This is nonsense. Is the newspaper owner a general in the army or is the press now invited to operational planning meetings. How did they get this information. The leak in the military is where they should take action, not the press. I repeat. The invasion of civil, non theatre spaces by the military is just a step away from the dark days of coups and militocracy where radio stations and telecommunication centres were targeted. Whoever ordered this should be charged and made to face the law. The military should never be permitted to unilaterally invade the civil space. To condone this will result in a worse action the next time as they may just be testing the waters. |
So in effect the Governor has a 20,000 strong army at his disposal.... ![]() Just think about that for a minute. |
But if the military can invade the premises of a news agency what stops them from entering any premises for that matter, confiscating any property they so desire and arresting whoever they so wish. Under which laws have they done this. There is no staye of emergency in Bornu and even if there was, no one has appointed them to oversee the civilian space. If they have a critic in The Bornu Staye Government House will they storm it too. What if the antagonist resides in Abuja, will they storm there too. They are not only to withdraw from that premises but whoever ordered that invasion should be arrested immediately and charged for this dangerous act. Soldiers must not be found in the civilian space. And have no right to adjudicate in what are purely civilian matters. They have a legal department and can make a complaint to the DPP against the said publication and/or media house. War is no excuse for lawlessness. And should not be used by the military to creep back into governance. |
kayusely70: ... because he is decoupling himself from the Tinubu bandwagon. Does Mr. Buhari look in anyway to you like a career politician. Do you think in a million years he cares what happens beyond his election and ascension to power. What makes you think he has any long term plans for the APC.Your type turned a deaf ear when folks were up in arms crying 'cabal', 'cabal hijack', 'cabal rule'. You played the ostrich to the fact that his folks were just there for the here and now and hopefully to clean up before his tenure runs its course. Sorry but your Tinubu used his name to extend his influence all the way to Abuja and Mr. President used your Jagaban to climb to the throne. Both sides were used so you better shut it and trash your so called respect and dare not antagonise Mr. President if not your Jagaban will be in for it once the elections are over. I dare Mr. Jagaban to talk... this is pure CPC business. |
festacman:Just sick of the whole thing. If the opposition PDP is not ready to take on real issues even the terribly obvious ones like the NLC and ASUU quagmires (bread and butter for a serious capital seeking opposition party) then I have to admit and reinforce my earlier assertion that it is better we continue with the ruling APC. The status quo ante no matter how bad will be better than this uncertainty created right now in the polity. We will be best advised to avoid the instability an unserious contestant will bring to the process. Just annoyed with all of this. Just 40 days to go and this is what is trending.... Am disappointed in Nigerians walahi. You can imagine what the international community is thinking. Are these people serious about building a country at all. |
dane15:He simply disobeyed.. Mark you Adam was created perfect by the same Word (Jesus) that came later as the Christ to carry out a total overhaul of man. So all men are either Adam the Creation/Redeemed or Adam the fallen. I don't think there is a third model of man. We have to be very careful of this eternal salvation thing. The whole life of a Christian can be summarised as a RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. The quality of which will speak at the end. I detect a desire to transfer total liability to God of our lives here on earth. This is mistaken. God is no longer in charge of the earth. Man had given the C of O away to Satan. |
Had this discussion with some folks over the holidays and my take on this is simple in the light of my desire to always explain things with practical analogy. If Mr. James Audu begets a son John Audu, on what terms does Mr. John cease to become a son of Mr. James. Virtually none. You simply cannot undo it. You can disown, excommunicated or even deny inheritance but you cannot deny birth. The person remains your son till death or till the world ends The question then each Christian should ask is not what his relationship is with God but where the relationship is with God. And I think this is the whole basis of Creation. Adam did not lose his physical life when God said he would die but what he lost was that relationship and all.the benefits accruable. Then life becomes meaningless in the least and may become hellish in the other extreme. Many writers have attesed to this fact that the Heaven and Hell we often profess is nothing more than the permanent presence or absence of God in a set scenario. Such that heaven will be a place or state where he will be permanently in charge so rwturning us to the defacto Garden of Eden with all its benefits of eternal life in health, peace, abundance and Holiness while hell is simply a place where Satan rules supreme with all his attributes in full flow without the air-conditioning of God's grace permanently. (One certainly does not want to be there). So when you put the two together you may have to reconsider that the fact that you bear a Name born to King does not necessarily mean your experiences will be palatial or you may end up a Prince. You may still be left out of the will. I will take the teaching of eternal salvation with all possible caution and work out my salvation as the scriptures say with FEAR AND TREMBLING. Seeking to ensure that the relationship is never taken for granted. That is the humility expected of a father/son or master/servant relationship. The humility a true believer should have. |
lalanice:That is all they know. Money without values... the 'Malaysian based billionaire crew'... soon to be deceased at the colds hands of the reprobate. |
StevenOba:Learn more about your history my friend. They were all corrupt including Mr. Buhari and the late Murtala Mohammed. Corruption affected all Nigerian leaders since independence. None was spared. The only difference was tenure, opportunity and publicity. |
I will register to vote when my fellow citizens are ready to link voting with the ability to change a nation's fortunes. Which means I may never vote in my lifetime. But I will continue to speak so that those who do see the effects of their actions and consider their ways. I will just not join hands with the majority to consistently ruin this country. |
Another one. Another distraction. Why are Nigerians this ignorant. When they are most virile, most powerful they choose to sleep and let the narrative be stolen away from.the failings of their leaders and replaced with worthless propaganda. Nigerians are like the couple who look for the fruit of the womb for many years but schedule fasting and prayers whenever the cycle of the woman is at hand. Who is doing this bad thing to the people of Kaduna and Nigerians in general. Is his hair going to deliver security, good governance, reasonable infrastructure, employment, etc.... This is annoying. |
This Reno chap has become a serious nuisance with all these nonsensical tantrums and I appeal to (real) Nigerians to focus instead on matters that affect them and channel their energies towards issues not personalities. Elections are at hand. No firm orders have been placed by the citizens, no concrete promises made for the next four years by the contenders, no agreements reached by the two parties. This is so sad. |
I hope this puts an end to this unfortunate saga and enables us move forward for goodness sake. What the PDP and other protagonists should realise that the controversy generated so far will ensure the lady in question is scrutinized to very serious levels that will not enable underhand dealings. What the Presidency and the APC should realise is that the wolf cry is expected in an atmosphere of deep suspicion brought about by numerous cases of wanton disregard for the Federal character in key appointments and outright nepotism that has endangered many an instituion across the breath of Nigeria. They had this coming in short... and have no one but themselves to blame. Confidence is way down. |
Chizuru01:On another thread Amaechi is cross that the Chinese are not speeding up on the Lagos Intercity rail line due to the insufficient hands they have on the job and the delay in receiving critical components. Put these two scenarios together: Government wants our youth to invest their time and treasure in gambling, while the same government gives the jobs of providing critical infrastructure to those who are apparently either not willing or donot consider it important. Vision will integrate the two. No nation develops by outsourcing its critical infrastructure. No society can develop if its youth are not at the forefront of developing its critical infrastructure. How our leaders are so blind to the obvious baffles me completely. We can build Nigeria and end unemployment in one fell swoop if we just tweak a little the way we think in this country. How are our people going to learn the basic values of hardwork and productivity if we continue with this model of rent seeking. Pity. |
Mayweather can you read this.... |
Liliyann:Do some of the underage ladies complain when they drop their knickers for a candy bar.... but society totally condemns it as perversion and exploitation of minors but obviously you have very different standards for the male child and the female child, so typical of feminism. |
ebujany:Perhaps the land cost was factored in... who knows... |
... well you know what bloggers are known for so when he says 50million I don't expect these kneejerk reactions.... its all in a day's work.. |
Over the Hill and far, far away.... |
theoldpretender:There is no interference in criminal matters. And this particular FIFA has less tolerance for corruption than its predecessor. The Deputy Sec. Gen. will simply take charge and the administration continues. Interference means the whole organisation been outlawed by the host country's government. This is not the case. |
Good administrator but just cannot defend himself against the disease ravaging Nigeria for generations, corruption. This is the story of Nigeria. A system, a country that consumes its citizens and spoils the best of her fruits. Only restructuring can truly change this sad narrative. |
Jonathan:He cannot be doing any serious investment. People who invest simply do not have enough to invest hence they spend miserably. Real investment is as powerful as a spiritual conviction.... not a playful pastime. |
Perhaps my destination for the next holidays. 2017 was in Calabar for the carnival, disappointed. Last year was in Lagos for Christmas... couldn't wait to return... just terrible. Nigeria is a tough place to live in. Certainly not tourism friendly. But I will keep at it. |
I suppose the principle of buoyancy is at work. The body we are told consists 70 percent water by weight. These are held in the tissue by the mechanics of circulation. When circulation stops in death the body begins to shed this water and at the same time the breakdown of organic matter (decay) releases gases into the body cavity, both processes cause a positive buoyancy and the body floats. My 2 cents. |
olujastro:Nigerians have lost out and the foolish ones are busy distracting the very people who should be laying out agendas for the next four years with useless vitriol and propaganda instead of demanding firm comittments. The elections will come and go and nothing, absolutely nothing will be set in concrete. Truly, blessed are those who expect nothing for they shall not be disappointed. Someone looking at ghe crowd even went as far as saying that the incumbent doesn't need to campaign. You can imagine what ignorance can do to a people. He doesn't even know what campaigns are all about. If this was election year in the United States we all know how the leading candidates will be out and about from city to county and the political wars will all be about jobs, immigration, gun rights, etc, things that matter to them. The average Nigerian on the other hand will prefer to hide the things that matter to him to give his master a free pass simply because of sentiment. Today the President is not even bothered about campaigning. His main rival is missing... and no one is bothered. We are in serious straits in Nigeria. What can break this vicious cycle of depravity abeg. |
hedonistic:So vain a people. Other worlds apart they celebrate accomplishments in service to humanity, here we celebrate the products of their accomplishments in objects and things.... perpetual idol worshippers. Can we see why it was so easy for the black man to be led into slavery. It is in our DNA, the lure of crass materialism. The most valauble item in Nigeria today is female under garments, yet we believe society is alright. |
Dandsome:Are you serious... wow.. |
madridguy:Is he not telling the truth. Man, you need to travel round Nigeria. Things are really, really bad. Have just been to Lagos and a bit of Ogun state for the Christmas holidays... people are really suffering. I was shocked. |
Princedapace:But on a serious note. What we do not need now is another change of government. When you are on a cliff edge in a bus about to tip over into the abyss, the last thing you want to do is jump to safety. You rather tiptoe. If Nigeria enters into another round of uncertainty then recession is the most likely scenario. Things are desperately bad now but we may not be able to survive another politcal surgery right now. The Buhari led government may be the safest bet for 2019. When I think of a country like Italy and the way it changes its government like traffic lights at the slightest hint of citizen disapproval, it is no surprise they are one of the non performing euro economies of the last half millenia. It may be better that we keep this government for another four years but strengthen the Legialature to act as a counter weight and performance primer. |
Lordofthewest:What does the average civil servant do for me. That is what I want to know. Do they farm, do they drill oil, do they build roads, do they mine kaolin, do they provide electricity, do they bottle coca cola. What do they do that all other Nigerians cannot or are not doing right now for themselves. Answer. They clear out 70 percent of the budget every year for what returns...and they still want more and more... The simple task of government is to organise society not to exploit and run it down. The takings of the American civil service is less than 5 percent. in Nigeria it is 70 percent. For what. That is why when you tell them restructure they resist it with all the fiber in their souls because they know it will spell the end of the easy life of patronage that begets corruption as its first born. If you are not satisfied I dare you to resign and face the real world of competition and meritocracy where you will sweat out creative ideas to make a penny. Not constantly disturbing us with pity patty stories of phoney economic hardship as if you folks know wh0at real hardship you help to forment is. |
Lordofthewest:Abeg shut it. Have you seen this year's budget and how much is allocated to recurrent expenditure, that is the astronomical cost of supervising this country versus the paltry capital expenditure, that is the amount the government is willing to invest in ourr future. Do we exist for the government and civil servants or does the government exist and civil servants employed to work for us. I totally oppose any increase outside the economic levels of the average Nigerians. Civil servants cannot be held in isolation from the reality of Nigeria. It is they who superintend on the economic woes we face that has affected everyone, not just them. Let the government find out the minimum wage in the real Nigeria which stands at a dollar a day and pay them that. Anyone who cannot accept it should voluntarily leave. Nonsense. Let any civil servant come out boldly and tell me what he or she does for a living that is so, so critical to my existence and survival as a Nigerian and I will show him or her a dozen cheaper alternatives that currently work in this country where you provide everything for yourself while so called government feeds fat on you. |
042rebel:Heard this too. Italian Pierluigi Collina is widely considered to be the best referee of all time. In his heyday if Italy for instance got to the finals of a world cup against Nigeria what do you think Nigeria or CAF if Mr. Collina was appointed to umpire the game. Will FIFA say, "oh he is the best so we are sure he will be unbiased, carry on or if you don't like it withdraw from the match". Or, FIFa will say, "well it is not our fault that Mr. Collina is this good, it was the IFFHS that has been promoting him and he is emminently qualified so...." My understanding is, by doing that FIFA will only be undermining itself and putting its institution into disrepute evem before a ball has been kicked. As a matter of fact they wil not only go out of their way to make sure such a scenario never arises but investigate every possibility of compromise both in deed and in thought. They will make sure not only is the referee not from the same country but if possible not from the same continent as both contenders and will further make sure his country of origin was not knocked out by anyone of the finalists on their way to the finals... for what you may ask. So that every decision of the referee is scrutinized for ONLY footballing reasons. That is an organisation that knows what INTEGRITY is called. And that is why it is respected. And that is why it prospers. The government must not only be doing what is morally right but be seen to be doing what is morally acceptable to all, and not just the 50 percentile its supporters accept. |
