Tmdbm:Okay...let'start... 1. December 23rd 2018 VickyFwesh18:2. maticdamian:3. Hoaxey:4. jan 15th maticdamian:5 Mr Vickers.... Oga Segun, please, in the name of God, if you need help, go to your church or mosque. Don;t play this game. Please...go and do the right thing. |
Tmdbm:This is monicker number 5....maticadam, hoaxey, mrvickers, and what is that one. And you have exams like every other week? Abeg, please, go and get a job. Begging is not job! |
CreepyBlackpool:Two wrongs don't make a right. Plus, you have a misunderstanding of Christianity. As Christians, this world is not our home. We are passing through...if we die, we beleive we go to a better life...and in that strength we keep on serving our God. |
phantonce:Because many Nigerians don't want to be like Macron. Macron joined a party in his twenties in France. For over ten years he ran around running errands for the big men, carrying their briefcase, cleaning their house, babysitting their children, making sure they got to school (ok...I am being unserious here, but you get the point). At the end of the day, when it was his time, he had the connections and the people to back him up. Many of you young and not so young Nigerians refuse to be like Buhari and Atiku....who run around , make alliances, swallow that pride and shake hands, and if possible prostrate for some proud joker who won't wipe their shoes...and even risk wasting their money on an adventure that would end in their loss.... Instead, you sit in your air conditioned office, and stamp papers after papers...then go to the bar in the evening and quaff Star or Guiness or palmi….while complaining about 'thie situation in Nigeria' Guess what...hardwork pays. Bubu and Atilku are probably corrupt...but they have spent 20 years in the political arena , and have failed at winning the presidency at least once in their lives. They have made mistakes and learned from them. And they are both so not the best we have....they just happen to be the most hardworking. No food for lazy man. |
Biafrannuke:Vote for PDP 10 years later...RESTRUCTURING 20 YEARS LATER : BIAFRA REFERENDUM I 25 YEARS LATER : BIAFRAN INDEPENDENCE. 50 YEARS LATER: Biafra lands men on Titan. Or sit down at home, and enjoy being a zoo animal....forever...and ever... Democracy is not sitting down at home. |
fk001:I live in the FCT...in a satellite town. We get 13 hours of light...on a good day. Sometimes 10 hours. I doubt there is anywhere in Nigeria that gets 24 hours of light. We generate less than 5000MW on a really good day. The APC governorship candidate for Lagos said recently that Lagos town needs 15000MW. The truth is, until we generate more than 40000MW of light in this country, we won't have light 24/7. Until DISCOS report 100% compliance with bill payment and prepaid meters too in addition, and until government stops controlling electricity prices...so that we can have enough cash to inmprove generation and transmission...we would never get light 24./7. Things have not improved. P.S That broom like thing looks ugly. |
UltimatePrime:But on this date...January 25th UltimatePrime:Please, stop trying to get easy money. It does you no good. |
Sirheny007:So, why don't we vote out PDP and APC for good? Because we don't want to do the hard work of democracy. We want to sit down in office and collect our daily bread |
Philinho:Blame decades of bad governance and decades of.failures among religious leaders of a certain religion for Boko. Police no dey run this country |
maestroferdi:The same idea that was telling us Buhari is the answer 5 years ago? And the same person that joined hands with saraki to give is Bubu. APC and PDP are after our pockets, not our interest |
Labour pains can be very terrible. Woman under labour can do all manner of stuff...because the pain is so severe. |
Watch as some people come here to call this man unwise... For me, he is a wise man. |
Pcash23:Please go and get a loan of N1million from a bank, and play your game, and then post proof of your winnings online that can be verified...then we shall believe thee. |
Before you shout FULANIS 1.The Masai OF kenya drink the BLOOD and the MILK of their cows 2.The milk that they sell in the shops...where do you think it comes from? COWS.
|
Joshmodest:Okay ,if I was a big poltician, and I dropped something for boys while campaigning...I hope you don't complain when on getting into office, I simply spend time reimbursing myself for the development money I have given you people. Nothing goes for nothing, you know... |
Joshmodest:And that is why you will forever have bad rulers.... We have been demanding our 20k from all polticians when they campaign....so naturally when they get elected they forget about development and recoup their losses. You better stop complaining about the bad leaders you have. Your comment shows you deserve them well well. |
HigherEd:So ASUU too is going against private universities...where many of their members teach and earn some extra cash.? |
Yes the strike has been called off...but the issue remains....FUNDING Which leads me to my point...eventually, the government is going to have to icnrease fees to make sure facilites stay up to date, and salaries get paid on time. That is the reality. |
adekS1:Yes I know...I grew up in the village hunting cockroaches.... u shd know when an allegation of this magnitude is presented investigation into it is necessary without taking any unbiased side bfr concludingWell, the fact is the guy just quoted one person who made allegations that cannot be confirmed...and he did not even attempt to confirm,or show us his proof, (videos, documents, etc) . u r deceiving ppl here u r not Apc memberYes, I am not into your APC or PDP fights. Both csndidates are disappointments...plus this is just a fight between big man one and some of his exsupporters. I support the NCP. Next.... yet u rush to disregard the info as untrue while u avnt make any attempt to at least confirm its authenticity.Well,Mr Journalist offered no corroborating evidence...hence my suspicion was raised. Note...I am ready to beleive any story...so long as there is evidence. Hearsay can be deadly. In 1966,someone reported fake news as fact, and millions of innocent people died. next time try harder.. we all need this country to b beta, don't let this old octogenarian be using uWell, the old octogenariean annoys me too. But replacing him with a septugenarian who was interestingly among the people that put the octogenariean over us in the first place 5 years ago....why should I trust people who made such a poor judgement 5 years ago to support a failure of a party like APC. And why should I trust the failures in the PDP too ? Why does it have to be APC or PDP? Why can't it be someone else? Because we Nigerians don't like doing the hardwork callled democracy. You are waiting for Atiku to come and save you...the same way some Bubuists are waiting for Buhari to do what he has not been able to do. Go and bow down to your god Atiku. My loyalty is to Nigeria and its peoples. Allpoliticans in APC and PDP can frankly go suck a lemon. |
Hmmm I don'tknow about the situation in Sweden, but in Norway, a woman once smacked one of her four children, because the child was biting one of the other children. It wasn't even a severe smack, and the woman did not beat her children regularly. That was enough to have her children taken away from her.(The woman was an Arab by the way) As a child growing up,my mother used the cane on me when I misbehaved. She would go out, pluck a big stick, and whip me with it. Now,if we were living abroad, and she did that...she would have gotten into trobule with child authorities. I don't know this woman's story...and for all I know she could be lying. But the problem is, European standards are different from Nigerian standards. If you hit your child in a European or North Amerrican country....even if it is gentle smack like the woman in Norway...your kids can be taken away from you. If you hit your wife if you are a Nigerian man (hitting one's wife is wrong, Nigeria or oyinbo,by the way)...you could be in jail. The problem is, Nigerians find it diffiuclt to adjust to the culture of a new land (it's aproblem worldwide...by the way)...and as a result...end up in disasters like that. To any Nairalander thinking of porting abroad...better read up on nonviolent ways to discipline your children. Watch Supernanny or any other similar programmes. You are a stranger in a strange, often racist land. Trust no one. |
Bolo12:Well, I heard that APC supporters in Enugu did not get their voters card,as well as APCsupporters in Bayelsa, and APC supporters in the Planet Jupiter too have not gotten their pvc. Do you believe that? Of course not...because I am telling a lie...and most importantly,I have no corroborating evidence. The sad thing about Nigeria is that anyone can wake up and tell a story about anything. And as history has shown, this can lead to sad events. Like I said, the story might be true. the lies i posted here about Bayelsa,Enugu and Jupiter (FYI...no human being can live in Jupiter)...might be true....but in the abscence of corroboration....I am inclined to take them as lies until proven otherwise. And no,I don't support APC or PDP....and this election is a dissapointment for me. |
Call me an APC supporter...but I don't believe this news. All we have are two stories 1.Aquote from a resident of a part of Lagos...a single ward. 2.A quote from a woman in Southern Kaduna that 'christians are being denied voters card' (Southern Kaduna is predominatly Christian). The problem with these stories is that in the abscence of corroborating evidence, there is no valid proof that 'they are true'. The truth is,fake news is a serious problem in this country. I don't doubt that INEC ,under APC's influence, could be up to some chicanery...but at the same time, let's not run on hearsay. |
This is a response to the thread.... Buhari's memory loss normal Today, Festus Keyamo,SAN made a comment,of which the first part is attached below. I would like to draw Nairalander's attention to the first part of the comment... “This is classic FAKE NEWS (no single link to a CREDIBLE source)Note...KEYAMO is essentially prefacing the blasphemous quote by saying it is FAKE NEWS...not from any credible source. Yet, the tweet was taken out of context and misnterpreted as Keyamo making a blasphemous quote. This is the sad state of affairs we find ourselves in, that fake news is being openly propagated in Nairaland. I must remind our countrymen that many times in our country's history, atrocities have been committed as a result of fake news. I appeal to Seun, Mynd44 and Lalasticlala to take down the previous thread, and for the website to in the name of PEACE retract the original news story. For the peace and prosperity of Nigeria Appendix The 'offending' tweet The original news/fake news report
|
Note that this is what Keyamo actually said... According to Keyamo: “This is classic FAKE NEWS (no single link to a CREDIBLE source)Note...KEYAMO identifies the quote as FAKE NEWS...meaning he did not make the comment attrributed to him. And yet...the comment is posted here on front page as if he said this. Seun, Lalasticlala, mynd44....this thread has to be taken down before the innocent suffer. |
Nairaland has a serious problem with fake news. Keyamo is debunking the rumor that he made the false quote...yet some blogger is basically reinterprieting the comment to make it appear as if Keyamo siad the blasphemous quote so as to generate traffic to his site. It is sad that all manner of fake and evil news is being pasted to create crisis and confusion ahead of the elections. I have reported this thread to the mods. Not because of politics...but because this is not right. |
Jiang:ABU is a very large and expansive university...located on a large piece of land. It consists of two campuses in Zaria, a campus in Funtuwa, Katsina State for remedial students, and several other affiliated institutions. Am even surprised the overhead is 600million self. Might have been higher. |
mu2sa2:Yes... Abike Dabiri tried small..then she went into poltics...and the program hosts ended up being all these generic NTA hosts....sigh. |
The cold truth is that our universities are loss making institutions. In November 2017, the VC of ABU in a speech stated that his overhead costs are 600million per annum. He gets 100million from government. Where is he going to find the remaining 500million? Charge extra fees. What even makes things bad is that the money is not enough. Throw in corruption...and you get the point. The harsh truth is that if you want good universites...if you want universities that look like the nice ones abroad...you pay high school fees. Because it is becoming difficult to fund education in this country.Ideally, in my opinion (my opinion...mindyou) we should be spending 5 trillion naira yearly on education...primary,secondary and tertiary. Instad we spend N800bn out of a budget of N8-9 trillion, with an oil price that has been falling since 2014. So either fees go up, or we take fat loans...or we just accept poorly equipped universities...while Afe BABALOLA,Covenant and Babcock...where fees are over N1million per annum for some courses...take over.....and the graduates get the better jobs. |
urahara:Don't know about that...but the fact that they cannot make enough money might be a factor in their not having deep pockets too. |
dadark:The DISCOS and GENCOS are not functioning well because the law governing privatisation had a clause allowing government to control the prices of electricity sold. In essence , many DISCOS are operating at a loss...so they cannot pay adequately for power from the GENCOS....and as such funding for power generation and transmission is low. That's why things are not better. |
Privettoall:NITEL failed because they lost the technology war to the GSM and CDMA operators. Once the GSM operators in particular got past their teething problems (yes, there are still issues...but things were FAR worse)...NITEL was doomed. Yes, NTEL (it's GSM subsidary) tried...but they did not have the sweeteners that MTN, now AIRTEL and GLO had....especially when they got into the internet era. Then there was that privatisiaiton saga. P.S...Nitel card booths worked very well in the late 1990's and early 2000's...but they were doomed by GSM. |
nwanyionitsha:One like for the bolded. ![]() Restructuring can make the Biafra project happen though(it can smoothen the road greatly)....but at the same time,it can make it difficult to get there. Quebec and Scotland had the chance to split from Canada and the UK respectively vial referendum.Part of the reasons why they did not split was that they already had most of the benefits of being an independent country while being part of bigger countries. I don't support IPOB or breaking up the country, but if anyone wants to get to that goal...I ain't stopping them...JUST do it within the legal framework we have here...and voting for a party like PDP that does not support secession BUT supports the next best thing...is a start. |

I'm now more convinced that ASUU leadership is very foolish. Private Universities are the cash and carry universities that is being referred to lol. What is dubious about advertising non disruption to academic calendar, which is the major selling point of any private university? Should all universities in the country be shut down simply to satisfy ASUU's ego? Or would ASUU be happier if these students are moving to Togo, Benin republic and Ghana just to get stable education at the expense of Nigeria's economy.
