FG again, as though they will attend to the common man.
Wouldn't it be better to work with doctors to identify people at high health risk to covid-19 and give them preference?
We already know they'll have no system in place for the infants and elderly.
I better understand those who keep advocating never to rely on government for anything in life. |
Family › Re: Love Is not always sweet .. 7 years marriage experience by sonofthunder: 3:59am On Mar 02, 2021 |
Rhodaogunpeju: I decided to write this because I have come to realize that Love can get boring.. . I remember when I met my husband , he was such a Nice and handsome Man. I mean I already decided if he ask me out I will say yes from the first day I met him but I still made him beg and purse me for a whole year before finally accepting to date him ..
6 months after our relationship we got married. and our marriage was bliss , I married a friend , we have our downs and quarell but we always make up before we sleep because of the fact that we made it compulsory that we must have a family prayer Every night , we usually settle most of our fights during these prayers ..
But sometimes marriages can get boring , you have gisted all the entire gist ,talk about everything talkable till there is actually nothing to talk about,. Then the husband starts drifting away .maybe he's got a new friend or found a new love ...sometime this new love might not be a person ,For instance my husband new love is politics..He's always working and when he's home he is either watching the News on Tv and even when he tries to talk to me he will be like "Baby can you believe what kai muhammad said again"..
And I'm just sitting like who and what is my concern with lai muhammad?... Yet he doesn't see my reaction,he just continues to talk untill we fall asleep.i listen to him because I have to he is my husband.
The love flame was slowly wearing our ,I mean he no longer wants me to wait for him before I eat. .. if I call him to inquire when he is coming back home , he replies with "I don't know but eat o.. don't wait for me "...
How about the sex life ... What use to be mind blowing sex is now just average .just because he's had too much if it ..I could also say the same about me..I mean before seeing my husband in boxers turns me on but now even if he's naked it doesn't seem to move me Hmmm but regardless I still love my husband. .I have sat him down many times and talked about spicing things up but you know Men... Anyways the moral of my story is that when you marry ..marry someone that even when he/she changes you would still love them because trust me they will.... . You better wake up and get to work on your marriage. Most of the folks here are happy to see you have a divided home. Additionally, most of the problems you outlined are things that other couples overcome in their marriages. The earlier the better. Wishing you all the best. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: How The US And Iran Became Adversaries - A Brief History (Photos) by sonofthunder: 10:56pm On Feb 27, 2021 |
EmeraldKing7: Iran has been existing as ancient Persa thousands of years ago even before Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492
They was actually a time Persia was the world power before it was conquered by Alexander the great and the Greek empire
Apparently when world power shifted to the west, there was always interest in Iran because of her oil deposits.. Starting with the UK in the 1900s to the US in modern times.. Eventually Iranians beacame tired of foreign involvement in their affairs, and rallied themselves to regain control of their natural resources..
This is what has led to a whole series of revolutions, economic sanctions, trade wars, actual wars and even terrorism
Enyi...,Christopher Columbus voyages across the Atlantic paved the way for European colonization and industrialization of the Americas.
Its Europe that made America what it is today Most Americans are desendants of European migrants, black slaves and assylum seeking Hispanics The real inhabitants are the red Indians and they are not even up to 2% of the total population of US Yes brother, the Europeans made America what it is today by killing the native red Indians thereby reducing their population to a miserly 2%. They also misconstrued history to make it look as though they found, discovered and developed America into the great continent it is today by burying the truths behind the lives sacrificed under the foundation of their "great" nation. God bless America!!! |
Family › Re: HOw Do African Youths Deal With The Numerous Bills From Family And Friends? by sonofthunder: 6:02am On Feb 27, 2021 |
HappyNigerian: It’s the beginning of a new year and that means new bills and more responsibilities and thinking back at last year just gives me some sort of joy at how I have planned this year for my bills.
My family lives in Ibadan and I live in Lagos and I must confess that it is such a struggle to pay their bills while working in Lagos here. I am the first child so I have to send my family money every month, and my siblings every week.
My family DSTV bill is also something I have to do monthly while I also ensure that all my siblings get airtime on their phone every week. It is such a traumatic experience when I remember that as I am planning all this small small money that when you calculate it, it becomes big money, I have to also plan bank charges inside of it as well. I moved out of the house at a point to make ends meet as the first son of the family especially as my parents are getting old and I’m their only source of livelihood as it is right now, some people say you do not owe your parents anything but well, I do not believe in this and I take care of my parents and see it as my duty and what I owe to them to do.
Schools have resumed, Nishola, my sister needs to go back and would need fees and other miscellaneous expenses. Femi my brother is preparing for his WAEC to enable him get into the university. My parents of course have medical bills to be sorted as well every month.
When I calculate this in total every month including bank charges, it is over 100,000 monthly that I spend last year not until this January when someone mentioned how PalmPay gives people rewards when they do transactions. At first, and as usual, I did not believe it but that is not the point of the thread.
The point of writing this thread is really to ask, how do African Children deal with the numerous bills that they have to pay for the family and friends? Encourage your siblings to take up little jobs or learn skills. |

Penguin2: Zungeru power plant is a Jonathan's brainchild.
It's possible he paid FG's counterpart funding in full before he left office.
Or you want proof?
MODIFIED:
I've been clarified, and I researched too, that Zungeru power plant was conceived in 1982 by then NEPA and as such not Jonathan administration's 'brainchild'. Aside that, every of my claim above is true.
The project was never started until 2013 when GEJ kickstarted and made funds available for it under PPP.
This is same way GEJ kickstarted and paid FG counterpart funding for Second Niger Bridge under PPP but brainless fools still argue it.
This same way GEJ awarded contracts to CCECC for the upgrade of our airports including construction of New Terminals which Buhari is taking the glory today, but idiots with cow dung for brains always wanna twist the truth.
When would you fools accept that you made a terrible choice by foisting a brain dead tribal bigot as President whose administration has brought nothing but tears, raping of our wives and daughters, maiming of defenseless farmers and killing and wasting the destinies of the youth who dared protest their misgovernance?
Today, communities in Ogun and Oyo are leaving their ancestral lands for herdsmen and you can't bury your heads in shame for the disaster you brought upon yourselves trying to spite the Igbos.
Today, SE is the most peaceful region in the country because we defend our land in unison while the Murics and the Oba Akanbis of the Southwest would let the cattle take over the whole of Yoruba land than speak against the Caliphate.
One word for y'all: "We warned you"! And for those that want proof, help yourselves out of ignorance below... I wanted to help put your facts straight and reduce the misinformation in your post but seeing the later parts of your modified post, I'll just leave you in your ignorance...... Cheery on. |

Programming › Re: Why So Many Junior Developers Struggle To Get An Opportunity. by sonofthunder: 11:58am On Feb 20, 2021 |
tensazangetsu20: Tech is honestly the best industry to get into right now. The opportunities are numerous. Almost every job vacancy out there is tech this tech that, developer this and developer that. I stayed in school for 4 years studying for a useless engineering degree and I have never in my life seen a vacancy for the rubbish I studied but there are tech roles every day. But in spite of so many jobs in tech, a lot of new developers struggle to get opportunities. I started being active in the tech community recently and I am meeting developers who have been coding for 5 to 7 years but have never had an opportunity. Talking with them has led me to discover that it's actually not the tech industry but a few of the reasons I am listing below.
1. You follow the trends: A lot of us developers love to focus on the sexy trendy stuff. Newsflash, what is sexy and trendy isn't used and even when used is used by very few companies. So millions of people who have struggled to learn the sexy stuff are all going to fight for those few roles out there. Take for example the latest coolest CSS framework tailwind. It's really cool and hyped up and it's like the go-to framework right now but the thing is in the industry people are still using bootstrap. People are learning tailwind but they don't know the number one CSS framework out there. Just because something is cool and sexy doesn't mean that everyone is going to switch to it overnight.
If you give junior developers a chance between Angular, React, and Vue. A lot of people are going to pick Vue. They will say it's sexy and cool and has a ton of GitHub stars. There are jobs using Vue but they are so few compared to React and Angular that you would be pigeonholing yourself by learning that. Theres a whole of difference between coding for fun and coding to get a job.
2. You have unrealistic expectations: This is something I usually see on Reddit cscareerquestions but it seems to becoming a norm amongst everybody. People believe that if your salary isnt starting at 100k USD a year or you dont work for a tech company, you arent a developer. Its so elitist and unfortunately a lot of developers in Nigeria are beginning to have this mindset. They learn HTML, CSS, JS. They have built absolutely no projects but because someone said you need the knowledge of DSA to get a job they immediately start grinding leetcode day and night with the hope of getting into Google. You learnt to code from a Udemy course and you really want to compete at DSAs with people who went to MIT. People who have been doing competitive programming since 5 years old. People who get gold medals at the international olympaids of informatics like its nothing. . Funny enough, I also had this mindset when I was learning to code but corrected myself later on. The truth is that not every tech job out there tests with DSA or needs knowledge of DSA and not everybody must work for a big tech company. This reasoning is so flawed. It is like saying every lawyer must work for law firms like wale olanipekun and co or every engineer must work for exxonmobil. There are a ton of jobs that will pay you well as a junior developer like really well and you need not struggle to get them. They wont test you with DSA. They would only look at the complexities of your projects and go through them with you. By well paid I am talking of 500k and above. Ask yourself how many people asking you to do DSA in Nigeria have not yet worked at Google. There are even whatsapp groups dedicated to DSA and if you cant solve one you are kicked out. The person giving you DSA is not working at Google or Facebook hmm give yourself a brain o.
3. You do not know how to cut off the bullshit from social media: There's so much information out there today but if you don't know how to cut off the bullshit from what you need, you would waste your time. A lot of influencers and creators are putting information out there for themselves. They follow the algorithms and put out what is going to give them the most value in terms of money for their time. If I put out WordPress content, nobody will watch it but if I go out there and make MERN stack tutorials I would be getting millions of views but to be truthful you do not need the MERN stack as a junior. No one is using MongoDB in prod. Very few websites use Nodejs. You are just limiting yourself with that. If you want to be a full stack developer look at things like C# and Java springboot. Those pay really really well and there are even certifications you can acquire in those frameworks that can help get you opportunities at enterprise companies that use them especially if you don't have a computer science degree.
4 Your projects are not worth paying for: People put out calculators, todo lists, tictactoe games and a lot of bullshit on their portfolio and wonder why they aren't getting interviews. You have applied for 100 jobs and haven't been called back and you absolutely do not know the reason why. Nobody is going to hire you with a to-do list and a calculator on your portfolio. Even if you get an interview, is a calculator something you are going to show your interviewer. What happened to making a social media application, a chat application, a blog, an analytic tool, a dashboard. Something that people actually use in the real world every day. I remember one of the first interviews I have, one of my projects was a payment application I used paystacks API for. Everything was done with HTML, CSS and Javascript and once my interviewer saw the project and the button I used to connect the API, he made an offer to me immediately. Your projects matter especially as a beginner. One solid project is better than 100 garbage projects.
5 You don't research: Honestly, in this tech thing, I take what everyone is saying as bullshit. The senior developer I work with an Australian guy was telling me to learn web assembly if I really want to get a job with visa sponsorship which I so desperately need. I am tired of remote especially doing it from this shithole zoo of a country. I went to Linkedin Jobs and various countries indeed websites and I couldn't even see up to 500 jobs total in web assembly. Why would I waste time learning something that has no jobs because it might be relevant in ten years. Nodejs came out in 2009 and it is still not relevant in 2021. What is the probability that web assembly will be relevant in 2031. Research. When people tell you to learn a technology. Go to linkedinjobs and indeed and check how many jobs exist for that technology worldwide. People always advise you from their own point of view but the point of view of a senior developer in America, Europe or Australia is not the same for you a junior developer in the world's poverty capital.
Tech pays provided you do it right men. Another awesome and eye opening write up from you brother..... I always Learn from your articles. When are you going to make a writeup on how freelancers should charge for job done? Especially those that charge ridiculously low amounts for web designs and mobile apps that make you wonder what the project will achieve. |
