What I see is that people travel blind in Nigeria. Once one or two of their friends move to a particular country, it becomes the new shiny thing to do without any research. UK student visa is the trending thing now and people are running into a carefully set trap.

Someone was shouting this Canada few years ago and I asked him just the name of the capital of the country he intends to move to, he went blank. People will even tell you I prefer Canada to Germany , without having any experience of either.

Canada is a socialist country while US is a capitalist. Canada style of governance wants to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, so when you are doing well in your career and earning more, they increase the Tax in order to stop u from creating gaps between the poor. But the US allows you to be rich the way you desire and be poor as bad as you want. Choose the country that suits you and settle down in.

average height uncle married two wives, tall and Short, children From the tall wife are all tall ( very tall) while children from the short wife are all Short (very short). Now my dad is very tall around 6'2" while my mum is short around 5"5'. All my siblings are all Short, including me, the tallest among 8 children is just 5'7". No one reach my father's height, all of use dey my mum height. One other man from my church that is very short, not even upto 5feet. Wey Marry tall woman. All the children are very tall.

It's not just the father or the mother, it's the entire lineage of both parents, if a man from a short people lineage gets tall, there's a good chance most of his children will be short, it's not about him alone.

My dad is 6f, my mom 5.7f, but in her family they have tall people upto 6.2f, I am the tallest in both immediate and extended family at 6.3f. In my dad's side, his father was as tall as I am, his grandfather as well.

Nobody in my family is short, but there's something, every woman on my dad side is full, like yeah fat, but everyone on my mom side is slim. None of us is thick, not to talk of fat.

Of a truth, its not easy to manage such amount, but when one is already in such situation, you just have to manage and improvise.
Now like the OP of the above thread requested, here is the break down of how we make our expenses.

To start with, I was earning about 130k previously before we got married by March this year, but I changed job and the pay of the new job is 95k. STarted the new job around Feb this year, even though there was a loan I was paying off.. Need I add that my wife was working in a firm where shes paid 45K, but two months after our married, she quit the job due to pregnancy stress. Am sure ladies will understand.

This is our break down.
Monthly salary 95k
I remove 40k first from the salary and transfer it to 3 different acct.
The first acct receives 20k. This acct is not touchable except on extreme emergency. Its our main savings acct.
The second acct gets 10k and its for our rent, also non touchable. Rent is 150k per year. Before u say my rent is high compared to my salary, I like my privacy very well. and the cost of rent isnt friendly in my state.
The third acct also gets 10k. This one is for semi savings. This acct is touchable when cash at hand have been exhausted before the next month salary.

From the remaining 50k,
I send 10k to my family acct. I and my brothers do contribute 10k+ every month and its been used to run expenses WRT our parents and last born.
I gv my wife 10k for her monthly up keep. Its small. But its the sacrifice we all have to make for the good of the family.
I hold 10k myself for logistics and transport. I must confess, is not enough. But One have to strive. My wrk place isnt far. SO transport is N100 to and fro, thats approximately 3k per month. The remaining money i use it for other logistics. 4k out of this money goes for gas wch last for abt 2 weeks. And when we want to refill and there is no other money left, we fall back to the 3rd acct.
The remaining 20k is strictly for food ( On this food issue is where I "duff my hart" cos shes really managing things well and trying.
Sometimes, I really feel for her, cos this her pregnancy makes her to crave for things that is not on our food menu, but then when the money is not there, she just surpress the cravings. At times I feel bad.

The remaining 5k, for now is used to pay back a tailor who sewed multiple pregnancy gowns for my wife.

Its good to add that any small money I make like 1k or 2k on side hustle, I directly buy mudu of rice, beans or flour for swallow.

Its not easy at all. But there are families with kids leaving below that.

My wife is abt 5mnths pregnant, we plan to divert the 20k savings to buying baby things in preparation for child birth.


The truth is that the economic situation in this country is bad and so cost of leaving is very high. But then one have to survive.
But then in Nigeria now, how many percentage of the population earn above 100k. In fact how many jobs out there pays such as amount.

The only advice I have for ladies is that if you are not working and you parent family is the type need financial help from your husband after marriage, or you are the type of lady that is high class and wont settle for less or manage with your man. Plz kindly wait and take your time to look for a man that is RICH or financially capable of taken care of you and maybe your family. Please dont hide under the cover of you want to marry quick and then accept a struggling man only to start putting pressure on his head. Plz wait and marry a rich man.

Most responsible men wont really appreciate it if you are always demanding for things you knw fully well that he can not afford.


It is also good to note that no condition is permanent, things will definitely get better. A better job might come or my wife might get a job after her maternity which will increase our income.

The bottom line is, as a couple, but of you will have to work things out to improve your finances.

Do you live in Lagos? If no, then like we agreed, location is very important.

20k for food , come on this answer the question, you are not in Lagos.

There's no transport from anywhere to anywhere in Lagos that is less than 200 naira.

In the village anything is possible, in Lagos, just close the window on this kind of discussion.

In my opinion, the cumulative monthly earnings of a man shouldn't be less than 200k, salary and all, 100k in the village is not bad but in Lagos, even a single guy won't survive.

A man has a lot of responsibility, and marriages doesn't reduce it like many will have you believe, as a matter of facts it will increase it, a single guy that can't send his Mom 20k monthly, when is he going to start, after marriage, sometimes marriage brings new opportunities but not always, a man hoping marriage will change his finances is doomed to fail.

I had my NYSC in a village and in that village there was no light, no transport system, no running tap water...

but yet I had a fantastic time...I ate well (regular pounded yam, with veg, fish and kanda), with palmwine.....I used a bicycle for moving around the village...I hardly spent half of my NYSC allowance.....and it was fun, simple and joyous.

How much you actually need is not based on you needs per say...it has a lot to do with your wants....

If your wants in life are small, your financial needs will be small....if your wants are big, your financial needs will be big.....Its a relativity issue

You forget everyone did NYSC and mostly in the village, if you are lucky and in the south villages you get almost everything for free, yam vegetables, even fish.

In Lagos, clean water is now very costly because of diesel, if you fill your 2,000 litres, that is about 15,000 now, yeah and that water is not enough for two months.

When I did NYSC it was 18,500 or so, though I get food stuff from home, that money can't do much, those that try to manage to save end up in the hospital, some had to call home to pay hospital bills, being a man means being able to survive, managing at the expense of your health will lead to greater damage.

Concerning Hospitals, I guess the prayer is to be in good health cause at times,not eating well or eating right might not be the cause for an illness.
The major prayer is to have the fees to pay the bills when needed.
You can't tell me because you earn 100k and want to eat well,you now spend 70k on just feeding as a single man.
For me
Either my income is way above it or I'm not even checking the price.
But this is the point, for a fixed salary like this,it is only sensible to guage your spendings and adjust to your income size.

The problem i have is someone wanting to leave a certain life style based on someone else's sweat without being personally able to attain such by themselves....

This is not big man life, there's no cenima, no birthdays, no party, no donations, no club membership, do you know what big spend money on, birthday alone is about 10 million, every Saturday is cenima, cost 100k weekly, party and donations in church is another 200k month.

When you start to cook at home you will understand, stop eating junk, that is why people spend so much money on hospital and drugs, eat healthy.

House rent 350,000(this is the lowest for a room and parlor in Lagos)
Fuel for car - 20,000 monthly - 240,000
Fuel for generator (God help you if you want to use diesel) 10,000 monthly - 120,000

This alone is over 500,000 extra without, clothes, household items, gadgets, electricity, water, other stuff like waste management payment, outings, birthdays, church donation.

The verse you quoted mentioned something else.

He said whoever shall put away, not divorce! There's a distinction.

There was no time Jesus said Divorce, even in Matthew 5:32 he said put away!

From the pastor explanation, he is right. And if you read Deuteronomy 22: 13- 30, it talked about putting away as opposed to divorce.

Divorce was strictly mentioned in Deuteronomy 24:1-3

For loss of what to eat, I decided to make this sumptuous meal.
This meal is rich and packed with lots of nutrients for both adults and kids.

You and your kids can have fun with this creative meal and enjoy it as breakfast or dinner with some hot chocolate. Very filling. Easy to package for your Little kids to school for breakfast.


Ingredients
Slice bread. ( I used nine slices)
Ground Pepper
Spring onions
Milk two TBS of powder milk.
Eggs three large eggs
Vegetable Oil for greasing the pan. You can use butter but I don't like the outcome of this with butter. So I use oil..

Cut out the inner part of the bread so you have only the ring left as shown in pics. ( Make una manage the jagajaga picture). Set aside

Combine the egg and other ingredients together. Add little salt.

Grease the pan with little oil. On a very low heat
Put the bread ring in the greased pan and add two spoons of egg mixture or as much as it can take inside the ring.
Allow to dry a bit.

When it's slightly dry, cover the top with the cut out piece. Press down gently to lock in the egg mix. And allow to dry.

You know you are a woman right, you were supposed to make the bread and then make a meal from it.

Yes they can, as a matter of fact, you have to give 14 days notice by law, some companies 4 weeks, after a formal handover.

Employment contract is very binding, but in Nigeria we don't read it, we don't care about it, once we are employed we are off to church giving testimony, trust me, some employment contract are so convoluted that you require a lawyer to understand.

Speak to a lawyer, intellectual property rights sometimes can destroy someone, especially when there's a NDA attached.
