awodman: Don't Mind them bro...The world is taking note..
Its not by chance that GEJ became the 1st Nigerian leader to ring the closing bell at NYSE...
Its not by chance that GEJ is the 4th world to address UN general assembly this year
Its not by chance that the whole Africa is supporting Nigeria as Non-permanent member of the UN security council barely 2 years after we left that position

Soon ordinary Nigerians will begin to feel this positives..Who God has blessed no man can stop
In the 50 years since Independence in 1960 to 2010, All d former Presidents/HeadsofState cud only get Nigeria elected to the UN Security Council 3 times; WHILST, GEJ in just over 3 years has gotten Nigeria to that August Council 2 times. And Unanimously too, both from ECOWAS and d AU and the World....

payless: Did you know for how long Jonathan Administration lobbied Hillary Clinton's State Department in order to get Jonathan to meet Obama in Washington? Jonathan was finally given an audience in New York due to U.N Assembly meeting and you think we should celebrate it. By the way, who told you Obama is meeting other world leaders at Waldorf? You are more clueless and stup1d than I thought. I don't blame you because there is no cable or electricity in Nigeria to actually know what is going on in the news. Stupid id1ot like you won't know what is disrespectful when it hits you in the face. Would Obama meet Camron or Netenyahu at Waldorf Hotel to discuss something important? You have tendency to be emotionally disturbed frequently on this forum anytime your master is talked about. I wanted to ask ask: where did you derive your username from? Are you an al-qaeda agent. Your username sounds like one.

software man: of all the NIPP(now niger delta holding company) plants only sapele and olorunsogo stands a good chance of being commisioned before 2015(there is no guarantee that it will even be available to the national grid) Most of the others are at mostly 20% completion stage.

The truth is that even if olorunsogo(750MW) and sapele (450mv) come on stream , there is no transmission capacity to handle it as most transmission expansion projects are still at mostly 20% completion
.

The truth is that they themselves know that the promise of 10,000mw is a fraud, they only make these promises because they know no one believe them any longer. The people that cannot sustain generation of 3600MV from installed capacity without constantly experiencing system failure anytime they get close to 3500MW are promising 10,000 when the system does not even have the transmission capacity for 5000MW.

secondly,What other substantiation do you need that cronyism trailed the entire award when rockson engineering(odili and arik) was awarded more than 65% of the expected capacity and has only built less than 20% of their own expected capacity eight years into the project. Why was the project not awarded directly to reputable international power companies like mitsubishi and siemens.

Jonathan is either being deceived or he is deceiving the people. if he is so sure he can deliver 10,000 or even less to the national grid by 2015, let him stake his 2015 ambition on it. of course he will not.
Hehehehehe..... That is d only tin I can do afta reading this, so boldly asserted in public: laugh.. Hehehehe

obailala: I can't agree with you more that half truths could be very dangerous but when we unfortunately live in a society where no truth exists, you will be left with no choice but to accept the half truths and then make what you can of it with your own wisdom.

The fact remains that if Sahara Reporters did not raise this issue, no single media organisation in Nigeria would have been bold enough to mention it and consequently, Nigerians would have been oblivious of this profligacy.

Yes we know SR could sometimes blow issues out of proportion so when I read their stories, I use my wisdom to moderate some of their figures. For instance, GEJ may not have taken a 600-man delegation but based on the SR story and the shallow defence of Mr Abati, I can bet you that delegation will not be less than 200.

...And just to clarify something, a critic of the government reserves the right to be either constructive or destructive. All that matters is that the criticism knocks the government to order.
Just hear yrself: so Destructive criticism 'knocks the Govt to order'?... Too many DONKEYs around *smh*

take dat: *What of the proof that the President is staying at the Pierre Hotel? Abati did not refute this claim in his rejoinder.

*What of the proof that the President is lodged in a suit that costs $10,000 per night? Abati kept mum on this as well.

You claim the onus is on SR to provide proof? Did Abati and co not debunk SR proof on Patience Jonathan's health saga? Did Abati not promise to release the list of those who traveled to Ethiopia and has not done that till date? If SR publishes the list, some will still claim its fictitious, crying bucket full of tears and hovering on top of GEJ's excrement mound simply because they believe the 'Presidency can do no wrong'.

BTW, a serious government would have released the names of those who traveled along side the President. Abi no be government dey mouth platitude about openness and transparency?
Oh! Please. Stop writing plenty meaningless words; not interested. He who accuses shld provide 'proof' for d accusation, never d other way round. SIMPLE..... I bliv d reason Abati didn't say anytin about d Hotel tin is cos it's just too Ridiculous. Where do you expect d President to stay? Where are other Presidents staying? MightyT: On the criticism that his administration was not doing enough to tackle corruption, Jonathan said he would rather deal with facts and numbers instead of speculation.
He pointed to the agriculture sector where N25 billion was being spent on subsidising fertilizer by past regimes which barely reached farmers, adding, however, that the trend had been reversed under his administration.

“N25 billion was being spent in the past to make cheap fertilizer available which hardly reached the end users. But today, we cut the amount to N5 billion to N6 billion per annum and 80 per cent of farmers have access to fertilizer to improve their yields. Yet they say I am not doing enough to curb corruption,” Jonathan said.

In the area of the power sector, he added that his administration had implemented the most transparent privatisation programme that was above board, adding, “No one gave us a chance. But for the first time, the federal government has implemented the most transparent privatisation programme, which was above board.

“The winners have emerged and will be taking over the distribution and generation companies in the next few weeks.

“With the handover of the power sector to the private sector, we will begin to witness improvement in electricity generation and intend to hit 10,000 megawatts of electricity generation by next year.

“Through the privatisation programme, we realised close to $3 billion which again is the highest ever realised from the sale of government companies.

“This is unlike what obtained in the past when the process was corrupted by those who were responsible for it. Yet the same people have the temerity to say I am corrupt when they could not run a clean process.”
The president also spoke on the petroleum downstream sector in which he said his administration tried to remove subsidies, but could not do so because Nigerians opposed the scheme.

“If this government was corrupt, I would not have asked that subsidies on petrol should be removed. I could have left it as it was in the past where we had all manner of marketers defrauding the government of billions of naira.

“But when I tried to remove the subsidy on petrol, we were forced to reduce it because we had to consider the demands of the Nigerian people who did not want the subsidy removed,” he said.
Very well said, Mr President......
