That is not what the judgment says on iRev. What it says is that it is meant to enhance transparency and not a sine qua non in the circumstances especially as Atiku and OBI's Lawyers did not present figures different from what INEC declared which are presumed by Law to be correct until the contrary is shown or proven. It is as simple as that. Not difficult to understand! The Petitioners Lawyers played to the gallery and chose to dance to the drumbeats of the social media buzz of Atiku and Obi supporters! Those Lawyers know better now! Litigation is not conducted on Twitter but in the Courtroom! Lesson learnt.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Gaza: How Countries Voted To Protect Civilians & Humanitarian Truce by zoedew: 5:59am On Oct 28, 2023
FreeStuffsNG:
Only US, Isreal and 12 other countries, mostly tiny weak Island countries; Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Fiji, Guatemala, Hungary, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and Tonga , voted against the adoption of the resolution and they lost woefully!

This is a testament to the seriously diminished power and influence of the United States on global politics on this Palestinian-Israel war.

Even the E.U , Canada and UK didn't vote against the resolution. China, Russia, Jordan, Iran, Pakistan, the Arab League, Turkiye, Ireland, South Africa and Nigeria tried too. It was a momentous event that the world stood together significantly for the Palestinian people.

Sincerely, Humanity won. Over 3000 Palestinian children killed yet Hamas keeps fighting and firing rockets into Israel, giving credence to the report that Israel is actually killing mostly civilians and children.

If Isreal, with all its military power and backing of US and UK , has been fighting a small group of Hamas fighters for weeks now yet the death toll of children and civilians in Gaza keep mounting and Hamas Rockets firings into Israel have not stopped, so who is Isreal deceiving? Who is Isreal been killing for the past few weeks of bombing Gaza? Hamas still fired a lot of rockets into Southern Israel few hours ago!

If after this resolution, Isreal continues the bombing, there will be very serious and severe consequences against Israel. I pray it doesn't get to that. Check my signature for free stuffs!
This matter is not about the diminished power of any nation as it is about the correctness of Hamas action on 07/10/2023 when it attacked Israel and innocent Israeli civilians comprising babies were slaughtered like rams and terrorised and kidnapped. Now Israel wakes up to defend itself and ensure Hamas will no longer be able to do acts of terror against its citizens folks talk about ceasefire instead of morefire! It cannot be denied that Hamas keeps itself warm by using civilians as human shields and embedding itself in hospitals and schools storing explosives in tunnels located under civilian habitats!!! How so cowardly and inhuman!!! Israel will do well to remove Hamas from wherever they are found by all means necessary. Even if found under the U.N. Sec-Gen.'s Desk! Imagine if it was your family members Hamas murdered in cold bold?🤔🧐

Politics › Re: CSU Deposition Inadmissible, not Authenticated For Use In Nigeria-supreme Court by zoedew:
garfield1:
Emmanuel Agim, justice of the supreme court, says the deposition of the registrar for Chicago State University was not authenticated for use in Nigeria.

The supreme court on Thursday dismissed the application for leave to file fresh evidence against President Bola Tinubu by Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the February 25 election.

Abubakar had secured an order from the US district court for the Northern District of Illinois, directing the release of Tinubu’s academic credentials.

Abubakar and PDP alleged that Tinubu submitted forged academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable him to contest the election.

However, the court held that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain an issue that was not presented during the election petition tribunal proceedings.

The court also dismissed the entire petition seeking to overturn the verdict of the tribunal which affirmed Tinubu’s election.

Agreeing with the lead judgement delivered by Inyang Okoro, Agim said there was nothing authenticating the documents obtained by the appellants.

“The deposition for this additional evidence is inadmissible,” the justice said.

“If a document is inadmissible, you cannot ask that you should be allowed to bring it in as fresh evidence.

“A reading of the deposition exposes that it is not authenticated by the seal of the authority before whom it was issued.

“A deposition from another country to be used in Nigeria should prima facie, give features of authentication such as the official seal of the court where it is sworn or if it is before a notary public, a seal or signature.”

He said if it is sworn in the Nigerian embassy, high commission or consulate in that country, the signature of the officer authorised to do so and the seal of the embassy, high commission or consulate must be seen.

“Such authentication is an assurance of the origin and authenticity of the foreign deposition,” Agim added.

“In our present case, the certified shorthand reporter before whom the deposition was made did not authenticate the deposition with her seal.

“She merely signed a certificate of report bearing her name and number. Being a deposition from another country, it cannot be used in Nigeria without authentication. The authentication of the oath administration is mandatory.”

Agim also expressed concerns as to why the deposition was made in the law office of Abubakar’s lawyer instead of the court which gave the order.

“I’ve wondered why the deposition made… was not made before the court,” he said.

“And if made elsewhere in the law office of the first appellant’s attorney why was it not filed in the above-mentioned court because of the peculiar circumstances of this case and adopted as the deposition ordered to be made by the court so that it can form part of the record of the court.”

Agim also faulted the appellants for failing to secure a letter from CSU disclaiming the records Tinubu forwarded to INEC.

“I have continued to wonder why the appellant did not use the advantage of the order of the district court that the college produce documents and deposition concerning those certificates,” he said.

“Why they didn’t use that advantage to secure a letter from the college under its letterhead, seal and signature disclaiming the certificate presented by the second respondent to INEC as not one issued by the college?

“Instead, they resorted to this deposition which has no features of authentication, thereby rendering it spurious and inadmissible.”

How Wike has been able to outdo Amaechi twice is surprising to me. Wike played a pivotal role in getting Amaechi out of Pdp in 2014/15. He has done the same again in 2022/23.
Can we say Amaechi is not politically smart. Wike seems to have won him in all their political battles.

Amaechi couldn't even win Rivers for Apc in 2015 and 2019.

Can we conclude that Wike is politically smarter than Amaechi?
Sure! In Politics finesse is not so needed as grits and smartness. Amaechi is low on grits.

You don't know more than SAN who filles those petitions. Court dismisses cases of murder based on loopholes. Law is not 2+2=4. That is reason there are judges to interpret constitution. Judges have their bias too. I know Professor's from different ethnic group who are biased on their view of others. Our biases influence our judgement.
May I disagree. On the Law no other possibility exists asides a loss for the Petitioners. The judgment is freely available online : please read it. Judges decide matters based on evidence before them. Atiku presented no evidence on forgery and rigging before the court of first instance. His Lawyers later tried to do so before the Supreme Court but failed because the necessary conditions for doing so were lacking in their case to wit that the evidence was not available previously. It was all the while available! Justice is a two way traffic thing. Justice to Atiku and Obi as Petitioners and justice to Tinubu as Respondent. It would be unfair to Tinubu to now allow Atiku who slept on his right to present evidence to now do so after Tinubu has closed his case and judgment delivered. That, essentially is the reason Atiku and Obi case failed. Read the Judgment calmly, dispassionately and objectively. I’m no politician by the way. I’m a Lawyer.

The truth is, both parties, especially the one who doubles as IPOB grand, relied more on blackmailing the judges into giving him a favourable judgement. He went to both the Court of Appeal and Supreme courts with nothing as evidence but his phone with which he uses to issue orders to his criminal supporters

I'm glad the judges stuck to their guns and delivered judgement based on the evidence before them, which is at best watery.
All eyes 👀 are now on the unpatriotic duo of Atiku and the Obi fascist. Folks versed in Nigerian politics know that no one wins a Presidential Election who has not found acceptance in the Northern States. Obi deludes himself to think he could win in the North!
Politics › Re: Robert Clarke: Atiku, Obi’s Lawyers Didn’t Display Professionalism by zoedew:

I agree with Clarke to some extent. Even if they did , judges would find some loopholes to dismiss them. The truth is that owner of Nigeria doesn't want Atiku and couldn't trust an Ibo man to be president. May be they drafted Obi into race to stop Atiku.
See, if the lower court had given Atiku and Obi judgment the Supreme Court would have overturned it. The petitions were bad from the very beginning.Too many cooks spoilt the broth.
