowed themselves to be used by politicians are just as bad as the politicians. Join politics and change the game from within. |
This is very bad advice. The security implications of using a .doc or .docx file are too many. Pdf remains the standard for secure communication in the corporate world. Don't hand your details over to data thieves who can rob your personality with ctrl + c and ctrl + v. |
Nigerians should ask whether a Task Force can arrest citizens. |
This isn't how to stimulate an economy in a recession. How are the phones fake? Why all this rubbish? |
