Then why not legalize the ownership of firearms since the state has admitted failure. We continue to sink to lower depths of governance week after week. What was the campaign promises again. Just so unfortunate we don't have viable political opposition. This is one of the biggest challenges we face. We are in dire need of new ideas. |
Nobody obeys any laws in the country. From the HOS through his Chief of Police and now the other ranks that just kill wantonly. And Nigerians see nothing wrong in all the so called 'shows of power' from Abuja to Portharcourt where the slaughter and mayhem continues.... |
Why not. They have jailed everyone that can speak out and the rest are hiding. The coast is now clear for Alibaba. Once again, by 2019, everyone will be demystified...hmm... even my tablet knows that. All I need to type is 'by 2019'.... |
Disgusting...shameful. Mediocrity for sale. |
cooljoe:Its more than having enough money to provide for themselves. The laws and constitution of our country severely limits what the citizen can buy and own within the fabric of the micro and macro evonomic society. They can buy cars for themselves but they cannot build roads to driven them on, they can buy gasoline but they cannot prospect for oil, refine it or subsidize its import, they can build houses but they cannot create land, they can pay tuition but they cannot easily build schools and pay teachers, and on and on. Moreover at 9 to 1 children parent ratio, the quality of offspring are likely to decline with regards to education, prosperity, character and values. It is just not wise. There are sound and cogent reasons population growth is declining throughout the developed world. |
DP. |
Causing severe problems in Nigeria by over labouring our already hapless socio-economic system. And they will be the first to complain about the ill effects of overpopulation. |
humblenature:When the Inspector General can't even read in English. And someone will say here that Nigeria is progressing.... deceiving themselves. |
Pentools:He's done with Atletico and perhaps football as a whole after this match I am made to understand. |
Atletico Madrid. Specialists in Anti-Football. Welldone. To have a Diego Simeone and Jose Mourinho in the EPL will be catastrophic if Diego is given the Arsenal job. Na so so 0-0, 0-1, 1-0 scores we go dey see.... ![]() |
Jesusloveyou:'The fear of....' is not democratic terminology. What you admit is a clear slide to full blown dictatorship. I'm afraid PMB's legacy he tried so hard to revive through the ballot after the debacle of the 80's is being eroded once again. I just don't why these fellows cannot just focus on governance for just one week at a stretch. One week, one scandal. |
... Gowon s there too....honestly this country sef. |
deepwater:What ignorant people. They should come back here and better their country as a means to improving themselves now they have done a refresher course on what good governance is. My lady, herdsmen from Mali, Niger and Gaddafi's village roaming around and pillaging should be deported similarly. You can imagine if their people at home sit down and say, 'who will be importing our cows and AK-47's for us....' Abeg people should just sit at home, sort out their issues and move on. If Germany or other countries need our talents or investment they will solicit for them through the right channels and Nigeria will benefit directly the way Germany benefits from Julius Berger, ABB, etc and south africa benefits from MTN, DSTV, etc. Not the ones that are net liabilities to an alreeady hapless country. |
shortgun:'sitting ducks' you mean. |
This is what we say. Just obey court orders and respect institutions if you want them strengthened and established as a legacy for when you want them to work for you in future. Let those who continue to flout court orders continue. Their perceived strenghts will be revealed for weaknesses when they seek the same institutions to aid them in the future. |
Donald Trump commits pejury, lies incessantly, evades taxes, bonked hookers and every conceivable crime against the constitution and all decency, yet the perception of America as a wholesome society has not worsened. The society is not more corrupt than before he arrived. Trump does not need to fight corruption. Infact he is the most investigated President since Richard Nixon on account of his endless indiscretions. President Buhari please build institutions and go to bed. Once you are out of office, just like his predecessor, Mr Superman Magu will flee Nigeria for fear of the backlash to come on account of his politicking. How many judges do you know who have run away. None, because they are an institution. Mr. President seperate yourself from institutions and help to build them. You cannot fight corruption alone. You can never win. |
ManirBK:It will be easy to fight if institutions are allowed to function properly. It will be easy to fight if the courts are allowed to function without interference and court orders obeyed. It will be easy if the head hunter is apolitical and not an appointed lapdog of the HOS. And simce all these cannot be possible witgout restructuring which the owners of Nigeria resist at all costs, things will continue to be hard for them and their citizens. Did I not say three years ago that in this structure corruption can never be defeated. As a two time Head of State it is regretable that President Buhari is just knowing this. |
Abagworo:Of course there is corruption every wia. |
kashman001:He is not bold, courageous, impartial or ethical. If he has he should show one case of corruption initiated against the executive. And don't talk Babachir Lawal who was removed due to unprecedented pressure by the Legislature. Courage is not standing against those weaker than you. Courage is standing against those equal or more powerful than you. Let him try APC bigwigs or retired generals. Picking on hapless, hopeless PDP stragglers is no courage. |
SBG04:Oga. You cannot be free of corruption with a badge of a personality on your chest. Prosecutors are next to the blindfolded lady with a sword and scales in either hand. No wonder the corruption index is worsening. |
Shameful. Africans and their inability to build institutions. Does this man know the power he wields exceeds that of the President. J. Edgar Hoover will be shaking his head right now wishing God could give him another chance in life at this. |
biacan:It is not about business and money. You can have all that and still be empty. It is about building the mind and values. That crucial process will equip you to make right choices, right decisions even when in trouble. Hopelessness and hekplessness is the worst form of slavery. Our young ladies should realise that they have to work twice as hard to empower themselves since creation leaves them with a mental deficit at birth with the way the world is presently structured. But all you see today is the quest for flair, fashion and fun. |
Where is that chap always posting pictures of Anambra civil works versus Kano or Lagos. He should come here and update his portfolio. Apparently all that glitters is.... not in Kano. |
progress69:Trying hard to tie Boko Haram with herdsmenace will not wash. Trying to stonewall against replies shows you know you are dishonest to yourself. The reasons why Jonathan could not tackle Boko Haram effectively was political expediency. Having been (s)elected to appease the restive Niger Delta, there was no way he was going to act violently in the north without recriminations and he wasn't prepared to give up political capital from that region the was the present C in C has done in the east and south withthe IPOB debacle. Jonathan did not realise he was facing a catch 22 situation. Act and be damned, not act and be damned. He realised late that any decision at all was better than none or indecision. Political naivety cost him. |
sanpipita:Okay, this government has done nothing. They don't even have a Ministry of Aviation.... satisfied.... What is the gain in all this. But let me tell you this. The Chinese will not have signed if they thought the project would not continue post government tenure. As a citizen of Nigeria you should be wary about sending the right signals by declaring your country open always for business and not just when it has a President or political party you like. Please draw clear lines between politics and governance. |
e7ejinima:They have started a few rail projects they are obviously not going to complete. Do you want them or not. Quit playing politics with development. The quality of politicking is to enhance governance not to destroy it. Remember it is a cycle and your preferred candidate could be at the wrong end of unfair angst some day. Ask the APC. They never knew propaganda could turn so badly. |
yeyerolling:But when you spend 3, 6, 8 hours in traffic jams you gain economicaly eh. So cities with mass transit systems are foolish. I don't even know where to start to argue with you because this is just embarrassing. You want investors to come and set up shop in our cities to produce goods and services to compete with the world where the ease of doing business (including sound infrastructure is paramount) and a city rail system is 'a useless project that has little economic value'. I am sure you're the type sold out on the fable that rural agriculture alone will make Nigeria a Singapore by 2020. Well done. |
Rekeb:Thank you. The London undeground is over a hundred years old and has cost trillions in todays money. It is still being expanded and improved as we speak. Along its chequered history there were several governments investing, several contractors building, several accidents, failures, thefts, embezzlements, etc..... the objective was always to have cheaper, better and more efficient publuc transport. That above all considerations should prevail. It takes visionary leadership to follow through. Unfortunately ours are just myopic, shortsighted egocentrics. |
This is one aspect I thoroughly criticise Wike for. No matter the personal or political differences with his predecessor, this project should have been viewed above all those as a social and economic vehicle of development. Yes it was perhaps overbloated and shrouded in corruption but contracts could be cancelled and contractors replaced if need be, but to abandon such a noble project sends the wrong signals particularly to those with an eye to interfacing public private sector investment. Talking about private sector involvement, I think this maybe the best route for such capital, long term investments where government's interest is unsustainable. It will have saved and conyinued this project. It will have berthed Tinapa. Government is just so piss poor when it comes to long term strategic thinking. |
Factfinder1:These are not yoruba marks, perhaps middlebelt and from the very fair skin perhaps Igala. |
Gosh |
sanpipita:The media guy admitted that the projects were started by the previous government. Please let us be sensible here and not cut our noses to spite our faces. Serious capital projects cannot be started and completed in political cycles. There are certain projects Buhari will start and not complete before his tenure is over even if he wins a second term. Continuum is the hallmark of democracy and if we continue these types of infantile squabbles we tacityly encourage leaders to sit tight, win re-elections at all costs and dictatorships. Let us begin to attune our commendation and condemnation to policies and programs rather than projects. For goodness sake airports are built by individuals abroad. Elon Musk is sending rockets to space, haba. |

This is why as a lady you need to build yourself up before getting married to avoid all this kind of stories..... I bet if she have her own money or business she would have been out of the marriage long time before now.....But your husband giving you half cup though
