take dat: The NGF is registered under Part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Act(CAMA) and also draws it legality from Section 40 of the 1999 constitution, whereas the Office of the first lady is not created by the Constitution or any Legislation or Enactment of the National Assembly. It is a "mere contraption" existing at the whims and caprices of the occupants of the position of president. Stop advertising your ignorance for all to see!Nice one jare! But will THEY ever understand? I doubt very much... ![]() |
Hezron Lorraine: jamaicans ain't as homophobic compared to nigeria's status.there are many open LGBT jamaicans,I can only say a few about nigeria and the few are either in a self-imposed exile or in political assylum.u have the likes of bisi alimi,a gay icon to many including me as he has an inspiring story,he went through hell, where his he today, assylum, rowland macauley, the gay reverend, assylum, open gay rights activist ifeanyi kelly orazuilike, exile.the list goes on,what william rashidi.don't know if he's still here or as followed suit.Keep believing all this sob stories about Nigerian homosexuals who were threatened with death. For where?? In this same Nigeria where I live? That is a pure lie! Most Nigerians I know really don't care if you are gay or not as long as you don't bring it close to them. I know a few gay guys but they know not to try that isht with me. But even if they do, the worst they'd get is a bloodied nose. The difference between us and the western societies is that we choose not to accept that being gay is natural. It is a mental glitch that can be cured...but you first need to see it as a problem. These so called "asylum seekers" know that the west has a soft spot for gay people and so they use it as a means of getting out of Nigeria, cooking up fabulous sob stories and shedding crocodile tears and generally becoming superstars in the west. For your information, South Africa with all its pro-gay laws still records much more gay related homicides than most anti-gay countries in Africa. Even in the US, there are still a lot of States especially in the republican south, that have taken a hard stance against homosexualism. |
awodman: Seems you didn't even read the report...if you did you would have seen ωнεяε it was stated clearly that pipelines from Okoloma and Escravos was vandalized...did the report tell you that power plants are not functioning or damaged??Abeg go and sit down somewhere jooor!!!! So now we should begin to celebrate that it was TCN that announced the drop in power supply. I don't know about you, but some of us have ALWAYS known there was a problem. Some of us refused to join in your celebration of marginal improvements as reported by this same TCN which never translated to improved supply...at least not in my area, Satellite Town, Ojo. I consistently begged y'all who were at the time celebrating phantom 24 hours of constant power in your area to share some "Magawatts" to those of us who live in the "rural areas" of Lagos and other States. 3 years, 2 power ministers and billions of Naira into the life of this government, no meaningful progress has been made in the area of power generation and transmission. That is the FACT! So don't ask me to celebrate that government has told me what I already know my friend!!! |
omoikhefue: there's no lie here, dana report is just twisted to suit the purpose. both (OP and Dana crew)are saying the same thing. The rebuttal stated clearly that the said plane WAS NOT AIRBORNE!!! The snag was noticed while they were still on the ground! Besides, air returns happen and are pretty normal within the aviation industry. We just have a tendency to sensationalize every situation in Nigeria. I used to fly and still fly Dana. I flew with them as recently as a couple of weeks ago and I can say they are a very good airline. What happened last year was quite unfortunate but such has happened else where in the world. In April, there was a safety concern with a British Airways plane and it was grounded at MMA. A couple of weeks later, another one was stopped from taking off from the Abuja airport also due to safety concerns. On both occasions, the challenges were sorted within a day and the planes were cleared for operations. Aviation is a highly regulated industry but accidents still happen. May God protect us all. |
yhemster: It is unfortunate for the people in the area, the shocker news is that I heard Tinubu owns abt 40% of the CCECC company. This same company has road projects in Oyo state and Ogun state which am very sure of and probably other ACN states. So they have too much eggs in one basket. Blame it on ACN god fatherlism.Yeah you are right. I also heard that Tinubu is a reincarnation of a first generation Chinese shaolin monk called Tae Noon Bu. ![]() |
MKO may have been all that you described in your post. He may have even sold his soul to the devil and signed a contract in blood. He may even be a 10-horned beast from under the sea. All of these does not change the FACT that he contested for and won what has been acclaimed both locally and internationally, to be the freest election ever in Nigeria. History will remember him kindly for that singular fact. All else pales into insignificance and will remain at best, beer parlour gossip! |
TRUTHTELA: Is this the same Lagos that the Governor is doing "WONDERS"?LUTH belongs to the federal government. |
I don't understand this story. Why would the SSS seek to demolish 5 billion naira worth of foreign investment only on suspicion that weapons are buried underneath? If the President approves and they find nothing, how do they want him to handle the diplomatic issues that could arise from such a move? Methinks there are some people interested in that property and are using the SSS to unlawfully seize it from the owners. Otherwise, there should be a less destructive way to confirm their suspicions against the Lebanese owners. |
She probably tried to treat her pile with a local herbal concoction AKA "Agbo Jedi." While some of them are quite effective, taking them without a stipulated dosage could lead to unpleasant side-effects. Most of the concoctions are made from a cocktail of various herbs and tree barks and sometimes infused in the local dry gin. Some of them are slow poisons. If you have pile or any ailment for that matter, go and see a doctor! |
Is Ogbemudia still in the PDP? If he is, I am sure the folks at Wadata Plaza are typing his suspension letter as we speak! ![]() |
kutchs: He is fighting everyone the way the opposition and his enemies are fighting him through their proxies in the NGF. It‘s a two way thing bro.I am glad you at least agree that the situation was politically motivated to embarass the governor just like they did to Amaechi and Tambuwal. But it is a real shame that GEJ has sunk to this new low of exposing human lives to risk just to prove a point to the opposition. No aircraft can take off from an airport without clearance from the airport authorities. The authorities at the Benin airport cannot claim that they were not aware of the outstanding charges owed before take-off clearance was secured. Oshiomole is only a paying customer and it is not in his place to begin to enquire from the pilot if all his payments are up to date. How many times do you get into a cab or even a commercial flight and begin to question the pilot about the validity of his license or whether he has paid all the necessary dues? Well I guess that now that this has happened, Oshiomole and all politicians in the opposition will have to remember to interrogate their pilots and drivers before commencing any trip to avoid embarrassment by GEJ's NAMA officials. With this new ploy from GEJ, there's nothing saying that an opposition governor will not be stopped at a police checkpoint with the driver asked to put on his "inner light" and produce the vehicle papers for checking ) |
doncaster: Why did they not pay initially? Was it not the same NAMA that cleared the chopper for take off? Why did they clear the pilot, wait for him to be airborne and then ask him to return to the airport thus exposing both he and the governor to unnecessary danger? Or is NAMA trying to tell us that the pilot operated the flight without its clearance? |
It is becoming obvious that Fashola and his team may have overlooked due process in executing the bridge project. What I do not know however is if the Executive was under any obligation to seek for and secure legislative approvals for aspects of the contract apart from the financing. It is heart warming to note that the Lagos State legislature is alive to its responsibilities and asking questions where necessary instead of acting like the usual rubber-stamp to all of the executive's decisions. |
texaco1: The Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Rivers State and Governorship Candidate in the 2011 Governorship Election Dr Abiye Sekibo, has resigned his membership of the party. According to Dr Sekibo in a letter dated Wednesday, June 5, 2013, addressed to the National Chairman of the Party, his resignation is based on personal reasons. “I wish all my friends and colleagues who are still in the party well”, Dr Sekibo said.Sekibo was never a member of ACN in spirit. He only went on hiatus from PDP so he could run for elections in 2011. Sekibo and his ilk are only loyal to their stomachs and na anywhere dem belle face naim dem dey go. I hope he understands that he now has Wike to contend with for the PDP ticket in Rivers State...that is of course if the party manages to vanquish Amaechi before 2015. |
Firefire: State Of Emergency: APC Leaders Angry With BuhariSo these "APC LEADERS" no get name abi ![]() It also just so happen that this strange story was only reported by Nigerian Tribune...says a lot about ![]() |
Hear! Hear! Channels TV need to refrain from casting sensational headlines and exposing their guests to undeserved public ridicule. How could they have cast such a controversial headline after an interview that spanned over 30 minutes and featured 3 guests? That is the stuff we would expect from soft sell tabloids and not reputable TV stations like Channels TV. They really need to watch it. |
touch4mony: and when DG BPP award this contracts and this contracts are not excuted who has failed nigerians is it the DG or mr presido.Does the President's presence at the contract award meetings guarantee that the contractor will deliver on the assigned tasks? |
I thought it was 10,000MW by December 2013 ![]() |
Omojuwa was one of the champions of the Occupy Nigeria subsidy protests. I do not think that such a person would pour disdain on street protests. That protest was one of the most successful protests ever organised in Nigeria and the instrumentality of social media to its success can never be over emphasised. He obviously did not couch his statement properly, leaving it open to ambiguous interpretations, but he did not mean to rubbish Gani's legacy. He only questioned the effectiveness of street protests when compared to the use of new media in mobilizing Nigerians. It is quite a shame that Channels TV decided to create this uproar by casting the headline like they did. Gani did a lot in the area of civil rights activism. He suffered in the hands of successive governments for his principled and often rigid stand on the rights of every Nigerian. More often than not, he was the lone voice for civil rights in an era that saw many activists like him compromising and selling out for filthy lucre. Omojuwa might be young but I do not think that he is so young that he does not recall Gani's battles with successive military regimes. Channels TV is a station I respect a lot. But their recent penchant for inviting guests to their programmes only to embarrass and expose them to public ridicule will soon backfire. Listening to the said programme, I can count a number of healthy debates that could have been stirred up rather than playing up the Omojuwa vs Gani angle. |
Basics007: Ok for a little background info on what actually happened. Omojuwa was a guest on Channels tv program Rubbing Minds. He was asked a question about comparing protests on social media versus the protests on the streets the way the late Gani Fawehinmi used to do. Well lo and behold,he was said to have replied 'what have they achieved?' Well as it is,Omojuwa is presently the subject of a lot of angst on twitter and other social media. Following this he came out to lambast Channels tv and denied making such statements.Beyond reading the comments on twitter and forming an opinion thereof, did you actually watch the video where he said what he said? I did and my take is that Channels TV skewed his statement to make it look like he poured contempt on the activism of Gani. I really do not see what the furore was all about. |
Oh! By the way, can Abati tell us if the other foreign ministers that spoke for their Presidents at the AU event did so because their principals were also attending "side meetings" during the plenary. How important were these side meetings that the President would cede a scheduled speech to an aide while he attends a side meeting? Incidentally, these are the kinds of questions that the Abati I used to know would ask in his popular weekend column in the Guardian Newspaper. Is there something about working for the Nigerian establishment that diminishes ones ability to reason intelligently and ask vital questions? |
Maxymilliano: The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, has described the spokesperson of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change as a medieval-era ignoramus and brainless individual.Did Abati write this or simply put his signature at the bottom of a release issued by Doyin Okupe? Anyway, I'm waiting for Fashakin's response. Something tells me it will be a very good read. |
How can a leade who has proved himself incapable of guaranteeing peace in his domain, concern himself with activities of the Governor's forum? May God help us in this country. |
In as much as this is bad news for Nigeria, why do you spend all your life looking for negative news about Nigeria? People like you can never prosper in Nigeria, as long as you hate Nigeria that much, your best bet is to change your nationality and we will never miss you. Truth is, our politicians are ALL corrupt, including your paymaster Fashola and any other Nigerian politician for that matter. If I dig and show you proof of how Fashola and Tinubu are looting Lagos treasury now you would start calling names, but you feel very happy posting negative news about Nigeria on daily basis. I hate sycophancy. They say charity begins at home. If you claim you are trying to make our politicians change, then start from your state of origin. the same way you scout negative news about Nigeria, do same about your state of origin and we will take you serious. By the way, why did Fashola increase LASU school fees by more than 500% and you didn't say anything about it till date?
I see you belong to the generation of Nigerians who would rather stew blissfully in your ignorance while our so-called leaders rob our country blind. Otherwise, how can you read the article posted by the OP and post this drivel as a response?? IMHO, you are the one who hates your country for choosing to play the ostrich in the midst of the looting that is going on. |
We r still searching for our lost "magawatts" in satellite town o! |
Wow!!! I have to say this is one of the best threads I have ever seen on Nairaland. Thanks to Yeboyes for making his points so succinctly that even the usual ethnic warriors and Jonathan lackeys are stupefied and dumbfounded. Until we as Nigerians especially the young ones realize that this is OUR country and stop buying into the lies that these politricksters sell to us in order to keep us in bondage, this country shall never know peace or progress. We will continue to celebrate the repainting of old airports and the resuscitation of locomotive trains till our 10th generation while these crooks in power hold their nocturnal meetings where they laugh at our puerile gullibility and share the wealth of our land amongst themselves. I feel pain anytime I visit media like Nairaland and see how we as young Nigerians allow ourselves to be distracted by religious and ethnic biases. For how long are we going to continue to compare the present to the past thus anchoring our progress to past mistakes from which we never learn? For how long are we going to continue to justify the foibles of this present government by the failures of the past governments? Why do we vote in leaders who refuse to take responsibility for their lack of capacity to chart a way forward out of this quagmire rather than pointing fingers and blaming everyone but themselves? Is it not worthy of note that the few states that have recorded a modicum of progress are states whose present leadership have taken it upon themselves to make a difference with guts and grit rather than pander to petty politics? States like Ondo, Lagos, Akwa-Ibom and a few others come to mind. Let 2015 be about voting in people who will do the work and not political parties because the truth is that these party leaders meet at night when citizens like us are asleep and laugh at our foolishness, regardless of party affiliations. We need to think and ACT now for the future to be better!! |
SlyIg: So my dear Presido had all these enormous ideas and he was silent all this while?...and have you ever heard of the effects of hunger on the psyche? Go figure! |
Dialled 7411 from Airtel and MTN and it didn't work. Dialled Lagos State's 767 and it connected on first dial from both networks. Perhaps 7411 only works in Abuja. The website is down too. |
When I saw the pictures of the "protest" on Nairaland, I knew most of the people in the crowd were "jobmen." ![]() |
No right thinking Security Operative would like to go and arrest the Chief Priest. Such a person may have himself to blame, as he will be OMBATSHED. 'I be gallant officer', no dey this one because life dey sweet.
I tell you!!! The man is not even on the run or in hiding; he is in his flipping house |
shamson: and that is enough reason for him to kill innocent officers?I don't know about you but I am of the opinion that it would have been the police or the natives. Either way, blood would have flowed on that day and a lot of "innocent Nigerians" would have lost their lives. An entire squadron of "kill and go" mobile police men and SSS officers were not deployed to Alakyo to go and "arrest" anyone. You do not deploy over 100 policemen to arrest one man. They were on a mission to do maximum damage and they would have if they had not encountered what turned out to be the superior firepower of the local militia. Now before you jump on me, I am not saying that the policemen deserved to die. I am just saying that the entire operation was ill-conceived, poorly planned and shoddily executed. So unfortunate. |
Wait a minute! i thought this man was in hiding since the unfortunate incidence. So he is sitting cozily in his house receiving VIP guests like the Senator, while the government plays the ostrich as usual. Na wah o!!! |
