Joagbaje: I don't think a man who wants to go to heaven will be lying to people to deceive them and he expect God to recieve him in heaven. Maybe heaven is not his priority for now, or maybe it was done believing it’s the right thing to do (the result of relying on adulterated info). Joagbaje: It is wrong to scare people to tithe as a manipulation, God is not cursing anybody for not tithing. You are almost there Jo. You just need to put in that extra effort to get there. Joagbaje: For me tithing has it's benefit , if you do it , you partake of it, if you don't, you miss the benefit. Every good thing has its benefit, if done with a sincere heart. Also note that there are no tithe specific benefits. |

seun222kun: The PM news correspondent didn't tell you he bought the ticket because he want to gain access to the program or that he needs more fact to make his news report more grounded? You are the smart one, abi? Why do you have difficulty responding to my post? I don’t recall discussing the purpose of the purchase with you, fo.ool. Why address my post with irrelevant commentaries? If you have a brain and know how to use it, please respond to my questions. I am not expecting much from you cos you’ve shown you have cement particles as brain cells (I initially thought it was sawdust, guess I was wrong), I don’t see how you are ever going to successfully process a piece of info. I post that bit again for you to study. Copy/ print and ensure you continue to study, maybe someday (I hope) you just might be able to interpret it. The other option is for you to take the easy route (as usual), take it to your pastor, let him read and pass the message, cos you are brain dead. Zikkyy: It’s not my business abi? The pastor was praying for the congregtion. Tonye-t: Almost every gullible christian today believes the reason to go to church is either to get God give them a car, a house, a new job. Agbaje, pls where are the messages of Love in the sermons we receive today? where are the messages of peace and forgiviness for our neighbors preached today? People won’t come to church to hear messages of peace and forgiveness. Don’t blame them, if you are desperate, what you want to hear are words of assurance/hope. If the economy was good, churches will be empty. Maybe that’s why pastors like to pray for politicians. Tonye-t: Rather what we see today are psychological and motivational teachings, someone stands on the altar and tells you

Joagbaje: The church didn't charge entry fee for service. The church announced that only few people can enter the auditorium which serves as a studio for broadcast . Several centers were created all over for free. But the main auditorium had had issues in time past with crowd . The committee made admission by seat reservation. And they made the ticket 1000 for the main auditorium but other four auditorium there didn't require tickets . Those who had no tickets went into the other halls . Please stop trying to justify the ticket issue. We are aware there were free viewing centres around, I am sure people even watched from the comfort of their sitting room for free. That’s not the issue here. People paid to watch pastor chris live (preaching the word), and that’s the issue to address. I guess that makes him a celebrity. it was a bad thing to do and you know that. There is no excuse for this act, and you did admit somewhere it was not the best approach, leave it at that. Joagbaje: It was merely a test to see if it will do the crowd control. This will fly, only if you were trying to convince a ram or goat here. Joagbaje: The issue was not about money. The event proper might not be about money, the idea of a ticket was about money. You are not helping CEC sir. Joagbaje: How much is 25 million? We could have raised a billion in a week if there is a need. 25 million might be small money to you, but it is the act that count. Joagbaje: the auditorium cost well above 3 billion I'm not aware there is an auditorium that takes 30,000 with full air condition in this nation. What exactly are you saying? That the ticket thing was an attempt to recover some of the cost of building the auditorium? I see you took this as an opportunity to brag about the standard/quality of the auditorium. You guys are something else. Joagbaje: The organisers could have done better but that's what they thought best. Stick to this line of defence. It makes more sense. Joagbaje: But it was not about raisng funds. Yes, the ticket issue was about raising fund for the church. The organisers saw it as an opportunity. You don’t need to be genius to know this. |

Like babaearly stated, these are truths. ogajim: The GO said: “There will be big celebrations in many homes/families this year,” Yes oooooh. There will always be parties in Lagos (every weekend) ogajim: For the international community, Pastor Adeboye expressed some concern, saying that serious prayers should be offered for the international scene this year against massive storms and extreme temperatures.
He said: “Pray against major disasters, especially by fire. Pray that God will speak peace to a convulsing earth. Pray against civil wars and civil unrest.” He is saying we should pray against natural disasters that are likely to occur. He is not saying it will happen (especially if we pray very hard). ogajim: There is, however, some cheery news on the international scene, as Adeboye foresees major discoveries in the automotive and aviation industry. For sure, the likes of Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford, Benz, BMW, Land Rover e.t.c will be hitting the showrooms with 2012 models this year. Some loaded with brand new techie features. Was the ticket sold prior to or on the day of the event? I am sure a lot of people willing to pay the N1,000 were not given ticket because the venue was already filled to capacity. What do you think a Taliban will be doing with an internet enabled computer in front of him? Listening to a Church sermon, with the pastor asking for donations to spread the word (as usual), or negotiating with a weapon supplier? Don’t you think he might probably be gathering intelligence relating to America troop movement? The man on the internet is searching for something, probably to reinforce an idea, a belief or to improve on knowledge earlier acquired. So you need to mke that trip to Afghanistan and introduce Christianity, you can follow up using the internet. It’s not a bad thing if you ‘lose your head’ in the process. |

Really, what would JESUS do? I think we should be more strategical in our approaches to life. The problem with our pastors these days is that they think in 'money language'. Everything is monetized including problem solving. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Pastor Chris Charges Gate Fees For Watch Night Service? by Zikkyy(m): 8:25am On Jan 06, 2011 |
Joagbaje: church has several centres all over Lagos where people were encourage to go and participate through satellite , they don't have to pay to enter those centres , even some of them are close to the main venue for people that lives arround there , so that they don't have to go too far to attend a centre ,and they are all free. The church also pay for all tv stations to broadcast it live so that people can stay at home to watch. So it's only the studio centre that was ticketed to reduce attendance there and to ensure each person has a sit without overcrowd. People were encouraged to attend the free centres or stay at home and participate by satellite. The studio broadcast is beamed world wide and it will be embarrassing to have crowd problem witnessed world wide live. A studio has to be controlled.so the idea is that everybody must not come over here. I think the idea was to raise enough cash to defray the cost of broadcasting, and probably make a little profit in the process. |

Image123: To the OP I ask again, did Jesus and the apostles have their bathe? Prove it! I thought i'd said it here before, but i'll say it again. That something wasn't 'written' in scriptures doesn't automatically mean that it didn't happen, or that it's false, or the assumption that scriptures must disagree by default. Jesus' obvious regard for the law should tell you that He FULFILLED it. You keep repeating this post. Don’t think you should go this route Image123. To assume a practice is biblical even though it was never recorded comes with some risk if accepted. One can simply adopt the same approach for other contentious practices we find in the various churches today. Nothing in the NT point to the need for believers to tithe. The apostles would easily pass as the first priest/pastors and I don’t see how you can make such inference from their activities and writings. |

mikeg: It does not say in scripture anywhere to my knowledge that 'Jesus is high priest forever after the order of the priesthood of Jesus' It is also not written anywhere in the bible that Christ priesthood is ‘under’ the priesthood of Melchizedek. This is a simple matter, really. Saying Christ priesthood is according to/after the order of Melchizedek does not imply that Christ priesthood is categorized under the Melchizedek priesthood. It simply means that Christ priesthood is similar to that of Melchizedek. What makes Christ priesthood similar to Melchizedek’s? It’s because Melchizedek’s priesthood is considered to be eternal, just like Christ’s. Melchizedek priesthood is a type, a priesthood that is eternal, and Christ priesthood is categorized under this same type (i.e. the eternal priesthood and not Melchizedek priesthood). So, saying we are back to the order of Melchizedek could create a misleading impression, and that’s why I had issues with a portion of your post (below). mikeg: Furthermore, I would suggest that the Melchisedec priesthood is the only New Covenant (Christian) priesthood and the only priesthood of which, according to scripture, Christ is the head. The new priesthood is not really Melchizedek priesthood, we are under a new type of priesthood (a type to which Melchizedek priesthood also belongs) with Christ as the high priest. You should also note that Christ priesthood is not a continuation (succession) of Melchizedek priesthood, it’s brand new. That’s why I say they are different. |
