This is the type of unstable mind and selfish individuals some people will supports and ready to die for. Politics is all about the gains for them and their families. Ifeanyi Ubah is a business man just looking for where is bread will be buttered, only a fool will listen to him. |
stanluiz:Read my comment very well. I never mentioned giving control of one state's resources to another. Fed Govt should reduce control on state resources and let the individual states develop whatever natural and human resources the state is blessed with. It's not about oil only, but with all mineral and natural resources. And how do you know what region I come from? Don't let your sentiment becloud your judgment. |
Nice call from Ekiti. Fed Govt should begin to handover some control to the state government. Imagine power generation for example, Where state which invest in power generation must supply to the national grid for free and still will not get enough for industrial use in the state. Who does that? But, it also important that the statement governments begin to embrace transparency and accountability. The lack of laws or compliance to existing law demanding government to publicly declare quarterly financials as a must is a major issue and the lack of demand for accountability by the citizens is another major issue. |
With what happened in Lagos during the presidential election and subsequent events, I will be surprise if other tribes will turn up for the governorship election. I foresee voters apathy. Tinubu and APC can have Lagos. |
What are other parties in the election doing to protect the cast votes. From all indications prior the election, it is well known that Okorocha will do ANYTHING to win for himself and the president. Okorocha and Orji Kalu to represent Imo and Abia, what a loss of representation to the East and Nigeria all a whole |
4gunners:That is the problem of the prosecution team.It is wrong to go to court with inconsistent charges and evidences hoping that the judge will help you out. EFCC should get their facts and figures right before rushing to the court, otherwise most of these thieving politicians will escape punishment for their crime. |
EponOjuku:Has producing the presidency ever benefited any region? What has all the president produce by the north done for the north? What did Obasonjo or Jonathan give to the SW or SS respectively. Nigerians should hold the state governments accountable. They should be the major drivers of development. The performance of the likes of Jakande, Mbakwe and the host of second republic Governors still remain a standard unparalleled till date but the President was Shehu Shagari. With the professional politicians in APC and PDP, and the current structure in Nigeria, presidency is just for cronyism and politics not development. |
So how many calendars does this man want Nigerians to use? So any scientific advancement which comes from the west or america must be seen as Christian practice. He totally forgot that civilization began from Africa and many Asian and Arab scientist contributed so much to same civilization we have today. This how they created sharia law in the north, as if there is no existing law covering the relevant offences. If any one has issues with the existing calendar system, he or she should migrate to where he can practice he own belief, otherwise keep shut. If he does not have a problem enjoying vehicle movement, electricity, computer etc which comes from the west and america why is he complaining about calendar. |
I hope there is a monitoring system by the World bank to evaluate the performance of fund drawn and spend, otherwise the main problem will be be accountability of the funds when released. The university system and leadership across the country has shown brazen disregard to accountability of funds internally generated. I won't be surprise if at the end of the day executed project is not commensurate to the amount released. |
How did he manage the good will given to him by the people of Imo state? A man who could not give an inspirational leadership at state level want to rule Nigeria. Is the state better off now than when he took over leadership? I wish him goodluck. |
Eammy:Exactly, most of our people would not understand that. Everything is seen through ethno-political and religious view. |
I am not surprised by the inflammatory comments coming from this man. APC cannot force their way through a state owned and maintained facility. If the state did use the smaller stadium for the annual state carol, what makes APC political campaign most important than maintaining the quality of that stadium, considering that even the national stadiums has not been functioning due to bad maintenance culture of our Federal govt. Not too long ago, the APC government denied a certain presidential candidate the use of Eagle square on flimsy excuses and heaven did not fall, so why is this man talking nonsense. What I expect APC to do is to use the 30,000 capacity stadium provided and wait to see what PDP will use when it is their turn to use the stadiums. Is the president a god? |
OlowuJohn:Nairaland e-coaches will not understand your comment. The coach read the situation well and did what he needed to do. What was important was to get at least a point and he got. This is a qualifier,It does not matter how he got the point. |
Most of the rich men and politicians don't pay tax willingly except deducted at source and paid on their behalf and even we they pay, they under pay taxes. Normally a tax clearance certificate will show 3 year tax paid, it is updated each year with the recent paid. It will not be right to jump to conclusion that he was not paying tax, for some body of his status it will be whether he paid adequately and when due. As a director in most of these companies he would have paid tax on directors fee earned and the issue will be that in those other years did he do direct assessment on his global income and paid the right tax? |
DavidEsq:What do you advise Christians to do? I mean practical actions. It is good that you quoted various verses but also provide practical ways for Christian in modern day world backed by biblical verses. Are Christians supposed to be involved in leadership? If yes where and how? Because I know the church have leaders. |
History is about to happen again. 2007 election saw many crisis in Imo PDP due to inposition of candidate which resulted to litigation. That paved way for PPA and Ohakim to win that election. The elites and majority of imo citizens are fed up with okorocha and his antics. Okorocha will rather see a destroyed APC in imo state, than to see his opposers take up the party machinery. The question is does a person make a party? If majority does not want you for what ever reason, you bow out honourably. I have said it many times, Okorocha and his antics is the reason APC is very unpopular in the east. One governor, 3 deputies is something not wrong in his leadership qualities. If eventually he has his way with Abuja APC, people should expect elections crisis in Imo state come 2019. Because I see the other contestants working/moving to PDP because they have nothing to loose. |
BabangidaHamza:Nairaland is now a joke. |
Joevics:Can we now all agree that we are retrogressing You enjoyed free eduction, but will not allow same for others. You enjoy free media, but will not allow same for others You had freedom, but will arrest any one who do not agree with your position. This regime will lead Nigeria to anarchy. When you have control freaks in power this is what you get. |
This shows we are not yet ready to move from our crude ways of life to a thinking people. I don't get it when some people will support tyranny. You see people protest in advance world, even in front of UN building without any molestation. It does not matter if you agree with them or not. The right the supporters of this regime has on going on a solidarity walk, same right non supporters has to go on protest walk. Will anybody be physically harmed if they do their protest and go back to their homes? I can see that attending a university does not really impact on the intelligence of some Nigerians. Today unionism has been rendered useless, same people who were in the street marching against the military junta are the one today unleashing state power on people. Same people who occupied Ojota some years back are the same people backing this government. I will ask an average Nigerian, Where do you stand in the time of crisis? Nigerians should think |
Hold the eastern governors accountable for bad governance, they would not. Most will prefer to be aloof to what is happening back in the region but they be busy spinning out acidic utterances about other places. What is Ikpeazu doing in Abia state government house. Does Abia have a blue print on development since PDP has been in power since the new dispensation? Abia people should be wise in 2019. Leave sentiment apart and vote wisely. |
festwiz:Don't misunderstand the woman, she did not encourage what you think, she was just echoing what our society has become now. she went further to advice would be couples. |
rman:I also had my reservacations when the initial news broke out. Knowing the way we do things here I know somebody somewhere has not done his or her work well. Will CBN come out to withdraw the initial statement and put issues on the right perspective, I doubt. Let us keep our fingers crossed and wait for the final findings. |
We as a people lack basic safety rules hence the loss of man and resources on daily basis The people are docile, therefore the leaders are empowered to misrule and mismanage the available resources. The people work to feed the "Queen" politician. Let rock the boat a little and put the politician on their toes, but the so called educated ones in our society and some sections of the country prefer it this way. We don't want problems they will say We want better life but nobody is ready to demand or fight for it. With the way things has got so bad no docile ways can change the country unless we all bear the pain and get it right. The wicked politicians over the years crippled unionism in all sector. Today the unions can't stand up in one accord. Human right activism died with Fela and Gani. What we have now are just pretenders. We get what we deserve. Just like law enforcement is to crime, so is the people to the politicians, if we don't checkmate them they well end up selling air to the people Let us enjoy our peace we deserve it. |
Does the Anglican church has the C of O, if yes they have a case with the government, otherwise they should leave the land for Anambra government. Secondly, where did get the fact that the catholic church want to take over the land is it by mere fact that a catholic church is close by and Obiano is a catholic faithful? |
With open direct primaries, Ambode is gone. Therefore Lagosians should wait to see who PDP will bring out because that is the next big party in the state no disregard to other parties. The two recent elections in the west, reveal some fact that regardless of performance the west will vote APC or allowed APC get away with rigging 1. Fayose was not paying salary/pension therefore his party was voted out for APC. 2 Aregbe was not paying salary/pension but his APC party was retained. Ambode should be grateful that he served and move on to another chapter. With the way things are going between him and the emperor, I don't see him even getting a senatorial nomination in the future because many people are already on queue and would not be forgiving for being stubborn by the powers that be. |
In my opinion the current government with the mantra of change has really failed Nigerians, one would have expected the executive to sponsored bills that would have holistically restructured the earnings of elective officers in Nigerian if they were sincere to begin with. |
If you can't stand or tolerate the culture & religion of a people, you move to where you have your like minds instead of instigating trouble and creating hatred for you and your likes. |
ugotuf:Pulling the statues down will be counter productive and waste of resources. beautifying the state by creation of parks is not the problem, but been able to judiciously manage state resources and improving the life of the people with such measures as attracting investment (employment), good and affordable education, good roads and functioning hospitals. The major challenge of Okorocha and his cronies at large is the lack of transparency and accountability. All contracts and financial activities are shrouded in secrecy, even the FOI bill are challenged by some state governor like Lagos state. It will surprise you that some communities in Imo do not have electricity infrastructure and some that has, do not see electricity for 3 months interval. |
gurnam:You are correct by half, every region has seen it own share of violence or should I remind you the origin of election violence in Nigeria. Imo youths have been very calm and orderly about Okorocha and his ambition. When they got tired of PDP they voted them out peacefully but the way Okorocha is going about swearing on his life to install his son in-law is what have piqued the people. Okorocha has jettisoned the equity agreements amongst the people because it does not go in line with his ambition. Does one man ambition overrides the desires of the populace. This is a little message he should think about. Even his people do not support him. |
We have heard several speeches by Buhari and they all sound similar. I will rather prefer a presidential parley, in which his ministers are also available to give score card and answer questions from the public as part of independence day celebrations. Do you agree? |
The ease at which lives are lost in Nigeria baffles me. Are we in animal Kingdom, even in animal kingdom those above in the food chain are also careful too of not ending in another belly. |
bejeria101:In that vain you owe Nigeria nothing. |
