FashionMost Terrible Thing That Ever Happened To You During A Beauty Session.. by slimyem(op): 3:41pm On Nov 20, 2012
I'll go first..
It was at the hairdressers...
I was having kinky braids done and it had gotten to the part where hot water had to be used to curl the braids..
Because the hair was short and the heat of the water,i didn't know when i jumped and had the hot water pour over my face..
It wasn't funny..
Everyone started running around looking for raw eggs and pap water..
The healing process was terrible..
I thought i'd be scarred for life but thank God for beautiful skin..cheesycheesycheesy
My face looked as normal as ever from 3 months after the incident..

PoliticsRe: Should Nigerians Be Given Financial Incentives To Go For Optional Sterilization? by slimyem: 8:49am On Nov 20, 2012
talina: Better ways are addressing poverty.
Better ways are making a more responsible and functional government!
I dont agree with this reversable steralization thing. It shouldnt happen to begin with.
People everywhere need family in a reasonably stable and functional society.
Maybe give incentive to having a smaller family but also the government must make comprimise and support.
IMO
this wouldn't be a bad idea...!
PoliticsRe: Should Nigerians Be Given Financial Incentives To Go For Optional Sterilization? by slimyem: 8:39am On Nov 20, 2012
I would think that our large population is the only thing we have had going for us in this country for a long time..
Its a large market for investors...but it'll also be our undoing...
The povety level will make a lot of people jump at the opportunity....and the illiteracy level will make a lot also reject it..
Its a dicey one...but seriously,we need that shyt!!

FamilyRe: Do/Would You Tell Your Kids Your Age? by slimyem: 10:27am On Nov 19, 2012
BlueDiva: You must be a genius by coming up with that assumption from what i wrote.
Now let's go to school here. Comprehension 101

1. A general observation, a hypothesis if you like.
2. A test of that hypothesis using nairalanders as a sample. If people started telling their ages then it means the statement has been proved wrong.
3. A conclusion on statement 1. Which has been proved right too because folks ain't telling.

Now, i'm a Nigerian and a nairalander and that statement of age being a big deal also holds true for me innit.
I can't remember saying i was different.
lose the sarcarsm...
You post subtly inferred that you were different...and that was was i was trying to draw out/be clear on.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Have You Ever Gotten Lost As A Kid Or Even As An Adult? by slimyem: 9:11am On Nov 19, 2012
Yes,as an adult......
I was at Iyana Ipaja going to Jakande estate..in Isolo and it was late.
Nor be say i nor know road o but someone had told me i'd see estate straight from there that it was cheaper and faster and i don't have to get to Ikotun first.. so i just jumped into a bus that was going to estate...and off it took me to Ipaja estate..!
I didn't realise i was lost until i got to the last bus stop and every where seemed unfamiliar...
Long story short...i suffered that night.
Got to where i was going about 11.pm after spending triple the amount i was to spend originally.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Protestants Use The Rosary? by slimyem: 10:53am On Nov 18, 2012
Why the generalization?
Because you know one or two protestants who do that means "protestants" now do it?
Besides, haven't you noticed that the rosary is a new fashion craze amongst some youths lately?

ileobatojo: Coerced into having s.ex = r.ape. Please take a moment to research this in your spare time.
oops!
Forgive my wrong use of the word..
Been smoking some whatnots...
"Psychological manipulation" is what i'd like to call it...

Says who? So if someone snatches me, takes me into the bush, has sex with me against my will by threatening me or holding me down and I don't scream or fight back, that means I wasn't r.aped?
In all honesty, would you or would you not do anything to try to save yourself from the situation?
Would you just oblige and lie there like a dummy all through it?
Was a gun/knife the instrument of coercion?
Haba!

ileobatojo: Was she r.aped that night or not?
I wouldnt think it was r,ape....especially since she wasn't a minor and she didn't tell the op that was what it was...
"Coerced" is more like the word...
If she didn't scream or fight back the first time it happened(we don't know for certain she did),then its not r,ape!

BlueDiva: Didn't you read my comment about revealing ones age being a big deal for Nigerians?
This is not a 'reveal your age' thread.
Are you not a Nigerian??
Your comment inferred that age aint no big deal and one should be willing to tell it all the time not minding who is asking or the reasons for asking...
Or isn't that it??
FamilyRe: She was Intimate With Her Uncle. Should I Still Marry Her? by slimyem: 3:59am On Nov 18, 2012
Lets just stop making excuses for this lady...
Some years ago,a friend/neighbour was in a similar position..
She was 19 and staying with her aunt whose husband(a big politician in my state) had been hitting on her for long but she ignored...
The girl was in 200L then but she was going to school from home.
The aunt was pregnant with her second child in labour at the hospital but the husband came to sleep home.
My friend said she served this man food, tucked in the baby, said goodnight, went to her room, and locked the door.
Sometime in the middle of the night, she heard sounds, woke up and found it was the door knob...someone was on the outside fiddling with the door trying to get in.
It happened countless times after that and the man made her life hell for not bulging..,questioned every male contact on her phone, deleted them, seized the phones, reported her to the pastor and lots of trash. She eventually fell out with her aunt when the trouble became too much and she moved out.
Should i also include that she had no one to turn to as her mother was late, her father...a very old man in the village and one younger sibling?
It was tough but she survived..
She's happily married and with a kid today..
.
The circumstances are quite similar except for the 2 year age difference..
Point is...the girl being debated could have left if she wanted to..
If she couldn't leave at 17,she could have at 18,or 19,or 20...
Why did she stay back?
