That's an embarrassing revelation. But instead of paying half she should have prevailed on the father (or family) to reduce it to an affordable amount.
Cultures are different though. But bride price is mainly symbolic. No matter how much is paid, it can never be enough to take a human being home. Many Yoruba fathers in Nigeria return the money tagged "bride price" back to the groom's family, saying they're not selling their daughter - they collect all the other gifts (and cash) anyway.

Innocent blood cries against this country, for failing them. Leaders shed blood and you see millions of followers still supporting and defending those leaders. So everyone becomes guilty, because it is the followers who give the leaders the mandate/power to kill.

What do you mean to not lock the steering wheel though.

Normally, when you turn the ignition key all the way off, your steering will lock up at a small angle and you can't turn it, right?
In this kinda emergency you need your steering to be fully usable to maneuver. So make sure you don't turn the key back to the last.

YES.
I've tried it a lot of times at different speeds and selected gears just to see what happens.

If you turn the key back into ON position without cranking, with a gear still engaged, the engine will start itself back.

Driving a manual will make you aware of these kind of things, especially when you just start to drive it.

Neutral disengages the engine which drops the speed unless you are rolling down a slope.
But I'm not expert anyway, just what I learnt on YouTube and the likes. 😁

On a level ground every gear has an ideal engine rev speed, usually close to your idle engine rev. If you gas down on that gear and release the throttle, the engine will force itself back to that rotational idle speed. So if you're moving, each time you release the gas without matching the brakes, your car will slow down due to engine resistance. It's called engine braking. But if you put it in neutral, the car will keep rolling until gravity prevails on it.
When you switch off your engine normally, it forces itself to stop rotating, so if any of the gears are engaged, the engine will eventually force the car to stop, even if it was going down a slope. The lower the engaged gear, the quicker the car will stop.
There's some physics behind it. Manual drivers will relate more.

So if everything else fails and you can't stop the car, switch off the engine. Power steering will become very heavy but your adrenaline rush will give you strength. Beware not to lock your steering wheel with the ignition key.
