Politics › Re: SHOCKING: Buhari’s Minister, Mama Taraba Boasting How She Controls The Judiciary by Reptyle(m): 9:18am On Feb 10, 2016 |
This OP is just being mischievous.
She never said or alluded to manipulating the judiciary.
She spoke about losing at the court of appeal and basically expressing hope that she would get justice at the supreme court.
She said that she had received a call from some judges of the Appeal court that know her commiserating with her after the loss and encouraging her to go to the supreme court to seek justice.
She said even if she dies, the APC would take the case to the the supreme court (note she did not say the APC will takeover at the supreme court as wrongly subtitled) because God that gave the APC victory at the national level will not allow one man steal the victory at the state level. |
Politics › Re: Lauretta Onochie Sues Emeka Ugwuoye, Blogger, Over Facebook Post by Reptyle(m): 10:39pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
LordAdam: You are not understanding my point. I will make it clearer.
Her going to court is not enough.
It would be very difficult for the blogger to prove everything beyond all reasonable doubts or as you put it "furnish the court with such details should it". And you should know that even if he proves some, but does not prove everything, the court will still decide against him.
No where did I say that the woman should solely bear the burden of proof. I said she should make a public rebuttal, after which, she should charge the blogger to court. It is far easier for her to prove these allegations are false than for the blogger to prove that they are true.
-Lord I see the point you are trying to make...but I beg to differ sir. It would not be easier for her to prove that the allegations are false...and in all honesty, you and I know a rebuttal would be futile in this situation. This is Nigeria where any allegation against someone is taken as truth and the person is tried, convicted and sentenced in the media even before the "accused" gets a chance to be heard. Case in point is this very thread we are on. Go back and read the comments from people that have already condemned the woman based on the OP. I suspect very few of them even know the woman beyond the fact that she is a member of the APC and supported President Buhari 's campaign. A rebuttal is in my opinion, only effective or useful where people are open and fair minded and willing to hear from both sides before reaching a conclusion. |
Politics › Re: Lauretta Onochie Sues Emeka Ugwuoye, Blogger, Over Facebook Post by Reptyle(m): 8:40pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
LordAdam: Oga, my logic is based on the premise that she may be hiding something if she does not want to make a public rebuttal.
Make a public rebuttal then charge the guy to court, what is so hard about that. If these allegations are as wild as you and her place them to be, then rebutting them should not be difficult.
If I type on some site that you are gay with a partner in PH. That is a wild allegation that you can easily rebuff by showing me your gf or wife and kids and such. After that, you can take me to court and I will appropriately lose the case.
I did not say she should not take the guy to court. I am only saying she should also bring a public rebuttal. It is easy to do if those allegations are truly false.
-Lord Is her going to court not a rebuttal enough? Like you rightly said, the court is not just going to ask the blogger to cease and desist or award damages against the defendant without first asking him to prove his allegations. Surely if the blogger had a basis for going public with his allegations in the first place, it should not be so hard to furnish the court's with such details should it? My point is, why should the burden of proof or otherwise be on the woman rather than on the one that went public with an allegation he might not be able to prove before a court of law? |
Politics › Re: Lauretta Onochie Sues Emeka Ugwuoye, Blogger, Over Facebook Post by Reptyle(m): 7:39pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
LordAdam: Yes it is a serious offence. But she should clear her name if this is false rather than try to suppress the facts.
Right now, the court's take will be such that the blogger should prove beyond all reasonable doubts that Ms. Onochie is guilty of those allegations, something that even the authorities with more manpower and resources would find difficult to do. Ms. Onochie, as far as this case is concerned, is not required to prove that these allegations are false.
Aisha Buhari watch for the inauguration was said to be worth millions. Today we know that was a false allegation because it was disputed in the public domain. Did Aisha take the proponent of that allegation to court?
Let Onochie prove in the public domain that those allegations are false. After doing so, she can go forward to charge the blogger to court. In summary, she should prove these are false before going to the court.
Tinubu might have won a case of libel against Dokpesi and AIT, but we all know he is no saint.
There is no smoke without a fire.
-Lord So according to you, someone tells what you consider a lie against you with no proof; just a bunch of wild allegations and conjectures. Going by your logic, you who has been lied on is the one that should be struggling and toiling to prove that the allegations are lies rather than the "liar", having to prove how he came by his allegations? What kind of logic is that? |
Politics › Re: 2015 Election Cases: Why We Ignored Card Reader Reports – Supreme Court by Reptyle(m): 3:46pm On Feb 06, 2016 |
Well the position of the Supreme Court is logical. You cannot tell a man whose name is duly captured on the voter's register that he cannot cast his vote because the card reader failed to scan his finger print.
Until such a time when we have a legislation supporting electronic voting, the manual voters' register will continue to take preeminence.
That is very sad to note that by this ruling, all the technological gains of the last elections have been pooh poohed and we are back right where we started.
One can only pray that one of the legacies of this government will be the institution of a legislation backing the introduction of electronic voting otherwise, the next elections will be bloody. |

If the President needs an alibi to go to hospital, it's a big shame.
Even the strongest of men need medicare once in a while so I do not know what the big deal is about President Buhari going to hospital.
Even young and otherwise healthy men take ill and even die from health challenges talk more of a President who is in his seventies.
The President's media handlers need to be more open with information concerning the president's health to prevent stories like this that seek to sensitise issues and create a scandal.
Nigerians deserve to know what medical condition our President has so we can also pray for God's mercy and healing over him. |

A regular Joe working with MTN might receive a 10 million naira payment from someone who needs a thousand BVNs. Am I overthinking? Maybe not. Your data is never safe with these companies.
I have a new MTN line I've never used for registration anywhere online and recently, it's receiving promotional messages from Jumia. There can only one explanation to this. Tho my friend told me Jumia and MTN are partner, But why would they start sending promotional msg to me that way. Our Country Men at work.
My bro who Did Jamb Last Year Recieved up to 10sms from one unrecognized polytechnics and college of Edu telling him "he has been offered admission" pls tell me where they got his number.
So what am try to say is that, Dont trust MTN with your BVN details. Do you think I will turn down an offer when someone tell me to just give him access to just 1000 BVN details and am gonna get 10millions.
This is my own oppinion, What do you Think??

Politics › Re: Buhari Has Turned Governance To Nollywood —fayose by Reptyle(m): 6:48pm On Jan 20, 2016 |
alcmene: Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to make public names of the 15 former governors and 55 Nigerians that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion between 2006 and 2013 or keep his mouth shut permanently.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “The reality is that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government has destroyed the economy within eight months in power and rather than look for solutions to the problems facing Nigeria, Lai Mohammed and his cohorts are branding bogus figures about stolen money just to cover up their lack of solution to the country’s economic problems.”
The governor, who also described as disgraceful, bringing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh to court in handcuff, said; “Even the masterminds of Mandala and Nyanya bomb blasts, Kabiru Sokoto and Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche were not handcuffed when they were arraigned in court.”
Fayose said it was funny that close to one year after it won the presidential election, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC federal government was still operating as if it was campaigning for votes.
The governor said: “They are turning governance to Nollywood, such that when one movie is about to end, they release another one. As it appears that the $2.1 billion arms deal movie is getting to an end, Lai Mohammed introduced another movie titled N1.34 trillion loot.
“Unfortunately for them this time around, Nigerians have become tired of watching the Federal Government movies, they now want reality. Nigerians are now aware of the scam in the $2.1 billion arms deal movie having seen that the amount those already charged to court were charged with is not more than N10 billion and $2.1 billion is over N600 billion.
“Therefore, Lai Mohammed must either tell Nigerians details of the 15 former governors and 55 people that he claimed stole N1.34 trillion, where the stolen money is kept and bring back the money or apologise to Nigerians for lying.”
While describing the persistent claim by the federal government that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) destroyed Nigeria for 16 years as hypocritical, Governor Fayose said Nigerians must begin to ask which party majority of those presently ruling the country under the APC government were between 1999 and 2014.
“Majority of those who ran the Federal Government between 1999 and 2003 under the PDP are in the APC government today. President, vice president, ministers, governors, senators and House of Reps members who were part of the PDP government are now in APC. Yet, APC keeps telling Nigerians that PDP ruined the country. This hypocrisy must stop,” he said.
The governor, who insisted that due process of the law must be followed in fighting corruption, noted that disobedience to court orders itself is a criminal offence that is more grievous than corruption.
He said no amount of harassment and intimidation will silence opposition in the country, saying President Buhari and his men should rather get used to the reality that opposition must exist in a democracy.

Obiagelli: I came across this hashtag and i was like what is going on here? Looks like the usual suspects or their copycats are back again, it is barely a year into the present administration and we are marching and printing t-shirts for what exactly? There's massive work to be done and this administration has not even gotten into 5% of it and we are marching? We should be careful not to create an all is well impression to this administration, our job is to put them on their toes, we should not tolerate mistakes, incompetence or outright impunity (the presidential BMWs).
Are we going back to the days of TAN ambassadors, Fresh air crew, bringbackourgej or the 9 million March for Abacha.
We appreciate the good work the government is doing but going on a march is pure sycophancy.
IT 2016 NIGERIANS, RECEIVE SENSE. DONSMITH123: DEPUTY President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has warned that continued detention of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh was designed by the Federal Government to gag the mouthpiece of the opposition.
Ekweremadu who stressed the need for the All Progressives Congress, APC led government to be cautious against the trampling of the opposition and total disregard for the rule of law in the guise of anti-corruption war, said that with this development, the country was fast descending into authoritarianism, adding that it spells doom on the nation’s democracy.
In a statement signed yesterday by his Special Adviser, Media, Uche Anichukwu, Senator Ekweremadu who reaffirmed the PDP’s support for a genuine anti-graft crusade, however, decried a situation where such crusade becomes a calculated attempt to decimate and silence the opposition, while members of the ruling party with serious corruption allegations go about their businesses.
The Deputy President of the Senate who was speaking in the light of the continued detention of Metuh, Senator Ekweremadu said,” the continued detention of the PDP mouthpiece was an attempt to gag the opposition and therefore unhealthy for democracy.”
Warning against the corruption of the anti-corruption war, he argued: “An anti-graft trap that catches only members of the opposition and those with axe to grind with the government of the day is compromised.”
He called on the nation to denounce and resist the prevailing situation where people are held in custody against the directives of the courts and laws of the land, insisting that there would be no justice without the rule of law.

Apart from the audio testimony of the faceless "soldier" who claimed he fired 500 bullets into the air without hitting target, how is this video different from the ones that have been in circulation? Why was there an attempt to obfuscate the aspect that had to do with the mob obstructing a military convoy. So now the hatchet and cudgel bearing and "Ya Hussein!!!" chanting people are not part of the mob? Perhaps they were planted by the soldiers And what's all this talk about "innocent and unarmed civilians"? Did that mob look harmless and unarmed? Since when did machetes and clubs become feathers or white flags of peace? Perhaps the Army may be accused of going overboard with their response. But I sincerely cannot in good conscience blame them for that after seeing how another of such sects has become a national challenge due to the pussy footing of another administration.
