uncleteeh: We are just in a country that isn't progressing economically. It would have been suitable for AirBnB services. And this problem exist only in nigeria ? Does not occur in Europe and North America or anywhere else ? In the final analysis we are all adults shaped by different values , backgrounds and exposures . Everybody should do what suits them , what makes them happy and that they can afford and do legally I do agree however that we are not a prudent country or people . That’s a topic for another day |

diordaves: The majority still adopt the lottery - hit or miss approach to borehole drilling without geological survey. In places like Warri one can get away with not doing geological survey for 90% of the time but not in places like Enugu, Abeokuta, Ibadan. Hit or miss approach could be very costly in such situation. Can get away With it in lagos also |

diordaves: I just want to pass this information to those building in Ibadan axis and struggling with portable water sourcing.
See the attached photos. The company just successfully concluded a borehole project in Oluyole area. The total cost is just under 500k.
This doesn't include the geological survey. This was done separately. Some forego this aspect but it's recommended. The project is a micro estate cum retirement holiday home. The geological survey identified three spots on the site. This was handed to the borehole company and they settled for the site with the best yield.
If you are having water challenges, you may try this approach. It was successful. Please note that there are some sites in same location that the water table is a challenge, hence the need for a geological survey. There are sites in the same vicinity with no water.
I'm not recommending the company or speaking for them. All I'm saying is that the company just successfully concluded a borehole project without drama.
So if you want to adopt this approach, please do your independent due diligence. No money was sent remotely. Someone was on ground and the company's office was visited. Money only exchanged account when the company was on site.
Do your due diligence independent of this information. Or do your due diligence to substantiate this information. My responsibility stops here. Do people do borehole in this age without geological survey ? Looks like one of those Indian companies . Dem plenty for Akala Expressway |

KolaShangOne: 200 years? There's no black that won't fade a bit, longevity depends on the coating.
Although I've answered this in my Roofing thread bit the one thing that struck me here is that you want to use black and you don't want it to fade.
Just go straight to Tower Aluminum in Ikeja, Lagos. They have black that will last longer than the others before fading. It's a bit pricey.
Tower Aluminum, First Aluminum, Sumo aluminium at Mangoro.. etc..
***Try to use 0.55mm and not 0.50mm. ***Avoid Metcoppo if you want peace of mind. ***Normal vorrugation of longspan preferred.
This your house looks like it's around Akingbile or Moniya axis? E be like say you sabi everywhere for ibadan |

lahizak: How about if I wait till the next raining season. I'm not in a rush Nothing comes down in nigeria , if it does it’s temporal , the major trajectory is always upward Am always front loading or buying way in advance most of my inputs , funds permitting . e get why Just paid for another 900 bags of superset, don’t need it now now . Got a deal for 3700 from a dealer , Will probably take it from him in 2 to 3 months time . One of the ways I make serious money in other businesses is keeping good stocks of inputs I bought cheaper than competitors when it was cheaper and they were procrastinating . Am always amazed people don’t stock up regardless of the funding level they have . Petrol might be 320 next year . All the best |

Charisdesigns: On the long run, with a good plan, you will end up saving more.
.............. Let me share this about planning generally
Planning is one step in doing things that is really underrated in Africa. White people plan with most of their time and spend little time doing the job with the best approach. Blacks prefer to get at the job without proper planning, thinking that the time/cost put in for enough conceptual planning would have completed the job. At the end of the day, more cost is spent with a substandard job because of the works that was redone repeatedly. Imagine making a mistake on paper and erasing it, compared to laying blocks and breaking it. Could not agree more with your summation |

BrabusNG: The rising cost of cement has never been a thing of bother for me but the increasing cost of reinforcement.
I think homeowners/builders/developers should work with suppliers/tradespeople and installers to gain efficiencies and keep costs down as much as possible wherever possible.
#constructionefficiency The rising cost of everything is a challenge I always have a mental picture of where I am at for all projects I do and have milestones. Tiles , pop boards, more cement and Acs of recent, Just ordered electrical fittings and shelves Generators , Transformers , lifts and some cables a while ago and on ground milestones left will be glass works / glass windows and doors and the aluminum roofing then am on the home Stretch No building efficiency will beat tmt tiger iron rods I bought at 340 earlier this year that I am still using today. Solution for me is always buy right and buy well in advance , the others Na jara |

AngelicBeing: l know, l also feel sad to say this to you, that my LATE UNCLE was also a product of NMS, from their to NDA KADUNA, from their to different courses abroad in different countries and finally posted to Lagos
He was undergoing a course at Command and staff college (CSC jaji), he came to Lagos with other officers and his course mates but he entered the HERCULES 130 PLANE that crashed at Ejigbo and he died along with several other officers, That course after completing it would have made him a Naval Commander but God knows the best, Rip to Him and other officers in that ill-fated aircraft My condolence , sadly it comes with the territory , remember the incidence well , affected mostly captains and majors . Your uncle Was going to be the equivalent of a lieutenant colonel . May his soul Rest In Peace . |
