Some folks here have already decided to vote for him if he stands. Now, for someone who has not in the last decade made a single policy statement about anything to move this country forward. I mean no one knows his views about most things, how then can one conclude he will be the right person. At least the man in Aso Rock was known for something all through his candidature. At the very least he had a slogan that some folks felt could be helpful to Nigeria. What is Mr. Tinubu bringing to the Nigeria State that is unique, different, progressive and a change for the better.... Or are we going on another 4 to 8 year trial and error. |
He is eligible but I will hesitate in saying credible. If BAT truly wants to be President come 2023, two things have to happen quickly. One. He has to pull the rip cord and parachute out of this government fast. If not he will drown too when they hit the water. Two. He has to start charting in no uncertain terms how he is going to get Nigeria out of this mess.... What mess....'the economy stupid'... Sorry Bill, just couldn't help myself....the house is on fire... |
Had a running battle with his heart for many years. His body never really let him be the ultimate success he would have. RIP great man. |
This rest or relaxation or holidays people talk about only works if it is stimulating to the part of the brain under stress. If it is not the day or few days after resumption you'd find yourself almost back to the same levels as before whereas there are several people I know who have never taken a holiday all their working Iives and they are in top shape. The key is knowing your limits, knowing how you push the grey matter in one direction and then pull it back the other. Luckily for me for instance I am my own boss so I can have four or five screens on at my desk (when at my desk) so I don't task for instance the creative cortex for longer than an hour then I switch to something else for thirty minutes before returning. If you want to grow mental endurance the last thing you should do is to tax that part of the brain continuously without reprieve. Have something running parallel. As they humourously say, if you are a police detective for instance trying to solve a difficult crime you should have a sudoku booklet in you back pocket. |
MacDodger:That is physical tiredness. Burnout is mental fatigue. The solution is to couple your primary activities with your intellectual hobbies is an effective, complimentary manner. That is applying the same section of the brain to different but polar opposite stresses. It will not work if you activate or stimulate a different part of the brain responsible for other sensibilities for instance you will not break back by eating, sleeping or perhaps binge movie watching. Mental stress simply does not melt away. It has to be massaged out and you don't have a groin pull and act on you Achilles. It doesn't work that way. |
Just get a CAT 918M. You can make your own road as you go along.... |

Designsking:It is called "State of the Nation" or one USA, "State of the Union" which is a barometer of broadly the well being of the nation and how leadership manages the quality of life. This government has ignored it completely for a myriad of reasons a lot of people say ranging from promoting sectional interests to deep nepotism and other institutional misdeeds that has weakened the state by demoralising a broad spectrum of citizens. The stronger a people feel about their country now, the more optimistic they will be about its future prospects and the more patriotic they will tend be. People guard and cherish what they hold dear. Nigeria suffers deep vulnerabilities because most people simply do not care about its future caused once again by gross maladministration. That is the undeniable "State of Nigeria" and it is what sinks us to further depths of decay month on month, year on year. The value this government has added to Nigeria this past six years is questionable and some will say downright negative. Nigeria is undoubtedly weaker that it has ever been since 1964, 65 and into 71 to 74. |
AFvckingAlpha:Hmmm....And here was I thinking Covid 19 was a global pandemic. Now I know it affected only Catalonia and Barcelona FC specifically. |
Tom Cruise's fault, not mine. |
Not my business. Not interested in any tradition or culture. I have none. In my opinion it adds no value to me, it adds no value to my neighbour and is a source of the worst we have to offer as a nation. |
11Anonymous:Lagos is not a great destination for R&R. Little to see, lots of negatives. Its like visiting New York or Mumbai for holidays. It takes a certain kind of tourist to do that. Lagos lacks ambience and tranquillity. |
Caracta:Sorry ma'am. But as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, highly exposed to Nigeria (been to all 36 states, lived, schooled and worked in the west, north, middle-belt, south-south and south-east for a minimum of 6 years in each location) there are a few misconceptions you carry and some spot on. First of all we are financially morally deficient across board. (generations, classes, demographics, all) Yep, we are loud, boisterous, apt to speak, slow to listen and ruminate. Our cultures are ultra expressive. But no ma. Till now we do have animals all over the place. In cities, towns and villages domestication of animal husbandry is still part of the DNA of the average Nigerian. I visited an apartment building in a highbrow part of Abuja and was surprised to see poultry birds hoping up and down the staircases. You must be all too familiar with the farmers/herdsmen crises which is symptomatic of a cultural belief in the rights of animals to civil liberties. Till now human beings are still sacrificed for mystical powers and spiritual interventions in all parts of Nigeria, north to south, east to west. From grave robbing to kidnapping/murder for rituals, cannibalistic practices, underwear harvesting, and so on which are clear indications that ancient traditional occultic beliefs still hold sway. The human cadaver may not be sold at the high street supermarket or over the internet today but the statistics and incidents clearly point towards a strong underground belief. Finally and personally, I do agree with your friends that we not only eat too much, but eat very badly. What you described you ate is not just unhealthy but unsustainable and I do sincerely hope you begin to modify your diet before it becomes a habit/lifestyle. Cheers. |
Fair enough....but sir can you prove it by making another one.... just to quieten thus thunderous laughter and utter disbelief... after all the gosethat lays the golden egg surely has more in stock. |
Hmmm....they are now just 5 points above the trap door. That is just one win and a draw from relegation for their opponents or two losses for Arsenal....which they can easily deliver knowing their horrible winter performances over the years. If they cannot defeat Burnley soundly at home I cannot see where they are going to get the points to remain in the Premiership this season. It is that alarming. Arteta is just lucky there are no fans in the stadia. It will have been over for him since October. |
Things are so bad at the Emirates that even if they win the next game and all the other teams above them lose (impossible obviously), they still won't get into the top half of the league. Years ago we screamed at the club to to focus on its core mandate, the winning of trophies but they had their heads in their wallets. After the 'Invincibles' Arsenal became a trading house.... a poultry, buying up day old chicks and selling golden egg laying geese. They massively divested all their top talent and left the club an empty shell, replacing quality in each position for counterfeits. This is the result. |
...and 2 penalties today. It appears his open play goals are drying up as fast as Roger Federer's tennis prospects.... |
Hmmm....the price tag for refusing to build your own country. Not interested and never will. |
Hmmm....the price tag for refusing to build your own country. |
When the poor parents of these children send them to school instead of the traditional practices which exploit them the whole nation should sympathise and rise up to the occasion to push for for their safe return. If they cannot send their children to school we are looking at the bottom of a very deep dark hole. It will be a vicious cycle that can undermine this country for years or decades to come. Right now some parents there will be thinking aloud to themselves, exactly what the point is about seeking western education which is now threatening to bring them misery and pain. |
What kind of question is that. Can the Bible be clearer on this matter? |
translux:Makes his job also super easy. With such poor performance right now, any slight improvement will turn him into a rock star. It is that dire. |
It will not be Mr. Buhari. That I can tell. But that Mr. Sylva, that ex- Bayelsa governor....hmmm except if he's had a lobotomy. |
Mr. Balogun. On the one hand you berate those with 'personal ambition' as wrecking balls to the APC machine and in the very next para you subscribe to exactly what you see improper, taking sides and flying the kite of a particular individual. Doesn't it all sound like pissing in a cup in the morning and drawing water from it at noon. What this all means is that the previous, 2014 zoning agreement was by and large over personal ambition to which in the eyes of Mr. Equity you seek, everyone or no one is entitled to. |
Yeah, she should be 'stepped down' for a renomination as INEC chamber maid or resident parakeet. If she insists she should be sent to the National Orientation Agency for rehab. |
Just wonder what the National Assembly will be thinking now. Totally ashamed by their weakness and failures. And what about the unfortunate group of Nigerians who insist he cannot be called to account by our direct Representatives. Shame on you all. He shunned Nigerians and went home and the problem followed him there in the most poignant manner. Every citizen has a moral right to be absolutely incensed with all these. Just hours after every one of us had a unique opportunity to get a handle on things and perhaps sent a message to the security services who will no doubt have been prompted by seeing their Commander in Chief in the docks. We deserve everything we see in Nigeria. We are too weak a people to experience a better country. |
In Mr. President's own backyard. A state that has produced two Heads of State in this civilian dispensation. Fellows it is not about office or power. It is about structure that makes for real institutions. Any disease outbreak, whether cholera or crime requires a deficient environment and a compromised immune or security system. The Nigerian state is horribly weakened by the perennial malaise of ethno-religious divisions that crime is fully exposing and exploiting. |
Hahahaha....Nigeria and insecurity has attained literary levels. Talk about original Santa 'Clause'. |
The IMF like their movie counterparts are asking for the impossible. They should know that the eyes of the 'owners of Nigeria' will only light up to increased taxation but structural reforms for them is akin to losing their grip on Nigeria and a certain socio-political death sentence. Even dogged Ethan Hunt won't get them to let go of Nigeria, 'in their own image'. |
Macphenson:That is why our borders have to be shut completely with the attendant economic gravity on Nigeria at a time of recession and the truncating of trade via the ports already gridlocked....simply because of just a few items weapons, rice, etc, we lock up the 'baby with the bath water'..... or should I say shoot ourselves in the foot with the rifle of a border patrol man.... By so doing so we admit our institutions are failed and there is nothing we can do about them. If we have to shut our borders because we cannot effectively man them then we might as well scrap the NCS and spend the money elsewhere on more productive institutions and like Trump proposed, just build a wall. I call it the traffic-light syndrome to describe the often unworkable system of the Nigerian State whereby you installed a traffic light and still employ a warden because it will not be obeyed so society loses both ways. This country is just impossible. |
Where do you expect to see the infirmed if not the hospital. Anyway, that he was on stage, visible and totally surrounded by 'such a great cloud of witnesses' was by far a bigger burden on himself than anyone else. If I was him I will have given this year a miss not because of himself but for the sake of others. |
