What is wrong with us in Nigeria? The crime rate is going to blow the roof off soon. angry shocked huh
As long as we continue to keep quite about those who obtain wealth illegally, cheating, without any hard work (you call them sharp guys, smart guys)... We keep quite about it.... The sacred cows (yes even Pastors who are supposed to live a life of charity -> Giving out to the needy not showing off any flashy life - yes it is not right Jesus did not live flashy life. If you are his pastor, neither should you - UNLESS you are NOT his pastor).
-
These are the things that are happening that increase the crime rate in Nigeria.

Simple.
Things are not going his way.

His father farmed yams or something, saved enough cowries, married and fulfilled his life.

The young man now lives in the 21st century. Everybody wants instant result. Farming yam is too damn slow. He doesn't want to own a bicycle, he wants a G-wagon. Internet has exposed him to glitter and glamour he cannot afford.
The girl he is eyeing is asking N200,000 iPhone, 100,000 Brazilian hair,....he doesn't have "oil" job.
He's damn right frustrated. His parents request irritate him.

He snapped (momentary insanity).

Africa is in a mess because we took ½ of European values and left the other ½.
-
Young persons going to school is a European value. Africans didnt traditionally go to school in mass numbers like that.
Young persons in a workforce is a European value. Africans didn't traditionally have a "workforce". Just people going to farms.
-
Because you have all been hanging out with your mates, going to school, and joining a workforce, you then automatically expect the next step to be accepted, the dating and Independence stage just like the Europeans. That is the stage when African customs kick back into the system and surprise many unprepared minds.
-
As long as chiefs exist in villages, African customs are not going anywhere. Europeans no longer have any chiefs in villages. No one is handed power to rule over others by birthright alone. Their ways are all democratic, electing who best fits the post without any regard to ethnicity. Every position is open to anybody.
-
African parents will Lord it over their children whatever their ages. This is an African thing. This is what works for this environment.

It's just like saying type writters are better than PCs. Smh.
But for what it does, a typewriter is better than a PC.
Give 2 jobs to 2 people. 1 on type writer the other on PC.
Tell them to type out a letter.
After 10minutes, the person on the typewriter has typed the letter, it is on paper and he has submitted it to you.
-
After 3 hrs the person on PC has not logged out of Facebook. 4hrs, he is looking for ink for the printer. 5hrs, NEPA took light.
-
It's all about focus. Manual transmission helps you focus on the driving. Automatic -> WhatsApp/Facebook.

What blows me off is that the man who invented disel engine, used oil to run it, and disel engines does not require spark plugs, the compressed air gets hot enough to ignite the fuel and run the engine
The guy's name is Otto Diesel. He named the engine after himself. The fuel he put inside was just called oil. Because it is oil. It is success/popularity that made everybody to kukuma call the oil Diesel, and the engine Diesel engine.

I think you are right. Gas is better still. However the issue of where to keep the cylinder that will occupy extra apace. Then all your fuel gauge cannot be used to know how much gas is left. Also, the conversion kit only works on petrol engine that has spark plugs.
-
Indirectly, we're back again to buying petrol car and converting it to use gas.

So encouraged whoever made this, mediocre or not.
10,000 years ago, when Oyibo started their own, it was never this shape. You know very well that Oyibos know how to draw, design, calculate and document. You have internet, you have books to read. Stove design is never this fanciful. But Bros ignored all historic information and is expecting us to clap for him. Has even him tested it?

Plenty theory, no practical. That's the Nigeria experience, why not invent a better one or improve on this?
There's nothing to improve on this one. The inventor did not consult a single engineer or read any book before creating this.
I know, because if he did, it CANNOT be this shape. The shape is completely inefficient with waste of materials. The most efficient shape is a box.

As long as we can import whatever we need from overseas by writing one email, on making one cheap phone call to China, people will be relived of more jobs.

-
Hence the STRANGE and ridiculous behaviour of most kids today tat can drive a father mad to injure his son this way.

The world YOU grew up in is GONE. They have no idea what you are talking about and they are not even taught history in school. All they know is TODAY, NOW.

Mindfulness:
I grew up around Westerners who were raised in a different way. My parents were extremely strict but the other kids were more responsible than me. I changed with time but I know that I will raise my kids differently 'cause not trusting your kids and being over-controlling does not lead to the desired results. The Nigerian society is proof of that.
When in Rome, do as the Romans.
-
Western contries have benefit system to cater for jobless/homeless adults. An adult is one who is 18yrs and above. Parents are only responsible for their kids till 18yrs. After that the Child can go and find job and live on their own. No matter how E bad reach, the child can always collect benefit from government.
It pays for such parents to do Friend-friend with their kids.
-
in Nigeria, there is no benefit, no social care. Nothing. Your parents continue remaining responsible for you till you whatever age you can start paying your own house rent and generally f**k off from the home. So you better obey and respect them otherwise they fling you out to the main road where you will grow Dada hair ad slowly deteriorate like many of the mad people you see walking around in Lagos. Nobody cares about them.
-
NOBODY.
FamilyRe: Things A Typical Nigerian Parent Won't Accept From Western Culture by uuzba(m):

Telling Them You Wanna Live Alone At 18
The issue of 18years is political.
-
Western countries have benefit system to cater for the poor/jobless adults. Then they have social services care for the Children from broken homes or orphans.
-
18 years is the appropriate age when they decide that a child is now an adult.
-
If you leave your parents home at 18 and wahala befalls you and you become a begger, they will take you off the streets and register you as an adult to receive benefits to stay alive till you can get a job. They will even try to find a job for you unless you are are so daft that you cannot even keep a job. Such daft persons deteriorate into drugs/prostitution and slowly end up in jail or dead.
--
In Nigeria/Africa such systems are not in place. If you leave your parents house at ANY age, you are on your own. NOBODY is obliged to help you. So either you stay at home and behave your self or you just f**k off and face the world like a full adult. Marry whatever lady you impregnate. Face your responsibility.

Nigeria is a very diverse and conflicting place and we send out mixes messages to the rest of the world.
When the typical whiteman sees the jeeps our senators and pastors are driving, he will think that all Nigerians are billionaires.

When he sees boko harram killing people, diapalced and insured people he will think all Nigerians are are foolish

When he receives 419 scam email, he will think all Nigerians are scammers.

When he sees Oni of Ife in USA with coral beads and agbada, he will think. Nigerians don't know how to wear coat and tie.

When he see/hears the grammatical errors we make on Twitter, or hears some poor English/pronunciation, he will think Nigerians are illiterate.

We are not scammed, I guess our leaders failed to move with the times..

When every other nations were reviewing their education structure, we were still stuck with the old format..
Hence our present predicament..

Our education structure needs to be reviewed and adequately funded as stipulate by UNESCO 14% budgetary allocation..

The question is this !

Are our leaders readyhuh??
Buhahi has School Certificate, Dino has 3rd Class.
You, yes YOU! YOU have 2-1 or even 1st Class or Masters.
Do you think Buhari and Dino are not SCARED OF YOU?
If they improve Nigeria's education and everybody has 1st class degrees (UK standard), don't you know that we would easily topple the idiots from their positions? Have them ruthlessly flogged and sent to prison on accout of "gross stupidity".?

So NO! This is their last power over you. They will not improve the education system because they need you continuously ignorant enough to BOW BEFORE THEM. And collect the f***king N50 they will put inside N80 bread when they come around to bribe you again for your vote during election period.

They have already started again.

Are you going to collect?

I think our education setting generally is a fraud ..
Instead of helping us to be independent, creative, adventurous and self reliant.. We are forced to be dependent on it and have this entitlement mentality..

It's only few people that have broken from its jinx to build something worth while , others are just in between, many are just lost !!!

God help us !!
Look at it this way.
Let's say that merit was all that it took to rise up in Nigeria.
You start from Nursery school, you do well, pass well, on to primary, in to secondary, in to university. You are educated and wise, there is need for a leader, and amongst you and your peers, you ad chosen as the most competent, at work, at school at village, at societies at local government at state an finally as president or statesman.

Just by merit, one can move up the ladder.
-
But is this the case?
The lecture doesn't want you to pass because it meas tat next year, you to will not buy his handout. And you will leave him behind at the
University. Maybe become the VC and sack him.
-
Definity our president doesn't want you to be President because it means, you will sack him, arrest him, probe him in a panel, and send him off o his village with no more government money.
-
Basically, in the whole system, those untop do not want you to get to their level or above them.
-
The pastor wears the finest watch, shoe, g-wagon... The guy does not want you to rise above him. If he is kind at all, maybe he will allow you "rise" small (from 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom . you will be there dancing). But juat like the president, he don't want you rising above him - eh? Your own G5? Lie-lie.

Therefore the teachers and lectures give you little. Or make the knowledge difficult to understand. So that you "hopefully" do not rise.
And they continue remaining "above" you.

If you have sence, pass their exam for them move onwards but NOW seriously seek EDUCATION. Learn how to do something with your hands and feed yourself. You can check YouTube.

There are actually 2 things involved.
1. Knowledge
2. Education.
-
Nigerian universities and schools give you knowledge.
-
A parent/father figure/a teacher who is INTERESTED IN YOU, educates you. - he helps and tells you what to do with the knowledge that you have so that you will not die.
-
If you pray to God sincerely, you will realise that he is he best eductor. If you don't pray to God, you might have a hard time getting educated. Your head will just be full of knowledge (facts and figures) but you remain totally uneducated.

To all youths out there education is a BIG scam and time waster

angry cry
Without education, you will be like animals. Like the fish in the sea humans have been setting the same gaddem trap for fish (a net or a hook), yet the fish cannot learn from their mistake in falling into our trap. They can't teach their fish children not to fall for our net and hook trap. You know how many generation upon generation of fish human beings have caught and eaten? Yet they cannot learn. You, if somebody is catching your family members and eating them, will you still stay in that place?

That is how ignorance / mumu/ lack of education is. School is still a good place to get educated. Although life is the beat educator of all.
