olisaEze:Joe Igbokwe is not saying anything new that we don't know. so i don't know about him making sense. APC, his party is in power, and his political godfather is a major force in the party, so he is in the right position to push this with his party. This how from 1999-2015 election, restructuring of the country was topical to Tinubu group but now what do we have? They have all gone to sleep. We all know what the problems of this country are and the solutions but the political players has used these sentiment and problems to climb the political leadership, and on getting there, they changed or suddenly become silent on major national issues. I trust no politician, even if he is my blood brother. |
Fulani's case is like when you shield a bad child of crime committed, he brings bad name to the Family. For the number of killings and land grabbed in the Middle belt it was be difficult for generations to forget, because without restitution to the aggrieved, how will they forgive and forget. The Reverend is correct, the Fulani elders should talk to their people to stop this madness . Buhari has 4yrs on the seat after which real wahala may began for them. |
Koolking:I accept evey country has got problems, and problem is normal in life, but how they solve their problems will determine the patriotic zeal of citizens and where the country is graded. Some of us ask for more, while some are just comfortable with the status quo. If you ate patriotic you will fight for the country to be great. Right now many don't see a future in this country and leave for saner places, at least basic life amenities are provided. Patriotism is not only obeying laws but also asking questions when required. Our primary duty as citizens is not to praise the government but to put the few in leadership in check. RIP to the unfortunate victims. |
alonzoiv:Let wait and keep watch. Internet does not forget. If only the present govt will not muddle everything in politics. |
slap1:Most people commenting here on my dear state don't have a clue of the state but depending on internet fake news to give malicious comments. The man Ihedioha is doing a lot to sanitize the system he met on ground. I know most of the Okorocha's e-rats will not recognise the law on TSA, will not see the effort to sanitize the environment which Okorocha destroyed, they will not see the erosion site contract award to Arab contractor, Okorocha spent 8yrs as a governor, did he for one day publish the state account. Did he publish contracts awarded. Did he follow the public procurement laws? Did he give account of contracts and contractors used for all the so called contract he awarded or executed. How did he treat the LGA's. Did he improve the existing state own higher institutions before creating so many new ones on the eve of leaving the seat. On what revenue was he expecting such schools to managed with, high schools fee? Did he list the investments he attracted and the number of employment achieved? These are just few questions, I have many more. If Ihedioha bleeps I will also point out his shortcomings but before then let see where he is going, after all he just named his commissioners just like other states and the Federal govt. |
After apologies what next? We all know the problem, every state has autonomy over it land space as vested on the state government and empowered by Land Use Act as enshrined in section 315 of Nigeria constitution. Therefore the various state can decide on how their lands can be used. Some states has even gone ahead to pass law on open grazing prohibition. Is this association of herders greater than the law? Don't they have their members in the Northern socio-cultural groups? It is too belittling for the regional social cultural groups to sit in round table with mere a association of business men on matters of national security, otherwise called all groups. |
Buhari always patronizing people, what is the big deal about naming national monument after a Abiola, after all the past administration wanted to do that with a university in Lagos. The principal duty of government is protection of life and property, and advancement of humanity. Can he claim is has delivered on any of his campaign promises, some of which he has denied ever promising. The country need new thinking, we need philosophers, people of higher thinking in government. Not an analog president in fast moving jet age. A president who sits in Aso Rock like a king and leave communication to his over zealous assistants. No wonder there is always denial and refuting of comments from his assistants. Buhari can't unify our country in pursuit of common goal. A country where we recognize and respect our diversity and allow for natural trust among the people. |
Cinkq:Believe this story verbatim at your own peril. Moreover no information provided by the security agencies in Nigeria would I believe in totality. They will never do proper investigation before coming to the media, and whatever miss information created at first can never be retracted. This information is having so may loop holes. This man is likely a chemist who lives in the remote village among the Hausas and doing is medical business. For the fact that he treats these bandits and their family members makes him culpable. The bandits arrested would have under interrogation mention his name as the person that treat them when they have gun wounds and our law enforcement personnel true to their methods includes him as a bandit. Tagging him a leader of predominately Northern criminals is laughable and too cheap, only those with mischief mind will believe this. But unfortunately this is the last we will hear about this and people will come on social media to insult themselves because they lack ability to interrogate people who hold positions of responsibility. Tinubu said nothing because criminality is universal but only playing politics and divisive tactics to divert the issue on ground. I expect him to speak out against the bandits and ask the government of the day to go after these killers and bring them to book, If it were the PDP in power, would he have also made the same comment? There is need to take a deep thought. |
It is good that this is coming up early in this administration. The truth is that successive administration left the drainage system in the state master built by Sam Mbakwe to rot away. The environment suffered most during the reign of Okorocha. I await to see what Ihedioha will do about this problem. |
chiagozien:Really, accommodating the Fulani is not the problem, because they have always been around our towns and villages. Playing by the rule of the native indigenous people is the problem. The people say ranch and they refused, rather demanding lands that do not belong to them. Can any body from the south go up north to make such demands? secondly, who are you releasing the land to, Nigerians or West African Fulani? Look at the level of destruction this people have coursed up not and middle belt. I guess your comment is just a sarcasm to follow in line with the word of Mr President Buhari. |
budaatum:Buhari can never be half of the nationalism in Trump. Trump is all for America and Americans, can you say Nigeria is for Nigerians. Who is a Nigerian, does it also include herders from west Africa? I expect more from a leader. |
First, list is not drawn by a family but the community elders. List is to test the resolve of a man to get married, when some guys don't take the extra pain to get married, they don't tend to respect and appreciate the marriage institution. Most people who complain are those who have no knowledge of how to go about it. When a list is given, get people who understand traditions and they will tell you how to go about it. It is never compulsory to do exact, Some of our parents get lost in the city and their children too loose touch with traditions. |
Pecca:Don't expect any answer. |
Is Buhari really a true Nationalist and a Democrat? The answer is No. His comment on issue of his religious belief and tribal actions over the years he was not government is well documented. I don't hate him but I don't think he is the right leader to keep the sanctify of a peaceful secular state like Nigeria. Musa Yar Adua was Fulani/Muslim but he was embraced by all including the Igbos, so also Abiola Yoruba/Muslim. Why? Because both men have more nationalistic posture and understand the secular nature of Nigeria and have respect for the various tribal element in the country. Hyped Integrity and self sanctimonious adulation is not enough to lead and unite a diverse country like ours. Based on what we have on ground today, can any rational thinker claim that Buhari has met his campaign promises in the past 4yrs or galvanized all section of the country towards a common goal? |
It's amazing how this issue continued to linger. First the state have control over their land space, therefore can determine, how the state asset can be utilized for the common good of the indigenes and the larger society. Secondly, who is this Fulani requesting the states (indigenes) to forfeit their land, is the Nigerian or other west african Fulani? Even though we are all migrants on earth, is this enough to want to forceful take people property away in the name of one Nigerian. Can Fulani claim to be indigenous to the space called Nigeria? This people plus Buhari should know that the Governors are standing on the position of the indigenous people. The herders has been given 2 options, Ranch or transport. It is the landlord that gives conditions not the tenant. Period. |
AbuuBilaal:Let the "Solution" start in the north first. What is so difficult about starting it in the north, abi something else dey inside? It's very alarming that some people don't see the bigger picture. This is how we hastily draw up policies and end up they way we are today. Did the government discuss this in details with our people? What is wrong with ranching? If ownership of land is vested on the state, will it be wrong for this people to come together and lease land from the state government. Mind you, you can be in the city but there are a lot of peasants farmers who are at the hinterland and depend on this lands for subsistence farming, They may end up becoming tenant in their land. I believe in natural integration just as the people in the south have lived for so many years without crisis and not forced integration using the state powers. |
Bhol28:I like your positive vibe but Nigeria is not a normal country, where positiveness only has produces result, otherwise we will not be complaining of electricity, roads, and other essential of life. We are yet to determine how we want to live together as a united people, we don't even know our population. The Fulani people at the center of the attrition, have you taken a background check on them? What is their antecedent? why were they chased away in Ghana, CAR, some other countries in Africa and even Guinea where they are indigenous to how have they been living with other tribes? Do we have control over our borders? When an investor come to invest in a company do know that background check is done on the investor?. Between north and south based on poverty index, who do you think need the Ruga scheme? North abi. Let the north concentrate on agriculture and south manufacturing. Let North do their RUGA and we in south will go with ranching. It simple. |
Realdeals:Nigerian love their oppressors, this is a country where one fight the oppressors and the oppressed fight those fighting for them on behalf of their oppressors. Until we correct leadership problem, every other facet will remain as they are today. |
RTSC:But how many of the APC and the president supporters can see beyond their nose. This people are a huge threat to the project called Nigeria. If the country burns it will be on everybody. It is important to let all the selfish and power drunk leaders in the south know that they and their family members to the last one shall not live if they put this country into crisis. Let Tinubu, Amaechi and Ngige and others keep courting trouble. They want us to eliminate our traditions and culture and accept fulani's |
Can't the president look beyond Politicians for ministers. We in for another long 4 yrs of motion without movement. The country have brains yet the APC and the president want to continue recycling old politicians, no wonder majority of our youth have lost interest in this country. |
AllHailBiafra:Please tone down your comment. We in the south cannot afford to be rash in our comment. However, we should be ready for any eventuality. |
Benekruku: |
godliman:And all those, for political reason have kept quite. The Ameachi's, Tinubus's and Ngige have all been scammed by Buhari. A man who is yet to draw up a workable blue print to develop the Niger Delta is ready to not only spend money generated from the ND to finance private business but also subtle claim of ancestral land for his brothers. Has any of this so called leaders in the south considered what this proposal will result to in the next 50-100 yrs? |
Dpharisee:Same template is about to be used in Nigeria. Let those who have ear hear. Even in Guinea where this people came from, they are not allowed to rule. Let the Tinubu's and Osinbajo's of this world and the deceitful politicians keep fraternizing with the snaky Buhari for power quest. When trouble starts, let them know that we will all die here including there family member and bounty will place on the head of any one who escapes. They seem to have forgotten history; the political crises in the west, which resulted to loss of lives and properties and also the Nigerian civil war. |
Has it occurred to us why the first democratic period was able to produce great result. Reason is that each region was able focus on the need and aspiration of their people. Therefore each developed at their own pace. No matter how we stand on one Nigeria, every state should decided what they want and not one individual sitting in Aso rock, telling all Nigeria what to do. Let the government invest the said money in modern ranching in the North and not try to force this proposal on people of other region. We have not gotten to that level of tolerance in this country and may never get to it with this type of president. |
Interesting this is what APC has turned Nigeria to. This country will boil one day. This people are not after you or my welfare, they are just after amassing power for them self. Unfortunately the opposition is not better. |
BankyGee:I know you did believe what you said. |
Niseamaka:Remember that Okorocha breached some of the contracts entered by Ohakim, in which the contractors had made considerable execution. You can appeal when you have merit to do that. So why did Okorocha not appeal those judgement? was he stockpiling them for a new person? Emeka should do a good health check of the state financial status and take proactive action to manage the crisis and also create development across the state. |
chrisagyei:I have no problems with your laws, but your country is a signatory to ECOWAS treaty on free trade. I guess other west African countries who don't have such laws could also put down such laws and restrict others too, I think that will make a better West Africa. I once lived with a Ghanaian who even had the privilege doing some services for one of state in the east. Do you think he will totally agree with you? |
No guns and ammunition recovered ?? |
JubrilBuhari:Take it easy, the guy is just doing his job. You know what I mean. Learned persons won't descend so low insulting others. |
anonymous1759:Trump was severely insulted and called names, Jonathan was severely insulted. But if our country is most important to us then we must disagree to agree on the basis of truth, Justice, equity and fair play. In politics not every body will vote for you but you must lead uprightly. |
