Something is wrong about this news. I don't think this is the most important need of Imo people right now. |
Hotzone:Nothing is guaranteed. After all Okorocha was also voted for to come into power by Owerri zone. If the so called "Mbaise man" messes up he will also be voted out. No sentiment. |
Sometime in March when I was shown the stadium, I could not believe that a a playing pitch is in that location let alone a stadium. On behalf of the Imo people we thank Rochas Okorocha for his self adulated stewardship and bid good bye and for the incoming governor, if you mess up be rest assured that you will be thrown out. |
Okorocha must have cancelled the contract when his administration came in without considering the implication. lack of continuity in government policies is one of the biggest problems of governance in this part of the world. Everybody want to award contract of his own and would not finish most before leaving office. Imo state government should pay up.period. |
Ihedioha should better perform otherwise same faith that befell Okorocha will visit him. This not the time for trading accusations. When he gets into the seat of government I expect him to work with brilliant minds across the state. And should have developmental plan for new towns like in Ngor Okpala and expanding the old one in Orlu and Okigwe. Our youths need to be engaged economically. |
Just wondering why the bickering on who won or did not. If Okorocha had giving Imo state an inspiring leadership and delivered on the support he got initially, will Imo people have been against him and anything that comes from him? We want a change and we have gotten it. What many people on this platform is missing out is that many factors worked against Nwosu/APC and it would have taken a missive rigging for AA or APC to win. Now that Emeka has won, will he listen to the voice of wisdom and focus on bringing good leadership to Imo state as a whole and leave party politics and over ambition aside. If he messes up and fail to redeem himself and his Mbaise clan, we will gladly show him the way out. For those who don't know, it is not about party, Uzodinma and Ararume have moral issues around them and do not represent what generality of Imo people will accept, therefore their candidature was already a loss to their parties coming from party primaries. Emeka seem the best among the candidates in terms of experience, but time will tell. |
Madam what have you and your like done about the bogus salary and allowances of our legislators. Have your been in the fore front of any reforms in the house? Yet they will regard themselves as progressives. Well it your right to desire and reach your goals. Let all wait and see what post Saraki will do to the senate, because the man has been blamed by your (APC) supporters for every legislative failure. |
Politics of WIN AT ALL COST. Can't we have different parties holding down elective positions across the country? Must one party have it all? This is what you get when service to the people is not the primary reason for desiring leadership position. |
Phonix1234:It is as simple as that. It is not about APC or PDP or even APGA and that is how it should be.If you give inspiring leadership you stay otherwise you will be voted out. |
StOla:Take look at all the candidates thrown up by APC across the SE and SS are they better than the others, especially when they have been jumping from one party to the other. There is no one single truth about our political system other than the truth of performance. If you followed the Imo state primaries to date, you will notice that the best hands/technocrats have been sacrificed for the these reaming gladiators, who in a good day will not get vote from many reasonable voters. You will even notice that APGA formed in the east have only one state, Anambra. |
StOla:First, know that Imo people will vote personality and not party otherwise he Okorocha would not have won second term, so please keep party sentiment away from Imo state. Secondly what project has Imo people got from aligning to the center? If he had allowed transparency and allowed the people to throw up candidate from the party platform without too much vested interest, don't you think that APC would have been in better position to win this Guber election? Has Okorocha ever complied to political agreements? a man who was busy changing deputies like he is changes cloths. In a normal nation or system, any inspiring Governor does not need to be in same party with the president to perform. Your comment above is the reason we are retrogressing as a country. |
Guzel:But Owerri people voted for Okorocha in 2011 and 2015, who is even a better known and appreciated individual than Uche Nwosu. What is Uche's pedigree or achievement other than being the Son In-law to Okorocha. |
The voice of the people is the voice of God say our people and they have said to Okorocha and his Stooge "MENE, MENE, TEKEL" let his prophets interpret to him. |
When a man is so desperate to cover his tracks, he commits more blunders in the process. Okorocha uses his oratory and APC sentiment to attract support from some gullible people across the country. A man full of self aggrandizement, who never subject him self to due process. We all await May 29, when a new government will be sworn in and people will see the financial atrocities committed by this man, who for some is the only Igbo man worthy of Nigerian Presidency. |
A society that don't ask questions will always act on impulse before thinking or investigate. Does believe in Juju make Africans savages and barbarians? |
Politicians and their selfish interest. Whoever among the politicians in Akwa Ibom importing thugs to the state must be very unpopular among his people otherwise why get those foolish ones outside the state. I want to see how Buhari and his anti-corruption fight will deal with all the idiot caught in election malpractices. |
9jvirgin:Those bandits up north don't have compassion and value for life. Let change the system of governance to the benefit of all but their leaders will continue to resist. One part of my heart feel for this people but another part of me that persevere the suffering and hopelessness pervading this country want to feel indifferent. Thank God that she survived but we can't continue living on the edge as a nation. This country must develop values and the type of democracy that will benefit all the people and accelerate development in all human endeavor. God save us all. |
This is the type of unstable mind and selfish individuals some people will supports and ready to die for. Politics is all about the gains for them and their families. Ifeanyi Ubah is a business man just looking for where is bread will be buttered, only a fool will listen to him. |
stanluiz:Read my comment very well. I never mentioned giving control of one state's resources to another. Fed Govt should reduce control on state resources and let the individual states develop whatever natural and human resources the state is blessed with. It's not about oil only, but with all mineral and natural resources. And how do you know what region I come from? Don't let your sentiment becloud your judgment. |
Nice call from Ekiti. Fed Govt should begin to handover some control to the state government. Imagine power generation for example, Where state which invest in power generation must supply to the national grid for free and still will not get enough for industrial use in the state. Who does that? But, it also important that the statement governments begin to embrace transparency and accountability. The lack of laws or compliance to existing law demanding government to publicly declare quarterly financials as a must is a major issue and the lack of demand for accountability by the citizens is another major issue. |
With what happened in Lagos during the presidential election and subsequent events, I will be surprise if other tribes will turn up for the governorship election. I foresee voters apathy. Tinubu and APC can have Lagos. |
What are other parties in the election doing to protect the cast votes. From all indications prior the election, it is well known that Okorocha will do ANYTHING to win for himself and the president. Okorocha and Orji Kalu to represent Imo and Abia, what a loss of representation to the East and Nigeria all a whole |
4gunners:That is the problem of the prosecution team.It is wrong to go to court with inconsistent charges and evidences hoping that the judge will help you out. EFCC should get their facts and figures right before rushing to the court, otherwise most of these thieving politicians will escape punishment for their crime. |
EponOjuku:Has producing the presidency ever benefited any region? What has all the president produce by the north done for the north? What did Obasonjo or Jonathan give to the SW or SS respectively. Nigerians should hold the state governments accountable. They should be the major drivers of development. The performance of the likes of Jakande, Mbakwe and the host of second republic Governors still remain a standard unparalleled till date but the President was Shehu Shagari. With the professional politicians in APC and PDP, and the current structure in Nigeria, presidency is just for cronyism and politics not development. |
So how many calendars does this man want Nigerians to use? So any scientific advancement which comes from the west or america must be seen as Christian practice. He totally forgot that civilization began from Africa and many Asian and Arab scientist contributed so much to same civilization we have today. This how they created sharia law in the north, as if there is no existing law covering the relevant offences. If any one has issues with the existing calendar system, he or she should migrate to where he can practice he own belief, otherwise keep shut. If he does not have a problem enjoying vehicle movement, electricity, computer etc which comes from the west and america why is he complaining about calendar. |
I hope there is a monitoring system by the World bank to evaluate the performance of fund drawn and spend, otherwise the main problem will be be accountability of the funds when released. The university system and leadership across the country has shown brazen disregard to accountability of funds internally generated. I won't be surprise if at the end of the day executed project is not commensurate to the amount released. |
How did he manage the good will given to him by the people of Imo state? A man who could not give an inspirational leadership at state level want to rule Nigeria. Is the state better off now than when he took over leadership? I wish him goodluck. |
Eammy:Exactly, most of our people would not understand that. Everything is seen through ethno-political and religious view. |
I am not surprised by the inflammatory comments coming from this man. APC cannot force their way through a state owned and maintained facility. If the state did use the smaller stadium for the annual state carol, what makes APC political campaign most important than maintaining the quality of that stadium, considering that even the national stadiums has not been functioning due to bad maintenance culture of our Federal govt. Not too long ago, the APC government denied a certain presidential candidate the use of Eagle square on flimsy excuses and heaven did not fall, so why is this man talking nonsense. What I expect APC to do is to use the 30,000 capacity stadium provided and wait to see what PDP will use when it is their turn to use the stadiums. Is the president a god? |
OlowuJohn:Nairaland e-coaches will not understand your comment. The coach read the situation well and did what he needed to do. What was important was to get at least a point and he got. This is a qualifier,It does not matter how he got the point. |
Most of the rich men and politicians don't pay tax willingly except deducted at source and paid on their behalf and even we they pay, they under pay taxes. Normally a tax clearance certificate will show 3 year tax paid, it is updated each year with the recent paid. It will not be right to jump to conclusion that he was not paying tax, for some body of his status it will be whether he paid adequately and when due. As a director in most of these companies he would have paid tax on directors fee earned and the issue will be that in those other years did he do direct assessment on his global income and paid the right tax? |
DavidEsq:What do you advise Christians to do? I mean practical actions. It is good that you quoted various verses but also provide practical ways for Christian in modern day world backed by biblical verses. Are Christians supposed to be involved in leadership? If yes where and how? Because I know the church have leaders. |
