FoodRe: Will You Buy A Small Bottle Of Water 2k? by Yadid(m): 5:49pm On Jan 29, 2023
I wonder why some people are quick to think you have a poverty mentality if you are not being wasteful and flamboyant with money.

I'm a staunch believer in value for money. How does the value of a bottle water correspond to the price (2k) when we are not in the Sahara desert where water is scarce?

Even a plate of chicken and chips for 10k is suspect, but I'll give that a benefit of doubt.

To each his own!
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi: Subsidy Must Go, I Will Remove It by Yadid(m): 7:12am On Jan 09, 2023
Racoon:
Subsidy gulps N150 billion every month.” N150 billion is still less than the N200 billion monthly transport bonus bill the regime will pay to 400 million Nigerians. In other words, Nigeria will spend more money on transport bonus to an amorphous, unidentifiable, and probably cooked-up 40 million poor Nigerians than the subsidies it says it pays on petroleum subsidies, which it says are too expensive to be sustainable. That makes absolutely no sense.

The last time the Buhari regime increased fuel prices last year, it said it had completely done away with fuel subsidies and had left the price of petrol to the vagaries of demand and supply. Now, the regime’s honchos say again that the subsidy they said they’d completely removed, for which there was no allocation in the 2021 budget, must be removed again! ....."

https://gazettengr.com/farooq-kperogi-same-old-cruel-lies-to-justify-fuel-price-hike/
Thank you for hitting the nail on the head. Most folks just jump on the bandwagon of 'subsidy must go ' without paying attention to how dishonest these people are. From 'there's nothing like subsidy' to 'subsidy has been removed' and now to 'we are going to remove subsidy'. Hmmmmnnn

PoliticsRe: Fuel Scarcity: Depots Dry Up, Nigerians Face Bleak Christmas by Yadid(m): 12:46pm On Dec 22, 2022
Kobonaire234:
Here is the problem

1.NNPC is bringing in fuel above N510 and selling it at N148 to depot as at this month...that is no longer sustainable.

2.From the article above, some indepdendent depots are buying from major marketers...at high prices...which means that they have to sell at a loss to keep to NNPC price of N179

3.Diesel costs are impuigning on overall fuel costs.

At the end, subsidy has to go to bring an end to the crisis.

I know, Nigerians will suffer. I wish it was not so, and to all those who insult me about my support for fuel subsidy removal....I have heard, I have considered it, and God knows that if there was a way to keep petrol at even N20 per liter for the sake of the poor and needy, I would take it.

But we cannot import fuel at N500 AND ABOVE , and sell it at N179, and expect miracles.

Even if we refine at home, we cannot refine fuel below N200 per liter. Before transport self.

You can insult me, you can abuse me, you can call me names, but if you won't sell at a loss....you cannot expect the petrol industry to sell at a loss...because you will encourage them to do sharp practices...which is what is happening.

It is wishful economics to import fuel at N510 and sell it at N148 and pay subsidy, that would have been used to pay for refineries , new and old...to cover the losses...while the cost of production goes up

The DSS move was lipstick on a pig. Lipstick on a pig won't turn it into Miss World...it will still be a pig. At the end, people were not moving product out because they could not afford to do so at a loss. DSS should have stuck to security. Economics is not their forte.

Either we pay the market price of fuel at the pump...like they do elsewhere...or we pay it at the IMF HQ, with them dictating the terms.

GEJ, in a way, was right in 2012. As was NOI and SLS.

Good morning.

Anyone quoting me to abuse should remember....NNPC brings in fuel at N510 as at November and sells it at N180 now. In June last year it was N261, in 2011 it was N99 and sell it at N65.

Also remember that we have been doing the same thing for several years....decades

Then a lot of things will make sense.

Thanks for playing.

Modified

HERE IS THE SOURCE OF THE N510 landing cost..
Salient points you made here, but don't forget that the NNPCL and the government are both very dishonest. Reports are rife about how they inflate the figures of the actual amount of imported prtroleum products so they can steal more money. You are likely to say that that loophole will be plugged through the removal of subsidy, but how do you expect the citizenry to trust these dishonest folks? What is the assurance that the money realised from scrapping subsidy will not be looted through other means? Do we still not have these dishonest and corrupt people in charge? Have we considered that with the removal of subsidy, there might still be other means of looting the country in the same oil sector?

I submit to you that corruption and dishonesty is the major problem here. My head supports the removal of subsidy but my heart tells me that these folks cannot be trusted one bit. They are full of lies and deceits.

PS: Any government that will remove subsidy should reverse all the tax increments that Buhari has carried out, open the borders (in the real sense of it, not on the pages of newspapers) and lift the embargo on essential commodities.
PoliticsRe: 2023: Peter Obi Vows To Dismantle Political Structure That Impoverished Nigeria by Yadid(m): 12:15pm On Dec 20, 2022
This statement should not have been uttered, in my opinion. If you go to battle exposing all your strategies to your enemies, then you're highly unlikely to win. He should borrow a leaf from MKO's blunders in 1993. He went about his campaign saying that he will even make those who colonised Nigeria pay reparations for the colonisation. How did it end?

Propaganda! Dead on arrival. Any sane person would download the picture and zoom in on it.

1. No inscription of Labour Party on it.
2. The image on it is off the LP logo (check well)
3. There is no image or inscription of Obi/Datti on any of the bags
4. Just below the Forward Ever there is an inscription in Hausa Language.

There are lots of things wrong on the bags. Albeit, we live in an internet age where people are more willing to go for sensationalism than being critical. How can a mere logo with "forward ever" automatically means Obi or Labour Party? There is no mention of the candidate's name there. I'm sure Obi is not the only candidate of the LP. Lies and deceits in those pictures.

PoliticsRe: You May Lose In 2023, Wike Tells Atiku by Yadid(m): 8:17pm On Aug 12, 2022
In spite of his rants, there are salient points in what he is telling of Atiku concerning the election. If all those SS and SE governors did not deliver their states for him in 2019 and only Wike did, then he has pitched his tent with the wrong lots. Anyways, good for him. We don't even want him.

Their internal wranglings are good for other better candidates. Wish the broom party will have the same issue, but let's see.

HealthRe: Help, I Have Painful Mouth Sores(graphic Pictures) by Yadid(m): 4:47pm On Jun 27, 2022
This is canker sores (mouth ulcer). If occurrence is frequent, your toothpaste is the most likely culprit as I discovered in my own case.

Don't be deceived into fear by those shouting vitamin deficiency and STIs. I used to have multiples like these. I changed my toothpaste and problem was solved.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate one of the ingredients of toothpastes is the major cause if your toothpaste is the problem.

Since SLS is common in most toothpastes in Nigeria (I couldn't find one without it, you might be lucky though), just change your toothpaste on the basis of texture. If you are using gel toothpastes (like the normal closeup) you might want to change to something not gel in nature (like close-up herbal).

My two cents though, try to see a professional if possible.

Regards!

The way people just drop building materials on the road is not condemned enough. I was still passing on a road in an estate about three to four days ago and there were some granites and stones dumped on the road occupying half of it. They have been there for over a year now, not removed. Interestingly, the exact spot happened to be a sharp bend on the road.

People dying avoidable deaths in this country. Shame!

Irrespective of which version of Wike it is, do you see Southern youths throwing their weight behind their ticket like they did because of Obi?

Can you compare what is in the head of the two men?

Where in the south do you think Wike can win right now?
Time will surely make it all clearer.
PoliticsRe: APC Presidential Aspirants’ Fails To Produce Consensus Candidate After Meeting by Yadid(m): 11:36am On Jun 05, 2022
Penguin2:
Lol.

I see Wike working against Atiku except he’s made the running mate which is highly unlikely.

You can’t pair two powerful men like that. Plus the ticket will be highly unpopular.

Nigerians will see them as two crooks.
Well, it depends on the version of Wike that we are having now. If it is the Wike that stayed loyal to the party even when others defected, then no problem, but if it is the Wike that is bitter due to his loss at the primary, then there's fire on the mountain. Loyal Wike or bitter Wike, Atiku's fate is hanging between the two.
PoliticsRe: APC Presidential Aspirants’ Fails To Produce Consensus Candidate After Meeting by Yadid(m): 6:53am On Jun 05, 2022
Penguin2:
I think Atiku is really not destined to rule Nigeria.

Because with the entire northern governors and critical northern stakeholders in APC, agreeing to zone the presidency to the south, they are going to campaign with that to their people and influence their votes to a great extent.

Now, if at the end, Osinbajo gets the ticket, like it’s looking like, then that’s the entire Southwest votes and considerable votes from other southern regions too since Osinbajo is an inspiring candidate.

PDP swam against the tide.

And what seemed to be a strategic masterstroke about a week ago, now looks like a grave mistake.

Take it from me that Atiku will not be president especially if Osinbajo gets the ticket.
I subscribe to your view. I said the same to some folks yesterday. If it turns out this way though, then Wike will have the last laugh in PDP.

The way BAT talks these days, something is definitely amiss. It was in that Ogun state that he talked about how he made PMB and PYO president and vice president, he also mentioned how he made Dapo Abiodun the governor. I have no problem with him stating the facts, but anyone that has seen the video and seen the way he went about stating those facts will definitely know that something is likely not right.

So who then do we blame?

A governor who had foresight and understood we would be where we are now struggling to generate above 1000MW, or the FG who had no plan and would not let those with a plan to succeed.
We blame both of them. The FG is wrong hoarding the right to power and the state also erred by not prompting its federal lawmakers to push bills for the amendment of that law.
TravelRe: Akwa Ibom And Europe Standard Of Road Na 5&6 .. Photos by Yadid(m): 10:02am On Jun 01, 2022
Throwback:
You are obviously speaking out of ignorance.

I remember seeing roads like this during Tinubu's tenure.

He started the cobble stone roads allover Victoria Island in a road resurfacing drive, to help cater to the beach soil condition in that area. I remember Akin Adesola Str, Adeola Odeku Str, Ajose Adeogun Str as some of those touched. I remember how marveled I was at the quality of the job done while internship hunting in 2007.

On the mainland, he also revamped Oba Akran Road in Ikeja which was my daily route to school in the early 2000's, Oregun Road (Kudirat Abiola), Ijeshatedo Road in Surulere where I sat for my JAMB UME in the early 2000's also, are some of the many roads that featured in his achievements leading to re-election in 2003.

Funny you should mention Power as a priority.

Guess who tried to overdo himself to ensure there was private power generation in Lagos when others still waited on the federal government?

It was Tinubu who had that foresight and engaged Enron to come into Nigeria to develop Power generation for Lagos State, but the Obasanjo/PDP led federal government would not allow an opposition party Governor ridicule the federal government by succeeding where they had every intention to fail. So they frustrated the initiative.

Tinubu had many firsts that went beyond roads and power, but also simple governance initiatives like returning all missionary schools siezed by the 1979 to 1983 class of democratic state governments and better manage the true public schools, to initiatives and ideas about State vs Federal Government power separation.

Lagos State under Tinubu became the template to be copied by other states who needed to setup State agencies to better deliver and manage public service to the citizenry.

All the mentioned and more are the reasons why I wholly believe that Nigeria should give the city boy a chance to lead Nigeria.
But you failed to mention that power is exclusively under the jurisdiction of the FG and Tinubu would have been contravening the law if allowed. Power is on the exclusive list, that is the law. Obj upheld the law by stopping him, but you are painting Obj as an enemy of progress here.

If a state violates her own laws rapaciously, even to the advantage of her citizenry, that state is heading for anarchy. We are here now.

The world cup is not in consideration here. Balon d'Or has been modified to only cover the beginning of a season to the end of it, not a whole year any more. 2022 balon d'Or will be awarded only on the basis of the recently concluded season. The world cup will only be considered for the next year's.

So, they were only able to reduce PDP's Twitter numbers from 957k to just 954k, a paltry 3000 difference? That speaks enough volume already. One would have thought these folks are even up to a million.

Fingers crossed. I like Obi, but his supporters and their ways of doing things? Nope!
PoliticsRe: "Join SDP" - Supporters Tell Peter Obi After Dumping PDP by Yadid(m): 7:41pm On May 25, 2022
People who think Obi will just stroll into Aso Rock are just being unrealistic. As much as I love the man, I don't see him winning the election next year on the platform of any party (except as the flag bearer of APC though which will not happen).

That he has 1 to 2 million supporters on twitter does not mean that he's very popular. The large chunk of the Nigerian electorates consists of the market women, bus drivers, artisans and co on the streets. Go out there and sample the opinion of these folks and you'll realise that he's not popular with most of them.

Obi fanatics can come to attack me for this submission, but it will change nothing. It is what it is. Obi is a good man, but he doesn't have what it takes yet to win the presidency. Most of his supporters are just being naive. They'll see the truth when they start being objective and critical. If they refuse to see it now, they'll see it by February next year.

PS: People 'atikulated' more than this in 2019, we saw the outcome.
