History is about to happen again. 2007 election saw many crisis in Imo PDP due to inposition of candidate which resulted to litigation. That paved way for PPA and Ohakim to win that election. The elites and majority of imo citizens are fed up with okorocha and his antics. Okorocha will rather see a destroyed APC in imo state, than to see his opposers take up the party machinery. The question is does a person make a party? If majority does not want you for what ever reason, you bow out honourably. I have said it many times, Okorocha and his antics is the reason APC is very unpopular in the east. One governor, 3 deputies is something not wrong in his leadership qualities. If eventually he has his way with Abuja APC, people should expect elections crisis in Imo state come 2019. Because I see the other contestants working/moving to PDP because they have nothing to loose. |
BabangidaHamza:Nairaland is now a joke. |
Joevics:Can we now all agree that we are retrogressing You enjoyed free eduction, but will not allow same for others. You enjoy free media, but will not allow same for others You had freedom, but will arrest any one who do not agree with your position. This regime will lead Nigeria to anarchy. When you have control freaks in power this is what you get. |
This shows we are not yet ready to move from our crude ways of life to a thinking people. I don't get it when some people will support tyranny. You see people protest in advance world, even in front of UN building without any molestation. It does not matter if you agree with them or not. The right the supporters of this regime has on going on a solidarity walk, same right non supporters has to go on protest walk. Will anybody be physically harmed if they do their protest and go back to their homes? I can see that attending a university does not really impact on the intelligence of some Nigerians. Today unionism has been rendered useless, same people who were in the street marching against the military junta are the one today unleashing state power on people. Same people who occupied Ojota some years back are the same people backing this government. I will ask an average Nigerian, Where do you stand in the time of crisis? Nigerians should think |
Hold the eastern governors accountable for bad governance, they would not. Most will prefer to be aloof to what is happening back in the region but they be busy spinning out acidic utterances about other places. What is Ikpeazu doing in Abia state government house. Does Abia have a blue print on development since PDP has been in power since the new dispensation? Abia people should be wise in 2019. Leave sentiment apart and vote wisely. |
festwiz:Don't misunderstand the woman, she did not encourage what you think, she was just echoing what our society has become now. she went further to advice would be couples. |
rman:I also had my reservacations when the initial news broke out. Knowing the way we do things here I know somebody somewhere has not done his or her work well. Will CBN come out to withdraw the initial statement and put issues on the right perspective, I doubt. Let us keep our fingers crossed and wait for the final findings. |
We as a people lack basic safety rules hence the loss of man and resources on daily basis The people are docile, therefore the leaders are empowered to misrule and mismanage the available resources. The people work to feed the "Queen" politician. Let rock the boat a little and put the politician on their toes, but the so called educated ones in our society and some sections of the country prefer it this way. We don't want problems they will say We want better life but nobody is ready to demand or fight for it. With the way things has got so bad no docile ways can change the country unless we all bear the pain and get it right. The wicked politicians over the years crippled unionism in all sector. Today the unions can't stand up in one accord. Human right activism died with Fela and Gani. What we have now are just pretenders. We get what we deserve. Just like law enforcement is to crime, so is the people to the politicians, if we don't checkmate them they well end up selling air to the people Let us enjoy our peace we deserve it. |
Does the Anglican church has the C of O, if yes they have a case with the government, otherwise they should leave the land for Anambra government. Secondly, where did get the fact that the catholic church want to take over the land is it by mere fact that a catholic church is close by and Obiano is a catholic faithful? |
With open direct primaries, Ambode is gone. Therefore Lagosians should wait to see who PDP will bring out because that is the next big party in the state no disregard to other parties. The two recent elections in the west, reveal some fact that regardless of performance the west will vote APC or allowed APC get away with rigging 1. Fayose was not paying salary/pension therefore his party was voted out for APC. 2 Aregbe was not paying salary/pension but his APC party was retained. Ambode should be grateful that he served and move on to another chapter. With the way things are going between him and the emperor, I don't see him even getting a senatorial nomination in the future because many people are already on queue and would not be forgiving for being stubborn by the powers that be. |
In my opinion the current government with the mantra of change has really failed Nigerians, one would have expected the executive to sponsored bills that would have holistically restructured the earnings of elective officers in Nigerian if they were sincere to begin with. |
If you can't stand or tolerate the culture & religion of a people, you move to where you have your like minds instead of instigating trouble and creating hatred for you and your likes. |
ugotuf:Pulling the statues down will be counter productive and waste of resources. beautifying the state by creation of parks is not the problem, but been able to judiciously manage state resources and improving the life of the people with such measures as attracting investment (employment), good and affordable education, good roads and functioning hospitals. The major challenge of Okorocha and his cronies at large is the lack of transparency and accountability. All contracts and financial activities are shrouded in secrecy, even the FOI bill are challenged by some state governor like Lagos state. It will surprise you that some communities in Imo do not have electricity infrastructure and some that has, do not see electricity for 3 months interval. |
gurnam:You are correct by half, every region has seen it own share of violence or should I remind you the origin of election violence in Nigeria. Imo youths have been very calm and orderly about Okorocha and his ambition. When they got tired of PDP they voted them out peacefully but the way Okorocha is going about swearing on his life to install his son in-law is what have piqued the people. Okorocha has jettisoned the equity agreements amongst the people because it does not go in line with his ambition. Does one man ambition overrides the desires of the populace. This is a little message he should think about. Even his people do not support him. |
We have heard several speeches by Buhari and they all sound similar. I will rather prefer a presidential parley, in which his ministers are also available to give score card and answer questions from the public as part of independence day celebrations. Do you agree? |
The ease at which lives are lost in Nigeria baffles me. Are we in animal Kingdom, even in animal kingdom those above in the food chain are also careful too of not ending in another belly. |
bejeria101:In that vain you owe Nigeria nothing. |
bazkid24:We are celebrating independence from external colonisation and dependence on internal colonisation. You get it now? |
The mother is aging and must have convinced him to join her in politics. I only hope he stands for what is right as a person. Imo state my constituency need brilliant minds to lead the state and Nigeria as a whole. I wish him good luck. |
"Better to love Nigeria from outside" She is spot on. I have friends who left the shores some 12 years ago, they are done building their private homes in the their villa and are now buying up properties in the city. It is no easy down there but if you are focused and hardworking, you will surely have a decent live. In Nigeria, it like pouring water to basket, waste of effort and time. Every indices stands against you whether as an entrepreneur or employee. No electricity, business killing bank loan interest rate, multiple taxation, bad road, disillusioned work force, unstable government policies etc As an employee, harsh work environment, low take home, low motivation, Shylock employment terms, porous labour laws etc. We were thought that Saving = Investment. How can you invest when all earning are spend on providing those items government should provide; quality school for the kids, electricity, private security, good home. etc The economic would not grow without a vibrant middle class. |
When you vote in people who has no pedigree working in government or private companies, this is what you get. Take a look at Ebonyi and Anambra governors, these are men who have achieved recognition in their professional field. The professional discipline impact so much on quality and style of government. The experience in managing man & resources counts. What is Okorocha's professional pedigree? What companies or resources has he managed? How did he make his wealth? Who are his contemporaries? When people make money by being close to government we term them successful and give them the right to manage our lives without any interrogation on the ability to do that. Same way he is trying to force his son in-law. Uche Nwosu on the people. A man without any pedigree in any thing. Can Okorocha publish the names of the contractors and contract worth of those public utilities? No Okorocha is a disease, that is gradually killing the mental ability and self pride of Ndi Imo. Imolite should think very well before voting in another charlatan as governor. |
Ekitimadman:Going by you position, it will also acceptable if all south south states are PDP, or all south east states are APGA or PDP. Because the governors do also have regional meeting to discuss common goals And there will be no need for ÀPC to try using state apparatus to gain leadership in those state abi? Performance is relative, the man in river or akwa ibom will also claim to have performed or that PDP have performed over the years. Mind you Lagos is an exception otherwise, Lagos would not have asked for special status. |
stalwart123:Food don land for lawyers |
The minister is evening congratulating you and I for our long years of docility. Either we die to correct this country by revolution or we die in docility and our offspring continue in servitude. The choice is yours. This grave yard peace, driven by corrupt politicians using state law enforcement agencies will collapse one day soon if we continue in this part. And surprisingly, majority are comfortable with the grave yard peace. We always have an excuse. A vision less man will always be comfortable with the status quo. No wonder, nobody want to tinker with our socio political and economic structure to suit our need. Same basic issues the likes of Fela fought since late 70s are same issues today, it is even worst. Wake up my country men and stand up for something. There is nothing to congratulate anyone for because we are still not independent. Only thinking minds will understand. |
Useless order. What is Nigeria policy on expatriate quotas? Who monitors this quotas? Do government workers do their job? Can government agencies work like private companies, target oriented? The government makes it so easy for this people to come into the country without any stringent local labour protection requirements all in the name of encouraging FDI to the detriment of Nationals. This people will always come if the potential are there. It like sugar to ant. The government need to first encourage internal rediscovery, Internal investment. The institutions need to work, not single executive order like this one. They will employ the 6 and bring in 12 more Chinese. Until people are held responsible for positions they hold. My country people should forget any change in this country. |
Which kind wahala be this, we are not out of the flood incidences in some states in Nigeria, now na earthquake we wan begin worry about. Is bad governance not enough disaster for Africa. God please save us. |
docadams:This phenomena exist, but the rate in Nigeria is worrisome. No quality medical system in Nigeria. No facilities, best doctors are leaving the country on daily basis. The teaching hospitals are over stretched. The president and family members get treated abroad. Yet some thoughtless individuals are out insulting others and ready to kill for those who have subjected them and the society to most callously condition. |
Stationery stores FC legend. A no nonsense defender and they called him barbwire because he always leaves a mark on opponent players, even his team mates in training are not spared. RIP Collin Ebitimi I know most persons in this platform will not have seen this guy in action at the onikan water front. The quality of live in Nigeria is really getting worst each year, can anybody point out what is good in Nigeria now? Life is full of struggle, no light, no water, no affordable quality education or health care system, no good housing system. In the neatest future 54yrs will be see as " he don try". My aged uncle and his wife who are in US are looking younger compared to their surviving age mate in Nigeria. Those folks would have died long ago were they in Nigeria. God bless my hustle make I for fit leave this country for holiday for as much period as I want. |
It was all a show of power by Okorocha but the court has spoken. The court did not only over rule the impeachment but also berated the state Chief Justice and attorney general for such unlawful process. Is this not corruption? It will also be right to know those " Dishonourables" in state house of assembly who voted for the impeachment of the deputy governor without due process. They should also be voted out because they made themselves a willing tool in the hand of the governor. |
Madam since you know so much how come no politician or their errand boys had been prosecuted? |
I am not impressed with those calling Buhari names and praising Osinbajo. They are a team. Osinbajo can do nothing if his captain does not permit it . And my question is in all the crisis area where the VP has visited and made promises and order, which has been fulfilled or carried out. From the ND clean up to IDP camps to Apapa evacuation order, which have been fulfilled? I am really surprised that prof who was a voice in the call for restructuring of the country is today preaching something else. I hope when another party takes over this bunch of scammers will not start advocating for something they did not believe in. |
Newboss:Interesting, I get you better now. We will gradually get to that level when we design and conceptualize our products. This is just one individual trying to do something. In the short run he seem to get all design & research input from china. But I look forward to better auto industry in Nigeria like in SA that even produce OEM and assemble as well. |
