pugilist: Yeah.....I've submitted my application since early January but one of my recommenders responded last month so my application status just changed to completed. Materials Science & Engineering ( Been interested in the study and mitigation of Corrosion lately)
You must have applied since last year for you to have gotten your admission now, right?
I started my application mid January and one of my referees provided his recommendation early Feb or so.
I just got admission few days ago. But don't worry, it is well. Na the visa interview be the real koko.
bartino: Good morning pals,I got my acceptance letter for Ms in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University. Any review about this school and anyone with idea of VISA chances? I welcome any further advices, thanks in advance.
I just saw 'Birdman'. I'm shocked the Oscars could go for such an 'unconventional' movie as 'best picture'.
I actually enjoyed the movie. Solid acting all round, impressive direction and another edit-defying cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki. And I love the comedic lines here.
I am already seeing it again. It's a very rewatchable film. I love it! And it's open to interpretations...it's a crazy film indeed.
Seems like I always like dramedies or dramas with comedic elements the most: Silver Linings Playbook, Midnight in Paris, and now Birdman.
Favourite dialogue in the movie (from first viewing):
Zach: (To Michael Keaton) I've been reborn brother, and I can see the future. This play is gonna last forever. It's gonna be in London and Paris and the studios are gonna call again, you're gonna get some booked deals, you'll see...
Amy Ryan: So, you can see the future?
Zach: Yes, I can see into the future...
(Amy slaps him.)
Amy Ryan: How about that uhn? Did you see that coming?
AIZubair: Bad idea. Please stick to crazyman's advice I beg you
The quoted is a bad idea too.
Please stick with what your heart is telling you. In situations like this, one's case may just be an exception, the rare success story of persistence everyone wishes to tell but can't risk going for it...
You are 21 years (age is kinda on your side), your parents are willing...so far you're sure this is what you WANT to do, go for it...and ensure to make the risk worth it.
I will suggest you go abroad for the Medicine programme if possible (not sure how that works though, but just a suggestion).
TochiPhotos: "I want to be a professional footballer but my dad sad it's education first. I'm not a school person, I feel like I'm wasting my time, I should be out there following my dream. Last year was my saddest year ever, I lost my best friend, he had appendix and the doctor operating on him made a mistake during the process. The hardest part was that before he died, he started getting better and responding to treatments. Then we would chat all night and I was so happy and full of hopes then one morning, we were told he has passed on." www.thehumansoflagos.com
This one should be put under permanent surveillance... She might become a suicide bomber when PDP loses the Presidential election, which they definitely will
FriedPlantain: You both are actually right but the truth is do these companies check the applicant's address on his/her CV when shortlisting one for an interview or test? The answer is that most companies don't. I remember how long as a young chartered accountant, I stayed in Niger state applying for jobs and missing numerous job test and interviews. Not until I got my sorry a55 down to Lagos did I finally land me-self that job. Well that it worked for me that does not necessarily mean it would work for you, I'm giving an advice. FriedPlantain
Bro, I get you totally. I also just moved to Lagos under the guise of NYSC. But what is a problem remains a problem even if some of us have found a way to meander around it.
No one knows how far the complaint of the OP can go, that's why I didn't go with the 'you should also move to Lagos' answer.
While we are getting used to a problem, let's still keep eyeing its solutions and saying them at any platform we have.
FriedPlantain: My guy move to Lagos to find your desired job and stop complaining on nairaland.
I know a lotta peeps in Lagos that haven't seen ordinary one test invite since graduating yet you are here ranting lubbish.
FriedPlantain
The OP has a point though...companies should put into consideration where the applicant claims he/she stays on his/her CV. It's either they don't invite the person based on distance issues or send an invite with enough time for preparation.
You don't expect EVERYONE to come to Lagos, Friedagbalumo.
Misogynist2014: When we have poly, colleges, monothecnics. The fact is that most opt for courses they are not intellectually capable of studying. Haven't read the story, but I hope you are dead.
Evina: I do NOT believe in luck! I believe in favor yes! I also firmly believe in preparation and confidence.
Also, remember I already mentioned that I do NOT sell myself the same way in every interview. The way I sell my brand and skills, is dependent on the job I am applying for and the direction of the interview.
With ALL sense of modesty, I MUST state that I have never failed to impress in any interview.
Ride on gurl. Nice post in response to that of Tolutweety.
WhyNa: Lol. Dude I applied since October last year and the deadline for my courses were December. The results will be out from march 1-15th except there's a postponement. That you got a mail asking you to send some documents doesn't mean you were successful or would be automatically granted admission. Erasmus Mundus admission and scholarship goes hand in hand. That's why you apply at the same time i.e admission/scholarship. However, some courses give you the opportunity to move your application to the self-funded application if you don't get the scholarship. That too isn't a guarantee that you will be granted admission.
I said March cos some departments especially the ones that closed early would start rolling out results by March. Doesn't mean ALL departments will bring out their result in March
I suspected our courses were different anyway. For my department, it's first week of April.
WhyNa: It's March and results would soon be rolling out. Has any one from any course received any notification? ccsurplus0007 Hope8888 okzcorp marvelousgod solarpower1 sholay2011
Results rolling in by March? I don't get you. Maybe you didn't apply before February 1.
I did and got a positive notification on Feb 19 that I should send hardcopies of my documents before March 23 (I don send am last week sharp sharp) in which I would get a feedback when they've received the documents I sent and will then grant a provisional admission.
By the first week of April, I will know if I got the Erasmus Mundus scholarship or not.
So, how does the month of March come into this as a decider? Enlighten me pls.
Had a party yesterday the 28th and the birthday continues today at church and after church and on Monday at work party continues We enjoy more than everyone else sef Especially when one of the days falls on a weekend
Happy Birthday to me . . Thanking & praising God for seeing another year. Its only God.
LordReed: I used Will Smith in MIB for comparison because that is the style of Nkem Owoh's acting so if you don't consider Will Smith a slapstick actor why label Nkem Owoh as one?
Yes you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to call you out on it.
LordReed: That's just it, Nkem Owoh's acting is not slapstick like, he can inject humor even into serious situations. Would you call Will Smith's acting in MIB slapstick?
It's my opinion bro.
And is MIB a slapstick comedy in the first place? There are some moments of such but please find a better example.
Bro, this is not a debate whether Nkem Owoh is funny or not. My point is he is okay as an actor (seems acting in nigeria is about cracking people up ) but has a limited range!
