Sadly, half of the people that are insulting Governor El-Rufai on social media have never been to Kaduna. Most of them do not know the history of the state especially as it has to do with religious upheavals.

These are the same people that will abuse the governor and call him incompetent if there is another break down of law and order as happened recently with the unfortunate incident with the Shiites.

Nigeria has not been blessed with too many good leaders. The few ones we have had are the ones that had the guts to take hard decisions and the resilience and courage to stand in the face of the barrage of insults from a people who are often only able to see life through a religious and/or ethnic lenses.

Thank God for the likes of Governor El-Rufai and Ex-Governor Fashola who have walked and still courageously continue to walk down the dark and lonely road to ensure a turnaround for their people.

History shall remember them and others like them kindly.

It is unfortunate and sad what happened to Mr. Orebiyi...but it is understandable.

We live in a very dangerous world nowadays and sincerely, I would have raised the same alarm if I found myself in that situation.

What is unfortunate is the pilot's refusal to allow Mr. Orebiyi back onboard his original flight even after he was cleared by security.

I was in Abuja earlier in the year for a week and I could barely socialise with my friends and family that live there because of fear of Boko Haram attacks. After concluding my business of the day, I would stay holed up in my hotel room for the rest of the day.

Anytime I am in an airport or a public place home or abroad, I think I am usually more alert than most of the security men around.

I no wan die yet abeg! grin grin grin

That is the sad reality of the world we live in nowadays.

All the same, Yinusa still needs to face the law because he as an older person should have known better than to elope with a minor.

He may claim ignorance of the law in this situation but as held by law, Ignorantia juris non excusat

This is a pointless post.

Pooh pooing someone else's luck or success just to make yourself feel good about your own ill - luck or failure does not add any value to you, just like blowing out someone's candle does not make yours any brighter.

I have my own reservations about the young lady's over exposure in the media but then I guess that is the world we live in. It does not in anyway diminish the fact that she received favor from God in the place where she was struggling for her livelihood.

What is instructive is that she was "discovered" in the line of working and struggling for her and her family's livelihood. That for me should be the key learning point for anyone who wants to use her as a "prayer point".

Leaving her family in Iree to come hustle in Lagos was a sacrifice. God rewards hard work and sacrifice. He is not an unfair God. Don't seat on your bum praying and fasting and expecting a miracle like Olajumoke's.

For all those hating on her, believe it or not, the young lady's life will never remain the same.

olatade:
Members of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, have resolved to carry arms from Wednesday February 17, 2016, ‘in self-defence’.
The group said in a release yesterday in Umuahia by its spokesperson, Emma Nmezu, that failure to carry arms had exposed its members to attacks and killings by security agents.

“Now, we have come to the painful but irreversible conclusion and determination to take our fate and destiny in our own hands. Starting from Wednesday, February 17, 2016, “Biafrans” will now be in the mode of self defence as enshrined by the relevant acts and declarations of the United Nations.
“Let no country or world leader attempt to tag us as terrorists because we are not terrorists, rather we are fighting for our survival and from being exterminated from the surface of the earth,” the release said.
“We shall defend ourselves with everything and anything necessary to avoid the continual killing of our mothers, fathers, and children. This is the time for all Biafrans to rise and defend themselves. We cannot fold our arms and watch them kill us the second time after killing over two million of us in 1968”.
The release added that in September last year, IPOB catalogued attacks on its members in a statement where it alerted the world on plans to provoke Biafrans into retaliation only for it to be tagged as a terrorist organization and Biafrans as terrorists.

Equating Nigeria ' s economic conundrum to mathematics feels a bit like comparing apples to oranges.

The failures of successive governments to lead Nigeria to political and economic eldorado in spite of its globally acclaimed immense potentials should tell you that there is nothing mathematical about the matter.
PoliticsRe: Supreme Court Dares Buhari, Apc And Efcc, You Can Set Up Mchinry, We Cnt Fvour U by Reptyle(m): 6:38pm On Feb 14, 2016
talk2archy:
The President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, have both taken a swipe at the Presidency, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over their recent attacks on the judiciary.

The CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, and the NBA President, Augustine Alegeh, SAN, on Wednesday, February 10, during the valedictory court session held in honour of a retiring Justice of the Apex Court, Muhammad Muntaka-Coomassie, in Abuja refuted claims of “corruption” and “bias” against the Judiciary.

Recently, judgments of the Supreme Court on the dispute over the 2015 governorship elections in States such as: Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Delta, and Ebonyi, have drawn criticism against the judiciary, with many labeling the apex court’s decisions as a product of corruption.

Following the decision of the Apex Court to uphold the election of the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, the APC candidate in the state, Dakuku Peterside, has alleged that the court’s decision was procured.

He maintained that the Apex Court’s judgment that affirmed the election of Wike, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was contrived to legalize electoral violence and rigging.

Recently, Buhari had taken a swipe at the integrity of the judiciary and its ability to dispense justice in cases of corruption, without compromise. Adding that the temple of justice was his major “headache.’’

The EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, was not left out, as he has also passed a damning verdict on members of the judiciary.

Magu made this allegation during a forum on Wednesday, February 10, as he accused prominent lawyers of frustrating the ongoing war against corruption in the country.
Errrrrr. ...so which part of this "sourceless" article translates to "a swipe" at President Buhari, the APC and the EFCC? huh

My sentiments exactly.

None of these extremely brilliant critics of this governments economic policies have been able to proffer any other solution than the devaluation of our currency.

While this government has made efforts to explain it's opposition to the devaluation of the Naira, all most of these erudite scholars have done is argue in line with international best practice...that won't always work locally.

Perhaps the government needs to convene another economic summit and maybe from there, bespoke ideas will be generated to tackle the economic challenges.

Falling oil prices will continue to be the central factor in our economic woes until you are able to show me one other way by which the previous government was able to fund whatever achievements you attribute to them.

This country is finished!

Let me see the hypocritical twit that will invoke GEJ. GEJ left office with naira to dollar at 210 and today it's 335. GEJ inherited naira to dollar from Yaradua at 165, it stayed at this rate +/-15 for 4 yrs, it was only towards the end of 2014 that we began to see fall in naira largely caused by those who are bent on sabotaging his achievements to make sure he doesn't get re-elected. Compare dollar to naira loss in value under GEJ from 165 to 210 within 4-5 yrs span...that's very reasonable. However under Buhari from 210-335 in barely 7 months? This is disastrous...an invitation to anarchy.

Keep blaming GEJ and oil price until dollar hits 1000 Naira by 2017 by the rate Naira is falling.
Very good analysis bar the fact that you forgot to mention how much crude was selling on the international market compared to now.

You can be as emotional and angry as you want to be with the perceived "non-performance" of the present government. But it is only fair to present a full analysis of how we got here.

My take is that if the travails that this nation has been through in the last 16 years did not kill her, then we will survive the next 4 years and if after that, we still do not see the merit in President Buhari ' s government, then we try the next person. We will keep trying till we get it right.

Recall Ngozi Iweala to come and do what exactly?

The same Ngozi Iweala that could not adequately manage an economy where crude was selling for over 100 dollars? Under her watch, Nigeria 's economy was looted blind.

This country has been under her watch for the better part of the last 16 years and we are still where we are today. Says a lot about her capacity as a good economist.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Madam Ngozi Iweala is an immensely brilliant woman. But Nigeria ' s economic challenges defies any textbook or PowerPoint solutions. You need native intelligence to navigate the murky waters that is Nigeria ' s economy.

Sharing Experience...‎
(courtesy of a friend and brother, Dayo Alabi)

This happened today, February 9, 2016...and I consider this experience worthy of share, if not for anything, but to sensitize and galvanize each and everyone of us to take vigilance and caution as serious business...

I let my brother Dayo Alabi give his narratives:

"Help me thank God that the Dana Plane I boarded to Abuja landed safely in Abuja instead of the "breaking news" that would probably have announced that "Dana plane with xyz passangers en-route Abuja hijacked and flown to abc country"!‎

We boarded the plane scheduled to take off at 1.23pm.

However,  one of the air-hostesses became suspicious of one of the passengers who was earlier brought into the plane in a wheelchair with left hand bandaged from shoulder to the fingers; same with his left leg.

The hostess's suspicion arose from the discovery that the man's hand luggage was not passed thru the security screening machines.

To cut a long story short, the Airport Security Team was invited and the bag opened. It was reported that four fully loaded guns were in the bag!

The "sick/injured" man  insisted he could not stand/walk. A wheelchair was brought in by the security team to take him out.  An accomplice was also off-loaded from the plane.

The pilot then apologized profusely for the 37mins delay "due to security breach" saying we should all be thankful as "it is better to be delayed than to be sorry". He then went on rendering beautiful songs (not religious songs anyway) from taxing to take-off to the delight of passangers who were all praising God‎..."

ps:

I thought to share because that Dana Air-Hostess, in saner climes, and to encourage diligence in others, would be on a future honours' list of an appreciative country.

I do hope fervently that she, like Olajumoke Orisaguna, - the now famous bread-hawker ‎shot to limelight by Sister T. Y. Bello's un-quiet action, - will eventually be recognized by the authorities in Nigeria.‎

I also hope that my brother Dayo Alabi, unlike many that were on that plane, but chose to keep 'mute' or indifferent to 'shout-out' on their  horrible encounter, will, in the fulness of time also get recognition for helping to bring this episode to public disclosures.

Most important, I hope this narrative nudges us all to be active participants at vigilance, caution and paying attention to details in matters of public safety and well-being.

A word, as thee saying goes,  is enough for the discerning...

God Rules!‎
Errrrrr....how did the air hostess know the man's bag was not scanned?

In my honest opinion, he was a better candidate compared to Dr. Jonathan.

You might not like Buhari or his style of leadership. You might not even trust in his capacity to lead a country like Nigeria. But if anyone would be sincere with themselves, they would know that another 4 years of the PDP would have doomed this country to the precipice.

In boxing, there is a fantastic technique called rolling with the punches. it is a technique that is adopted by a boxer to lessen the impact of a punch from his opponent when he finds it difficult to avoid or dodge the punch.

A simple way of countering this tomfoolery is to officially adopt the name as his twitter name for a while...that is what I would do if I was Omojuwa.

When some people tried to label President Buhari as "Baba Go Slow" earlier on in his administration, the man simply mentioned the name at a parley with the media and jocularly agreed to the name. He went on to explain why he was "slow." Gradually, that cognomen has faded.

Mr. Lamido's observation is trite.

President Buhari could not have gotten to power without the support of politicians and their existing structures. Some of them might not get their just desserts immediately for whatever accusations of corruption they might have against them...but they will ultimately. It is still early days yet and the corruption battle is raging.

That however, should not detract from dealing with those that have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar...like Lamido. He and his sons will have their day in court whether they mock the President or not.
