Car TalkTransmission System Cooler? Can Kill Your Car's Transmission System by TRYGO(op): 9:08pm On Sep 21, 2018
I was just trying to type.....before it escaped my mind.

Yeah, so as we were saying, before you interrupted me.
Alot of transmission systems we see being replaced, may just not be that bad.

Some of them could actually be repaired, and fitted back.
But the problem has always being getting the expertise, and replacement kits for such a "patient" job.
So, have you ever thought about this often neglected component on a transmission system, on all cars, when you go shopping for a used replacement transmission system?

A transmission system cooler has extend the lifespan of your car's transmission fluid, and the transmission itself.
How you get to identity some of it's early signs of problems, and its fix, would go along way sustaining it.

Here's a link of an article I just wrote a while ago.
Shows you what that cooler looks like, and how you could avoid future problems from them.

Car TalkIs It An Ndi-igbo Policy? by TRYGO(op): 10:01am On Sep 21, 2018
Well, sorry, if I posted this in the wrong section.
I have being checking through what relevant sections NL has that's relevant to this thread.

The moderator could move it to the relevant sections, if it might cause some...

I'm not trying to strike the string of ethnic sentiments here, or stir up a feeling of superiority, amongst the lots of ethnic groupings we have in the country.

Here's what I have noticed:
1. Was it a kind of policy, in the East, or Ndiigbo, for a master service thing, when for instance, after an apprentice has FAITHFULLY served his master, MUST be SETTLED?
I don't know if that exists with other ethnic groups I know of.

2. You can go to a business environment, eg, Ladipo, and you'd see lots of Igbo business traders selling the same goods/services side by side, without problems of jealousy, and all that.
But its difficult you see that, pardoned me, with the Yoruba's. At least I have had such experiences. They tend for instance, if you are located close to them perhaps in the same line of business, they just don't feel comfortable. If you're let's say, coming close to rent a shop, they asks you what sort of business do you want the shop for. If it's same with folks close by, they tell you, we can't assist with a shop.

My inference: appears the Igbo's are more open to competition (maybe they do understand the dynamics of market forces, or so); they tend to established their fellow family members, no matter how small.

NB: I brought this discuss up, because of what I saw in Ladipo yesterday.

A customer of mine there sells tools. He has successfully established his younger brothers in the tooling business in the market, and positioned them at different locations in the market.

Each time I see this guy, I feel happy for him.

He must be feeling fulfilled also!

Y are people always scared of COMPETITION, up to the extent of ... You know that should be.

Please....this isn't trying stir up sentiments. Its just that I admire the business model they employ.
I don't know if it's a policy in the East though.

This is something similar to the Japanese business model that revolves around the families.

I wished other ethnic groups could copy this model of business, and see things change for the better.

Car TalkRe: How Do I Buy New Gear Unit(13-pins) For Replacement In Toyota Camry 09 Model?. by TRYGO(m): 7:53pm On Sep 19, 2018
To the OP!
Here are my submissions:

1. How did your guys confirmed that the transmission system already has headed South! (bad)?

2. That transmission system, is same on RX330s.

3. About their reliability as states by your mechanics, I don't think they are correct.
Such transmission systems, are delicate, just like the 22pins, on some vehicles (eg, Camry SE 2007 V6).
Well, according to my experiences, the ones I have replaced, failed, because the previous owner, did used the wring transmission fluid, and in some cases, we had to replaced solenoids in the transmission(that's rare though).

3. Modifying the transmission system, using a 10pinout transmission system, which is cheap, blabla as postulated by your electricians, would only cause you lots of problems at the end, and double expenditures.

Here's an experience I recently had on a RX 330.

* customer brought in vehicle, and complains regularly about jerky engagements, from 2-4.

*scanned transmission system, got a code related to the pressure solenoid not working (open circuit problems).

Discoveries
* transmission system in the car was a 10pinout one,

*wiring harnesses has being tempered with,

*unknown history of fluid change, since they bought the car, Nigerian used.

The fix?

*I went the Ladipo way (I meant, parts supplied from that axis).

*¶¶¶¶¶¶}{
{for 13/22pinout transmission systems, the guys in the market, would never sell the transmission system to you, without their mechanics coming to fix em.¶¶¶¶¶¶¶

¶¶¶¶¶¶¶
bought 2Nos four liters of transmission fluids (this, you must buy, in their presence). That costs, ~15k/4L......~#30k for 8L.

*after they replaced the transmission system, it didn't work.

At the end, we discovered, that the ECU installed, was also faulty (that replaced, everything worked fine).

I know this might be a long response to you, but I feel I need to abreast you with what modifying a 13>10pinout, might coat you.

NB: Don't allow them modify the transmission system pls

Use the right fluids, after the install

T4 Toyota transmission fluid is what you should use pls

If your car has a transmission cooker separate asides that linked to the radiator, do ensure you get that checked before installing the new one(would help avoid issues of contaminations, if the cause of failure was as a result of such).

Scan the car. What sort of pump was installed?
After the fuel pump was replaced, were the fuel injectors also serviced? If you didn't do any of that, then you .might have the orifices of the injectors blocked, or the pressure on the replaced pump isn't enough to keep up with the load.

I don't think you've followed that civil war, so keenly, when thousands were slaughtered by Assad.

I know there were genuine oppositions against the government's lack of democratic freedoms, and all that.

ISIS, which metamorphosed from Alqueda, had a different agenda, asides the FSA.

They wanted to establish a caliphate, and topple the secular government in that country.

Because of the lackadaisical attitude of Obama, the Russians, Iranians, and their proxies, intervened to stop the plans to topple him.

The terrorists, and perhaps, moderate opposition groups, have or are being separated from the islamists, and apparently cornered to a particular region, for a final showdown by the govt a d her allies against them.

Cornering these terrorists, in Idlib, and mounting surgical strikes against them is the best.

Though, this might be a long and protracted war, but at the end, the terrorists would be defeated, and maybe, a new constitution agreed upon in the country.

So, back to your comments now.

The "yan'boko" guys share the sane ideology with these people. In fact, they had a caliphate before now.

My opinion though.

I'm afraid of this man somehow ooo! He somehow thinks like my UNOFFICIAL MENTOR, Elon Musk. If given the needed government backing, he'd do tremendous things.

This man may in the future venture into space explorations.

But my problem is that, patronage from the East (from his kinsmen) isn't encouraging.

If the FG does not encourage him, let the government's in the East rise up to the challenge, and do the needful.

PS: think of what would happen, if he perhaps ventures into drone technology, and AI.

That would have a huge impact across the country, positively.

Lot of the naysayers would be very fearful of the future, with such a feat coming from a region that has suffered tremendously over the years.

Foreign AffairsNigerian Military. Can You Employ These Strategies Up North? by TRYGO(op): 9:05pm On Sep 11, 2018
As Syria's military campaign, gradually comes to an, with the purported preparations by Syria's allies to retake the last bastion of rebel forces in its southernmost border, would it not be right, if the Nigerian military utilize this same military strategy to defeat Nigeria's terrorists up North?

What's this strategy?
Give the terrorists, or rebels, free passages to an area of their choosing. Give them free transportation, and Medicare for their families.

Get them concentrated in a particular region, and finally prepare to invade and destroy them.

Though, there might be humanitarian issues that may pop-up!

It appears this strategy may work.

Only time would tell, when the operations begins probably this week or so, by Syria's allies(Iran, Russia, and a reluctant Turkey).

Welcome to NL.
Some questions for you:
1. What sort of car is this?
2. Has any modifications done on the fan before?
3. What have you done ever since this problem started?

White funds coming out of the radiator part as you said, in my view maybe you .want to say, vapor or so. But such vapours would only escape, if the engine coolant's temperature is excessive, as depicted from tour radiator fans' stoppage.

So you perceive any rubber/plastic kind of smell from that area? I'd yes, the fan's wiring harness might be touching a the exhaust manifold at the front.

If according to you when you started the car, the fan came on, it isn't supposed to be that way. Although, this would vary from kind of vehicle.

Has there being any modifications done to the fans lately? Direct fan connections?

Car TalkShe Drove Her Car To "Stupor"? by TRYGO(op): 7:53pm On Sep 09, 2018
INTRODUCTION
Take it easy people! I know you were curious to know if she or it, actually was stuporous.

I meant, she drove her mini car, a Suzuki 1.3L, three cylinder engine to death.

Sorry, if my use of "stupor", makes you ..., or ...

This car has being serving her for years now, and suddenly, she found herself, stalled on the road, somewhere in Lagos, Island.

Cars behind her, were blaring their hones, and hewing insults at her. But she behaves as if she wasn't bothered.

Yeah, that's the kind of scenes we see daily on Lagos roads, if you're here, and have never experienced that before.

She luckily got some " yan'kashe wondo"(I meant area boys), that gave her a helping hand, by pushing/moving, (or anyone you would want to use), the car off the road.

Called a towing van, and got it towed down to the shop.

CONDITIONS OF THE ENGINE
1. Engine wasn't starting, nor cranking over;

2. No enough engine oil in the oil gauge;

3. Hand turned the engine to determine free play.
Realised, unfortunately that the engine had seized.

A seized engine means it can't turn over. Usually, this depicts critical engine components, such as failed crankshaft, connecting rods, or any of the bearings might have failed.

OUR DISCOVERIES, AND Y IT REALLY FAILED
1. On disassemble of the engine, lubricating oil in the engine was VERY dark, with sludges in it, and some soot.

This, clogged most of the oil galleries in the valve train, the oil strainer(and oil filter).
Having these parts starved of lubrication which acts as their coolants, was a sure and speedy way they failed.

CONCLUSION 1:
The engine has had no oil change for a loooooog!!! time now(from the quality of oil in the engine, one knows this).

According to anonymous sources, that was a daily commuter for the owner, and has never had even its coolants or oil checked a day.

2. Crankshaft's journal, on #1, had severe signs of scouring (some signs of burns as a result of insufficient oil supply), while the others, were dully lubricated.

Conclusion 2:
Since this crankshaft journal #1 was closest to the oil pump, and the others farthest, this supports our thinking that the oil pump, didn't fail, and the only probable reasons why it seized in that location, was because of the nonuniformity of sludge distributions on the crankshaft and engine block oil galleries.

Engine oil pump is much intact, in the case an engine rebuild would be considered.

THE FIX?
A used replacement engine was installed in the car, and customer urged to ensure,
1. Always use recommended spec oil engine oil, and filter(s).

2. Have all fluids and coolants in the car checked, at least once a week.

Although, some folks here, might dispute this.
But I pretty much believe, you check that thing once a week, and you don't have to spend that much on unplanned or emergency repairs as this client did.

3. Don't continue driving a vehicle, with an engine noise.

Such little noises gradually translates to something catastrophic in future.

Have a mechanic inspect any suspicious noise(s) emanating from tour engine.

In essence, using recommended engine oils, scheduled oil changes, and paying attentions to unusual engine noises, would avert problems lime this, and enhanced a prolonged engine lifespan.

PS: Notice picture #1 had the connecting rod connected(it looks black, and burnt from lack of lubrication), and compare that with connecting rod on #3 farthest from the #1. You'd notice the difference. It is not black, and burnt.

Joseph

@autologic. I think you need some in depth thinking on your comments here.

Here's my logic:
Its my opinion here pls.

For problems as this that the op has presented, I'd sure use such a fuel pump of that capacity to test, and even use on that car.

1.Reason being, I consider a used V8 fuel pump, equivalent to a new V6 fuel pump i n the market, except if I'm certain there would e genuine fuel pump of actual capacity with the OP's engine.

2. That fuel system on that car, has a fuel pressure regulator. So that would take care of any rich situations you're talking about.

3. And finally, always have at the back of your mind that people MUST not think or share same opinions with you.

We all are different!

The automotive market is just so!!/huge, and one person can't fill up all the voids.

please, correct me if I'm wrong on the logic above.

Car TalkRe: How Far Can You Drive Your Vehicle On Empty? by TRYGO(m): 10:19am On Sep 07, 2018
If you say, empty, I'd understand that to be no duel at all in the tank.

The pictorial on display is for reserve, or something? Well, back to your question.

For me, j think it all depends on the vehicle brands, engine capacity, and driver's driving pattern/behavior.

I drove a Highlander hybrid 2008 yesterday, from Isolo to Ajah (Northwest filing station), stuck I. traffic, and back to the mainland yesterday, with the tank showing RED(reserve?).

The psychological impacts that had in me was huge. It was raining heavily yesterday, and here I'm, stuck in gridlock.

My wonderful eyes, were intermittently focused on the fuel gauge, while driving. I hate such kind of feelings.

Before I got to Gbagada, I was hyper... on the hybrid system(making sure, I was constantly using the EV mode than the ICE).

Got the tank filled up, and was good to go.

So, in essence, never allow your fuel get down that level.

Fuel systems are at a risks of sucking in diets, and for a hybrid car, you stand a risk of a depleted HV battery pack.

@usroh. The charging duration is dependent on the current state of charge (SOC) of the battery, and the charging current (output) of the charging station's facility.

Note that such charge stations output current, are modified, a d not the regular 15-20A you ha e at some homes. They are about, 40A(can't get the exact figure off my mind right now), with large diameter wire gauges.

Battery electric vehicles are not cranked or started using an alternator.

Only conventional cars use alternator systems.

Electric cars rely only on their charged battery capacities for whatever range you desire.

Nice write up!

+depending on the type of vehicle, and the manufacturer's components locations, for instance, in the RX330, and some other American vehicles, the transmission system, at least on some I ha e worked on, have got transmission system coolers positioned at the front of the grille (at the condenser side), or the driver side fender(in the RX330).

The transmission system coolers are there to dissipate the excessive heat generates by the transmission system, during operations. If the transmission system coolers are unable to efficiently dissipate this heat, that leads to transmission fluid additives breakdowns, and subsequent transmission failure.

Always ensure the transmission cookers are not clogged with debris, and detritus, to help heat exchanges.

You could use an old tooth brush, and water to cleanup the dirts.

Do not use pressurised washing machines on the cooler.

That's my one cent addition.

Its a global trend I have seen with the con wens a lot of people have, as regards, range on charge, and perhaps, in the case of Nigeria, the current power woes we have.

In my opinion, corporations solely in the fossilized auto businesses, along side the supply chain, would do all it takes to stymie the adoption of electric vehicles globally.

The adoption of this technology, would take away their jobs.

The oil giants like Shell, Chevron, how do you want them to survive? Except if they decide to diversify their operations to that market.

You can already see the comments its generating here.

Except there are incentives put forward by the national government for people who currently own gasoline powered vehicles to give them in, for the electric ones, no one would ever go an electric vehicle.

In Nigeria right now, no one cares about global warming, and the disastrous effects that has on the environment(inclusive of humans here please) and to economies.

Our priorities, including that of the government, is economy above the environment.

Instead of a full battery electric vehicle, I'd prefer a hybrid vehicle (has either a diesel or petrol and the HV battery pack supplementing each other). You don't need electricity for charging then, as you ha e in your regular Tesla, Nissan leaf, etc.

Welcome to NL.

Do you have a check engine light kit on the dashboard?

If you do, get it scanned for codes.

Washing the radiator, shouldn't cause the problem. It might be a coincide.

Get a new genuine replacement V6 fuel pump for the car, or if you can't afford that, you could get a used V8 pump, and that would serve you perfectly.

The hard starting, and lack of power, might be due to a failing crankshaft/camshaft sensor(s).

I don't think your kick starter is the problem here. As Kong as it cranks the engine, and not just the normal problematic click sound often heard, when a starter motor, is about to fail or failing.

Hope this helps you sort your problems?
