ochallo: The above was reported by a witness who went with the aircraft to Abuja before its returned back to lagos.Sir, there are reports that the American Accident & Investigation Board are at hand. Take all the evidence you have (next time if you have you phone take a few shots so you can upload it to their website) and reach out to them directly. Any evidence at this stage, verbal, written, pictoral is pure gold. Any conversation you had with their staff can lead to the smoking gun and save lives. Remember, it is your duty. |
jerseyboy: I flew on Dana on a few occasions mainly because they have a reputation for being on time. I complained about the age of the planes and the rattles particularly on takeoffs and landings. Was assured by the MD that the engines were all newly refurbished and so were as good as new and that the engines are what matters in a plane. The last time I flew it a few weeks back I observed to the pilot that the engine might be ‘new’ but what about the chassis? He laughed. The problem with the MD series particularly the 80 is essentially a design one. Am afraid there's nothing that can be done. It is inherently an unstable plane and prone to stalling at low speeds. All rear engined aircraft do. No leading manufacturer builds rear engined aircraft anymore. They are just problematic. |
jerseyboy: No airline (except Air France) has survived after a major crash. Don't matter. DANA is gone.C'mon. There's no major airline that has not experienced losses, not even in aviation, in all of transport whether road, rail or shipping. Its like saying every bottle of coke ever made was perfect. Perfection is rightly sought but to err is human. To survive, lessons have to be properly learnt. This is one of the telling differences that explains why a lot of foreign airlines survive even multiple variable incidents while their Nigerian counterparts make the same kinds of mistakes and go under. |
Jakumo: Crux 945 that is one truly damning litany of design-induced crashes by MD planes. Most of the world's MD8- passenger jets have made ther last ever landing at that sprawling airplane junkyard in the Arizona desert, awaiting that giant mechanical claw that will rip the planes asunder, to recycle fuselages into beer-cans. It is to that final resting place for metal birds that Nigerian entrepreneurs, flush with dirty money, decend like so many buzzards, to pick over and cannibalize the corroding remains of planes until they can assemble something fit for the translantic flight to Lagos Nigeria, where a new life as an un-maintained death-trap awaits the rusting MD.Bros be careful before you are accused of 'unfounded inflamatory utterances'. Why any airline should be flying an MD with its more than eventful history just beats my imagination. As for me I have told those I care about. Buy tickets from airlines that publish the type of aircraft on offer. If it is a DC, B727, B737<300 just move on. Its just not worth it. Such aircraft are only suitable for cargo like the one that crashed at Accra on Sat. If the government is not ready to check and implement standards, I think the public should. The days of ignorance are going gradually. |
crackhouse: business continues. Na so life be.Not even a hint of caution by Dana that says 'hold on, what did we do wrong', what happened, let's analyse the situation quickly. If this is true then perhaps they know what went down and are sufficiently confident their fleet, crew and support systems are all in shape. |
Wow, such a sad loss. Man, so sorry. Take heart. May her soul rest in peace. |
temmytanny: Aero airlines have bn here 4decades and no crash.atleast we stil av some airlines to relyJust like saying there is a model of automobile that I have never seen in the mechanic garage. That is pure fantasy. There are many things that can bring down an aircraft. A machine of 30,000+ parts most of which are very reliable but some of which seldom give warnings. I will even venture that every crash is responsible for the better safety records of proceeding aircraft and airlines so at a time like this there is nothing to boast about but to learn lessons to better the future for others. No one will live for ever neither will any record stand for eternity. |
crowaddy: So your are part of the gang of murderers that we have walking around in our country today! Why didt u shout out them? Of what use is this information to the family that lost 4 members today? That is corporate Nigeria for you. They will lie, cheat, falsify, steal and do all manner of evil then scream about government corruption. If bankers are behind an average venture you can almost be certain a corner has been chaffed. Its always all about the money. Good, you were part of the deal to bring coffins into Nigeria and you earn a salary. I hope you sleep well tonight. Righteousness (doing the right thing) exalts a nation, sin (doing the wrong thing) is a reproach (dumping flaming metal onto houses) to the people. Now you have spoken. In your own interest you better disclose every aircraft that was purchased in such manner so they can be properly checked out before one crash becomes two. It is your duty. |
HAminat: "Plane crash..NTA Is showingDisgusting, hopeless people. |
afam4eva: I guess we may never get to know what happened on that flight because it seems there are no survivors. They were on final approach. Probably in visual contact with the tower and with all the radio contact surely they will know. The only two things that can cause a sudden crash so close to the runway without giving time for an emergency relay is either a catastrophic structural failure - horizontal stabilize, engine disengagement or a weather shear phenomenon called a microburst like the type that brought the Bellview flight out of Abuja a few years ago. Most other things will give the pilot time to at least radio an emergency. |
initiate: and why is this news only on social media? all the tv stations in Lagos are showing different programs! irresponsible pressThey completely disgust me. I mean completely disgust me. Doing all sort of nonsense. Showing quiz programs, musicals and of course recorded government propaganda. Our mediocrity in this country is second to none. |
Wallie: Just lost a brother!Wow, so sorry. |
I suppose its too early to have the manifest public yet. Guess the NoK will be contacted first. Can anyone snoop NCAA for us please. |
Mzsolex: what the f.uck is wrong with you, what has direction got 2 do with the situation on ground.Man, it is important. There's one phone outstanding that isn't going. But I'm not assuming anything just yet. It can be embarassing you know. |
valacious: Can someone pls confirm location of where the plane is coming from or going to.To have crashed at Agege it had to be an approach into Lagos so I suppose Abuja was the correct departure. If it was outbound it will come down south of the airport - anywhere from Ishaga up to Ota as it turns north. If going east it will make a left turn over Apapa and flatten out over Lekki as it exits over the Atlantic. |
Men, why would anyone keep his phone off at this time. Why. |
If you should be in or around the incident. This is not the time to switch off your phone. |
No TV station is taking this news nationally right now. This country is vile. |
naylove: Does anyone know if there are any survivors? This is sad.Dear God please help usNCAA confirms no survivors. Funny. When most folks thought budget air taxi - Aero will probably come a cropper first. My apologies and sympathies. |
I could easily have been on that flight. Thanks to GTB for messing me up. Wow. |
Namibian goal line a market place now. Another scrambled clearance. This is goal less at half time. |
Utaka heading over right on the goal line under pressure. Another chance gone. |
The strikers have been wasteful but I think the Eagles are top heavy. The strikers are required to fall back too deep. The midfield needs more pep. |
The Namibians are pressed to their own half. Eagles in total control. |
sensisosu: We are actually a goal down36 minutes. Nil - Nil please. |
What! Ike Uche again. Blasting over from 6 yards after a Victor Moses drive into the box. |
Utaka had netted but the ball had crossed to touch so was ruled foul. |
Ike hit the foot of the post again. The Eagles are waking up. |
ZUBY77: Keshi the mesiah is one goal down.Which match are you watching. |
Good one, Ike Uche. The ref had better wake up. Some of these tackles are very rough. |
The pitch is very, very poor. Can't even cut the grass. Is there no one out there who realises we need fluidity, pace and goals. The ball keeps hanging. Haba. |
