noblezone: I just Bought Fuel N120. After Buharu Had Paid Billions "Non-Existent" Subsidy!
Who is fooling who? Where is Tam David Waist (sorry I mean West).
Where is occupy Nigeria?
Where is the Media?
Where is the gang of "progressives"?
We fought as hard as we could in 2012, supporting Jonathan to remove subsidy.
Corruption is a system not individuals. The illiterate occupying Aso Rock will surely jail some individuals to appease "gods of the land": gullible and myopic Nigerians. Soon and very soon, this fanfare will be over.
Nigerians will learn that public opinion do not put people in jail. I don't care who goes to jail, neither do I care who is made a scape goat. They ought to have known that what turns around turns around.
I am only concerned about the future of the gullible generation who will rather clap and cheer over nothing. Trust me, jails and even death penalty will not stop people from stealing public funds.
Not when the system is corrupt! We don't need strong men, we need strong institutions.
When people fear the "body language" of Buhari today, what happens tomorrow when he is gone?
He is surrounded by th very corrupt, the same people that ruined our chances of being great. Well, there sins are forgiven because they are "progressives"
Shame on this generation! Congratulations! |

I attended the recently concluded National Economic Summit in Abuja where the Vice President stated clearly that the government intends to fulfill all of its campaign promises especially those that have to do with the welfare of Nigerian youths. He specifically mentioned the payment of unemployment benefits and the meal-a-day for school pupils as 2 promises the government was working hard to implement. He noted that the quick implementation was been hampered by the government's drive towards stabilising the economy and ensuring a revenue stream that would ensure the sustainability of the welfare packages once implemented. The motion that was raised in the senate by the PDP legislators seeking to "compel" the federal government to commence payment of unemployment benefits was mischievous and deserved to be shot down as it was. Where will the funds to do that come from? Perhaps if Senator Ben Bruce of the PDP and his cohort in the APC like Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani make good on their own campaign promises to lead the charge for the reduction in the pay currently due to legislators, the savings can be channeled accordingly into funding the federal government's welfare programmes. http://expressng.com/2015/06/n8billion-allowance-ben-murray-bruce-questioned-by-angry-nigerians-on-nass-pay-cut-see-tweets/ |

onatisi: see question smh There are always 2 sides to an argument. My question might seem silly to you but if you weren't so angry with MTN, you will realise that while the network messed up by activating unregistered lines, (note that ALL of the networks were guilty of this by the way. Just that MTN had the largest chunk by virtue of their been the largest network) the NCC also failed in its duty of regulating the industry by not noticing that MTN and all of the other networks were activating unregistered lines. This issue only became one because of the advent of Boko Haram and more because of the recent kidnap of Chief Olu Falae. If you weren't so angry with MTN, you will realise that there are over 10,000 Nigerians that benefit directly or indirectly from that business staying afloat. I am not arguing that any business local or foreign should take Nigeria's laws and regulations for granted, I am just saying that there are always 2 sides to an argument and the matter should be addressed more holistically. The cure for a headache is not a beheading! |

Atlantian: You are ignorant. UK Passport holders travel visa-free to hundreds of countries including Nigeria. I agree with you...but Nigeria is not one of those countries that UK passport holders enter visa free. Matter of fact, it is very difficult for British citizens to get Nigerian visas. I know this because by virtue of my job, I bring in a lot of consultants from the UK and i know the stress I go through to get those visas approved. I assure you that if Mr. Kanu applies for a Nigerian visa on his British passport, it will be declined given his history. It is thus logical to assume that he indeed travelled to the "Zoo" using his "Zoo" citizen passport. |

How did the NCC expect 5 million lines to be disconnected at once? That would have created a crisis of national proportions.

Double standard is when Buhari sends EFCC, CCB etc after saraki bc he is not his desired SP, but nominate Amechi whom Rivers state govt set panel indicted for embezzling 53billion naira belonging to the state.
Why didn't buhari put Amechi nomination on hold till he clears his name, after all there are still nominations to be made later? I guess it all depends on where you stand. Saraki ' s trial is before a court of law; Amaechi ' s trial is before the media. Saraki is Senate President recognised by the President and enjoying full paraphernalia of office even though "he is not desired SP" while according to you, Amaechi cannot be appointed minister though he isn't under trial in any court of law. I say innocent until proven guilty; you say guilty until proven innocent....In some cases. See what I mean? |

TonyeBarcanista: Fruit of which labour? This is a statement of corrupt apostle! Someone allegedly stole Rivers state blind and you are saying we should reward him the more. What a life! ...and because of these "allegations" you would have Amaechi sentenced to death? Have you ever heard of anyone sentenced to serve time or die based on allegations? Isn't that why we have courts so that he who alleges should prove in line with our laws? You and your ilk are criticizing this government for the travails of The Senate President and calling it a witchhunt. Yet you fail to rule Amaechi's trial by media a witchhunt. Such double standards makes no sense. Amaechi, Saraki and their likes are innocent and fit for office until a court of competent jurisdiction declares them guilty. |

Sounds to me like this was a mere clash of egos and shows how matters can quickly go south when people allow their egos to get in the way.
Coach Oliseh should have shown a bit more compassion in dealing with the situation but Enyeama also took a very big decision without thinking it through and now he is trying to convince himself that it was the right move to make.
I wish one of the 2 men will choose to be the bigger man by apologising so that we can have Enyeama back in the team. He is one of the few truly committed players we have in the squad and fact is none of the present super eagle goalies can match his class at the moment.
If both men truly care about Nigeria, they or atleast one of them will get over themselves and take the wrong in the overall interest of the team. |

Politics › Re: After Blocking My Two FB Accounts, What Next APC? (snapshot) by Reptyle(m): 11:11pm On Sep 26, 2015 |
TonyeBarcanista: I know quite well that the ruling All Progressive Congress is not favorable to having opposition. I am also aware that they are very desperate to shut down opposition, but I really under-estimate the degree to which APC can go to shut down opposition.
When I pulled out of the fraud called APC in February 16, all manners of missiles were thrown at me by members and supporters of the APC with sole aim of either getting me return or to silence my voice. In fact, I had to be more security conscious because life is precious. Nevertheless, I assumed that all those exhibition of hate start and end on Nairaland forum.
Blocking of My Facebook Account: Towards the end of last month, I created a facebook page TONYE BARCANISTA so as to reach people on facebook despite having an existing facebook account with name SOLOMON TONYE. I ensured that message/articles on TONYE BARCANISTA are written in a way that it won't connote inciting against the Nigeria state, but left it within the confines of constructive criticism. About Two weeks into operation of the account, I received a message from FB that I have been reported for not using my 'Real Name' and always tagging friends. They gave me the grace of uploading my ID to show that the name on the page is my real name. They also said if I had inputed a phone number, all I would have done was phone verification. The account was suspended/closed/blocked.
Blocking of My Main FB Account: After the blocking of the TONYE BARCANISTA account, I reverted to my existing SOLOMON TONYE account. Both names are mine, and the account is connected with my phone number. However, hours after sharing the article titled The Battle For Senate Presidency: PDP Have The Upper-hand on my FB page, I got a message from some guy saying that 'we are working on this your page'. I ignored the user because I believe that worse come to worse, I will be asked to do a phone verification. Few hours ago, I tried to access my FB page but I was told to 'verify' my account by uploading a Valid ID (and not through phone). Note that on this account I never at any time tag any user. Unfortunately for them, I will NOT submit my ID to them because I have lost confidence on FB to keep my ID confidential.
Since leaving the APC camp, they have deployed the following to gag me: 1. They engaged in character assassination, Insults and varying forms of cyber abuse to no avail.
2. They Created parody accounts on Nairaland to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, but it was futile.
3. They Vigorously stalked me on FB to see that my accounts are locked. This won't stop the advocacy for good governance.
I want to assure them that their efforts to see that I'm silenced on social media shall amount to futility. What will they do next? Will they move their madness to my twitter page or eliminate me completely?
No Retreat, No Surrender! With the passing of each day, you sound more and more like that Musiwa fellow. Facebook asks you for a verification and you and your 1 million IDs and goons believe APC has a hand in it How are you different from that chap that expressed gratitude to GEJ for bringing Facebook to Nigeria? hansad: Docking Senate president Saraki the crooked over a ten years old matter on assets declaration is Buhari being more crooked than Saraki.
Buhari has big ugly plans to preside over Nigeria like dictator Idi Amin.
Meanwhile, Buhari does not seem to understand that he has presided over Nigeria for about four months without a functional legislature. Well, if that is what it will take to get bad eggs like Senate President Saraki to answer for the charges against them, so be it. We must consciously choose not to celebrate these corrupt officials whenever the State manages to drag one of them to justice regardless of our political leanings. If there is enough evidence to drag them before a court, let them go and answer to the charges. Arguments about a witch hunt are secondary and distracting. |
