Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Marries 2nd Wife by seyibrown(f): 10:58am On Aug 04, 2010
He has committed adultery. He didn't cheat and ask for forgiveness, he carried on cheating and married the one he was cheating with. She is permitted to leave him. He dishonoured his wife, trampled on their marriage vows. Forgiveness is possible but what is he going to do with his new wife? All the men who stayed behind in his church will be marrying multiple wives soon. This kind of things happen with self-styled pastors who feel they are not accountable to anyone.

I pray God gives her strength to see her through this phase. How heartbroken she must be!

I used to attend a church where the pastor had problems with his wife and married another (secretly) and even had a couple of kids with her. You never get to hear it unless you were in the inner circle of the church. He sorted things out with his first wife and the pretence that he is an MOG continues. Church members followed in his footsteps, getting rid of their wives and marrying a new one or just marrying a second one. I remember many women leaving the church with their husbands before a new wife was 'added unto them'

Its not every marriage that is consumated. The holy pastor may have married her to make his  1st wife jealous and wake up from slumber but they may not be having se.x
Bros, they've got kids, so unless the kids were adopted, the marriage was definitely consummated. It takes only one sex session to consummate a marriage, sir!

It is not better for them to chennel thier energy else where than keep on posting and quoting from a creepy-whacky fictious myth called 'Bible'.
Do you not mean that it is better for them to channel their energy to doing more fruitful things than to keep explaining things to people whose hearts are hardened and whose sole purpose is to try discrediting the word of God?

I am laughing so hard at all the responses! Make una take am easy with this bros na!

It's not wrong to marry at 18 but does marrying this it fit into your GF's plans for her life? Does she want to marry at 18? We understand that you are trying to prevent fornication (on both parts, I presume) but you want to be sure of what you are getting in to. Marriage is not just about sex; being virgins as at your time of marriage and staying sexually faithful to each other does not guarantee a successful marriage! There is a lot more to marriage!

How far? You guys married now? Or are you waiting a bit longer? Let us know, please!

@Okija_juju,

This thread is for those who want to pray together! It's okay if you do not want to pray along with us about that particular post. You cannot discourage those who are moved by the spirit of God to pray from praying. The best bit is that you cannot hinder our prayers from being answered  grin  grin  grin. What's happened to this thread? Please don't let it die!

Please spare 5 - 10 mins a day to pray as follows for Children and vulnerable, especially in Nigeria:

1. Ask God to release any children/vulnerable people who are in bondage of sexual abuse;
2. Ask God to send help for them;
3. Ask God to expose perpetrators (and perpetrators to be) of any such crimes against our children/vulnerable people;
4. Ask God to forgive us, heal us, heal our children (of any hurt or damage as a result of any abuse suffered) and protect them;
5. Ask God to give any one who abuses children/vulnerable people a recompense that they cannot hide within 30 days of any of them perpetrating any such acts.

No one pays your death but the Wealthy, or you live within your means. The Wealthy here is Allah Who owns everything? Living within your means is to not over spend in the first place. And if you did, then correct yourself to pay down your death. Allah is the One you go to. Declare your bankrupsy to Him. Jesus did not have enough for himself, how can he have anything for anyone? He is a human and his limits are humanely. Now, go to the Chairman of the Board if you need to have your debt written off. Allah is the One Who Owns the Throne of all. He is above His throne and you cant escape from Him, Oluwaseyi. Se o ti gbo? Mo ti so fun e nsin yin. Ma ku si keferi o. Iya gidi niyen o. To say you have a lord against your Creator is a fool's gold syndrome.
Thanks for your concern as regards my fate in the afterlife. I am happy and content with the salvation of God through Jesus Christ. I pray that God shows you how concerned he is about your fate in the afterlife too and leads you to salvation. God bless you. Amen!

Reminds me of that white couple that gave birth to a black kid back in the ol' days of Apartheid and the Apartheid government began laying square shaped eggs trying to resolve the "problem". Later passed a law declaring that "every child born of two white parents is white", but that did not stop the girl undergoing so much suffering from family, society and government. I wonder what would have happened if Nmachi had happen back in Soweto in those days. Maybe they would have passed a law declaring the kid black? Or, perhaps much more likely, a law declaring that "every white kid purportedly born of two black parents was stolen from a white maternity ward."
LOL! God pass them!
Christianity EtcRe: Is Everyone Born With Original Sin? by seyibrown(f): 7:29pm On Aug 01, 2010
From what we understand from your christian teachings we come to note that you people claim that Jesus died for your sins! and they go further and claim that Adam sin is the cause of his children sinning and yet you go further and claim that Jesus died to neutralize that sin, the question remains why are people still sinning?
Someone pays the debt you owed, commands you not to get into any more debt telling you what the consequences will be for going into debt again; you think going on a spending spree on your credit card knowing can't pay back is the best thing to do? It is not the best thing to do but you still have the freewill to choose to remain a free man or a debtor.

And what do you mean by 'neutralize that sin'? That is the funniest thing I have ever read!
Christianity EtcRe: Why Steve Wonder Is Still Blind by seyibrown(f): 7:11pm On Aug 01, 2010
To reiterate, this topic is not about you, your belief, your practice, or your power. It’s about those who say they are healers when all they do is perpetrate fraud on the people. You cannot say you have no knowledge of self-styled Evangelists, crusaders, prophets, ministers, who go about preying on the naivety of the people. They coined such terms as faith healing, love gift, point of contact etc. Anybody, who does not see them for the fraud that they are, has himself to blame.
I stated in an earlier post that 'I do not believe that all healing is fake'. There are unscrupulous people who claim to be able to heal just for worldly gain.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Steve Wonder Is Still Blind by seyibrown(f): 7:05pm On Aug 01, 2010
So, let’s take our earlier disagreement as a guinea pig.  I cited God’s physical restrictions for priests.  Then you cited Paul’s epistle, which appeared to say that the Law had changed.  But we know that the Law, which God had pronounced, cannot change or be broken.  It cannot be taken back.  I see no need to cite the bible.  I believe you are aware of these provisions.  So, is there a conflict?  Does one scripture nullify the other?  My answer is no.  Paul’s statement of change coming with the Priesthood of Christ was not targeted at the priesthood requirement.  So, what was Paul talking about?

Remember that Paul was hot honored with the presence of Jesus.  He came in the game during overtime.  He never wrote Gospels.  He wrote letters; hence his writings were called epistles.  That particular letter was addressed to the Hebrews.  These were new converts, who were heretofore entrenched in the rudiments of the old.  You well know that old habits resist change.  Those Hebrew still held on to the old traditions that Christ sought to change.  Paul was admonishing them to let go of traditions of men and hang on to the commandments of God.

Before the coming of our lord, people sacrificed animals, by the medium of High Priests, to curry God’s favor, or gain remission of sin.  Getting them to forgo those personal efforts that they had latched onto for millennia and get under the umbrella of Christ’s sacrifice was a tough sale.

It’s like telling contemporary Christians to abandon Christmas observation.  The priesthood of Jesus did not change the requirements of priesthood, but the once all-important sacrifice.  Paul was trying to impress upon them that the sacrifice that was performed by the priests of Aaron and Levi of limited office had been suspended in favor of the of Christ’s sacrifice, which endures forever.

Paul couldn’t have meant the law was abolished because Christ himself said he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill.  And his letter to the Hebrews had nothing to do with the requirements of priesthood or the qualification of aspirants.  He only sought to encourage them to leave those scarifies and accept the new.
You will find that blemished priests are still not allowed in Judaism. Pastor Obadare is not a Jew and was not chosen as a priest in that order. Given your opinion on  this disqualification, what is your opinion on circumcision as was commanded Abraham and his descendants? Any Minister of God not circumcised is not consecrated to God?

Do you remember the vision Peter saw before Cornelius' men arrived?

Acts 10 vs 9 - 15
9 On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.
10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance;
11 and he saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground,
12 and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air.
13 A voice came to him, “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!”
14 But Peter said, “By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean.”
15 Again a voice came to him a second time, “What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.”

Please consider what Peter was being told in that vision to your theory about blemishes disqualifying a follower of Christ from being a minister.

@ PrinceEmek,
There are a couple of things you wrote that rubbed me the wrong way, which I’d prefer to let slide, as the contrary would derail this discussion.

I don’t see myself as twisting your words.  You cannot write things and expect readers not to paraphrase, or even bring in converse interpretation.  I’ll give you an example.  You wrote:
Quote
Any intelligent person can tell from my responses to this post that I do not believe that God does not heal
Are you not, in effect, saying that only intelligent people can tell your belief?  Conversely, anyone who is incapable of telling your belief is unintelligent; or plain silly.  A hundred people would report it a hundred different ways.  That is the nature of the language. This is the reason why ambiguity is a no-no in the literary world.  You must leave no room for unintended interpretations.
I have re-worded the offending bit. I sincerely apologise, I meant no offence.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus Did, They Did, Why Not Us? by seyibrown(f): 4:22pm On Aug 01, 2010
Thanks beloveed. I know we do not have to be MOG before God works through us! There are many friends around me who God works through who are not ordained ministers.

yes that is true but i have some doubts abot this sentence not all are prepared to do what it takes to be a channel for the gift of healing and miracles.

note Christ did not say do this and that then this things i did you will do but this what He said
v12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

the only one thing is BELIEVE and that He is Gone to the Father. For me i see a Promise not rules to be done before such manifest.
Coincidentally, in church today, the sermon was 'Elijah - the power of a praying life' - James 5 vs 16 and I Kings 17 vs 1. Elijah prayed, listened to God, obeyed God and God worked mightily through him. Jesus also spent a lot of time in private praying. He also fasted. We know what wonders were worked through him. When we BELIEVE, we will let him guide us and lead us. When he says fast and pray and we do so, we are OBEYING him and  we will receive the end of obeying him.

Elijah went Zarephath and Paul went into the desert. He teaches us lessons in the places he takes us through. He moulds us, works on us before letting us loose. You need to let him work on you if you want him to work his works through you.
Christianity EtcRe: Speaking In Tongues by seyibrown(f): 3:58pm On Aug 01, 2010
You can speak in tongues without having hands laid on you. Some people need someone to lay hands on them so they can receive it. Speaking in tongues is not 'chanting incantations'. The Holy spirit gives you utterance and speak and pray in the spirit because we do not know what to pray for all the time. You don't practice it to get the utterance but you do get used to it. You will understand what you are saying in tongues( as you speak or afterwards) if you have the gift of interpretation of tongues.

I Corinthians 12 v 27 -31
27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.
28 And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.
29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they?
30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?
31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.

Ask God for the gift of diverse tongues if you wish to have it. It will come without hands being laid on you or God will direct someone to lay hands on you so you can receive it.
