AZeD1:NO! Here's how it works: A farmer's produce is worth N2,500, foreigners buy for N10,000 to ward off local competitors. Farmer is happy and then goes home believing he has made some good profit. Originally, the unit price of the produce should be N5 per produce but since foreigners own the produce now, they set the price to N40 per produce, making an insane profit of N35 per produce. But it doesn't stop there. The foreigners price will always create a ripple effect: 1. Wholesalers buy from foreigners and add their profit to the N40 produce, say they add N2 and sell for N42 per produce to retailers. 2. Retailers then add their profit (say N2-3) as well and sell for N44-N45 to final consumers. 3. The same farmer who was paid N10,000 originally will now discover that his money is useless because a ripple effect has taken place and affected other market commodities. He also joins others to complain about how bad Nigeria is without understanding that he is responsible. The monopoly foreigners have on the market is unrivalled. And since local buyers buy at the farm gate, they do not have the balls to peg insane amounts on the produce bought at the farm gate. |
Bobloco:In simple terms, farm Gate means direct access to farmers and their produce. Foreigners buying from them means: 1. The foreigners control the market price. 2. Farmers can be easily be persuaded into ignoring our local buyers since foreigners can easily pay more and then monopolize the produce. 3. Foreigners are only seeking to exploit the market. With this, local buyers will no longer live in fear of competing with foreigners who are only out to exploit the market. Direct local buyers mean uniformed prices and possibly less inflated prices. |

int0x80:Indeed! A world power wouldn't even jump into a war the way Putin did, if their claim about Russia is true. There are actually concerns by war analysts that Putin may have been slapped into a corner at the moment and could go nuclear at any time since things are not exactly going his way. He has already threatened that and so far, the US, amongst its allies, seems to be the only nation bracing up for a nuclear war. Currently, there are over 60 global businesses that have either suspended operations in Russia or divested. The United States is having a field day, without a doubt and their unseen hand is obvious. Russian comms are not functioning in Ukraine and that has left Russian troops confused. Nuclear apart, given Russia's current hardware state, I doubt it can take on big single nations in NATO. I strongly doubt it. |
int0x80:It seems Putin instructed all of them to enter the battlefield and not stay in their offices. Ukrainian soldiers are being killed, without a doubt but the way Russian warlords and veterans are being killed is alarming. It goes on to tell you that Russia is noisy, no war strategies and the only strength it has is its nuclear arsenal. Take that away and you'd see that Russia is just a horse on paper. |
Russian hardware are so old that their tyres are falling off during invasion. It seems Russia kept all the hardware left behind by the USSR, claimed them and thought it was enough to become a super power. The way and manner Ukrainians are seizing hardwares is troubling. The only mighty thing Russia has now is nuclear. Clusterf**k indeed. |
He just had to wear it. I mean, a Ukrainian came first. That is a big blow to already and the insignia was his consolation. |
BigDawsNet:With 130k?
|
efembaba:You can't get a good one for that budget. |
dauddy97:This is actually a gaming laptop but works well for coding. |
Bar1941:It's a proxy war. Ukraine alone wouldn't be standing. |
Wannabenz:The Russian economy is fast dying. The sanctions are too weighty and there is a reason Russia is throwing a fit. As of last week, the Russian Rubble was N4.6 or so. Today, it is N2.98.At this rate, the Nigerian Naira might be stronger than the Russian Rubble by next week or this weekend.

McEphiks:Forget the girl and move on. It is not your business to pay you girl's mom bride price. If her father was irresponsible not to have done that, don't give them your head in the name of love for them to break coconut with. It is not your business. |
thesicilian:It's a strategy. Whether sports, finance, production, sales or marketing, the idea of cutting off Russia is to spark a home crisis. Not blind to what has been going on in Syria and Iraq but invasion in the way and manner Putin did is scary. Nothing subtle about it and worse, your neighbour. |
Truvelisback:Jumping into the fight, as much as they want to would signal the beginning of WW3. They can't. Not like Russia stands a chance against NATO anyways but Putin's assassination is imminent before it becomes a nuclear war. |
pansophist:Dude, it's Monday morning. The amount of nonsense heaped into this one post is alarming! At the emboldened, Russia already invaded Ukraine. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and last I checked, Kyiv is 100% in the hands of Ukraine. Zelensky, as a matter of fact is in Ukraine and so far, Russia has not captured any of Ukraine's regional cities but you created a sharp contrast using Cameroon, Nigeria and Abuja. So 'denazification' led to Russia invading Ukraine? I'll be damned! How is Ukraine not winning when its capital and regional cities are still in their hands and when their enemy is supposedly bigger and larger? Inputting is not necessary. Just watch on instead of this posts which somehow sheds light in your thought process. Just stop. |
richie240:I don't exactly understand the era you live in but 'ethno' is not exactly isolated in Nigeria. "Ethno-religious" whatever is what plagues Nigeria and Buhari, more than ever, did well to divide Nigerians along these lines. Other than the fact that half of the country are Christians, its politics will still creep in. I don't see a Muslim/Muslim ticket flying and that makes Tinubu's ambition dead on almost arrival, other than his incontinence, slurred speeches and hand tremors. Buhari's camp is said to be tipping Osinbajo for good reasons known to Buhari. Muslims in politics are largely extremists, be it from the North or South and it would be too much of a gamble to have the president and vice as Muslims when there is the topical issue of Hisbah, Hijab and Shariah. Believe me, it can't fly. |
maestroferddi:The emboldened does not apply in Nigerian politics. Only a fool would agree such terms with a politician who desperately want power. I think you are missing out a key figure and that is Nyesome Wike. The only person capable of tearing the PDP apart this time is Wike and I strongly believe he will do so, considering the fact that he doesn't like Atiku. |
maestroferddi:That is for sure. However, you are forgetting the power of the incumbent here and the power of the incumbent party. PDP will most likely have problems. Atiku is bent on running and I can tell there will be so many disgruntled politicians in the PDP who will end up decamping to the APC or strike a deal with the ruling party. |
seunmsg:Except there is a Christian North Easterner waiting, I don't see how Tinubu will get the ticket. A Muslim/Muslim or Christian/Christian can't fly in a religious sensitive country as ours. I have an idea of the APC's vice president candidate in the NE and somehow, if true, this article just confirms that PYO will get the ticket instead of Tinubu. |
Obasanjo is subtly referring to Tinubu here. |
foryourmindlol:In the end, the clown who led the Igbos to war fled. Just like Putin, the Igbos fought for the ego and pride of one man who saved his skin and that of his family in the end. |
MrMcJay:Nigeria is not conducive for tech bros. Electricity, harassment and all. Nigeria is not it at all. |
So he killed her in Bariga during an argument, took her corpse, drove all the way to Ogun State, parked by the road side, undressed himself and the corpse and then killed himself? Just tell me Tinubu is a 50-year old man and I'll believe easily over this story. |
jaxxy:The UN is MADE UP OF COUNTRIES. You shouldn't forget that. They vote before decisions can be taken and it would be ridiculous to third war countries, specifically African countries that they are dragged into developed countries' war. Plus, China is one of the charter members of the United Nations and is one of five permanent members of its Security Council, so one way or another, China is an ally of the UN while Taiwan is not qualified to join. So you see how dicey the whole this is? |
tony5:You're deflecting here. The question is whether or not Russia looks weak. Russia has every reason to be worried about Ukraine joining NATO but a major reason why the world condemns Russia now is that Ukraine is a sovereign nation, just as Russia and the invasion is appalling because it is happening in the 21st century. |
I said it from the start! Russia's invasion empowered tyrannical states. The outcome is the morale they need to proceed or withdraw. China vs Taiwan is warming up. India vs Bangladesh coming up. North Korea vs South Korea coming up. The United States might be invasive but a power void is dangerous to the entire world. |
tony5:Russia truly appear weak. Very weak, as a matter of fact and the events of the past seven days show it. Putin has flouted every rule of Sun Tzu's book, including that of Robert Greene. All that is left is to throw fits and threaten nuclear. The EU and NATO can't move close until Ukraine is absorbed into NATO and can't certainly do so now because of Russia's nukes. Countries with nukes are best approached with caution and that is what is at play here. Other than that, Russia looks awfully weak. An invasion that has taken 7 days already tells a lot about the invader's strength. |
mauchiz:I have read so many opinions from different people ascribing some sort of intelligence to Putin, claiming he knows what he is doing and my response remains the same — Putin has lost this war already, even though he might end up winning the battle. Neighbouring countries such as Sweden and Finland will run towards NATO for protection, seeing what Ukraine is going through. The Baltic States long joined and all Russian neighbours excluding Belarus must be thinking the only way they can be protected is to join forces with the West. Putin was supposed to romance border states and every Eastern Europe State but his myopic view and ego failed to help present some better alternatives of getting those countries around Russia to fall in line. The sanctions and how the Russian currency plunged just a day after the sanctions go a long way into telling you Russia and Putin didn't see all of these coming. |
Timekeeper452:It was Russia who denuclearised Ukraine and promised it protection. This took place after the collapse of the USSR. |
Russia is basically saying they would explore the option of nuclear if second talks fail. Russia knows Ukraine is acting the United States script and the former is desperate to negotiate and let everything rest but Ukraine's stubbornness means prolonged sanction, strong unification of allies and greater chances of NATO soaking in Ukraine, even without Crimea. Russia is greatly troubled. |
