The folly of a failed government filled with demagogues! When Sahara Reporters was up against the governments of OBJ and Yaradua, none of these light finger pilferers and flunkies saw them as opposition sponsored. Yeye dey Smell |
Why is this news? Like say the present C in C fit do anything to am. |
We have a failed ruling class which has demonstrated its competence, only in treasury looting, mismanagement and burgeoning debt. |
. |
Gbawe: 100% correct. suffice to say I am enjoying watching an implosion play out ala 'a house divided against itself'. Let us hope the opposition Parties get their act together, merge and show Nigerians their togetherness. The best strategy is for a merger to happen sooner rather than latter. It will be a big advantage if Nigerians see a united and consistent grassroot mobilisation from the mega Party while they see a "the nest of killers" bogged down in rancour, acrimony and do-or-die internal battles.I really do not know why people are so much fixated on the internal wrangling of a party that has led us to this dysfunctional state with its do or die affair coupled with their colossal mismanagement of public funds for 13 years. This is about time for all to mobilise and get politically involved in a bid to wrestle power from these failed ruling class and looting elite, but instead we are playing into the hands of the same set of circled and recycled politicians, manipulators and pilferers. The sad commentary on a confused Nation! |
tawa89: he didn't say yorubas are the d single largest ethnic group rather he said they are d single largest ethnic grp that can give u bloc votes cos they have no interest 2015 election cos OBJ just left ASO ROCKWho says the yorubas cannot vie for the presidency simply because OBJ had spent 8years in office? Is rotational presidency enshrined in the constitution? Please I'll like to know the single largest "ethnic" group in Nigeria! |
Wetin concern me with the killer party ![]() |
Well done to the governor, he could have diverted the fund to the state coffers at a time most governors and local government chairmen are yet to give an account how the fund is been utilised! |
aribisala0: People should take note of the contribution of the port. This is MORE than oil from any state. So all those JOKERS saying LAGOS was built with oil money should take note.Lagos ports contribute MORE than any oil producing stateCORRECT!!! |
Nigerians are no longer buying the blame game and buck passing of government's failure to those outside government. Abati, who happens to be an ardent critic of previous government before joining the looting class ought to know that Nigerians are quick to recognise an uninspiring leader who is immersed in corruption, with a cabinet filled with treasury looters; held captive by fraudsters and scared of terrorism sponsors; and whose desire is not in tandem with the interest of his followers! |
Excellent piece! |
The PDP just like ACN and CPC are promoters of ethno-regional and ethno-religious differences only that they (PDP)ensure ethno-regional and ethno-religious unity in looting. As far as I am concerned, we would never have a "true" national leader if these differences/interests are not jettisoned. Why does the writer feel the Yorubas will most likely not rule for the next 20years and they should relegate their aspirations simply because OBJ had ruled for 8years, only to claim at the end that they(yorubas) are the single largest ethnic group in Nigeria as such they should be courted by other "power hungry regions" in a country where there is lack of trust, fear of domination and marginalisation? Rotational Presidency and other forms of power sharing arrangement are elite manipulation promoted by an irresponsible mass media! |
Maxymilliano: Good that we can establish this. I've stayed in Lagos and Sango Ota in Ogun State for most part of my life, and I have business interest across both State. No where in my earlier post did I class all of Fashola's critics as PDP lickspittle. I did acknowledge that some posters were only seeking transparency and good governance. The Pro ACN folks in the house are in a better position to educate you on his achievements if you are yet to see any. I do agree with you that he has invested more in favour of the elites but not all of his policies don't have human face, mostly I am in support of his Okada ban. A leader has to be strong willed and decisive when ruling a state like Lagos where impunity is the order. I'll be back to engage you more. Thanks! |
Maxymilliano: Are you staying in Lagos ? I'll follow this thread because of you.No, but av got my family there so I frequent Lagos often! |
The first is those who demand critical appraisal of his government. These set of NLders only seek transparency, accountability and good governance though few among the posters. His other critics are the "settlers" from a particular region who are mostly embittered over Fashola's utterances on either the need to vacate Lagos or the "deportation" of their tribes men and the attitude of some NLders from the SW in promoting tribal jingoism. The third is those who only seek to score political points. Ever since some NLders started clamouring for a Fashola presidency, the PDP "brown nosers" in the house have taking it upon themselves to smear him with un verifiable facts and ludicrous allegations! |
There is nothing wrong with politicians mobilising, forming alliances and making consultations in an attempt to achieve a defined goal. Nigeria happens to be a country where politicians exploit our ethno-regional and ethno-religious dichotomy, GEJ himself rose to power based on these identities! As long as power remains concentrated at the centre, the fear of domination and marginalisation will always be there. GEJ's perceived ineptitude and his trajectory move from being shoeless to clueless and most likely "sureless" will give room for more of these consultations and alliances! |
When election time comes just vote for your preferred party, either the biggest looting and killer party in Africa or a one man controlled regional party. The choice is yours! |
For 13 years that the PDP at federal level and other states had been presenting the budget in the first quarter of a new year, none of these apple-polishers saw it as unconstitutional. Are they just being aware of that constitutional provision? Surely, hypocrisy runs in their blood. Even the president who presented this year's budget right on time is yet to assent to it after the expeditious passage by the NA. Notwithstanding the governor should hurriedly present the budget and stop flouting the law! |
^ its human nature to have idio.ts amongst the lot. If PremiumTimes claims to have sourced its information from a named senior manager of TCN and it was all lies, the right thing for a serious minded government to do is to dispel such information and set the records straight. Isn't that why GEJ keeps a host of media aides and there is also the public affairs division in PHCN to do just that! |
I see nothing wrong with the "bolded". The funds if judiciously used will go a long way in providing basic infrastructures for the host communities and it will stem militancy, illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalisation in those communities as the elders will be held accountable and responsible for any atrocities committed in those areas and the elders will become more vigilant. This is the closest to resource control they can get from government! |
GEJ's chorus boys in action. An allegation which government and PHCN officials have not come out to disprove, only for some harebrained, trash talking tools on NL to claim its all lies! |
Yet another silly thread. @Op, keep basking in delusion. This is an unrealistic dream! |
. |
PDP is the burden of this Nation. Always in the news for the wrong reasons, if it isn't plundering public funds, it will be their involvement in acts of terrorism and political assassination. The brazen admittance of the abysmal performance of the president by these aggrieved party youths speaks volume of the irresponsible and ineptitude government GEJ runs. |
. Okay we don hear you President Honest Jonah! Yeye dey Smell. |
PDP is a party that thrives on ethnoreligious dichotomy while ensuring ethnoreligious unity in looting!Whoever believes that PDP represent his or her dreams and aspiration is a learner. PDP is the burden of a nation filled with rising insecurity, colossal mismanagement of public fund and crime wave fuelled by poverty! |
I appreciate the Op's optimism, Nigeria has the potential do better than most of the projects on display all we need is strategic thinking and good leadership. |
mankevo: I am an Igbo, but those Ohanzuzu folks has become greatest disappointment to their immediate family not entire Igbos. Bunch of cowards always finding a soft landing by negotiating with Any Govt in Power (AGIP) They are not affected by globalization, always repeating the same old mistakes and hoping for manna of Presidency to fall on their table. |
A farmer who is able to pay 50% of the cost of farm input should be able to afford a mobile phone himself. How are we so sure the mobile phones will be distributed to those it was intended for? How will the uneducated farmer be able to comprehend the process of using a mobile phone to check weather and access other GES information? How will government be able to detect cases like "multiple roll out"? How will the farmers in remote villages cope with the epileptic network problems, insufficient recharge cards and poor power supply to charge those phones or will government be providing masts for correct signal to the village, recharge cards and all? There is also the problem of logistics. I do not feel that most local farmers are ripe for this e-wallet, except it will be done together with paper vouchers. Government should distribute free fertilisers and high yield seedlings to the farmers instead of this wasteful idea of distributing free mobile phones! |
jchime: Berem, do you believe punch when they say that sullivan is not yet back.the Governor is back, hale and hearty. However,he jetted out of the country earlier on 31st to honour an invitation extended to him by ENUGU indigenes in diaspora as they celebrate their 50th town hall meeting Anniversary. You are bent on feeding everyone your unsubstantiated lies. If Chime was in the country as you once stated in a similar thread, why didn't he announce his arrival for all to know? It is preposterous that a governor who has been declared "AWOL" for more than three months will jet into the country and leave within the shortest time for an inexcusable reason of attending a town hall meeting outside the shores of the country without most people in the state knowing. |
taharqa: If the @OP would be so kind as to allow me repost parts of what he itemized recently as some of the 'small' other things that the FG have done with its share of the SURE-P Fund, since he did it so succinctly there would be no need to rehearse it all over again:Almost all the projects you listed were appropriated for in the 2012 budget and the Sure-P was to complement them but what we are witnessing is that the performance of most MDA's handling the projects are nothing to write home about based on the NA submission. If ministry of works For example had N80billion as appropriated and it has spent less than N50billion on its projects, it becomes difficult to ascertain if the Sure-P funds were truly injected. That is why the NA sees the Sure-P as duplication and a ruse! There is no law mandating state governments to open a special account for the Sure-P fund, it was an advise from the FG and states are not bound to follow such advice! If Lagos state receives N300million monthly as its share of the savings, it will amount to N3.6billion a year. It is quite absurd that Lagos who is the highest consumer of the subsidised product will receive lesser than some states. On what the Lagos state government does with its share is simply for the government to state and the FOI is there for those willing to test it but my submission is that the amount is so meagre for any meaningful impact to be felt by Lagosians! if Lagos decides to create a Sure-P commission/body, the amount that will be expended on running its "secretariat" alone would gulp most of the fund. |
alj harem: SMH SMH SMHYou evaded all the questions I asked simply because you are hell bent on championing a PDP agenda. The PDP government controls EFCC, ICPC and the anti fraud unit of the Nigerian Police so your excuse of the judiciary being an independent body is not tenable. You outrightly condemned a Mimiko who recently earned the people's mandate to go for a second term as a "disappointment" while you have nothing whatsoever to say of a lacklustre PDP. I'll pay no mind to you henceforth cos you've been unable to give reasons why its only the PDP that can ameliorate the suffering of Lagosians which they've been unable to do at the federal level |
