SW votes is too small and diluted to make much difference for Tinibu. Realistically, which states in the NC will Obi win? chigoizie7: It is very clear that the entire pvc system n that local government might not be upto 300k, however the total number of those pvc found is not also upto 50k.
It was a deliberate plan by someone in Inec to disenfranchise those people so that they will use them to rig elections. From INec data base, morethan 90% of pvc there have been collected. Someone in the Inec ticked that all have collected meanwhile they dumped it inside boss. I just pity the said staff that collected money to do such thing, from the look of things, the plans did not work so he/she will have to vomit the money. But come to think of it if we want to look at this thing logically, Why would someone who wants to disenfranchise people go and dump the PVC inside forest? If he doesn't want them to have it ever can he incinerate them? If he just want to keep them till the election is over are there no safer places to keep a bag containing PVCs in his house or anywhere else apart from that bush path where someone could find it the way it was just found? People are keeping a whole human being inside room for months the the neighbors won't know, how much more ordinary one bag containing plastic cards. As the INEC official said, the people whose PVCs appear there should be located and confirm from them if they ever received their PVCs from INEC to determine if the ones found are clones or not. Rebelutionary: For me all this is poor work on the part of INEC. Before the ruling on Osun elections, just listening to the submissions from the court, it was obvious it will come to this!
Now instead of INEC to do their work WELL they want to turn nigerians to "vigilantes". Someoe will say it is a small sacrifice to pay! I agree but just like the woeful implementation of a good cash swap policy, Nigerians need to make sacrifices again when it is obviously unnecessary.
Simple question: What is the rational behind cancelling a polling unit when a simple plus and minus will suffice? They create nonsense policy and want us to clean up their mess. Well, I thought my reasoning is skewed, thank God we have other people thinking in that direction. Simple thing to do is to deduct the excess number from the number of votes of whichever party is leading that unit. For example: Total accredited voters 35 votes: PDP 10 APC 10 NNPP 20 LP 10 Total votes 50, that is excess of 15 Just deduct the 15 from NNPP to bring their number of votes to 5 and total votes cast equal 35 which is the number of accredited voters Abi na too much logic dey worry me? FreeStuffsNG: BREAKING: Labour Party senatorial candidate, five others killed in Enugu
22nd February 2023 By Raphael Ede
Unknown gunmen have killed and burnt the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Enugu East Senatorial District, Mr Oyibo Chukwu.
The gunmen also killed five supporters who were with him inside his car.
The PUNCH gathered that the incident happened at Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area on Wednesday evening.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chijioke Edeoga, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said that the gunmen shot him inside his vehicle with five other people with him and set the car ablaze.
“It is true that our senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial district for Saturday’s election has been killed. They (gunmen) shot him and five others and set them ablaze.

JoeNL22: Your assertions are quite wrong, The politicians are playing chess, The masses are playing checkers, everybody knows the reason for the naira redesign, which is to prevent vote buying, hence, we might not like it, but if its necessary to prevent the vote buying, I am all in for it. No sacrifice, no victory. If we can survive 8 years of an abysmal performance from Buhari, why can't we bear 2 weeks?. We Nigerians must do everything and anything in our power to ensure free, fair and credible elections occur in 2 weeks time. The naira redesign is working, hence the governors sudden stand. When there was assu strike, fuel scarcity and unwarranted killings, where were the governors?. We won't be deceived by them, fighting for us the "masses" We are now wiser. Lastly, the foolish governors abuse the court process, how can you just be going to the supreme court just like that without undergoing the process of going from the lower courts then to the apex court?, also the apex court doesn't have the jurisdiction to settle the matter, it's the high court. There's a reason why the state governors did not include the CBN, the SC will strike it out immediately.
Let me show you an expert opinion.
However, a senior lawyer, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, yesterday, said the CBN was free to carry on with the cash swap policy, despite the court ruling. He stated that the CBN, not being a party before the Supreme Court, hence the court was not expected to grant an order against a person not before it; not sued or not heard.
He said, “The CBN is free to carry on with its policy on currency redesign taken in accordance with the plenitude of its powers under both the CBN Act and Currency Control Act. It is fitting to note that just about six weeks ago (on 02/12/22) the SCN held in the case of Adedeji & ors. v CBN that CBN is independent by law and can’t be controlled by FGN.”
You are right, the policy is a welcome one and targeted at some perceived opponents. But thinking the real targets are really affected will mean one doesn't really know what is going on. APC has right before our eyes become the ruling party, the opposition party, creating problem, solving the problem, being the villain and the victim at the same time, scouring for sympathy votes etc. And someone will still think all these is just to prevent somebody from buying votes? The political games going on is beyond what babies can comprehend. At the bold in your statement, the governors knew what they were doing by not involving the CBN because doing that will mean it is now the jurisdiction of high court. But facing the FG directly means it is STRICTLY a supreme court case (because the constitution is clear, any case between the state and federal government can only be ruled on by the supreme court. Prof. Kanyinsola is right, if the FG that the supreme court order goes to does not direct CBN (one of its agencies) to extend the deadline, then, CBN is free to go ahead with its today deadline. Again that is the political juggernaut I'm telling you about, Buhari will be quick to claim being a democrat a obey the court order while Kanu's court order is still there till tomorrow not obeyed. The more you look the less you see. Mark my words The deadline will be extendedWe learn everyday. |

Am I the only one that read the CBN memo on the extension or what? because from the comments I'm seeing so far it's like people are not aware. Let us leave the supreme court ruling aside, the CBN says the old note will cease to be a legal tender (you can't use it to buy goods and services again) after 10th February, BUT YOU CAN STILL DEPOSIT IT INTO YOUR ACCOUNT TILL 17TH FEBRUARY. What this means is that even if Buhari doesn't respect the supreme court ruling you can still safely take your old naira notes to the bank for deposit only (not exchange) till 17th. LocalStandard1: After reading this piece you will be left with two options only. Either you agree more than fifty percent of Nigerians are Igbo or you admit Nigerians no longer care about tribe and Peter Obi is the most popular candidate today.
Let me start like this. No day goes by that I don't read people accusing and alleging someone is Igbo just for having a different view especially criticizing Tinubu, Buhari or the APC (which the Tinubu supporters now are at the forefront).
Some people have started this 2023 elections thinking they will use the same mode of oppression and perceived sentiments of old as other previous elections. "Push for a villain, one the people love to hate. Attack them like theirs no tomorrow!"
I see myself and an uncountable host of others having to clarify "I'm not Igbo!" cause we support a divergent candidate, group or views they think everyone should join and hate.
The thing is, the way I see it no one cares as it is. Well maybe one section of the country still do. But generally using sectionalism or tribal connotations to sway people's opinions is getting stale and old. About 95 percent or so of Nigerians today weren't even born during the civil war, we don't care!
My question is. Now that most people are automatically called Igbo or IPOB cause they support a certain candidate and views is it safe to say:
1. Igbo people are by far the majority in Nigeria? Or....
2. Peter Obi and the Labour Party actually have the most support from common Nigerians?
Pick one.... What if Obi doesn't win on 25th? Does it mean your two options are incorrect and a third option which you chose not to include actually exist? We learn everyday |
