Nigeria-The land of hypocrisy. A peaceful group waving a harmless flag is threatened with death by the police while vampires drunk on the blood of innocent people are begged to come for dialogue and appeasement. Former IGP Ringim, threatened Boko Haram later watched his tongue when he narrowly escaped death during the attack on the Force Headquaters. Does it mean that the police are averse to learning?
Why do you hate Biafra when it is clear Nigeria is not working? Pls, be honest.

Gen. Alani(rtd) has not said anything new.
Nigeria is about to pass the stage for SNC. Let him that has ears hear what awaits this unholy contraption. The unnecessary innocent blood spilt for 'one nigeria is too much'. Those who are fighting tooth and nail to maintain the status quo should know that freedom is unnegotiable... When the time comes like Xerxes, they would know that even the god-king bleeds.
The wise one said that 'high fences and deep moats do not guarantee unity...doing good to the populace(justice & equity) achieves this'.
Salutation to the progressive.

@Crazyman,
Your name clearly is tangential to your person. With your post, you are on point. The first quote stated clearly that the Israelis(NOT the spiritual Israel as some say) shall someday come back to God through Jesus- by accepting Him as the Messiah. Jesus Himself said to the Jews that how He wished to gather them as the hen gathers her chicks but for their stubborness; He said they would know no peace until they say blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Anyone who knows Israel's history knows that from the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 till date, Israel has not known peace. This shows that Israel would someday come back to God.
Now regarding the second quote, the book of Mathew 'Crazyman' referenced says it all. The 'son of perdition'- Antichrist and the great tribulation would precede the second coming of Christ. Take note of the emphasis on 'those that endure to the end shall be saved'. It means they shall endure persecution against them(born agains) because of their belief in Christ as the ONLY way to God.
May God help us all.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu Killed Lt. Col. Banjo: Why? I Need to get to the root of this matter... by Yujin(m): 11:33am On Aug 19, 2012
What a hot debate! Firstly, I would strongly disagree with anyone that ascribes cowardice to the Yoruba nation. The fact that Awolowo, Diya and a host of their politicians and top men have displayed this does not amount to the name calling. Where would you place gallant men like Fajuyi, OBJ, Gani Fawehinmi, Fela, Soyinka and even Banjo among others?
Bravery and Treachery are not thesame.
If any Yoruba would be absolved of utmost wickedness surrounding the civil war and the events immediately after it, it is certainly not Awolowo. Many contributors have already mentioned the part he played. Recent exposition by Farouk and Femi Falana's reply confirmed Awolowo's personality. Have you not wondered why Igbos do not condemn Adekunle even though he was ruthless in the war front?
@Topic,
Banjo was killed because he stopped at Ore instead of marching to Lagos as was commanded by Ojukwu which gave the nigerian forces ample opportunity to counter them. And the subsequent plan to assasination attempt allegation involving him, Ifeajuna and others.
Now, lets discuss Banjo. He was a brave and courageous man to have led an army on such a lofty task. The odds against him was either marching into his territory of origin without consultation and make the mission clear when he is in position of advantage or making the consultation before venturing into the terrority with the belief that his people- the west would remain neutral by granting safe passage. As you know, he chose the latter through Soyinka to OBJ only for OBJ to inform Gowon. That mission was a great loss to Biafra as many calculations of the Biafrans was hinged on it.
The Igbos certainly do not hate the Yorubas; all they need is understanding and fairness from the Yorubas.
People like Dayokanu and others that mention the slaughter of innocent women and children in their millions without conscience should know that history is about to repeat itself but this time around a bit differently. Peace to all the progressives.
Those who still see a future for this present nigeria should better wake up and face reality.

maasoap: I believe those Muslims were caught unaware last year. The warning actually came from the Berom guys last year and not from the police. Because of that, Muslims didn't take the warning seriously and they were slaughtered like rams (women, children and harmless men:over 200). If they decide to go to the place this year not minding the police warning (which I don't encourage but not oppose either), they won't be caught unaware this time around. Attacking them will be like a suicide mission. Believe me, there will be group of Muslims who will be there, not to pray but to look out for any possible attack.
You lied. The security as well as the indigenes told the muslims not to venture near the field but your stubborn brothers- the Izallas refused. The police went on air to announce it but it fell on deaf ears. Finally, they got what they deserved. Do women follow the men to the eid ground? You lied again. Your men were armed of course since the wanted to default.
Lol, the last time, it was the army that evacuated the survivors. This time around there won't be survivors. Tell your brothers.
How rational is it for a group of people to leave large expanse of empty lands in their territory and insist in worshipping in just one within their opponents terrority even when their opponents have announced their disapproval? Is it not trouble they seek?

Series22: my guy, i'm igbo and a christian(Anglican) but your analysis about d biafran war is misleading.. D war has got nothn 2 do wit religion. I knw u r happy dat d mosque is bin demolished, evn my parents r celebrating d demolition too. My arguement is dat, u should stoping distorting history. Take ur story to beer parlours.. We know better
My friend, you know little. You fell for the bait if you thought the war was not with religious undertone. Let me lecture you. Sardauna Ahmadu Bello was the ruler of Nigeria(forget Balewa, he was just a figure head). His ideology of nigeria is that it becomes a country modelled after the Islamic caliphate with the hausa/fulani lording it over others. That was the major reason why he was taken out. Gowon(a christian) was made the leader of the 'counter' coup by the muslim politicians so as to garner support from the northern christians which of course paid off as they readily joined the army during the war that ensued and were abtly used as cannon fodders just as Sardauna had desired. Didn't you notice that Gowon was kicked out of office by a junior muslim soldier called Murtala Mohammed. That was when the northern christians understood that they were used to further a religious war. Bukar Sukar Dimka a christian then struck back eliminating Murtala. The greatest blow to the hausa/fulani religious expansionism was the demise of Sir Ahmadu Bello. He was the brain box, think-tank and master strategist who held a position no northerner can hold again. Notice that Murtala shifted the capital to Abuja; IBB unilaterally registered nigeria as a member of OIC and Abacha was about to complete the deal before he kicked the bucket or was it 'ate the apple'.
The same thing that plauged us those days is presently plauging us- Islamic banking introduced by all means etc. However, this time around the result will be different.
My friend, do more research.

Politics › Re: Northern Youths Warn Asari Dokubo And Edwin Clark by Yujin(m): 10:35pm On Aug 08, 2012
I have always known its gonna be in my time. At last, the southerners are getting a clearer picture of who those core northerners are. The reason why they never want a 'pure' southerner at the helm of affairs is to keep the southerners from determining their future(what Sir Ahmadu Bello told them). OBJ was never a 'southern' president- he was guided by the north to avoid those areas that would affect their interest. He obeyed except that he was smarter; that is why I respect him(though he isn't my fan).
Presently, the core north have decided to run the gauntlet, either they win all(strike fear and dominate all of people in nigeria) or lose all(lose the impending war). They don't want a country running on equity and freedom: if they want why don't they also clamour for SNC? The AYC spokesman said the (core) northerners are for peace; how comes the hausa/fulani muslims have slaughtered thousands of middlebelters for some decades now? Because they have found out that the middlebelters have refused to be used as cannon fodders anymore(reason for Dimka & Orkar's coup) and as such should be disposed off. How comes the middlebelters especially those from Benue/Plateau(they formed the bulk of nigerian soldiers during the civil war) have been systematically reduced in the army? If you are for peace why not clamour for SNC? Anyway, their hearts have been blocked so that they will recieve the punishment they deserve. 'You don't run from war because you might be shot to death in it'. If you want to live forever, be ready to die for freedom and equity(Yujin). We are getting excited.

la furia: As a northerner, yes we have big educational problem because the govt has refused to invest in pry and secondary education. Large number of youth and children go to school, u just need to see them in the morning others simply dont (almajiris), others drop out because of financial prblms or lack of intrest. U cant tell me that northerners dont go to sch(some think we dont at all) . Statisticaly, the number of gradute from the univesity to non gradute is not impresive.
We have more southern graduate than north but their pry and secondary edu is no better than ours.
The north isnt backward because of academic standard, but because of lack of infastructures. When the eldest in a family is a graduate wt no job, why should the father send the younger ones.
Respect for admitting the truth. The north has future if there are many more of your type.
Although the OP's observation is not sufficient to use in measuring the north as a backward region academically, it is a pointer to serious educational inadequacy.
FACT: The north is academically backward however, the degree of backwardness differ from state to state with the core north being the worst hit. It is not unconnected with the insatiable greed of their leaders who always prefer keeping the majority of their people in perpetual illiteracy so as not to be questioned/challenged.
However, academia have fallen far below the standard level across all the regions. Only one factor remains- the importance individuals attach to western literacy which is dependant on the exposure inherent in those regions.

Jason123 = Alj harem guy you have a talent, lol.
As beautiful as this project sounds it cannot stand for now because the brains behind it(SW) bore ulterior motive targetted against the SE. Alj harem and Kodewrita have spilt the beans in page 2 of this thread; that is why it will not succeed.
Many points have been raised as concerning the viability/accessability of the seaports in SS and it is clear that govt has not done enough to ensure that the berthing and clearing of ships/containers here are cheaper so as to encourage importers use them. This if done will automatically reduce the pressure on Lagos, open up SS/SE states and avert potential massive flooding disasters in Lagos due to the present sandfilling going on there that the ocean will SURELY reclaim someday of course with everything in its path.
If politics is solely about subduing your perceived enemy(which of course is not), then I salute the proposers of this project as they did their homework well. This serves to call the SE governors and economic think-tanks to have a wholistic approach to the economic future of the region and the surrounding states. Peace to all the progressives.
Politics › Re: Multiple Bomb Blast In Sokoto by Yujin(m): 9:13pm On Jul 30, 2012
Good question. Here's your answer:

Boko haram are sponsored by politicians. They are tools for causing mayhem, inciting violence & settling political & probably even personal scores *check: the funny unexplainable murders lately*

Isn't this becoming clear enough with succesive atttackshuh

Attacking in the holy month of ramadan alone is enough proof that this guys are not muslims, or if they are, they have absolutely no idea of what islam is.

This ramadan alone, a lot of lectures on boko haram, terrorism and islam are being organised by several islamic gatherings and as far as i can tell, among the many unifying points is this: ISLAM DOES NOT CONDONE OR ENDORSE TERRORISM. Its that simple. Jihad means struggle in the path of Allah, & the BEST FORM of Jihad is the internal struggle within your soul against sins. This is closely followed by charity, helping the needy, e.t.c.

I tell you, to the best of my islamic knowledge, the closest people to the muslims are CHRISTIANS, yes, CHRISTIANS, so much so that Allah even permits muslims to marry the ''chaste ones'' among the xtian females, if they give their consent.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad has been describes as having the best of character, infact, it was his good nature and disposition towards non muslims that drew SEVERAL of them into Islam, and Allah has consistently said that it is your good deeds that will take you to paradise, including your salat, your charity & your belief in Allah.

Go to any mosque, when the name of Prophet Eesa (same as JESUS CHRIST) is mentioned, we MUST put ''PEACE BE UPON HIM'' after it. Is it possible that we are now commanded to kill the followers of this man we so much hold in high esteemhuh??

My people, please please and please, shine your eyes, bokoharam is a tool to cause division in the land, and InshaAllah, they will fail. Some peeps are saying Nigeria should split, do they think that the south will PHYSICALLY break from the north on the map? as in will the north ''shift'' upwards on the maphuh, Or a journey to a northern state which takes 10 hours will now become 24hourshuh or dyu think the south will stop bringing meat and pepper from the north to feed youhuh
GET THIS INTO YOUR HEADS, splitting Nigeria WILL not stop bokoharam from bombing Lagos if they feel like (God forbid), and neither will it stop kidnapppers from operating in the south, and be rest assured our biggest problem which is corruption will increase. I've not mentioned the attendant loss of lives that will take place. Maybe you should ask those who suffered losses in the 1967-70 civil war if they wish to go through same again.
Back to the issue, the bokoharam insurgency has gone too far, and i'm 100percent certain that muslims were killed in this attack, but even if they were pagans, as in people who curse Allah everyday, but didnt lay hands to attack the bombers, as in if this was an unprovoked attack (which it obviously was), then my people, ACCORDING TO ISLAMIC TENETS, those SUCIDE BOMBERS are on their way to HELL. *Frankly, I think those sucide bombers are usually drugged before bombs are strapped on them* If the fight was really about ''72 virgins'', or ''rewards in paradise'', Shekau & Abu Qaqa for don go blow themselves tey tey. That's just the truth.

& a poster said that ''now the Sultan can wake up to his reponsibilities'' huh What responsibilities? Na Sultan be Commander in chief? Was it the Sultan that swore to protect the lives & properties of Nigerians?? Open ur eyes abeg.

This weekend at a ramadan lecture i attended (on this same bh issue), the Imam said that part of the signs of the end time are that people will be twisting the scriptures for their own selfish and worldly gains. I think this iis happening now, BOTH in Islam AND christianity.

My xtian & muslim brothers, let us be ONE, God created us in diff religions so there can be UNITY in our diversity.

Peace.
There is nothing in common between light and darkness. The Bible admonishes the christians not to marry unbelievers(whomsoever does not believe that Jesus is the son of God and the saviour of the world). For no man is saved by his good works but is rather saved by the precious blood of Jesus. There is no iota of similarity between Christianity and Islam.
@topic,
The present carnage in the north is nothing compared to what is coming to it. Blood for blood is a universal law. The innocent blood they have been shedding since 1945 is calling for atonement. Nothing can stop it until they have received their reward in full. No justice no peace.
Christianity Etc › Re: Bishop Oyedepo To Muslim Sister : “Convert To Christianity Or Die Poor,” by Yujin(m):
Being a Muslim does not in any way make you rich. You can be rich or poor what is important is the fear of Allah and accept the condition you‘re in. God said in the Qur'an 2:155 And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, from the above verse we belief that God is going to test us whether you’re rich or poor. As a Muslim it’s an article of faith to belief in destiny good or bad and we know that this worldly life is temporal therefore it is better to suffer in a temporary world than suffering in the hereafter i.e permanent abode.
Christianity is all about prosperity that’s worldly thing. that is the only thing your pastors talk about (I don’t want to say preach because that’s not preaching we all knw) for example....
You’ll get a job
You’ll get a promotion
You’ll get a husband
You’ll give birth
You’ll become rich
You’ll pass you exams
You‘ll be successful.... and so on and so forth...all about getting wht you want in this world.

If you remove prosperity from pastor’s mouth, I’m 100% sure no pastor will be able to preach or say anything in the church.......observe. They are afraid that if they start preaching about fornication, adultery, stealing, drinking of Alcohol, gambling, 419, immoral dressing they will not get customers again coz they are making money out of ignorant followers.
Read the bible 4rm Geneses to Revelation you’ll be surprise with some verses and I’m sure you ‘ll start searching for the truth. Do that b4 is too late.
The word of God(the Bible) is the word of life. For the mere fact that many present day fake pastors have derailed by abandoning the ancient path for materialism and wordly eulogies does not render the ONLY Way(Jesus) through which one can get to God, see John14vs6 null. These things happening are fulfilment and a testament to the infallible nature of the word of God. The word of God says that in the last days, many shall be lovers of money, pleasure, themselves and their love for him(Jesus) shall grow cold. Our Lord Jesus clearly states that only those who endure till the end without following the world things shall be giving the crown of life. Every christian know this except that many have been carried away by the things of this world. That is why God's judgement shall be just because all things that pertains to life and godliness have been revealed to the world through Jesus as is written in the Bible.
@Topic,
If the story presented here is exactly as it happened, then the MOG missed it. There is no coercion in truth(religion). Typical of christianity is to convert people through love and sacrifice(not necessarily materially) which was summed up in John3vs16.
Ask God to reveal the truth to you before you study the Bible and your life will never remain thesame.

Igbo muslims do exist but are of insignificant number just like the Hausa and Fulani christians(not hausa/fulani).
@Topic
The beautification/town planning project is not done with sentiments as we all have witnessed demolition of all sorts of structures in Abuja and Lagos among other states. The protest CANNOT stop the Anambra state govt. just like it didn't stop other state govt. under similar circumstance. However, Anambra state govt should provide another land that is if they(muslims) actually owned the land upon which the present one stands. If that is not the case, then they should purchase another land in a more secured place.
There is no case here.

At the height of negligence
Or as the taste buds rise
Points are drawn to the table
Whether or not they be negotiable
Else, they will strike
It is not a new thing
It is another song they must sing
Even if the shoots will die
No one cares a hoot for our cry
For they must strike
No more shall the chalk grow shorter
As the pen ceases to flow further
Lectures are ground to a still
This has been their last skill
Alas! It is a strike ASUU, NASU, SSANU and the FG
Reel out the dosage to us- refugees
For days, weeks or even months
Until we are scourged with burns
Never mind, just a strike
To the finalists, what a delay
To the freshers, what a decay
To the FG, what a relay
To the proposers, you must obey
Else, they strike

This is what i know mainly about Muslims around me there views of BH.They believe they are held to ransom by a group and suspect is political and probably the making of some southern xtians to cause rancor amongst Muslims, destroy there community by making it less attractive and to portray Muslims in bad light. This are the most popular views.More reason you see them emphasis on other suspected xtian terrorist captured.Alot of Muslims still doubt its religious attachment to them and see it largely as a political play amongst political elements amongst the different divides. So your information by Northern xtians who are not in best of terms with Muslims is just asking the wrong persons.
I am yet to meet a supporter or sympathizer of BH in my entire Muslim company and neighbors. What i know is like alot of them are scared that anyone amongst them can be a member and they need to watch what they would say in the open about them.To avoid being a victim. Also where i suspect or communities suspect could be BH haven, government knows and they hardly would do anything but even show the community by there actions that this folks are above the law.People don't want to report anything especially since the security would not and can't even save themselves when they come for anyone.Alot would rather keep mute and manage there lifes jeje.
The view that persons volunteered information on MEND is a big lie.The communities harbor and even contributed to the cause. As Dokubo clearly stated over there arming. It is very different in the North. This BH do not have any strong support from the Muslim communities and What seems as a support is a people keeping quiet to see another day.Not financing and not endorsement So it is despicable when some ignorant few come here talking trash out of sentiments.Lastly am not surprise that the SSS folk talking is Igbo. While the army is commending residents of in kano aiding with information. This one in Abuja eating friend chicken is spewing things wrongly.
Its so funny that you discredited the comments of northern christians who you termed 'wrong persons' in that context. Who knows the northern muslims and their capabilities better than the northern christians who have lived with them for centuries?
See how fast you designated the SSS chief an Igboman! What have these people done to you? Besides, Mr. Okojie is not Igbo. Does it matter if he is?
You accuse the christian clerics of 'insisting' the laity votes for their even when he is incompetent. Where were you when Abiola won the election on a muslim/muslim ticket? Can a christian/christian ticket win in nigeria without war? What a bigot!
The SSS guy is 100% right.

@Topic, ANY RANCH TO BE CREATED BY THEIR STATE GOVERNORS SHOULD BE LOCATED IN THE CORE NORTH. Must the federal govt. be involved in anything that concerns the core north?
I can never be surprised by what these core northerners come up with. I have always said it that their plan is still on course. Who in his right frame of mind can come up with such proposal if not these people? They have no regard for your welfare, even if it means others should die. Was it not namfav who said all farmers in nigeria should fence their farmlands if they want to avoid the fulanis' cattles?
FACT: The hausa/fulani major plan is to overrun nigeria and islamize it. Their strategy is grand. They already have a strong hold in the army which they plan to use at the appropriate time. They want to have a grip on the economy through Aliko and Sanusi(Islamic/Jaiz banking); it sounds unrealistic but true. If left unchecked, we would wake up to see it staring us in the face. The recent upsurge in herdsmen/farmers' clash is because fulanis from neighbouring countries have been invited to contribute to the forceful establishment of the dreamt estate of their father-The Sardaunan Sokoto- Ahmadu Bello. If it succeeds, it will be the greatest conquest of an african group of the millenium. They know that time is not on their side that is why they prosposed this bill targeted at stationing armed men(fulani herdsmen) all over the regions. The fight is a must(remember buhari's dogs & baboons soaked in blood) and they know the south & mb will never agree but typical of them, they will always try. Mind you, they will still come up with things that will seek to pitch other regions against themselves like they did in benue/enugu border; expect more.
Summarily, since the south have decided to be on the defensive, arm yourselves and remain vigilant for the evil day is near. FG cannot protect you.

dayokanu: I can see a marked improvement in you so i would attempt to engage you.

I think its the govt that should take action not the citizen. Cos ok If you kill Fulanis, definitely you don't expect them to go home and not do anything

They would come back for revenge(Think to Plateau issues attack and counterattack)

Fulanis are warlike and can lose 1,000 ppl, let me ask Can Igbos for example afford to lose just 100-200 ppl as collateral damage?)

But when the govt through the army or Police take the necesary action, there wont be need for reprisal or counterattacks.

There is no bravery in fighting a mad man who has nothing to lose. Its the Igbos, beroms, yorubas etc who want peace in their land, Fulanis are ok with chaos and weekly bloodshed

Think about it
Dayokanu, some people are not known for cowardice. Heavily armed youths can pursue any aggressor in the forests of the SE. The Berom elders were foolish for not arming their youths. Fulanis have made a name for themselves and so the Igbos.
Alas! Its few minutes before midnight. We can barely wait. @namfav, how is the sky tonight in Katsina?

Namfav & Rabzy01's comments reflect the mindset of the average hausa/fulani. They don't care if you are harmed, all they care for is to have their way. We all saw how their leaders responded when the army requested for simple evacuation from some villages to enable the army dislodge those terrorists.
The SE is a wrong place for the fulani herdsmen to be insensitive. Any animal feeding on a farmer's crops(means of livelihood) is seen as a bush meat and is treated as such.
...why wld you take those two as an example, this is an entirely different situatn, but even at it, if the non yorubas commit genocide against the indigenes of Lagos, resulting to the death of about 10,000 yorubas over the yrs as the case of the Beroms, then what stops the government frm sending such a tribe parking!...how wicked can a people be,i mean the Hausa Fulanis,in the name of expansion and Jihad, all the minority tribes in the Northern region are at best,at the blink of exstinction because of the Hausa Fulani aggressive nature. Why is it nt so in the south?why are minorities in the south living equally peaceful with the majority tribes?why are the Fulanis always fighting the christain minority tribes of Plateau,Kaduna,Benue,Taraba,Bauchi(Tafawa Balewa people),Adamawa and even in some parts of Nasarawa? Why is it that the Hausa Fulanis can hardly live in peace with their host communities,we ve had little crisis of recent in places like Ibadan,Lagos,Calabar and other places involving this same Hausa Fulanis. The problem in Nigerian is that this aggressors finds a way of using some media Houses both local and foriegn to carryout devilish propaganda...the article never mentioned the thousands of Beroms massacred,of course they are infidels and it doesnt matter when they are killed and their only sin is that they Harboured the Fulanis in their communities and now the Fulanis wish to occupy the land as theirs and tomorrow they will tell you the own the land!THIS WICKEDNESS MUST STOP!they shld go back to where ever the came from,be it sokoto, zamfara, maidugari, kastina, chad, niger, somalia, mali let them leave,no body wants a blood sucker around him!
May God bless you for this comment. This is the first time I will be getting annoyed reading some peoples comments. How quick do ppl forget the thousands of innocent women and children slaughtered by these fulanis!
This action by the army is a welcome idea. The fulanis know where they came from, let them go back there. But I think the army will bow to pressures from certain quarters thereby postponing the evil day. FTTB(For The Time Being), arm yourselves before the day.
Politics › Re: Promote Hausa Great Culture To Forge Peace by Yujin(m): 7:05pm On Jul 13, 2012
The OP spoilt everything when he said the South 'MUST' promote the hausa culture as a condition for peace to reign. Is it others who are still struggling to sustain their culture that will promote theirs for them?
FACT: Hausa ppl are a peaceful, hospitable and non-violent set of people before the advent of the pugnacious Fulanis. They lived in peace with the northern minority tribes in those days such that the Jukuns could even fight up to present day Kano during the Kwararafa era. Problem actually started with the advent of the fulanis whose political relevance came to limelight at the beginning of the 19th century- in the days of Shehu Uthman Ibn Hodio. The decline in hausa culture however started before then as the hausas had mostly become muslims by the arab merchants that were in Kano for trading those days. This islam practised alongside traditional hausa religion was termed an adulterated version by Uthman Danfodio who now set out to revive/enforce the pure/true islam by carrying out a jihad. This was when a new set of ppl evolved- the hausa/fulani. The hausas that concurred joined alongside mostly fulanis to prosecute the jihad. This is the new set of people we are dealing with in nigeria alongside their partners in crime- the unfortunate nupeman IBB & the Kanuris(Abacha et al). I read a book about a european who visited hausaland around the second half of the 19th century. As at then, he said it was difficult differentiating between the hausas and fulanis. Most ppl think the fulanis are all herdsmen. That is wrong. They are two kinds: the town fulanis and the nomadic fulanis. The town fulanis have always been literate(Arabic literacy) unlike the hausas and the nomadic fulanis. Uthman danfodio, his cousin Bello, Ahmadu Bello, Shagari, Bayero, Sanusi Lamido S, and many elitist fulanis do understand arabic and their native language- Fufulde. Today, the hausa language though very popular has been diluted to about 70% arabic. Their culture eroded and a people dissected to Hausa<Hausa/Fulani<Fulani in this order. The only remnant of near pure hausa is found among a hausa clan called the Maguzawas. They are at present christians and traditionalists; a very insignificant population. Where then is the hope of the hausa culture? Any proud pure hausaman should criticize this write-up and tell me I am wrong.
