Sunnycliff:This is a great suggestion. If this government is sincere about wealth redistribution, they should start by levying a property tax on unoccupied property and undeveloped land. The amount doesn't have to be sooo much because the revenue base is very high. |
While I sympathize with Nigerians who are losing their jobs, I don't understand the misplaced priorities of these labor unions. I don't know how many unions focus on skills development, whistle-blowing, proper corporate governance etc. What have the union ever done for bank customers? You can't force a bank to retain staff in the wake of rapidly dwindling income. Wrongful dismissal is a totally different issue which the employee can take up in court- your pay day is sure. But where an organization has to downsize to survive, there's nothing labor can do-they just set themselves up to fail. Many things in this country are upside down. In the financial sector, depositors are the most vulnerable category- not shareholders, directors, creditors or staff. These unions will just be forming relevant. Maybe they're upset that their various cooperatives will have to pay off ex-members. |
Brilliant! Thanks for this. A friend and I were talking about the toothpaste tip on Monday. I remember paying my former kazeem about 1,500 some years ago to 'polish and shine' the lights on my car. The guy took the car out of my view and used toothpaste. He finally confessed about 1 month later. Lol. |
Nairaland is proof that Nigerians are creative and artistic. Art is an expression of our highest aspirations. We can neither create nor enjoy art in a survivalist system, that's why many avenues of creativity revolve around the negative. I'm glad Nairaland provides an avenue for positive expression. I wish more content from the arts/culture sections- literature, visual and other forms would make it to the front page. |
d33types:You should make sure you read and understand posts before making sweeping comments that may expose you to ridicule. You've been advised several times to read and understand posts before commenting. The lie was in the misleading title. That's why i referenced Nigerian bloggers. There's a general consensus on that from people who have actually read the op's post. Your comment also betrays the fact that you do not read- you glossed over my views on the regulation of charities... The real news source (notice the boldened text) is actually a UK newspaper, hence the reference to the news report. I'm not sure your saw it but i also urged other great Nlanders (including your good self) to read the pdf. I suggest that you remove the log in your eye first. Read first (if you can), then try to understand what you have read. Finally, when commenting, please stick to the issues. Intelligent people attack issues, ignorant people abandon issues and attack other people. Choose intelligence. Fyi: KICC isn't my church, neither is Pastor Matthew my pastor. |
asuustrike2009:You're spot on. |
asuustrike2009:Funny thing though, the mod didn't mention mmm. The op is solely responsible for the title. |
Nigerian Bloggers and Lies- anything to generate traffic. Asides the deceptive title, I think the article highlights the manner in which a responsible Government should oversee the financial activities of non-profits, especially religious organizations. These organizations are established for charitable objects and the Trustees should be held accountable for the funds. They are called "Trustees" because they hold the property and funds of the organization in trust for the members and society at large. Its not a one-man show where the General Overseer is the CEO. That's why Pastors shouldn't see ministry as a source of personal enrichment, its a breach of trust and a crime, the fact that many get away with it here in Nigeria doesn't make it right. On the other hand, there are also several churches in Nigeria that try to exhibit some fiscal transparency. If the church was more transparent, especially in its dealings with money, we wouldn't have the sort of mutual distrust that exists between Pastors and congregants. In other news, did anyone notice that this |
What happened in Real Life: The gentleman visited prisoners and encouraged them to be better people. What Nairaland and Bloggers say: The gentleman wants to sleep in kirikiri prison. Sings of the end. |
maasoap: “This is my advice to bloggers – don’t use any story you see on another website without confirming from the person concerned. If you cannot reach the person who sent the message, don’t publish it – the person is faceless. Confirm everything before you publish it.."This quote is taken from the man in the eye of the TB Joshua saga. I hope you now see the point. |
Please post the basic prices for each category... Can you also post samples of previous work? Serious |
Lol. She's feeling herself... Nothing free in that 'freestyle'. |
There are always 2 sides to every story. Going by your account, it seems like you are between a rock and a hard place- if you're not gaining anything tangible: business networks, life skills, career development and experience, I'd advise that you step aside. The job sounds too risky for someone who's working to pass the time. The important thing is that you try (as much as possible) not to spoil the relationship. In business and life generally, the more allies you have, the easier your ascension. Inform him politely that you will be unable to continue working under those conditions as a result of the economic recession and an increase in the cost of living etc. Think of ways to add value to his business and suggest avenues to increase his productivity- use that to negotiate for better working conditions. If he feels you're valuable enough, he'll budge. If he doesn't then you're better of without him- there's no point working for someone who doesn't value you or your input. |
maasoap:1. Your spiritual problems have manifested in mental, emotional and sexual frustration. You need help. Read my original post and then read your initial reply. Your response reeks of pure frustration. 2. I know understanding is a problem right now. The guy refuted the allegations. I read that people had reached out to him and he responded with explanations. This proves my caution right. The person who put the guy on blast had not even explored the internal mechanisms before coming out. Whats worse, there was no proof. You don't use a crime to solve another crime. Imagine if I put you on blast now as a result of your unwarranted attacks? Pls seek wisdom. Happy New Year in Advance. |
I usually don't comment on MMM threads but did anyone notice that the message says "Marry Christmas"? Lol. |
maasoap:It seems like the people chasing you from your village have finally overtaken you. If not for the foolishness that reigns in your family I would have descended on you this morning. It is not by force to comment if understanding is your problem. Instead of you to work on your failures and you're here counting money in someone's pocket. Thief. You're the sexual pervert that looks for any opportunity to carry out your sick intentions without considering anyone's feelings. How do you know the guy did what the op claimed he did? Is there any proof? Have you bothered to even ask for evidence before releasing the filth circulating between your ears? If there was evidence then it would be a different thing. Moreover MMM participants obviously have their own way of resolving these issues internally, which makes the rant on Nairaland suspicious. Merry Christmas. |
First the post is very vague in relation to the topic. Secondly the pictures used are borrowed and have been in circulation on nairaland since monday this week. Thirdly, the op's post about bank atms and customers somehow concludes with a statement on Buhari. I think i've had enough of Nairaland for 2016, but someone has to speak out against this sort of nonsense. |
wydmag:More crimes are committed in the execution of Jungle justice. All sorts of sexual predators looking for an excuse. Females are molested and males are tortured and killed. |
FlirtyKaren:How do we know this isn't cyber bullying or intimidation? That's how these bloggers facilitate crime and criminality. The Op in a desperate attempt to get traffic shared a post with someone's name, phone number, picture and private information on a public forum without verifying the story-there is no proof that s/he is an MMM subscriber or that they were paired or joined or whatever. This is incredulous! And it got to front page Did the mods even bother to do a simple security check? Now the guy is on blast, people are putting his private life on display, thanks to Nairaland. If i decide to post my enemy's phone number, picture and private info with a bogus story this is how Nairaland will aid and abet the commission of a felony?? Issorait! Lalasticlala, Seun and co, this is my 2nd complaint in less than 1 week, Nigerians expect more from you guys. |
Karamajiji is a settlement around Lugbe in Abuja and not a colony. Op be advised. This settlement is a makeshift arrangement and therefore has bad roads which are often made worse by the rainy season. It seems the Foundation is grading the road. This is a very kind gesture that will bring some relief to the residents of that area, though i'm not aware of a community of people living with disabilities- only financial disabilities. |
Lol. Walahi I don't know which is worse: The serial cheater, the greedy uncle, the vindictive friends, the aproko gossip or the keke napep driver! ![]() |
There was a time, not too long ago when other schools spent about 4 years in and out of ASUU strikes because of UNILORIN, during which period Unilorin was in session and never embarked on strike. People didn't know that the school was a glorified secondary school while they were churning out graduates and other students were at home. Unilorin students please focus on your primary purpose in school- academics, you don't understand the sacrifices others have made for you to enjoy it. |
Bad joke. Not cool, not funny. |
pchukwudi:As in!! I don't get it. What's up with Nairaland these days... What's the essence of having a clearing house of mods if stories like this would be pushed to the front page. All over the world, Forums have been relegated to the Stone Age, I fear Nairaland will suffer the same fate if an average Nigerian social media site emerges. |
Very interesting topic... I also had the same experience some years ago on the 2003 Camry. The first time it happened, I was like MMM! (moku mogbe modaran). My Kazeem told me that the sensor needed to reset and that i should let the engine steam, so I left it running for like 30 mins. Well, i bought a jumper kit to avoid disconnecting the battery terminals. Didn't experience it again until i sold the car. |
This is wrong on too many levels. |
A people deserve the leaders they have. QED. |
This is the voice of Ughamadu the hand of Kachikwu. This story has been circulated too many times. Kachikwu is the master Maradonna, after dribbling everybody sha dont dribble yasef. We won't raise eyebrows if you fix the refineries first before making these grand declarations. Dem wan use hope finish us for this country. Yeye dey smell. Shior. |
This is unfortunate. The military has to understand that leadership must be by example... If the top hierarchy continues to feed on 80% of the resources then the lower ranks will fight back. Military corruption is so dangerous because the infantry and junior ranks pay with their lives. |
Great article. Some people take social media too seriously... such a fake form of existence. Modified: Social media is just a subset of the internet... these days we use so much data to troll social media platforms and ignore the other exponential uses of the internet, especially as a source of information. |
FYI, the reason people respond to pastors the way they do is because pastors make themselves out to be super human, with a direct line to God. |
