Satan66:The guy could have changed his Facebook or Twitter settings. Anything is possible on the web |
I had the feeling the Facebook profile was fake Anyone can take anyone's photo, make a new Facebook profile and then post lies. Our scammers have been doing it for years. The sad thing is that whoever was behind it won't be known. The damage has been done. Nigerians need to learn politics without bitterness. |
Enemyofpeace:Yes, and in other news...the number of actual voters in the South was in many places less than the number of registered voters. IF every Southerner who had been registered had come out and vote...by now we would have been at least talking of runoff election. What annoys me about the South is that we like to source for likes on the internet...while the real voters are out there... |
Zombiekiller010: ![]() Many of the biggest looters since democracy came back have been Southern governors and Southern poltical leaders. So, even if we split the country, those people will take over and continue the looting. By the way, how can the South impose its political will on the country when in Ebonyi state, out of 1.2million voters, only 400000 turned up to be accreidtied on the day? You don't want development, like your Northern brethren, you want to chop money. You are angry because your masters who distribute the crumbs did not win. The APC guys are happy because their source of crumbs is stable for the enxt 4 years. Neither of you people want Nigeria to be developed...because you would have to work, and work is foreign to you. Now, stop insulting those Hausa people, and start recruiting the opposition from among them....so that you can come back and chase out APC in 2023. That is the way democracy works. You go and convince your enemies. |
The reason why they are resigning is simple. Politics in Nigeria is a desperate game. Because the perks are so so attractive (as a house of reps member you can, with careful husbandry, become a multimillionaire in 4 years of office)...people are ready to do do or die. One notorious politician of the second republic even surrounded the then FEDECO office with ARMED thugs to ensure he got the right count.(naturally he did). So,even if INEC does the right thing....what stops a politician from sending in thugs. Add a corrupt police, and even if the police was not corrupt....they cannot be everywhere...and even if they were everywhere....one or two police vs a group of armed thugs ? Then people can sell their vote for nothing. Nigeria is that kind of country. We need a changed people before we can have free and fair elections. Neither APC nor PDP can guarantee that. And the way I see APC nairalanders justifying some of the irregularities.....and the fact that I know PDP nairalanders are opposing because e no favour them.... |
caye:I did not insult you, yet you chose to insult me. You could have made your point without calling me a demon. Good morning. |
VaselineCrew:OK...3billion....which is a waste But 3000MW does not solve our power deficit. South Africa has light 24/7....for 46million people...and they generate 40000mw. 3000mw just gets us up to 8000-10000mw. Lagos, according to the APC candidate for governor, needs 15000MW alone. We need more money than that (and no, it can't come from our reserves. ) So, either higher bills, or we take loans, or we stop complaining and accept the status quo. Yes,most Nigerians are poor. But if we keep on using that poverty excuse...we will never get anywhere. |
StaffofOrayan:So, we take loans....and we don't complain about it. That's the only realistic solution. Agreed APC has failed...PDP has failed....but there is a reason why we privatised power...because of the reality that government could no longer fund power adequately. So, either we pay higher for pwer...or we take loans...or we accept the status quo and stop complaining. We cannot get something of $2million for $20. |
smeag0l:Yes, that is the harsh truth. The reality is the power sector needs money. And that money can't come from the air. |
StaffofOrayan:Yes, we spent 40million on oil search.I agree, that is a waste. But that 40million won't be enough to get us up to 24/7 light.. We need to increase generation to at least 50000MW , and also replace our poor and outdated transmission system. 40m USD won't do it. |
Printerscanner:PDP got us up from 1200mw in 2001 to 4000MW by 2015. |
StaffofOrayan:So where do we get the money to make improvements? Ghana pays higher than we do, and they are just as much a developing country as we are. And at the moment, oil prices are too low for us to make a decent living. And then there is corruption. Shebi we should take loans? That means much higher bills anyway down the road.? Let us be realistic. |
Gforce2019:Forget PDP, even APC. The reality is that we need to face facts and realise that the problem needs trillions of naira to fix. Not billions. |
Naija4love:I tire. Please keep on reporting. Until them scammers receive sense. |
We need to increase generation and improve transmission. And that cannot be done on bills less than 4000 on meter, 10000-20000 estimated. Let's be honest, the laws governing the establishment of the DISCOS force them to charge below the production price of power...meaning they cannot pay the GENCOS adequately and the GENCOS cannot pay enough for gas. And in my opinion, we need a sum far higher than our national budget to get to 24/7 electricity. Somewhere between $300-900bn. (Our reserve is $40bn.) Fashola said 5 years ago that 24/7 power was not rocket science. The man should by now see how severe the problem is. So either power bills go up ,or we take a loan, a hefty loan. Ghana has 24/7 light...because their power bills are higher than ours. Time we faced the reality. |
What INEC should do is simple. 1.Adequately budget and start fighting for budget for the next elections from yesterday 2.Training, training and retraining. 3.We need electronic voting....sadly this requires National Assembly approval. 4.Be more aggressive. As for violence...that is beyond INEC's control. The shameful events in Lagos, Rivers etc won't have happened if the Police had been on their feet. |
1.Remove fuel subsidy and allow for total deregulation of the downstream sector. 2.Totally deregulate the power sector too. 3.Allow universities to raise and charge the fees they want to...while all education funding is directed to primary and secondary schools. 4.Ranches for cows...in the far North. |
Man has had a stroke, yet he wants to run. Okay. |
Smooth Operator. Smooth Operator. |
Aisha be like... 'Chai...have we won? So that I can enjoy for another four years?-- Anyway....too bad Nigerians seem to prefer APC and PDP....when there were far more decent candidates. And it's goodnight from me. Am out. |
Good morning Nigeria Congrats to all them APC winners. Your guy has won. Good for thee. But.... APC still does not have the ideas needed to get Nigeria moving forward. 1.APC won't remove subsidy. Subsidy removal, copuled with privatisation of NNPC in an open and transparent manner , should be enough to save Nigeria trillions and will promote more investment in our oil sector, including the building of new refineries by the private sector and an end to fuel scarcity. 2.APC won't improve power. Not when they refuse to be bold enough to allow DISCOS to charge what they want for power...but use the broken law governing the DISCOS to force the DIScos to sell at a cost below the actual cost of production. And then APC won;t take more loans for power. 3.APC has no vision for education. Funding is bad because we establish too many universites, too many primary and secondary schools and there is no means of funding them adequately unless we raise fees. In the next few years we must either raise fees, take more loans, or keep on having half baked schools priducing half baked graduates. APC , the choice is yours. 4.APC too has to do more for Nigerian Christians. I agree that our Christians too have been bigoted , BUT.....Leah is still in captivity. Christians still face discrimination in some states of this country. And while I don't subscribe to this whole appointment thing....especially as federal character forces job allocaitons to be diverse....we need to appoint more qualified christians into prominent positions...NOT because they are better than Muslims...but because sadly we are a ethnoreligious society...and fears must be assauged. 5.The Fulani-farmer crisis. THis government has been seen as being favourable to one side. Now it isnt necessarily true....but until arrests are made, and people are jailed, bias is going to be percieved...despite any evidence to the contrary. Governemnt must urgently deal with the Boko crisis...which is driving many Fulanis down south and bringing them into conflict with farming communities, and must as a matter of urgency institute reforms needed. And please, drop the ranching business....especially in many states. As a side note to our FUlani brothers and sisters...we appreciate you. You bring us milk and meat that keeps us going. But to be honest, the era of roaming around with cows has come to an end.You guys need to modernise. Our populaiton is 200million and growing. In 1940...we were less than 40million. The amount of land remains fixed. 6.APC needs to look into some form of restructuring. And resource control. The ND has suffered. Time they got a better deal from the center. Well, me I know that while I am happy PDP is not in power...having never supported them since they came out in 1998...I must be honest and say that APC is not the solution. We had better candidates than the two main ones. The North has better candidates than Bubu and Atiku...but because of laziness and our preference for the arm chair....we don;t get out and show face. And the mass of Nigerians can only vote for people they see...and Atiku and Buhari have always been in the public eye from day one. We the educated peiople should come down from our ivory tower and be the alternative. All that is left for me now is to be fair and wish this government well. And to all its opponents....please for god's sake drop the bigotry. Drop the bitterness. We lost. It is time we moved on and got united for the next election. Otherwise...you lose again in four years. |
hisgrace090:Most of them won't resign....those bodyguards get heavily paid...plus their families are benefiting as well. |
Dami12345:Yo. I am approaching this from the perspective of someone who has, in his day job, seen both sides of the fence...raped women and in a few cases women who cry rape.(Medical field) Girls get raped. Some get forced into doing this. Now I have been around longer than you have...and I grew up in a university environment. Stuff like this has happened before. Young girl gets invited to a party, drink gets spiked...and before she knows what is happening the deed has been done. And the effects last a lifetime. I don't know your story. But I can guess you were either falsely accused, or you were turned down by some babe who hooked up with a richer guy. And your heart got crushed...and now every girl who gets raped is a liar in your eyes. Guy...someday you are going to get married. And have kids. They may be girls. Do you want your kids growing up with a dad who hates them because of their gender? If your daughter was raped...would you call her a liar? You should leave that bitterness behind. We all get rejected. Some of us move on. You haven't. Don't be another Eliot Rodgers. |
PresidentBuhari:Mr PDP supporter...you lost the election because instead of wooing the Northerners, you looked down on them and mocked them. Next time, if you want to win elections, try not to be a bigot. And grow up. This joke is stale. |
Levant:Bros, that is obviously a fake result. Any result that does not come from INEC is fake. Plus, international observers do not have their people in EVERY polling unit..they can only monitor some units. Better take that fake result down. Nigeria already has too many trobules….the last thing we need is more fake news inspired trouble. |
Mzee1Kahuna:No problem I think it is high time Southerners started coming out enmasse to vote. If they had, perhaps we could be talking of a runoff. But most of us stay at home, on the allegation that 'They will rig the election' Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Northerner go and spend hours queueing under very hot sun in some dry and dusty village in their numbers so that they can vote. As for all them like and share people....just know that there are less than 3 million registered accounts on Nairaland. Nigeria has 200million people. Any online poll here is for jokers. Modified Of the three million accounts on Nairaland, probably less than 10000 are active on the Politics section. Many more members spend time in other sections, and may never touch politics. |
Miss Z is a brave woman But what pains me about the case is the way and manner the parents and families of the accused were busy offering money to the girl's family to make the case go away. The sad thing is also that the accused are all Christians. This shows that Christianity has a serious problem in Nigeria. All the preaching and singing and sermons in all the churches is not making any impact. As a result, many so called Christians get into sin. No wonder God is not hearing us. High time we repented. |
otiwisdom:Yes and in other news....Ebonyi had 1.5million voters, yet 400000 bothered to turn up to vote. Shey Buhari appeared in their dream and told them not to vote? |
Bungalow:America does a mixture of several systems, electronic included |
Nothing will happen to Wike Last I checked, this is Nigeria. Nigerians love their corruption.. |
