LukasPodolski:Kwara State was established in 1967, a good 29 years or 7 democratic tenures before Ebonyi. Kwara is 53 years old while Ebonyi is 24. So donot compare apples and oranges. Find states established in 1996. That is a better yardstick for the progress described. |
ILoveDemMANNA:Oga, poverty is not caused by loss but by lack of productivity. It is a balance between income and expenditure. Losses are a constant in every aspect of life. The world will rebound from the pandemic because they have the tools for limitless productivity. Will your country follow? A dollar to N500 is not because of what is stolen but because of the imbalance between what we consume and what we produce, simple. So everything from Chinese trains, Japanese Toyota Land Cruisers, European Soccer Rights, Mikano Generating sets, and all the fancy stuff in the Shoprites of this country, all legitimate items of consumption and expenditure will continue to weigh down on our currency until we begin to domesticate them even if not a penny is stolen. Our tastes and wants and needs will always outperform all the oil and gas from the swamp and sea and all the cash crops and punny mineral ores we dig up and manage to scramble out to foreign markets including all the forex our aliens abroad remit home. We need a goverment skilled at putting Nigerians to creative, productive and import substituting work. Not chasing shadows or doling peanuts to insignificant numbers who see their newly found 'wealth' vaporise under the heat of inflation. 100 to 1 you will see people, companies, organisations and nations going broke or bankrupt because they lost their jobs and income rather than lost their properties or possessions. |
Without Sergio Ramos in that match day squad Real is as good for Europa. Only he knows about results and has a game plan for all occasions... if you know what I mean ![]() |
LikeAking:No one is seeking someone like Mr. Peter Obi to develop Nigeria. Nigeria simply cannot be developed with the present way it is constituted, ie. the way it is structured. What he brings to government are specific skills in attacking the perennial virus of rampaging government financial recklessness that has made organising society near impossible and absolutely discourages the citizenry from contributing more to the state purse by way of productivity and taxation. He is someone who walked the talk in Anambra. If elected he will know that is the basis of his ascension and will be galvanised to do same at the Federal level. The extent to which he will succeed once more depends on the overwhelming influence of the nation's structure but one thing for sure. It will be case of taste and see that the policy of government prudence can indeed work and this alone will unlock great opportunities for internal revenue generation through taxes and galvanised productivity. Right now productivity is at an all time low due to inflation, savings are nonexistent due to the exchange rate and the average Nigerian swears at taxation when he sees what government does with its treasury. We need to reverse that scenario fast to get out of this rut. The good thing about his austerity specialty is that it doesn't require prolonged application. Just a year or two will produce the necessary psychological results and the thawing of the economy. That is the extent to which the present political class is grossly mismanaging. |
Said it continuously before 2015 when he stood as running mate and as if I knew what economic tragedies were coming to Nigeria. For our economy he is the right person for the job. But with such deep, fundamental problems besetting Nigeria which always throws up bad leadership choices, it be wishful thinking to imagine it will ever happen. Sentiment will stand firmly against him. I don't think Nigerians have suffered enough to be cleansed and rid of sentiment. |
Lovely. |
dvdwed:Both he and Mr. Lawan were put there to 'shield' the President from public scrutiny. That is and has become clear even to the blind. They were selected as guarantors of this autocracy. |
Fraust40:Hmmm...then why haven't the big boys ejected the peons and built an utopia there. |
Lovely. |
The only way to improve Nigerian football where every other thing has failed is to return the senior national team to Lagos. The fans at the legendary national stadium, Surulere just donot accept poor shows or spare washed up actors. They give you 15 minutes to tickle them and come down on you like a ton of bricks when the result or display falls below expectations. At Surulere they will have straightened out Rohr by now or he will simply have fled for the hills. Enough of playing our games before timid, stary eyed crowds who are just grateful to see these B rated shows. We need the entitled Lagosian mob and their infamous straw cups of fermented urine ready to baptize the swiss-german in the dugout anytime they feel his demons loose on the game. |
No it will not, but where the employer is bankrupt you realise beggars are not choosers. |
mightyokwy:Well, sometimes you have to be saved from yourself. No doubt some poor judgement out of a poor corporate sub culture pervading financial institutions generally but the threat overall in a fragile economy is real. |
SmartPolician:I am all for the law taking its course and as a nation we must be seen to doing what is right and living by the law but we must also recognize that both entities are important industry players and everything must be done to ensure mutually assured destruction is avoided. I think the goverment should approach both parties under the table and knock heads together. The fallout of any destruction could be far reaching, beyond what is visible above the surface. |
Sometimes wisdom lies in silence... |
Tango123:Not my recommendation, just trying to explain what it is. I believe mothballs are meant for insects not rodents. |
Tango123:Those solid, whitish and queasy scenting things you normally see in urinals and wash basins of public rest rooms to keep roaches coming up through the drains. Also known as 'camphor" in those days at school You place them in your luggage and locker to prevent your stuff turning to dust by vermins. |
Huge problem. Could lead to an engine bay fire in the right circumstances. Nothing beats prevention. Rodents are creatures of habit. Once they lock on it is hard to stop. |
Just not enough quality in that squad. Legacy of years of poor player investment. The top players today were disinterested and totally discouraged by hopelessness all around them. |
AtikuNetwork:They don't deserve better. They deserve what they tolerate. They had the template, the opportunity, the inspiration of the EndSARS protest to demand for better governance when every political office holder in Nigeria was on the back foot, but they stood aloof.... |
Malawian:Birds migrate all over the world for various reasons and many cross oceans and continents. Be informed. |
All these because Nigeria is structured to be an unjust country where essentially the winner takes it all. If there were functional institutions, properly constituted checks and balances it won't matter where any single person in leadership is from. It is the rules of the game, not the players that aptly describes what kind of sport is contested. |
PDJT:Got his history wires crossed. Thought he could just come here and fly some alien story and everyone will be lapping it up. Thought when he mentioned China, every bit of their history is text book stuff for study and positive learning. Just like saying under Stalin or Hitler Russia and Germany became superpowers and advanced tremendously in industrial development. Yes, they did, most certainly but at what cost, at what loss of every other aspect of life and living. And are those what you can call success stories worthy of emulating. No matter how high a success story is or how deep a failed narrative has become there are always bit parts to study and follow after and parts to discard and forget in a hurry. That is where the intelligent minds of competent leaders come into play. |
Jashub:I get tons of unsolicited messages daily. Simply do not answer or reply. If the other party is objective more information will come through. |
Where are the team 'lynching', team "spare the rod'. Physical violence has never and will never solve anything on earth. Millions of lives have been lost to mindless, needless violence through the ages. Has not made mankind any better. |
thebosstrevor1:Yep. The ones that will set off alarm bells when the product leaves the threshold without signing off. 200k for an unsecured, handy product in a shop is just asking for trouble. Hope they are insured? |
Hmmm...this woman should take it easy and thread with wisdom before this is turned to another thing. The tongue is very powerful and can set a forest alight says the holy books. It is one thing to oppose civil administrations, quite another to take on religious establishments. |
If Nigeria were to be properly structured you will see leaders crisscrossing the country negotiating and doing deals to enhance the welfare of their people. Solidarity will become critical to survival not like the present zero sum game we play whereby it is all or none with no way a typical state can create an economy independent of the federation. No state can independently raise the quality of life of its citizenry so no competitive spirit that bonds the nation is generated. We really need to restructure Nigeria for these sickening ethnocentric battles of supremacy to end once and for all. We are sinking in our mental sewage. Let us create a country where spoils are created not fought over. |
DennisEche:Hmmmm....what can I say... |
But what is so hard in maintaining, repairing, replacing or upgrading such a bridge that quite frankly doesn't look more than 50 metres long. Why is it that we lack capacity to collectively cater for basic public works and infrastructure. Does it mean that there isn't a civil engineer with rudimentary knowledge working in that local government sphere? Does he not regularly inspect infrastructure with his ambit. Will he not give warnings of impending challenges and can he together with authorities mobilised basic tools and labour to fix things.... Why are we this lethargic about our common wealth, our collective prosperity. And I say collective with all emphasis because I bet that truck carrying granular material that finally broke the camel's back was probably headed to the heavenly mansion of a so called big man, probably the castle of a government official when it met with this mishap. |
Thieves. Threatening us with lies to extract money. What is the penalty for extortion again in Nigeria. They should fly them into the Presidential wing and park them in a warehouse there until we get serious. Enough of this bull. Ask Umahi how much it cost him to lay those concrete strip roads he built all over Ebonyi. By the way how much tarmac does a turboprop light strike aircraft need to operate, a machine of war requiring 'hotel care' or 'hospital upkeep" is just scandalous. They think we are ignorant. In time of war let me see the quality of runways the air force will have. Nonsense thieves. It is the 9 billion they want. |
If it were in Nigeria it will take ages to 'arrange' the funeral. There within a week or two it is sorted out where the cause of death is determined. Sorted out with no further ado no matter the status of the deceased in society, even kings and royalty. Here my senior driver has been trying to sort out his father's funeral for the best part of three months since lockdown was lifted. The man passed on in February and the bills are piling up while they squabble over red tape. We are a unique specie of people on earth, we Nigerians. The only ones that have 'culture'. |
For a so called front runner and just 30 months to the elections we expect to hear more from him about the state of the nation and a framework leading out of the myriad of problems besetting Nigeria. The welfare of Nigeria and Nigerians is the pre-eminent purpose of democracy and anyone seeking to lead cannot and should not hold back from expressing, inspiring, advising and envisioning. Today we have a leader at the centre that is anything but charismatic. A leader that cannot inspire performance or motivate sacrifice. We donot need another and we donot need a three month pre election comedy skit aka political campaign. We need our potential, future leaders to start early with us because the road to recover Nigeria from this goverment will be long and hard and we need time to 'talk', discuss, negotiate with them. Mr. Tinubu is a leading candidate and should begin to lead indeed. |
