secorn: BREAKING!!! Judge’s Withdrawal From Kanu’s Treason Trial: Buhari in a Dangerous New Plot
PMB Nnamdi KanuLatest revelation from Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power shows that Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian maximum ruler is planning a new strategy to jail Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra. The new strategy is centered around using malleable judges from one of two fronts – either from the South-east or from the South-south geo-political zone front – to judge the new case his government is bringing against Kanu.
The reasons for limiting his search to the two geo-political zones, where Kanu is seen to have maximum influence, are many. The first reason is that he does not want to be accused of carrying out a sectional agenda against Kanu, whom he has sworn to give a long sentence that will make it impossible for him to leave the prison alive. The second reason is that he was told the judges he used in the previous trials, which turned against him, were judges from the Northern and Western geo-political zones of the country. The third and final reason is the belief among his kitchen cabinet that it is only from the South-east and South-south geo-political that he would find people that were so unstable in character, who would be able to easily sell-out for a fee. Already two characters from the two geo-political zones have already been commissioned, and mobilized with 50 Million Naira each search for a judge that would agree to do the job. The two characters are Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State; and Chibuike Amaechi, former governor of Rivers State.
It is instructive to note that Buhari did not start hand-picking or arm-twisting judges to do his bidding today. He did so in the past during his first coming as a military junta. Then he arm-twisted judges to jail Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, the popular musician of the 70s and the 80s. About 30 years after Buhari’s dictatorial rule, Fela told Nigerians that the judge came to confess to him that Buhari and his men forced him to pass the judgment. It was also under Buhari’s junta that the country saw certain citizens dumped into jail for outrageously long prison sentences. Some individuals were sentenced for as long as 150 and 250 years.
http://www.igberetvnews.com/32364 Interesting. So according to this report, Buhari anticipated that Mr. Kanu would stand up in court and question the court's competency and the Judge's integrity to try him and opt for remaining in jail. Buhari must have also foreseen that Mr. Kanu would refuse to have his plea taken and that the judge would excuse himself from the case to enable him plant his SS or SE judge to jail Kanu. Buhari must be a master planner. |

emmygzy: machine gun is mounted at the back of this one in this picture? Are you seeing at all? I have so many Nigerian army videos, even the ones that involves fighting with Boko haram, what they use is Toyota normal toyota hilux pickup that is sprayed with camouflage colour. I did not say there is a machine gun mounted. I said there is a "machine gun mount". 2 different things entirely. If you look at the pictures carefully, you will see the mounts I am talking about. You can't find those on the back of regular toyota trucks. If in all the videos you watched the NA uses "normal Toyota hilux" and someone now decides to buy them purpose built war vehicles, is it wrong? |

Its just like buying Kia picanto for the police and then spraying it with their color. Nigeria doesn't buy specially made customized vehicles. These are not "normal Toyota pickup vehicles". How many "normal Toyota pickup" trucks do you know that have machine gun mounts on their backs? Google is your friend. |

tempest01: the army is fighting insurgency in the NE which can be termed as external aggression
now which arm is in charge of funding the army? is it federal or state government.
If there is a security vote for sates, is it not to equip the police to handle internal security? (which can also be linked to the bh 'war'?)
Which inventory does the said cars go to? is it not the NA inventory? This is a pointless argument...but let me humour you a little. First of all, an insurgency is not an external aggression...an insurgency is an internal rebellion against constituted authority. Insurgents can however, have external support. The situation in the northeast is a rebellion by Nigerian citizens who wish to institute a caliphate governed by full Islamic law. The army is primarily responsible for the internal security of Borno State and other states in the Northeast for now so they need all the support they can get. Ask yourself when last you heard a news report about the police in Borno State. As to which arm of government is primarily responsible for funding the NA, the States are neither responsible for funding the NA or the Police. All security agencies are primarily funded by the FG because all of those agencies are controlled primarily by the FG. Even the State commissioners of Police do not report directly to the State governors but to the IG of Police who in turn reports to the President. The States only contribute to any of the security agencies to better equip them to face the security challenges of the State. That is why in Lagos for instance, you have a taskforce called Operation MESA that support the State to fight crime. The taskforce is peopled 100% by soldiers of the NA and Navy but their operations are funded exclusively by the LASG. Yes, the Army is primarily put together to tackle external aggression. But there are times they assist in internal security operations. It is still within their constitutional rights to do so. By funding the internal operations of the NA, neither the Borno State Governor nor the Lagos State governor has breached the constitution. I hope you understand better now. |

A state that produces nothing but receives allocation from the FG is donating to d same FG ministry again. Its just crazy.
In this trying times. Is that the min of def does not have allocation for things like this or the state has met all its needs and this is excess money. The state has a security vote. Most governors that donate equipment to security agencies like the army and the police, use funds from their security votes. There's nothing untoward about that. |

Governor Fayose ' s case is like a prophet that tells a pregnant woman that she will give birth to a baby after 9 months then when it happens, he quickly goes to the public to brag about how he had predicted the child's birth.
What would the woman have given birth to before if not a baby and how long would it have taken her to carry the baby?
Nigeria exists in a world whose economy is on a downturn so there is nothing prophetic about the free fall of the naira against the dollar in a year that has seen a massive depreciation in the price of crude.
What Fayose forgot to add is that if his party had done enough to diversify our economy in the 16 years plus it was in charge, we won't have had it this bad now.
Nigeria will get better in spite of all the prophecies of doom. God will help us. |
Politics › Re: What Was Buratai Doing In Zaria When Army Command Centre Is In Maiduguri?? by Reptyle(m): 7:29am On Dec 18, 2015 |
Validated: Please, I am not here to paint anyone bad. However, if Gen. Tukur Buratai was actively coordinating the war in NE, perhaps the Shiites massacre would not have occured. I remembered that on assumption of office, Buhari accused the erstwhile military command struture of abandoning their responsibilities in the war zone and sitting in Abuja. The president insisted that they should be in the war zone to defeat Boko Haram. That was the premise upon which the Military Command Centre was moved to Maiduguri and Gen "Push-Up" Buratai appointed.
My questions are: What was the Chief of Army Staff looking for in Zaria at the time of Shiite procession while Boko Haram are killing senior officers in Maiduguri?? Could the attack have been a premeditated plan to unleash terror on the Shiites? Could the COAS have taken another route to his destination rather than engage a group on religious activities??
I think that something is not right here. As Nigerians, let put aside political sentiments and parochial ethnic biases. A public inquiry should be instituted by Buhari to find out the remote and real cause of the face-off that led to the death of about 300 unarmed Nigerians. If this can happen to muslims of which Buhari and Buratai are "brothers/sister" in same religion, what makes you think that one day, when a COAS would be passing through Lagas Ibadan expressway, army will not kill worshippers because the road was "blocked".
By the way, it is totally appalling that we do not value human lives any more in Nigeria. Just last month, France lost about 129 people and the whole world almost froze, yet in Nigeria, Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen, Army and Police have wasted over 2000 lives since Buhari took over. Neither the president nor NASS feels concerned. What is the essence of leadership if people's lives are not secured? Will you be leading the dead??
Fellow Nigerians, I feel compelled to call us out to collectively call this government to account. Today, it does not affect you so you may say, "How does it concern me!!" Be reminded of the words of Martin Niemöller (1892–1984), "First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
What a Nation we have Naaah you did set out to paint the COAS bad...you just did not do it intelligently so you only ended up exposing your own bias. The COAS was in Zaria for the passing out parade of Army recruits. Besides, the fact that the command centre is in Maiduguri does not mean the man has to be located there all of the time. |

I was wondering when they would plead their case before the courts instead of begging up and down.
Hate them or like them, MTN is responsible for the bread and butter of thousands of Nigerians either as direct employees or trade partners.
They may have committed an offence but that punishment was simply ridiculous. That fine is capable of putting them out of business. Then what happens to all of the Nigerians that draw value from them?
I pray they get the much needed relief from the courts. |

Odunharry: Do you think going through your partner's phone once a while is right and can you allow your partner go through yours??
As for me , use to hate the habit though I don't have problem with anyone going through my phone until I discovered something years back..
My opinion is simple, Check if you want to check especially if you feeling suspicious or you getting less affection and time from ur partner.
Only people who have something to hide will not allow you check and I don't see what's there to hide form my partner except I have an ulterior motive
why I think it's right if you want to is simple.. It can save from cheating partner, deceitful relationship, heartbreak, disease, forced pregnancy etc etc
CAVEAT Be prepared and be strong to take or face anything you see.. Going through your partner's phone is neither right nor wrong. If the intent is altruistic, then it isn't wrong. But if it is for some sinister reason or based on suspicion, then it isn't advisable. In this life we live, the suspicious soul that is looking for something to fuel or justify their suspicion will always find it. I don't check my wife's phone and I don't really like her checking my own. Doesn't mean however, that I don't let her use my phone if she needs to. |
Politics › Re: History And Meaning Of Nigeria Army Motto by Reptyle(m): 4:41pm On Dec 13, 2015 |
IbnSultaan: BRIEF HISTORY OF NIGERIA ARMY PRE INDEPENDENCE NA started in 1863 when the Imperial Governor of Lagos, Lt Glover of the Royal Navy gathered 18 Northern Nigerians to mount punitive expeditions to protect Britishtrade routes around Lagos. This small force metamorphosed into the Hausa Constabulary and later formed part of the West African Frontier Force (WAFF). The visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Nigerian in a 1956 led to the renaming of the Northern and Southern Regiments to the Queen’s Own Nigerian Regiment (QONR). When later in that same year, Britain granted military autonomy to her dependencies, the QONR was re-designated the Nigerian Military Force (NMF),and at independence in 1960, the name changed to the Royal Nigerian Army. The present designation, Nigerian Army (NA), came into use when Nigeria assumed a Republic status in 1963.
HISTORY AND MEANING OF ARMY MOTTO
The adoption of the motto of the Sokoto Caliphate, as that of the Nigerian Army, was made by the British - before Nigerian Independence, One of the reasons was that the fall of Sokoto in 1903 - and death of Sultan Attahiru - was (and in some circles, still is) inaccurately regarded by western historians as the last formal battle in the fall of what became "Nigeria". The highly symbolic Flag of the Caliphate was captured by the British, recaptured by gallant Sokoto Horsemen and recaptured again by the British. It was kept for many years as a British trophy in one of the officers' messes in Kaduna but returned in a formal ceremony just prior to Nigerian Independence. The myth was spun and sustained by British Tradition. However, "Nigeria" did not really fall in 1903. The Tiv of the middle belt of "Northern Nigeria", for example, were not militarily or otherwise pacified for at least another ten (10) years. Many pockets of resistance remained in present day "Southern Nigeria" - including Ekumeku and many others. Abeokuta lost its independence in 1914. Nevertheless, the symbolism of the events of 1903 became etched into official memory, as shaped by Dealtry Lugard, which is why the Northern Nigeria regiment and later the combined Nigeria regiment (when Lugard supervised the wedding of Northern and Southern Nigeria in 1914) adopted the Sokoto motto. Many indigenous pre-colonial Nigerian armies and nationalities resisted British rule. They all presumably had their own mottos, but Sir Lugard was preoccupied with his personal legacy as embodied by the subjugation of the Sokoto Caliphate and stabilization of the Anglo-French colonial frontier in the north. It is not the making of modern day "Northern Nigeria" or "Northern leaders" or "Leaders of Northern origin" or "Hausa-Fulani oligarchy or cabal" - as various writers suggest, that the motto of the Nigerian Army is that of the pre-colonial Sokoto Caliphate.

Why do you feel the need to insult someone on an open and faceless forum to make your point? How do the insults add value to your argument? Dear Shadow Cabinet,
The Chief of the Army has informed Nigerians that the rumoured missing 105 soldiers are not missing but back to their battalion hale and hearty save for a few scrapes and bruises which is normal in an operational environment.
The army will never accede to your ridiculous demand for a list of soldiers that make up 175 Battalion because that would mean endangering the lives of those brave men and their families. They would also not furnish you with a list of their inventory so as not to expose details of their operational capacity to the enemy.
I am sorry to disappoint you, but there are no soldiers missing. You will be informed if such happens (God forbid) so that you can roll out the drums like you are doing now and go to town about how terrorists are routing our soldiers.
