bigtt76: This is totally ridiculous with every semblance to the colonial days when the slave masters keep slaves for pleasure. Point is did he need to insult the poor woman and only retract steps later after being bashed nationwide on social networks? We should not applaud this and the woman should be advised to return such money cos it makes mockery of the woman's status as well as those of millions nationwide suffering under the sun becos of these thieves we call politicians #nonsense
Shame on you for the statement above. The man did her wrong and not only apologized but extended a lifeline to her. We all criticized the governor for what he did wrong. Let us also forgive and commend him for doing the right thing.

Good move by the governor.

God has turned this woman's reproach to a blessing for her. I hope she has also collected the 250K "PDP rescue fund" as directed by the PDP cheesy cheesy cheesy

Needless to say, with the judicious management of the funds, she will never need to hawk in traffic again. I hope she will remember what she went through and also show compassion to others who like her find themselves living the hard knock life.

texazzpete: Yet another indication that the vast majority of Nigerians are gutless and cowardly.

No. ASUU was 'sabotaged and hijacked' when they would go on strike and resume lectures on the basis of empty promises with nothing signed on paper. Now, they are finally fighting for the right thing. It takes a mentally inept fellow to insinuate that the strike is 'political' or has been 'hijacked'.

It was a national disaster more than a decade ago when our universities started churning out unemployable graduates, when lecture halls had the shoddiest of equipment available, when the conditions of service of lecturers was so poor that only the poorest graduates wanted to stay back to lecture.

I don't get you...is it that you do not truly appreciate how terrible our Universities are now? Is it that you do not see how DESPERATELY our tertiary institutions needs revamping...our labs, hostels, lecture halls etc? Is it that you are blind to see that only a small fraction of the truly gifted graduates stay back to teach others and pass on their knowledge as lecturers?

Well, some of us aren't as blind as you are...and we see that truly, desperate times require desperate measures. Kudos to ASUU!

This is exactly what makes the FG happy. One ignorant fellow supporting an FEC that has ZERO of their nuclear family members studying in a Federal University. All their kids enjoy top-of-the line University education. It must tickle them pink when students in Federal Universities that make do with labs with defunct equipment are 'supporting them'.

You poor, naive fellow.

Education › Re: NASU Plans Solidarity Strike In Support Of ASUU. by Reptyle(m): 12:02pm On Dec 02, 2013
FG should please sign the damn agreement and get this charade over with. Instead they keep flaunting GEJ's "13 hours" meeting with ASUU leaders like it is some kind of dividend of democracy. After all it is unheard of in the annals of this country for "his royal Godliness" the president to descend from his mighty golden throne to meet with "common" university lecturers!!!

I do not understand why a government that is serious with negotiations will begin to give deadlines and issue threats after wasting 5 months pussy footing on the issue. I guess that is what happens when you have a politician, and a crass one at that, overseeing a sector as sensitive as education. A president who himself was an academic treats such a critical sector with levity subjecting our future to the shenanigans of the likes of Minister Wike and his bunch of political thugs all in the name of political expediency and Nigerians see nothing wrong with it.

Trust is earned and not legislated. If the FG has failed to implement the terms of an agreement it signed in 2009 and reviewed a couple of years later, is ASUU expected to just swallow the president's verbal commitment hook, line and sinker? I do not think that any one should blame ASUU for holding out until they get the signatures of key government officials on the re-negotiated agreements with the president.

Politics › Re: Shocker! Archbishop Obinna “flogs” Gov. Okorocha At Assumpta Cathedral. by Reptyle(m): 1:56pm On Nov 26, 2013
amakenny: Posted by admin on Nov 25th, 2013
By victor madumere

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha was again at the receiving end of a tongue-lashing from the Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Anthony Obinna, who opened up on the Governor on the finances and allocation of the state.
Venue was Maria Assumpta Cathedral premises and it was the high mass celebrated to mark this year’s Corpus Christi otherwise known as Christ the King in the Catholic Church. In rare display of courage and statesmanship, the maverick cleric lambasted Okorocha in his face by publicly informing the Governor who attended the mass service in person that he has lost touch with the reality and essence of governance, by undertaking unpopular actions related to finance of the state.

Signs that the Archbishop was turbo-charged to disgrace the State Governor at the Church emerged when he failed to recognize and acknowledge the presence of Okorocha and wife, Nneoma Nkechi as well as members of the enlarged Executive Council who arrived Assumpta Cathedral early for the Christ the King Mass. Instead of recognizing the Governor and wife as protocol demands, Archbishop Obinna merely acknowledged the presence of government functionaries and politicians in the church.

It was during the sermon that Archbishop Obinna sent what could be described as ballistic missiles against Okorocha who was dazed by the cleric’s preaching. On explaining how Jesus Christ became the King of Kings after he was killed and became a subject of mockery in the hands of his assailants, the Archbishop delved into local politics where he expressed reservations over the Anambra governorship. Said he; “there is nothing to show for our money in Imo State. Go to Anambra State and see what Obi has done with public money. But here in Imo, nothing. Our money is being used as if it is personal money of the Governor when it is not supposed to be so”.

While reminding Okorocha that it was at the same podium that he was elected, Obinna asked him to retrace his steps before the wrath of God falls on him because the present government has since disconnected from the governed. The Archbishop further told Okorocha who was within a spitting-distance from him, that “people of Imo State are still waiting for the fulfillment of your campaign promises”.
In a bid to further pummel the Governor, Archbishop Obinna while sympathizing with Nigerian politicians for spending great fortunes during elections, said that political desperation forces politicians to seek alternative means like cultism to survive.

Elaborating on the Anambra 2013 inconclusive election, Archbishop Obinna blamed power and money for the desperation exhibited by politicians. The cleric queried the rationale behind the quest of the APC candidate, Dr Chris Ngige, to cling on to power, adding that the intrigues that played out in the recent Anambra Guber election are ominous signs of what to expect in Imo in 2015 election.
While the congregation applauded, the fiery cleric informed the Governor of Imo State that the state allocation belongs to everybody and not his private fund.
Archbishop Obinna lashed at Okorocha for using state money as if it was his personal fund and enjoined him to emulate the likes of Gov Peter Obi of Anambra who makes available the state fund to all strata of society and organizations.
To worsen the matter, Archbishop Obinna went further to deny Okorocha right of response when he closed the sermon and proceeded with other formalities for the service when he concluded with “I know the Governor would want to reply, but he should go home in a prayerful mood, for today is not for talking too much”.
In the same vein, Leaders in the society has been warned to stop playing God or equating themselves with God almighty because of ordinary political or traditional positions. This warning was handed by Rev Fr Alex Okoro of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mother Parish, Emekuku in a homily he delivered during the 2013 Corpus Christi celebration of the Catholic Church at the church on 24th November, 2013.
Earlier in his homily, Fr Okoro explained that unwarranted disruption of the Corpus Christi by rain during the normal celebration month of June made the church agree to merge the Corpus Christi and Christ the King Feast together for November (dry season).
The priest averred that Jesus Christ is the King of Kings ordained/coroneted by the God Almighty, whose reign is characterized, by humility, love, care and justice for the down trodden and advised leaders in the Nigerian society to emulate Jesus Christ and stop playing God by intimidating their subjects with connection, political and financial influences.

If the bishop made all of the highlighted statements above, then there is absolutely no doubt what his political affiliations are. My guess is that this reporter may have twisted the man's words in his report.

I keep hearing conflicting reports about Imo. Some say Okorocha is working, others say he is not. I have not been there since Okorocha became governor. Is there any Nairalander that is on ground in that state and can give an unbiased report of developments there?

A lot of people like you view gas as "made for rich people." Burger01: The senates should define what 'tinted' is and type of tinted vehicle. There are some vehicles with all round tinted and there are some with windscreens, passenger and drivers glasses untinted and which of course the security could see the driver and passenger clearly. Senate should also come out clearly what amount we are expected to pay for tinted permits. Currently I heard the amount is 15k. Is this amount not exorbitant?
So in essence, what these jobless senators are saying is that for 15k, a kidnapper or terrorist can get permit for tinted glass and carry on with his "good job."

Bros with all due respect, the answer to your question is irrelevant to the context.

Jesus Christ while here on earth never invoked any saint to intercede on his behalf. He prayed to God directly. He also taught his disciples to pray in a specific way...directly to God.

It was never recorded anywhere that the early Christians invoked the name of Peter, Paul, Mary or any of the other apostles to intercede on their behalf. Where then did this doctrine originate from? Is the catholic church a custodian of some secret body of knowledge outside that taught by Christ? It is recorded that some of these saints rebuked Christians who tried to direct worship at them while they were alive describing themselves as "mere men." They died and went to their rest. Stop invoking familiar spirits in the name of "Saints"

Honor your saints. But stop asking them to intercede on your behalf to God or to Jesus. They do not currently have that ability. Stop deifying mere men. Stop praying prayers that only make you feel good and holy but are largely ineffectual.

We are aware that during the investigation and hearing of the matter, the Hon Minister exonorated herself of any wrong doing.
It is obvious that she only instructed the NCAA to do the NEEDFUL which implies to DUE PROCESS. We are shocked and saddened at the latest development recommending for her sack.
We are convinced that the committee were bias just for the fact that the Hon Minister hails from the South East.
We condemn it, we condemn it, we condemn it and we shall mobilise a mass protest that shall cripple activities nationwide should Oduah be sacked.
We call on the NLC, TUC, Nupeng, PENGASAN, NMA, NUT, SNG, NBA and every civil society organisation to rise up in defence of our best performing minister Dame Princess Stella Oduah.

normaljenny: My brother, I have seen lots of advices here some are good and some are not good. Kneeling down and begging for forgiveness is no big deal. I can do it too with like 20 mins crying added to it. My candid advice is:

1. Don't hate her and don't send her away.

4. Stop sleeping in same room with her.

5. Change your phone number and keep her off ur contacts whatever. Facebook, twitter. Etc

6. Don't you ever, ever eat her food. because if she finds out through the advise of her friends, mother, or pastor that you are becoming a pain in the ass, then she can be compelled to act rashly and if u should die, she would get another hubby in a year, and as she is getting so ambitious now, she has the automatic ownership to all your stuffs.

7. Threat her like a stranger in the house.

8. Don't ever have family discussions with her.

9. Behave as if your life depends on it.

10. Let it stretch for like two to three months.

11. When she comes for begging, don't give in immediately.

12. There shall not be a third party in the reconciliation scene. It should just you and her.

14. But meet the foolish pastor and tell him bluntly that if you ever see him 250 meters close to any member of your household, that you will "kill" him.

17. Tell her you want a divorce and see how she would react to it. If she is shocked at and scared at it, then know she wants her marriage to stay, but if she is not, then know that can be the last option (deutoronomy. 24:1-4).

18. As you start it, dedicate a week fasting & prayer to God, for the purpose of keeping the family intact and ask God to reveal hidden things to you, as I to know if the pastor has voodoo on her, because I don't trust most of all these pastors with their wack powers.

19. Lastly, don't joke with your life. E no get duplicate.
You are a bunch of contradiction my friend.

You advise the man to do things exactly the way God says not to, and then proceed on a fast afterwards so that the same God will keep his family intacthuh

@ OP

From your story, it seems to me that your wife is a good woman who has made a few misguided decisions in life. At least she was contrite enough to apologize and ask for forgiveness when you confronted her. I know a number of women that will tell you to go to hell!!!

Don't mind all these people here telling you to drive her away. There is absolutely no guarantee that the one you replace her with will be any better.

God brought y'all together for a reason. Humble yourself and ask God for wisdom and guidance to help you deal with this issue. Forgive your wife and move on.

As for your shock at finding out that the priest who joined you both is part of your wife's scheming, do not be shocked! He is but a man.
