Hmmm....stuff of a high end crime thriller... that begs Nollywood to set aside all those B-rated, half cooked romance flicks when they are not doing their customary 'village dark matter'...
Politics › Re: Femi Adesina: Umahi Can Run For President by Reference(m): 2:03pm On Dec 11, 2020
Sure he can. He is eligible and has good credentials.

But if I had a choice it will be for someone who can trigger the restructuring of Nigeria first, then my second choice will be one who can rebuild the economy of Nigeria ground up and thirdly one who can handle the challenges of capacity particularly infrastructural deficit.

Umahi fits into the third most important criteria as one who delivers in Ebonyi on a shoe string budget.

I think it is time Nigerians start electing not 'who' but what into office. We should be 'giving power' to 'what' can be done.

But I bet all around me it will about religion, ethnicity, class and every other sentimental hogwash on earth.

Wow. Another great screen and stage personality is gone....Mistress of the slap stick comedy series giving lots of laughs on the 'Carry On Series'. Will be missed by fans of British telly.

PS: If you were not part of the 80's middle class you won't know. Don't bother.

Not a thread for me. Fatty food is long gone. A few slices of cooked yam and vegs, yes. Yam flour pudding....capital no. Its a sugar bomb.

keep party politics aside,Dave umahi is one of the best governors in nigeria and the best in the south east, you may not like him or his party, but you wont deny that this man has turned ebonyi from a southern village to a highy developed state..

if only God can give us our own umahi in abia
Umm Umm...developed is a bit too much a word but the man has done very well and expended his tenure optimally. It is also a good thing he is in the APC to broaden the base of that party in the east although he is not going about it as quietly and efficiently as I would have thought. For he makes the same mistakes as Amaechi did in Rivers State and to some extent Godswill Akpabio which is to push too hard for too much too quickly.

He must realise that there is nothing he can immediately reap ahead of 2023 and should rather bid his time broadening his base particularly across eastern borders and making strategic alliances with those who are left behind by the PDP machinery. But he chose to be a bull in a China shop and this will have scared his potential friends and caused the PDP to consolidate quickly.

Great administrator, not so great a politician...
Business › Re: What Type Of Business Can I Start With ₦4M by Reference(m): 11:52am On Dec 11, 2020
telim:
4m is too small to start any reasonable business.
Exactly what I am saying. Money is the biggest hindrance. It is a killer of vision, a deterrent to inspiration and feeds the fire of impatience. You cannot succeed with money front and centre. Money has a mind of its own and will seek to roam about town. It will not be tied down waiting for you to prepare.
Business › Re: What Type Of Business Can I Start With ₦4M by Reference(m): 11:46am On Dec 11, 2020
None. Just set fire to the money and start properly by inspiration. The fact of the question is failure personified. You don't start business with money. The biggest hindrance to starting a business that WILL BE successful is money.

Properties › Re: Nigeria Needs To Incorporate Traditional Styles Into Public Architecture by Reference(m): 7:55am On Dec 11, 2020
Absolutely agree. Nigerian architecture is presently haphazard and poorly represented. If we have not developed a philosophy through the ages as a result of colonial rule and the effects on forging nationhood you will expect that the new city concept in the development of Abuja as a somewhat of a national rebirth would afford us the opportunity to project what we can call Tsditional Nigerian Architecture.

But just look at the shabby edifices called public buildings and worse still are the privately developed buildings, estates and town settlements. An aerial view of the city leaves one very disappointed.

Crime › Re: Fresh Protest In Port Harcourt As Policeman Kills Keke Driver by Reference(m): 3:08pm On Dec 10, 2020
Said it. This is the only country that does not learn from its tragedies be it a civil war of three years or a violent anti establishement riot of three weeks. The status quo will be protected by those hell bent in creating Nigeria after their own image.

Said it. It was too early to end the protests on the basis of false promises made by those who brought this country to where it is. This is the result. A country that simply does not want it differently.

Where are those, anti citizens, who vocally called for the status quo....speak up and tell us what good you can see in this.

Why is this not on the front page? 1982 - the very first World Cup I ever watched. Rossi was the name on every lip. RIP Pablito!
Here too, my first. Dad was a soccer buff and Brazil was the colour. It was absolutely terrible what that 'villian' did. Fantastic player.
Sports › Re: Paolo Rossi Dies At 64 by Reference(m): 2:55pm On Dec 10, 2020
Wow. A legend is gone.
The greatest loved-hated footballer of all time.

The soccer world will never, ever, ever forget how he almost single-handedly dismantled and demolished what is considered to be the most skilful team in soccer ever assembled, the Brazil 1982 squad to the World Cup.

Personally I have loathed Italian soccer ever since.

Great champion, great guy. Typical of Italians. From nothing to absolutely everything in a flash. The world will miss him.
Politics › Re: Osinbajo Calls For Improvement In CPI Ranking by Reference(m): 8:41am On Dec 10, 2020
Seunaj05:
We all know that Osinbajo would be a great president. Kudos to Mr Vice president for trying to strive against all odds under this very thick black cloud.
Thick black clouds he helps fanning abi. What sort of political round tripping is this? How can you extricate this man from the crushing underperformance of this government or is he serving in another government or what?...

What is wrong with you folks. In normal climes there is no way on earth anyone who has anything with this government will be able to win any popularity contest. The baggage will be just too heavy to carry. That is the incentive for performance while in government. But you folks are content with reinforcing failed people. When he gets there and repeats the failure then lamentation starts. You have not learnt your lessons on the present head of government and his 1983 antecedents. You are seeing another worked example and ignoring the facts that this man even as HOS will be a 'yes man' and will do nothing about the way Nigeria runs presently.

If the man is wonderfully competent then what is he doing in this government. If he considers he has a future in politics why soil your reputation. He should have quit after the first term to preserve his dignity and crack the glass ceiling above his head now.

If it becomes APC West the best bet is Mr. Tinubu. He has a track record of success at State level and looks a tad bolder and appears less of a conformist, tools required to confront the issues of Nigeria. Mr Veep is punching far, far below his weight in the scheme of things but we can understand that it is the nature of the beast. Today's politicians since 2003 are scared of having another Atiku besides them.

None of your business about that I guess.

Lovely. Nice architecture. A lot better than European exported archirecture for public works in the last 40 years.

Just look at the plain, uninspiring public buildings built by the likes of Berger and Bouygues. If the National Stadium (MKO Abiola) had been built by the Red Dragon, it would have looked a lot better.

Car Talk › Re: Is It Necessary To Warm Up Your Car Before Driving Off? by Reference(m): 8:44am On Dec 09, 2020
Depends on the car itself but what is most significant is for now long it has been parked. A relatively new, everyday driven car needs no warm up while one hardly driven one may require a service before turning the ignition.
Politics › Re: Buhari Cancels Scheduled Appearance Before House Of Reps by Reference(m): 8:40am On Dec 09, 2020
OlujobaSamuel:
This is where the opposition needs to come in. PDP should mobilised its members in the house to commence impeachment proceedings. All they need is 1/3 to start the process, then they should wait and see how some not so happy APC members go join the bus by either forcing the president to dance to their tune or send out the party.
The people are contented with their sufferings. They will do nothing. Look and the whole SARS scenario. What has happened since the protests. What has happened about their so called reforms. Reports from all over the country indicate the police is getting back to their usual best behaviour. I witnessed an uncouth assault by a stop and search patrol team on a couple of ladies in purdah in Abuja three weeks ago and it was just shameful.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing will happen. Nigerians are just too weak, too decadent and divided to improve their experiences in this country. Ask them what it profits them to continually shield these fellows in government from scrutiny, responsibility and accountability and they cannot point to anything. They are neither related to them or obtain any benefit from them whatsoever yet they cannot stand to be counted.

Our sufferings are not get enough for us to take action that is why these things continue to happen.

I don't understand most of the comments above.
Because Jonathan did it, it is okay for Buhari to do it and it will be okay for the next president to do it I suppose....

I have never seen a people so defeated, so unable to understand and reach for what is right. Ate you guys saying this sad tale has come to stay and we no longer have Statesmen but ethnic champions....

Then what is the point in seeking an egalitarian society. What is the point in seeking a better country if everyone is content to pissing on the flag.

Abeg, real nationalists should stand up to be counted. All I see around me are failures who just cannot help themselves and have given up on Nigeria.

No one wants to prove that he is better but only content to be less evil.
