Busy_body:This is just not TRUE |
Crime rate is relatively high in Parts of Pretoria and J'Burg. Car jacking is coming. Part of J'Burg is as bad as Isale Eko with the area boys. |
dell_net:Yes I am afraid of people that throw insults around while supporting or trying to justify crime and criminals. Check out the difference between partnership and affiliations. Find out what Boustead and YTL are into and why they went into partnership with Nottingham. Guess if MTN enters partnership with University of Ibadan that automatically establish an affiliation. Check the experience of a Nigerian in a Malaysian University https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-823035.0.html Anyway, to each his own. |
dell_net:You make me laugh! I hope it is not the same Nigeria that police daily harassed and torment people. Seems you are upset that Malaysia caught criminals with stolen items At least now you agree that criminals in Nigeria migrated to Malaysia. Must be saints alone remaining in Nigeria then. When you are through, google Curtin University and find out about their campus in Singapore and Malaysia and whether it's an affiliation that they have. Check our Nottingham University also. Fraud? Interesting. This is my last response to you! Always wonder about those making excuses for criminals and criminal behaviours. |
dell_net:Ha ha ha. Typical. So you would prefer them to allow the Nigerian criminals running free in their country? Malaysia society is whacked based on what? What will you say of Nigeria then? How many foreign students are in Nigeria learning in class and outside of class? Nigerians pay the most to become criminals Affiliation? They are UK/US/Australian schools! Not affiliation! It's a pity that instead of dealing with the problems we are pointing fingers at those trying to rid their country of criminals. Not every country celebrate crime and criminality you know? |
dell_net:Maybe you should ask whether your people went to any recognised school or maybe they just attended a language school! Malaysia does have GOOD universities. There are many 'cheap' UK/USA/AUSTRALIAN universities in Malaysia. I know a number of medical doctors doing their training in Malaysian universities. Yes the law expect you to carry a means of identification around. Malaysians go around with their ID card! That makes it easy to identify and people in case of emergency or crime. Police will not burst into your door if there is no reason to do so. It is because of their 'laws' that's why the country is one of the foremost tourist destination. Tourism is a major income for Malaysia. Nigerians seem to want to destroy any country! Yes they can shove their visas up their behinds. That's what we said to all the countries instead of us cleaning up our acts. As per their educational sector, you think they depend on Nigeria to survive? I laugh!!!!! Let Nigerians spend their cash in their own countries. Lets continue to support criminality and other vices! |
dell_net:What is BAD in going to Malaysia for PhD? We should be asking ourselves why we find it so difficult to obey the laws of the land! Why cant we learn to do the right things and do things right? Na only we dey for this world? 80 electronic products doing what? Nigerians are the ones with student visa but not attending any school! Soon, Malaysia will stop giving Nigerians visa based on our reputation. |
For those thinking of Malaysia, look before you leap. There is a clampdown on Nigerians now. Most have overstayed so dont have a valid visa again. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/12/13/nation/10083927&sec=nation |
Be careful which type of ticket you are buying. Is it a flexible ticket that allows you to make changes etc. If you are based in Nigeria, Emirates does not allow you to pay online. You will still have to make your payment at a bank. The amount you see on the emirate site is the fare inclusive of tax. |
PROUD-IGBO:What will the people gained by acquiring Nigerian Passport? Does the Nigerian passport confer on them any special benefit? |
FAST-LINK:IDEALLY, if you are not buying for sale (maybe one pieces each), you are not expected to pay custom duties because they can be classified as your personal effect especially if you have stayed 'long' abroad. However, knowing Nigerians, everyone will be looking to extort money from you ![]() |
dalebutt1:There was the story of a Nigerian living on welfare who now organised a party and invited the officials giving her the welfare cheques. They came and saw how she was serving expensive drinks for the party and they left wondering how she qualified for welfare ![]() |
27naira:Dont mind them. They mislead people and at the end of the day, those people will take to crime after spending fortunes to cross over. Nigerians need to get out of the idea that there is one country where streets are paved with gold! Except you are into CRIME, expect tough times living in a foreign land. Even the citizens are not finding it easy. This is applicable to EVERY country. |
Soon we will say that Malaysia is a racist country and that they discriminate against Nigerians. Not sure what we expect when we seems to be exporting criminals to every country. |
Comm Noor Rashid said the involvement of African nationals in drugs trafficking was showing an upward trend, adding that among the 173 Africans arrested so far this year, 139 were Nigerians.http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/12/8/nation/10052965&sec=nation |
justwise:Never say never. He should find out. I know schools that allows you to do that for their MBA programme. You basically continue in another campus if for any reason you have to relocate from where your current centre is located. In Malaysia there are many UK and Australia schools with campuses there. The attraction is to pay 'cheap' tuition while getting a 'uk' degree. |
justwise:Not really. There are many schools in Malaysia offering UK or Australian degree. They do provide opportunities for you to have part of your studies in Malaysia and the remainder in Australia or UK. For example, Curtin University in Australia has campuses in Malaysia (Miri for example) and many students start off in Malaysia and go to Australia to complete their studies. Nottingham has the same arrangement. Not sure though IF the same applies to a one year masters programme. You also need to confirm IF the fees will change if you transfer. For starters, why dont you ask for the name of the school and contact them directly? Why do you need an agent to process your admission? |
Kingzy4pep:Try Curtin University Miri Sarawak, Malaysia and see whether you can transfer to Australia later. You will not be allowed to work in Malaysia though. |
suxes2006:Difficult to survive 'hustling' in any organised environment especially in a place where blacks will stand out! Oman is damn too small to think of doing that. Don't doubt that some of the Indians/Phillipinos may be illegals but they are left doing house maid work. |
Not sure the info you wanted. Oman is a small country with about 5m population with close to half of that as immigrants (Indians, Philippinos etc). The southern part do have long history of relationship with Africa (Zanzibar). Most of them still have homes there and still go home for vacation. Oman is like a desert land with just about 2 major cities. Muscat and Salala are the popular ones. You will be lucky to have rainfall twice a year in Muscat. Not that much to do in Muscat apart from going to Ruwi for shopping. Most people actually go to Dubai (4hrs drive or 1hr flight from Muscat). You have a few Nigerians working in the Sultan Qaboos University and Hospital. Most are however in the Oil Industry. The Omani Rial is a strong currency. Oman is not a place to hustle because as a black man you stand out. BTW, Oman can be VERY HOT even though Muscat is by the coast lol So what other info do you need? |
oyibomoses:While there us the general discrimination against blacks, there is also the specific detest for Nigerians. Even fellow blacks dont like us. It has nothing to do with the color of our skin but more to do with our reputation based on our actions. The general feeling is that Nigerians cannot be trusted, they are into crime etc. This is not because we are blacks but because we are Nigerians and our reputation goes ahead of us everywhere. Other blacks are treated BETTER than we are. The only area where people have a semblance of respect for us is in football and to some extent Music and Nollywood. Those are the only occasion that you will likely hear something good said about Nigeria and Nigerians. You can't blame the people because they are reacting based on their experience. Yes there is stereotyping but can you fault them?? |
dell_net:I wont call Malaysia 'racist' but the society is organised along racial lines. In their official document, they all indicate their races. This is partly because depend on your race you may be entitle to some privileges. For example, the Bumiputra's get to buy houses at 10% discount. Race in this case is used in the same way we use 'tribe' or 'ethnic' nationality in Nigeria. Malaysia is not a perfect society but the actions of Nigerians there is not helping our image at all. Mind you this is not limited to Malaysia alone. I wonder which country is it that Nigerians are held in high esteem. Not even in Nigeria!!!! |
kevoh:The sins of MOST Nigerians are being visited on FEW innocent ones. That is the sad reality. Ask yourself why someone from Nigerian (English speaking country) will go to Malaysia (non English speaking country) to go and study English in a language school lol! The things Nigeria do are better imagined than said. Really sad. |
iice:Yes most fled from Singapore. Actually met a guy (married to a Singaporean) who used to do yahoo yahoo. Though married to a Singaporean, he is not entitled to a resident permit. So he live in Malaysia while his wife and kids are based in Singapore (the kids are entitled to free education in Singapore). He said he stopped doing yahoo yahoo the day his son asked him what he does for a living. Apparently, the kids were asked in school to ask about the occupation of their parents. That was the turning point for him. Now he stays in Nilai but have a shop in Cheras selling African clothes (that was his story). I wonder how many people are like him but still into crime. |
imperiouxx:There is nothing bad about Malaysia. You have a lot of Koreans, Japanese, Aussies, Americans and British settling in the place. So what really is bad about Malaysia? BTW, as at 2008, you dont need a visa as a Nigerian to visit Singapore. Now, getting a Singaporean visa is like passing through the eye of he needle. Among many reasons was the involvement of Nigerians in drug and other vices. This was compounded by the case of a Nigerian who murdered someone. Now they have flushed almost all Nigerians out! Even those married to Singaporeans are not finding it easy. We as a people need to change our ways!!!!! |
Well, the actions of some (most) Nigerians has made Malaysians to view Nigerians in a bad light. Most of the Nigerians claim to be students but not doing any real schooling. Most are into crime or other vice. Yahoo yahoo and prostitution are the main one. Difficult to find Nigerians with any form of employment. Yet they go to clubs and spend money, ride cars etc. Everyone has got to see that most Nigerians are in to crime and treat them as such. Imagine Nigerians entering Taxis and refusing to pay the correct fare. Now taxi drivers even refuse to carry them now. Dont even talk about the black money issue. Cant think of any country where Nigerians are liked. We need to look at ourselves and change our attitude. There was the case of a Nigerian who went to a church and told a Malaysian woman that he is expecting his parents to send him money but does not have an account. The Malaysian woman thinking of helping gave him her account number. Once the money was paid, she gave the money to boy and that was the last time the boy came to church. Weeks later the woman was arrested by the police. Apparently her account was used to collect yahoo money that she new nothing about. How do you think such a woman will look at Nigerians? As a people, we lack integrity and character. Why should the agent lie to you? |
Nigerians are loud and that is the major problem. And we believe that money is the ultimate. Learnt most Nigerians are rushing to the embassy to claim that there passport is missing so that they can collect emergency travel certificate to travel home before things will get out of hand. Chuks for the embassy seems to be in the know of what is going on. Anyway, yet to see any unusual movement for Mont Kiara. |
chamber2:There are good quality schools in Malaysia. There are schools awarding UK and Australian degrees in Malaysia. Their fees are far cheaper than what you will pay in UK or Australia. Only problem is that you cannot work while schooling nor is there any work for you when you graduate. Difficult to think of doing odd jobs because you stand out! However, there are efforts to allow students to do some jobs. A minute number are working already. Generally though, the fact is NO WORK. Quality of life in Malaysia is good. Relatively things are cheap but pay in Malaysia is POOR! For Nigerians that love 'show off' Malaysia is not the place to be. Unfortunately, many are here already and most are into crimes! |
macmoyor:Thought the thread was about sharing PERSONAL experience? Never said that was the experience of everyone. My previous posts will attest to that. |
macmoyor:Not sure what is ambiguous or strange in my posts. Yes I am an Engineer working in the oil and gas industry. Yard in JB is a fabrication/integration yard. Precisely MMHE yard. Design office is in KL Company registered office is in KK (for Sabah State) and Miri (for Sarawak State) Labuan is the logistics and supply base. Clear now. |
bolshoiboo:Lagos, Nigeria is similar to Amsterdam, Holland OR Amsterdam, Netherlands whichever you prefer. |
dell_net:You better share this background before you mislead people. Of course foreigners work in Malaysia. We do have a couple of Nigerians working in Malaysia. Most are those headhunted and with Work Permit waiting for them on arrival in Malaysia. They did not come to Malaysia to hustle. So IF you are coming to Malaysia to hustle and expect to find a job it is a NO NO NO! |

Affiliation? They are UK/US/Australian schools! Not affiliation!
