Policewoman: And what followership does Kwnkwaso command? Bunch of ret@rded rebellious governors and ex political harlots that cannot even win in their own states? GEJ should ignore them and face d good work he has been doing for the nation. Come 2015 he will be voted back as president. Unless of course he declines to run.
If the present situation in the PDP continues till the primaries, the President will be spared the headache of deciding whether to run or not...he will NOT get the party's ticket.

chukwudi44: Tis kairoseki77 dude is so stupid and totally brainless!! What in the present situation of things lends credence to the claim that GEJ cannot win the 2015 elections? Whatz the essence of a faction not recognised by INEC?
If the renegade faction was as irrelevant as you try to make them sound, why is the President's faction making overtures of peace to them?

You just wait until the primaries and then you will understand the essence of this faction of PDP not recognized by INEC. That is if the President's fence mending mission fails of course.

This President has made more enemies within his party than he has outside it. I do not think I have ever seen a more politically naive politician. At this rate, I hope he wont be forced to accept APC's offer to join their party grin grin grin

GRAILELEM: Gay people are better christians than many straights i have interacted with.
Yeah right. I suggest you read 2nd Timothy 3 vs 1 - 5 and be very wary of the times that we live in. Beware, not just of gays that "are better Christians" according to you, but of all the other pretenders to Christianity and holiness that abound these days.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can You Be A Christian And Still Be Gay? by Reptyle(m): 8:28am On Sep 03, 2013
You cannot choose to continue to be gay just like you cannot choose to continue in any other sin and call yourself a Christian. God causes his grace to abound for us in that while we were yet sinners, he showed us his love by sending his son Jesus the Christ to die for us. But like St Paul averred, we cannot choose to continue in sin just so that his grace will continue to abound.

Having freely received the gift of his salvation, God's Holy Spirit dwells in us both to will and to do according to his good purpose. (Phil 2 vs 12 - 13) if verse 12 urges us to "...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling..." why then do you reckon that you can remain in sin (in this case homosexualism) and call yourself a true Christian?

If you are still of the school of thought that believes that homosexualism is natural and acceptable to God then your struggle is pretty fundamental. in that case I will simply refer you to the same Romans 1 that has been repeatedly cited on this thread. But if your confusion is about whether you can be a true Christian while actively indulging your homosexual tendencies, the simple answer is NO.

mildteddy: The law made a list of the conditions that have to be met before a new life form (a human being) will be terminated. Who told you that you have the right to do that? Can you be able to manufacture a single strand of DNA in a foetus. If you can no problem go ahead and abort as many as you like, but if you can't why terminate a life formed by God, of which we have no idea as to how or why He did. Abortion is Evil and a crime against infancy.
I'm disappointed in Rochas for this, but what can I say... Ukwa ruo oge ya odaa.
We humans are just too selfish, that's why most of us will lose this war against evil.
Sentimental hogwash at best! Like Biafranqueen asked another nairalander earlier, until you state here on this forum one motherless babies home that you actively support with your God given resources, you can take this your holier-than-the-pope act and shove it where the sun don't shine.

You are not more Christian than I am and I insist that there are situations where women should be given the legal choice to procure an abortion. The only modification I would make to the law if I had the power to, is that doctors should also be given the choice of declining to carry out an abortion if it goes against their moral code. In such a situation, they must refer the patient immediately, especially in situations where there is an obvious threat to life.

This law only gives a legal backing to a woman who under any of the aforementioned conditions, DECIDES FREELY of her own volition, to procure an abortion without needing to suffer the scathing reproach from the Bible-thumping hypocrites that abound on Nairaland.

Stop depriving d babies thier chance 2 live

Say no to abortion!!
I agree with the emboldened.

But what of situations where you are ready to have children but the pregnancy is a threat to your life? What of situations where you are a victim of rape? The law as I read in the OP is specific about situations where a woman can decide to legally procure an abortion.

May you never fall into any of those situations.

Abagworo: OWERRI—Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, and Catholic Medical Practitioners Association are at daggers-drawn over the abortion bill the former just signed into law.
The law, among others, permits women to procure abortion at will.

Sponsored by the Majority Leader and member representing Ahiazu Mbaise state constituency, Mrs. Adekunle Ihuoma, the law is to be cited as “Imo State of Nigeria, Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law Number 12 of 2012”.
According to the new law, every woman shall have the right to enjoy reproductive rights, including  rights to medical abortion in cases of sexual assault, rape, incest and where the continued pregnancy endangers the life or the physical, mental, psychological or emotional health of the mother.
The law also stipulates that “every woman shall have the right to take decisions about her health needs and requirements.”
The law was very specific that a woman “shall have the right to determine the processes concerning reproduction in her body.”
Okorocha also approved that every woman should have a right to health, which should be understood to mean enjoyment of the highest level of physical, mental and social well-being and healthcare services.
These provisions include everything relating to family planning.
Chairman, Catholic Medical Practitioners Association, Dr. Phillip Njemanze, has reacted angrily to the law, arguing that “the law is anti-God, dehumanizing and totally unacceptable to the association.
“The law is devastating. With its signing into law by Governor Okorocha, abortion has been legalized in the state and anybody, just anybody can now ask for abortion as a right in the state.”
While recalling that the National Assembly had earlier rejected the bill, especially as it was against humanity, Njemanze reasoned that the law would encourage human egg trafficking.

Seems to me like the law is specific about instances where abortion can be procured. What's the fuss?
You have no idea: SOLUDO would have been a MASSIVE failure as governor! This is the funny thing people and Ibo people cannot see and I wonder why! An Economics professor has no skills whatsoever, relevant to governance of a state! The 'success' Soludo had as CBN governor was attributable in the LARGEST part to OBASANJO who created the enabling environment for him to work and also recruited mostly capable people to complement each other in the administration.
I beg to differ. If you agree he succeeded as a CBN governor, albeit according to you, with Obasanjo crfeating an enabling environment, why do you now reckon that he will fail as EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR of a state where he gets to create his own enabling environment?

Sincerely, if I had the power to vote in Anambra, Ngige would be my first choice based on the impact he made in the short time he spent as governor of the state in the past. But I do not think Soludo will be such a bad choice too.

Oh well it's just a matter of time before Enugu becomes a major hub in West Africa then Lagos will crumble, I'm just so happy next year when we travel home we won't be going through that filth called Lagos.
What kind of evil wish is this? How does Lagos crumbling add to or detract from Enugu's growth or success? Purge yourself of this unnecessary hate...it is killing you slowly without your knowledge.

Yes he didn't condemn the adulterous woman. But he made her to understand that adultery was a sin and admonished her to "Go and sin no more."

Gay people want the world to accept the gay way of life as normal and live with it. In other words, they want to continue in sin and expect the grace of God to abound? It does not work that way.

Now they even want to legislate my acceptance of their lifestyle when I am also within my rights as a Nigerian to say I do not accept that lifestyle. Being a democracy, why do they seek to bully me into accepting that lifestyle as normal? If on the one hand you seek to legislate my acceptance of the gay lifestyle, why then do you frown when I also try to legislate my non-acceptance of it? Are we no longer in a democracy where the minority have their say while the majority have their way?

Why am I been blackmailed on the one hand by the gay people with their sob stories about human rights abuse and stuff and on the other hand by the powerful western nations who are threatening grave sanctions against my country for failing to accept that lifestyle?

What I do not accept is violence against anyone. Hell, I am of the opinion that even a murderer and a child Molester deserve their day in court so why should anyone assault or even kill anyone without recourse to the courts? But this act is reprehensible to me and to my faith and will remain so legislation or not.

Anvaller: so this guy is freed at last and I am surprised that some are even happy for him.

Now that is the problem with Nigeria, we have no consistent sense of reasoning. When the case was fresh, hardly would u find any reasonable Nigerian that would wish that the murderer be set free. Was he not the chief security officer? How can he claim that he was taking order from the president when he himself was the Chief Security Officer? His mandate was to make decisions and execute them to ensure the security of Abacha. That is absolutely pointless, I would only expect him to prove how the victim was a threat to the president at that time and further explain the justification behind illegally murdering her without any arrest and proper legal procedures.

If this guy is set free and we think it's an "OK" judgment, then there is no basis to further complain or criticize the unjust attributes of justice in Nigeria.
He was Abacha's CSO and not Nigeria's CSO. That means he was responsible for Abacha's personal security. What ever power he wielded was the one he drew from his principal.

Fair judgement for a man who was about to be made a scapegoat for the atrocities of an atrocious era, while his paymasters continue to flourish in the corridors of power.

Shame on IBB, Abdulsalam, Jerry Useni and the rest of them who were all senior players in that era but chose to sacrifice a mere foot soldier like Al-Mustapha to assuage the thirst of Nigerians for justice.

What a shame! How can men who call themselves lawmakers degenerate to wielding clubs and bashing each others head in like cavemen.

Also look at what the police in Rivers State has become. A tool in the hands of the highest bidder. One can only wonder why the IG of police has continued to retain the State commissioner of Police in Rivers despite all the controversies that surround his performance in that role. Yet there are people on Nairaland that want us to believe that the federal government does not own the unseen hands rocking the boat and stoking the embers of discord in Rivers.

From this video, the man been manhandled by the police is one of the five anti-Amaechi legislators. That obviously means that the pro-Amaechi faction also has loyal elements within the police...meaning that Mr. Mbu is overseeing a cash and carry police force in Rivers.

It is particularly sad that we have grown so accustomed to aberrant behaviour and occurrences in Nigeria that they no longer shock us. Otherwise, how does one begin to explain a scenario like we just saw where 5 legislators sit in an empty chamber and claim to have impeached a speaker who has the active support of 23 other legislatorshuh
