etrouble:Man proposes, God disposes |
OK...kicking off on Youtube. Hopefully, it grows from there. |
Ishilove:I first heard about Big Brother back in the late 1990's...when the thing was the rage in European countries. To be honest, I did not get the concept of the show. It sounded like a big waste of time. Not even the 'you will win millions' carrot attracted me. Then in 2002...Big Brother Africa came around. That was the one where we had reps from all over Africa, with one Naija guy called Bayo. Was in university then. My mates were all excited about the show...me I was like 'What'? And honestly, I am not moved till today. As for why there are crowds. Last time, Efe won 25million naira. Just like that. No need to hustle, etc. Yes, everyone says God blesses legit hustle, but it costs a lot of suffering to get there.(and sometimes, it takes years before someone earns a decent salary after graduatiion). Who no want good thing. And those who did not win are all on Instagram, etc...posing with cool pictures, etc.... Even if government gives everyone jobs....people will still be there. The problem is easy money. Easy money. |
millionboi2:Good evening, and may God richly and truly bless you beyond your wildest dreams. |
ChiefAzubuike:We are light years behind because Nigerians don't want to pay the taxes needed to build a very good forensic capacity. Many Nigerians too don't pay their light bills. So, we have difficulty funding power supply, which you need to preserve frensic materials, and run that PCR machine for DNA analysis. In this election, we have a choice between two bad parties. A governor was caught taking bribes. No one in his state is rioting. The two main parties have all sorts of corruption cases on their head....and no one is doing nothing. Our universites are badly funded. We pay less than $200 in fees and expect $20000 in facilites. You cannot get well trained professionals from just $200 per annum per student. And by the way, in this country, people commit crimes, and their relatives , friends , tribesmen even prevent them from being punished for their crimes. Someone comitts a violent crime,we go and beg the family of the victim, and nothing is done. Or we go and hide him from being prosecuted. There is something wrong with governance in Nigeria....and it is because there is something wrong with the people. And the sad thing is Nigerians are not ready to face their sins. |
Intelligent person |
Joemetry:And when we tell you to vote Sowore or Hashim or Moghalu, you guys will tell us that they can not win, before telling us to Sai Buhari or Obediently Atikulate |
ClearFlair:The problem was there before PDP. Back in the 1990s, the club I used to support got banished to another town because of violent fans |
The way forward is that clubs get properly managed so that at the end of the day, in case of relegation, zero financial worries. I don't know if they also still banish clubs whose fans commit violence. Dock at least 6 points for violent episodes towards opposing clubs, official and TV crew too. |
The thing is the win at all costs mentality driven by the fact that getting relegated can be very financially tasking for the average Nigerian club side. Clubs don't want to lose home matches. Drives away fans. Better to get victory via intimidation We have a long way to go. And this has effects on competitiveness |
Passionate888:Depends on whether the fertilised eggs are XX or XY. |
byinks:Well they could have...but it won't necessarily have saved her life. |
Passionate888:Well, assuming they all came from one egg splitting into five, and the fertilised egg was XX (XX means two X genes means girls)..I'll say the possibility is 100% |
Passionate888:Possibly 1.One fertilised egg split into five (it happens) 2.Three fertilised eggs, with one splitting into two. 3.Three fertilsed eggs, with twoof them splitting into two. 4.IVF Do you need to know more? |
frankleesehi:Possible casues 1.Amninotic embolisim....happens in high risk pregnancies. Especially one that was UNBOOKED.Nothing can be done once it happens. (Saw a case when I was a student. Never again!) 2.Pulmonary embolism. can ALSO happen in a high risk pregnancy. In other words....PLEASE IF YOU ARE A PREGNANT FEMALE...or Male....GO FOR ANTENATAL CARE as SOON AS YOU GET PREGNANT. ANC SAVES LIVES! |
Hmmm Eventually, we are going to do two things in this country...and by extension the whole of Africa because there are countries with two or three tribes that like ehrding cattle (Infact part of South Sudan's problems are due to cattle related problems) 1.Massive grazing ranches...to be run as cooperatives, set up in the far North...with the aim of supplying an agro allied industry and dairy industry. Each and every of these ranches would be linked to the railway network for easy transport of export related products. 2.Additonally, we have to fix the railways. The era of roaming around with cow is at an end.Our populaiton is now 200million. Back in 1963 we were 55 million, and our railways were already trasporting cow realted products to the South. Too bad mismanagement in the 1970's led to the problems we have today. |
I know it is popular to blame Obasanjo for handing over Bakassi...but the facts are 1.When we agreed to go to the ICJ in 1994....when Abacha was in charge...and when the alternative was war with France....we agreed to abide to its ruling on the matter. 2.The ICJ ruled against us.And we really did not have much of a case to begin with. 3.By the time of the ruling...Obasanjo was in charge...and he had no choice. Disobeying theruling would have brought hard consequences. |
Makito015:The same Ms Ahmed that made Bubu look really bad...or are you sure you watched Bubu's interview. Because from the way BMC and APC spindocs were scrambling to explain and explain after Bubu's perfomance...Ms Ahmed really shook things up. So,why complain when she does same to YOUR candidate ? What were you guys expecting? An easy ride? |
Ratello:No offence, but I seem to recall PDP supporters clapping for Ms Ahmed when she made Buhari 'look like the lifeless one he really is' So,why would you expect her to go easy on Atiku? When she did not go easy on Bubu (I recall APC supporters scrambling to explain away Bubu's performance at the Candidates). Come now....Atiku got a real grilling...that's par the course. |
urahara:Well, this is my opinion, but 1.Low oil prices are part of the problem too....once the oil falls, revnue falls, and money going to salaries ,etcfall....which affects the economy too. 2.As for not allowing the naira to float....the simple fact is that IMO...if they had done that, that might have only made things worse. Better to apply some control...instead of letting things out of control...the better to save money(What i did not like was the differing naira rates...which allowed round tripping...altho that's been around for decades.) |
BruncleZuma:The cost of light crude oil...the OPEC light...was above $100 from 2011-14. I recall you saying upthread that OPEC light was the cheapest...well...according to this table...it was above $100 per barrel from 2011-14on average. I know you GEJ supporters try to downplay the high oil prices of that era....but facts are facts. AND...anyway...lost in the argument is the fact that our economy is fuelled by oil...and that is the issue....really. Sort that issue out...and we won't need to argue over oil prices. Bubu saved despite having low oil prices. Good for him....BUT that does not mean he is an economic mastermind either. For him to be one...he has to have a plan for diversificaiton that goes beyond 'agriculture'. |
urahara:Because oil earns most of our froeign exchange...which is then spent in country to fuel the remaining 90% of our economy. As the quoted bit explains.. Oil contributes less than 10% to GDP because most companies in the sector aren’t Nigerian, Prof Usman Muttaka of the Ahmadu Bello University economics department told Africa Check. In essence, we earn most of our forex from oil which is then spent in our services run economy...ie on stuff like phones, power, fuel, etc... Sauce of quote. |
alfredo4u:Go and vote in your country's elections. No one will recall who won BBN in ten years, but the decision made at the ballot box will be talked about in decades to.come. |
Esseite:Our forex needs were less.in 1999 than they were in 2019. Plus Obasanjo's first term was hard. Remember how they used to tell us back then that it takes time to fix the damage the Army has done |
Pekele007:We are borrowing because oil is below the price we need it to be not to borrow. Right now, we need oil at 140 USD before we can run a budget without borrowing. Oil is at 60 USD. Foreign reserves are not for spending recklessly. They are for keeping as a buffer for the day when Nigeria cannot sell oil. I'll give Buhari kudos for growing the reserve in the midst of declining oil prices. Venezuela did not do the same. See where they are now |
pinkcottoncandy:APC. Is borrowing because since they took over, oil price has been below the level we require it to be not to borrow. We need oil to be at least 140 USd per barrel before we can run a budget with zero borrowing.Under APC, oil has been below 75 USD and even as low as 30 USD. (That is why PDP borrowed from 2007 to 14 because oil, being high, was not high enough) By January 2015, Okonjo iweala was predicting hard times ahead whoever won the election. I agree APC has no ideas on how to fix our economy, however, if we did not borrow, our economy would have been in even worse shape than it is. That is the price of living in an oil dependent economy. You borrow and keep on borrowing when the price drops. And you pay heavily when the price rises. |
BigIyanga:PDP knocked down the foreign reserves from 60bn in 2010 to 32 bn in 2015 with oil above 90 USD from 2010 to 14. APC raised the reserve from 28bn to 40 bn with oil prices below 75 USD in 3 years. The economy has not been growing because we rely on oil, not necessarily because of what APC did or did not do. Where APC erred is that they have zero idea on how to get us off resource dependency |
Pekele007:Bubu's problems stem from the fact that his government has not faced the reality that Nigeria is a resource dependent poor nation that needs it's economy to be productive via industry and innovation. Taking loans is a symptom of our resources dependency. When prices go down, it is either we take loans, or salaries don't get paid. For years |
Oil was never high at 100 dollars during the PDP regime Except in 2008 and 2011 to 2014. What draws many people's ire is the fact that there werent enough savings during the time of the previous government, which was PDP. Having said that, the real problem with the Nigerian economy is our over reliance on crude oil, and our sharing the money mentality. Things which I don't see PDP, or APC changing because it means years of harsher austerity measures which don't win votes |
deboysben:So you want to replace a thief with another thief. And you are misinterpreting the Bible in the process. Don't complain when things don't change after another 8 years of PDP. You Nigerians are not ready for good governance |
modath:Pretending aside...due process is still important...so that when it is my turn, innocent little me gets protected from the rampaging mob. |
