With due respect to ex - President Jonathan, he recorded marginal improvements in Agriculture and youth empowerment. His records in other sectors if any, pale into insignificance against the backdrop of financial resources that accrued to the nation under his watch. He was a good man with good plans. But he was a poor manager of people and resources. |
Ogbeni Femi Fani - Kayode, stop composing poems and essays crying wolf. The innocent know no fear. You are not a hero or a political prisoner of conscience so stop trying to paint yourself as one. You are a suspect in a crime so If they arrest you, go and answer them and clear your name. You and your ilk both in the present and past governments, are responsible for the mess of a country we have now. So do not expect to find any sympathy in me for your so - called travails. Me and numerous other Nigerians are struggling to make sense of the mess that you and your fellow political profiteers have created. We are too engrossed with trying to make a life to feel sorry for you. You are no better than the common man who is jailed 20 years by our corrupt judicial system for stealing bread to quench the pangs of hunger. If you do the crime, you must do the time. You sir, are not above the law!!! |
delishpot:Mr Fani Kayode is under investigations by the EFCC for alleged financial crimes. It is normal to place all bank accounts connected to him in any way under watch. The banks have an obligation under the mo el laundering and other financial crimes act to immediately call in law enforcement when such an account is operated. Mrs. Fani Kayode did no wrong going into a bank to operate an account...even though her decision to do so in Ekiti rather than the numerous branches that dot Abuja raises some suspicion. The bank also did no wrong by calling in the police. The EFCC did no wrong by putting a check on the account...that is standard procedure in a financial crime investigation. It is unfortunate that the madam had her baby with her when she was detained. That unfortunately couldn't be helped. What is wrong is for the governor of a state to interfere and prevent law enforcement from carrying out their lawful duties and for anyone to try and work in the emotions of having a woman and a baby in detention. Methinks the uproar would have been more if mother and child had been separated. |
DavidTheGeek:...and while you were typing yours, it did not occur to you that it is strange that she chose to access the account from Ekiti? What happened to the branches in Abuja? |
So let me get this straight. Mrs. Fani Kayode went to "visit" Governor Fayose in Ekiti. Then on her way back home, she saw this Access Bank branch and since she was short of transport money and running low on food for Aragorn, she suddenly remembers this account that has been dormant for years but is on EFCC watchlist. Not to mention that she had withdrawal documents for this "dormant" account...it is possible she carries those around ![]() The bank calls the Police as they ought to when there is an attempted transaction on an account under watch and gomina Fayose steps in and intervenes (intefered more like). Naija sha!!! |
BeeBeeOoh:I don't understand the point of this bill. Presently, a judge cannot be removed without the recommendation of the NJC. That means the President currently cannot sack any judge without the NJC's say so. So how much more involved can the NJC be than that? |
Very good from the PDP. Hopefully, the people in the area will work out a better way of disposing of their waste instead of dumping them on the road and waiting for government to come clear it. |
cktheluckyman:This report is obviously a figment of the writer's fertile imagination and the fact that some people on this thread actually believe this implausible tale is very disturbing. |
ivandragon:Well it wouldn't be a "safe" now if it is so easy to "burst" into would it? Safes arent designed to be easily broken into. I bet you missed the part where they said they would have to relocate the safe to Abuja so as to be able to access it. |
morereb10:Absolute nonsense! |
This journalist "observed" that "INEC in conjunction with APC leaders" have doctored results after been let into the collation centre at 4am to set up equipment in an obviously empty room? I do not understand... sixtuschimere: |
Seems to me this "Imo City Blog" fella is just looking for likes and shares for his blog page and is masking as a "Biafran activist" to get it done. |
uduak2016:Aren't you supposed tyo ber fasting as well? ![]() |
saints2:Since when did it become so bad to produce what you consume? If you ask me, I would say this is actually a silver lining to the parlous state of the economy. I wish I had the time and the space to farm and produce vegetables and livestock. |
Florblu:How can there be no contact between a man and the mother of his child? In my opinion, that is the kind of thing that ultimately leads to the very same issues you are trying to avoid. Soon the man begins to creep around behind you to go see the woman, you find out, trust is broken and all that you have been struggling to build is out of the window. My advise is that you not only allow the man to relate freely with his child and her mother, but you also need to build a good relationship with both of them. Make room for openness and raise concerns where necessary to avoid any shadiness. Don't know for a fact but I suspect the baby mama did not put her life on hold all of this time...18 years is a long time. So I do not think she will be aiming to build any kind of conjugal relationship with her child's father right now. Exercise patience and continue to pray to God. I am sure he will grant you your own fruit soon. May God grant you wisdom in dealing with this matter. ![]() |
While I do not subscribe to the postponement of the elections, I really think the PDP needs to quit whining over every little thing. INEC resisted the postponement as much as possible so they must have shifted ground due to superior arguments for the postponement presented by the security agencies that called for it in the first place. Postponement of an election is a 2 edged sword that can as well favor the PDP as an opposition. It does not necessarily work to the advantage of the APC. For example, the postponement of the last Presidential elections under the administration of ex President Jonathan did not save him from defeat. If the Edo people are bent on voting the PDP candidate, there is nothing much that the APC can do in 2 weeks to radically shift the paradigm. Just my humble opinion. |
Thank God the culprits were clearly identified. Otherwise we would have been reading screaming headlines in all of the Newspapers today about how some anonymous and faceless "Fulani Herdsmen" declared war on christiandom by attacking a priest and destroying the blessed sacrament. |
Very ingenuous move by Governor Fayose! Now just watch and see how this law will solve all the security issues in Ekiti State! In no time, this law will ensure that the economy of Ekiti State grows in leaps and bounds and all outstanding salaries owed workers are paid. Iranu! |
kelechi17:You have been noticed! ![]() |
ahckmedkosy:Only 100 lawyers ![]() I thought the entire judiciary including the CJN would rise to represent the man! ![]() Let me see what argument they hope to present that will prove that the misguided fellow did not indulge in an act capable of setting this country on fire again but foe the timely intervention of the police. It is sad to note that the same people talking trash here will be the same set of people screaming blue murder if the situation had degenerated as it is guaranteed to if the police hadn't intervened. Absolute nonsense! ![]() |
The western media does not understand the sociopolitical and ethno-religious dynamics of our country. If they did, they would have realised that what they term "police overzealousness" saved this country from another round of mindless carnage and loss of lives. I can bet that the "dog owner" would have been the first victim. Naming your dog after anyone is not a crime in itself. But if it is an act capable of stirring the hornet's nest, it is morally reprehensible and a crime under our laws. The man from reports allegedly named his dog, inscribed the name on the dog and paraded the dog though an area of the market populated largely by the Hausas. Now if that is not incitement, I wonder what is. |
Ngokafor:Lol! Nigerians obviously expect so much more from this government that they are not getting presently. But going by your logic, if PMB wins this here poll, it would be safe to assume that in a competition between candidates PMB, GEJ and Stone, GEJ will come a distant 3rd innit? ![]() |
Dunno about the poll. But I can testify today that power supply to Satellite Town, Ojo, Lagos has GREATLY improved in the last couple of months. We now have an average of 12 hours of power supply daily. Coming from a situation where we were getting barely 2 hours supply in a week, that is a GREAT improvement...trust me. ![]() |
IllegalMoney:You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. But arguing purely on judicial process, the PH court cannot invalidate or overrule the July 2016 pronouncement of the Abuja Court which was that both parties should maintain status quo until the hearing of the substantive suit at a yet to be determined date. Justice Abang's pronouncement yesterday was just a reiteration of his earlier ruling delivered on July 28th, 2016. The PDP secured the PH Court judgement on the 9th of August so if anyone is to be accused of judicial rascality and sanctioned by the NJC here, it would be the PH Judge who assumed jurisdiction in a case that was pending before a court of co-equal jurisdiction. If the PDP felt hard done by the ruling of the Abuja court, it should have approached the Court of Appeal and not another High Court. If they choose to go ahead with today's convention, any outcome will be successfully tied up in a court of law for the foreseeable future on the strength of the Abuja ruling. I do share your concern about whether we have a functional NJC because the judiciary has been a major clog in the wheel of our democracy in this country. It really needs to read the riot act to its officials and sanction erring judges accordingly. |
From my understanding, there is an initial case before Justice Abang in Abuja which the PDP is a party to. Without resolving that, the PDP approaches a "friendly" judge in Port Harcourt to secure an injunction to proceed with its convention and compelling government agencies to give the necessary support. The Abuja judge gets wind of the PDP's underhand antics to subvert his ruling and wields the big stick. The PDP is now claiming the higher ground saying the pronouncement of the original court in Abuja that has not been vacated is "inferior" to the Port Harcourt ruling. I just hope that when the chips are down, the PDP will not try to claim protection under the same judicial process it is so wantonly subverting right now. |
iflywithbuhari:This claim should be investigated. Not like it is a big deal really, but the top members of the government should be seen to lead by example. recent photos of the Minister of Labour travelling economy class on a local flight was a good one...even though a lot of people viewed it as playing to the gallery. The Customs oga may have been upgraded by the airline. Premium Times needs to investigate that angle too. |
Wow! I am pleased to see that work has started on that stretch of road. It was in such a bad state. |
ayokujero:Both countries operate different systems of government. Both countries also operate from totally different socio-cultural and religious backgrounds. For instance, In the UK, people are more concerned about the appointees qualifications while in Nigeria, we worry about such banalities like where the person is from, his religion, his political antecedents, etc. Then there are party dynamics to sort out, candidates to be cleared by security and corruption agencies, then presented and screened by the Senate before they are formally made public. Comparing the UK to Nigeria in the area of appointing cabinet positions is like comparing Apples to Oranges...an aberration. |
Act 1 ---- Some Nigerian senators met and discussed plans to impeach the President Act 2 ---- Nigerian senators leaked the plot to the media. Act 3 ---- (Expected) Nigerian president wakes up and smells the coffee and kills the case against Senate President and his Deputy or packages a few ghana must go bags of money for the Senators...as usual. Conclusion --- Nigerian Senate! Flying a kite since 1762! This time dem don jam rock!!! ![]() |
Some people want us to ascribe every good thing happening under this government to the good work of the past administration of President Jonathan. Conversely, we are expected to believe that everything wrong with the nation today was birthed under the watch of the current administration. Warped sense of reasoning if you ask me. |
Early life Muhammadu Buhari was born on 17 December 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, to his father Adamu and mother Zulaihat. He is the twenty-third child of his father. Buhari was raised by his mother, after his father died when he was about four years old.[10] He attended primary school in Daura and Mai'adua before proceeding to Katsina Model School in 1953, and to Katsina Provincial Secondary School (now Government College Katsina) from 1956 to 1961. (Excerpt from the President's Wiki Page) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammadu_Buhari#Early_life If the President "proceeded" to Katsina model school in 1953, it would mean he got into Katsina Model School in 1953 and not graduated. Also if the President was born in 1942 and got into secondary school in 1953, it would mean he got into secondary school at 11 and not 10 as that dunce called Lere Olayinka calculated. I got into secondary school at 10. In JSS 1, I was not the oldest but I was also not the youngest. I really don't get what all the fuss is about seriously. |

..there are countless threads on this question already.
