The Niger Delta fought a war of attrition for years. The north took the baton and that has been on for over 10 years now. While we are doing all we can to quell that fire that was foolishly left to burn out of control, the southeast wants to walk down the road to perdition. Afterall all said and done, no region thrives while a full-blown war is being fought on their land. This thing that IPOB/ESN is trying to start will only end in premium tears. I hope wisdom prevails on all sides. |
Blurpy:It is really unfortunate that with all of these and so many more criminal activities of our fellow Nigerians in diaspora, we are quick to lampoon the country for the poor state of our international passport. Ghana recently gained an ease of visa restrictions to the UAE for instance and Nigerians went amock on social media blaming Buhari for the situation. I feel that until we all realise that we are all collectively responsible for improving the country's image by carrying ourselves in line with the laws of other countries, we will not make much progress. |
AroleOduduwa2:He did not arrest anyone from the north you say? Are you sure you read everything that was posted? Read the list of arrests and accomplishments again...this time, slowly. |
saintade01:Are you trying to tell me that Buhari met one on one with Boris and Boris did not order him to release Igboho and Kanu with immediate effect or face sanctions |
PCG001:If you had even bothered to read the full story, you would have realized that the "Tope Alabi" referred to here isn't the gospel singer but a "normal citizen". Please normalize reading beyond the headline ffs! ![]() |
KratosCorp:I'm not about to indulge you in a pointless debate about something that we both obviously know very little about. Let us watch as the international politics play out. I guess if you are right, Britain will soon move mountains to rescue its illustrious citizen from the Nigerian government. If I am right, on the other hand, Mr. Kanu will be tried by the Nigerian government and put away for a very long time. Time will tell. |
Danchibez:Ok o! International lawyer ![]() If you like call it kidnap or abduction, Kanu is back in Nigeria to face trial. When the case resumes hearing, you can go to the court and display your knowledge of international law. |
SeeThisLoser:Only a gullible bunch of illiterates will believe the nonsense that this lawyer is spewing. Mr. Kanu is on trial in Nigeria; was granted bail and fled to another country. For this reason, his bail was revoked and the courts issued a bench warrant for his arrest. He was apprehended in a neutral country where he went of his own volition and brought back to Nigeria to face trial. Nigeria is a sovereign country and whatever issues the UK has with his arrest will be resolved through diplomatic channels. Bad enough that the UK has to explain how and why they issued another passport to Kanu who is a fugitive from the law. After all, one of the conditions of his bail was that he deposit both his Nigerian and British passports with the courts. If they like let them involve the largest law firm in the world, Kanu will be tried here in Nigeria and jailed if found guilty. Every other thing na diplomacy go settle am. |
SenecaTheYonger:Keep telling yourself that tale. |
SenecaTheYonger:This is a very silly take. Was it northerners that looted and burnt down government structures in places like Lagos, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta State and the likes? In Cross River, they even went as far as looting the State Owned Psychiatric hospital, stealing hospital beds and signpost. |
SavageResponse:The super tucano was first launched in 2003. Why don't you undertake a simple Google research of the aircraft's capabilities and why it is best suited for COIN operations to avoid commenting in ignorance? |
TUANKU:Even if we can, I doubt very much that they will sell to us. Warplanes aren't gotten off the shelf. There are a whole lot of diplomatic maneuvers involved in their procurement. See how many years it took us to get this set of Tucanos delivered even though Nigeria had to pay way above the regular market price and 100% upfront for them. |
naptu2:I am not a constitutional lawyer. But I do not think there can be a completely new constitution without making provision for it in the current constitution. I might be wrong though, but I think there must first be an amendment before we begin to talk of a new constitution. |
Nemere2020:Good one from labour. Now is a good time for Governor El-Rufai to show good faith by opening up lines of communication and reconciliation. At the end of the day, we are all striving for the good of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large, albeit in different ways. The process of change is rarely ever pleasant. But the governor as leader of the people must do all he can to cushion the effect and ensure the ordinary people do not suffer too much. |
oshozondii:Let the labour unions and the governor enjoy the anarchy they have jointly created because neither can be exonerated on this matter. The idea of rightsizing the state civil service is a great idea but can be considered ill-timed given the dire state of the nation presently. However, this sort of total strike embarked upon by the NLC is not just ill-timed, but ill-advised. It seems our labour unions aren't in tune with modern ways of engaging and negotiations. Unfortunately, the NLC is dealing with a governor who isn't afraid to walk a road alone provided he believes that he is on the right path. Follow El-Rufai's history from his days in the BPE up till the present and you will see that he is very consistent with taking decisions that other leaders shy away from for fear of rocking the boat. The NLC should have exhausted all lines of dialogue rather than this full-scale "war" that they got into. Like El-Rufai said yesterday, the NLC has played its ultimate card with this attempt to shut down the state. Such a move does not really inconvenience the government but weighs more on the masses - the very people they claim to be fighting for. In a country where most people depend on a daily wage to survive, how long does the NLC think it can sustain this strike action before those masses succumb to the pangs of hunger and call for a suspension? I think the governor, being the leader of the state, should toe a more reconciliatory line by openly calling for dialogue rather than this hardline stance he has adopted. If I were him, I would go to the rallying point of the unionists and speak to them there and then work out a compromise. Going forward, the governor needs to eschew high-handedness and ensure that tough decisions are taken with a human face. Leadership is about give and take and this hard line does not augur well for anyone. Similarly, the NLC needs to call of this needless "total strike" because, in the long run, it puts more stress on the people. They need to explore channels for mediation and seek a table with the governor to discuss the issues and agree on a plan. Going forward, strikes should be used sparingly and always as a last resort so as not to further exacerbate the fragile security situation across the country. |
family6644:I think you moved on too quickly by going into a relationship barely 3 months after your wife's passing. You did not give yourself and your kids enough time to heal and get the emotional closure required to move on. On the other hand, your new girlfriend should be more understanding of the fact that you need time to get over your late wife. But you can't really blame her for being selfish and seeking to assert herself in a place she considers her new home. Honestly I find it a bit weird and disrespectful to your late wife's memory that you got hooked with another woman so quickly after her passing, so much so that you let the new woman move in with you. But who am I to judge you? My advice is that you get her out of your house and let her move back to her own space so you and your kids can properly mourn your wife. You can carry on with your affair with her but only outside your house. Take all the time you need to gain the closure that you need and then you can move on with a new relationship. If the lady doesn't understand why this is necessary, then maybe it is a sign that you both weren't meant to be together. Frankly, the way she has carried on so far from your explanation is a major red flag in my opinion. Please do be careful so you don't bring in someone that will make life a living hell for your children. Their well being should be your major priority for now. May God guide you to make the right choices. |
Omihanifa:With this elongated detention without trial, the police may be deliberately sabotaging its own case and frankly, it is a shame we are all reacting in a sentimental manner. The Law is blind and blunt. If it is a bailable offence, let him go since rhe courts aren't sitting. The DPP cannot order anyone's remand in custody - only a judge can do that. We almost burnt this country down protesting police brutality last year. But here we are supporting illegal detention because we don't like the person involved. The law should be seen to be fair to all. It is Baba Ijesha today; it could be someone you love tomorrow. On this count, Yomi Fabiyi is right - release Baba Ijesha on bail until the courts resume and he can be arraigned. |
Maxymilliano:I think this guy's strategy is to say whatever nonsense he wants to say and then backtrack and apologize when called out. It's the same thing he did with the Ooni and other Yoruba Obas when he went on a rant, insulting the Ooni, only to backtrack, apologize and even deny some of the things he said live on video. It is the same excuse that drunkards adopt when they hide under the guise of intoxication to say a lot of things and then pretend it was the alcohol talking when they become sober ![]() How can anyone ask Baba Adeboye to be speaking about Yoruba nation in his church? No be juju be that Is RCCG only attended by the Yorubas? |
Racoon:It is a satiric piece. You would have realised that if you had read beyond the headline. |
RuudVanNisteroy:This is a merely political press statement. No science to it. While I agree that the cost of the contract may have been inflated, I expect an opposition party that wants to criticize to be more concrete in their criticism. I am sure the PDP has some good civil engineers in their ranks that can conduct some research and come up with another cost analysis showing how they plan to execute that same road for 155 billion. That way, we can all see that there is indeed a way to deliver the project at that cost and the government is trying to dupe the people. |
thatsleepboy1:What secret? She is very correct to say what she said because appointments in every sector have been politicized. The mere fact that the comments you mostly see in the media about the appointment of the Justices of the Appeal Court are where they are from or what religion they belong to, proves her point. In Nigeria, we hear of an appointment and we immediately check the name to identify tribe and religion. The qualification of the appointee rarely comes up for discussions if it ever. |
I agree the Deputy Speaker's statement was a load of nonsense....but then so is this threat from "Nigerians Abroad". |
Gjrich:I doubt the veracity of this claim by IPOB. I doubt IPOB will capture such a high profile criminal and not put out his picture or video to the public space. It seems to me that this phantom "Mohammed Isa" is only as real as the imaginary "Jubril El-Sudani". ![]() |
ivolt:If you believe that a graduate will be recruited into the Federal Civil service on Grade Level 5 and an annual gross salary of less than 500k, then you are very gullible. Entry-level for Graduates into the Federal Civil service is Grade Level 8. This role is a Project Manager role meaning it is far from entry-level. The least it can be is Grade Level 11 or 12. The letter is so fake it is embarrassing! |
Another pointless attack on a man whose only crime is being ambitious, playing politics, and being damned good and successful at it. Tinubu is one of the most vilified political leaders in Nigeria, but he is also one of the most successful. He moved from being a regional champion to having national influence by building and leveraging cross-ethnic bridges. They write drivel like this about him all the time. They spend a premium on their armies of social media influencers to drag his name in the dirt. But come the next elections, they all scurry to Bourdillon seeking his patronage and validation. They all need his stamp of endorsement for their political ambitions. All the man is guilty of is being ambitious. So what if he actually dreams of being President. If the likes of Sowore and Dele Momodu and the coterie of jokers in our political landscape can aspire to the high office of President, why not Tinubu? How many politicians in Nigeria can boast of his political clout and experience? Leave the man alone to aspire. It is a democracy. If his name appears on the ballot and you choose not to vote for him, vote someone else. Tinubu will be alright with or without the presidency of Nigeria on his CV. |
expressglory:After God, fear government oooo! If dem wan cripple you, na small thing for them. All the power and mouth wey dis one tok say em get now, na ordinary akant naim de freeze wey e don begin shout so. Dem never even near am yet o! |
Lol! Elon Musk invests 1.5 billion dollars and tweets about bitcoin. The value jumps dramatically. Why do I feel like the entire world is been led blindly by the nose down a dark alley? |
mastermaestro:Ok, the next time you or anyone you know gets into trouble or has a dispute with anyone, tender it before Twitter for redress ![]() By the way, I am not been delusional. You can actually express a counter opinion without the personal slur. |

Pmpm:Nigerians and focusing on inanities and irrelevancies. ![]() This is an otherwise sombre event to honour and recognise the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers. But the major highlight and focus of the event is the fact that fatigued pigeons refused to fly. Even all of the major newspapers are not left out of the nonsense trend. Such a big shame! |
Hillard:This one's "god" only sees APC and PDP. Mtchewww! |
