so cos she dresses in comfy dresses in hernown house means she is tempting u; means she is making passes at you? its all in your mind bro. One piece of advice for u; grow up. ![]() |
Emperoh: I haven't done BMW that much, but i think i can give this a try given my experience with 3.5 liter V6 on toyota; Avalon, Camry and Sienna.formula 1 cars get up to 360km/hr and take bends at speeds of up to 150km/hr. They are three times lighter than the camry and yet never fly off at the bends. How u take a bend depends a lot on ur anticipation, your driving skill (accelerating into/out of a turn; braking into/in a turn), tyres, road conditions (gravel road or tarred road) and lastly guts (lots of it). Some drivers can takes risks with a fiat you wouldn't dare take with a merc. |
I have done the modification. Fitted the spacers which were a bit difficult to find. Took the car (a 2.4 litre camry i4 2002 model) for a road trip during the easter break. The performance was slightly improved although this was really noticeable at high revs. Easily got to 140 and 160 and found it a bit easier going uphill along the enugu ph portion of the highway. I calculated my fuel consumption and it was about 24.4 miles per gallon. Thats roughly 10.4 kilometers per liter. Sounds good i guess. I floored the pedal this time around so the figures arent as good as i had hoped. I usually keep to a hundred but wanted to push the car a bit this time around and test the modification. Will post the city mpg figures later. Cheers. |
@madafa, u sure this figures (Fuel economy with a/c: 22.2L/km Fuel economy with open windows, sunroof and no a/c: 18.5L/km) are correct? isn't 22.2 litres per kilometer ![]() |
there was a post here some days ago about blocked catalysts causing high fuel consumption. have your mechanic check ur catalyst to make sure it isnt blocked and choking ur engine. However scan the car first like ikenna suggested. |
http://www.gizmag.com/the-100-most-reliable-cars-of-the-last-decade-in-order/5657/ In these pages we focus on design, breakthroughs, enabling technologies and concepts and it's rare that we look at product that has been in the marketplace for some time, much less second-hand product. But when we saw what UK company automotive warranty company was up to, we know you'll agree that it's worth a mention. As a privately owned insurance intermediary, the firm collects lots of data about warranty issues – something you'll never find out from the only other people who have access to the information (the manufacturers). In a very clever move, it has taken this secondary data and produced a reliability index – an independent comparison of frequency of failure across the 55,000 vehicles it insures. Read on for a list of the 100 most reliable used cars over the past decade. And before you take a peek, have a guess at where the best Japanese, German, Swedish, British, Korean and French-built cars will rank. You won't even come close! Firstly, the company is Warranty Direct, and their reliability index can be found here. Secondly, congratulations to the Honda Accord which ranked at number one, and to Honda, Nissan and Toyota who all managed two cars in the top 10. Thirdly, congratulations to the Japanese automotive industry which supplied every car in the Top 10, and an amazing 16 of the Top 20. The highest placed non-Japanese model was the British built Jaguar X-Type in 13th with the mighty German automotive industry first appearing at number 25. Volvo's S/V40 was the highest placed Swedish manufacturer in 15th, with the nation's most popular manufacturer, Ford, delivering its best ranked model, the Ka, in 22nd. Hyundai's Lantra was the pick of the Koreans and the Citroen Xsara was the best-placed French model at number 26. And a very special mention to Toyota - Toyota has an ambition to become the world's largest motor company and on the results of this survey, it fully deserves to get there. It scored as well as any other manufacturer in the top ten cars with two contenders, but also took eleventh spot with the Lexus IS 200, fourteenth with the Landcruiser, 19th with the Carina E, and 21st with the Lexus 400 - six cars in the top 21 represents a fantastic effort but a look down the list confirms what we'd always suspected - they have been building the most reliable cars for a long time - long product lines such as the Celica and Corolla are also there. Those cars have been produced for 30 years in vast numbers - it's not just one very reliable model here and there - . "Obviously reliability is not the main reason why someone might choose one model over another, but it is still an important consideration for the majority," says Duncan McClure Fisher of Warranty Direct. "However, used car buyers are considerably more cautious. Japanese models may not be the most charismatic but you're unlikely to spend a great deal of money and time in the garage keeping it on the road." Just a note to ensure fairness - cars with extended warranties are unlikely to appear on this list, for obvious reasons. As some manufacturers offer such schemes across the range, they will also be under-represented. The 10 most reliable cars according to Warranty Direct: 1.Honda Accord - A classy package, well put together and feels more special than the average family car. Superb engines and value for money. 2.Subaru Forester - Not quite an off roader, much more than an estate with a sporty edge, making it the perfect combination. Great all round buy. 3.Mazda MX-5 - Blueprint for the modern roadster with sweet handling and engines to match. Extremely easy to live with. 4.Mitsubishi Carisma - Despite the name, not that interesting to look at or drive, but that's not the point. Here is a no-nonsense hatchback that won't let you down. 5.Toyota Yaris - Superminis don't come better. Bags of room and perky engines. Probably the best small car buy. 6.Honda Civic - Solid build quality and good engines are just part of the appeal, the Civic is one of the most spacious small cars around. Great value. 7.Nissan Almera - A dull package, but that's no reason to dismiss the Almera which is practical and perfect for the smaller family who need a big boot and utter reliability. 8.Honda CR-V - Proof that you don't need an XXXL 4x4. Here is a four-wheel drive estate that is flexible, easy to drive and own. 9.Toyota RAV4 - So few four-wheel drives are fun to drive. This car is suitably sporty, but very practical. Expensive used buy but worth it. 10.Nissan Micra - The driving school favourite. Tough, fairly roomy, but with its light controls is easy to steer around town. The Warranty Direct Top 100 Most Reliable Used Cars Of The Past Decade 1.Honda Accord 2.Subaru Forester 3.Mazda MX-5 4.Mitsubishi Carisma 5.Toyota Yaris 6.Honda Civic 7.Nissan Almera 8.Honda CR-V 9.Toyota RAV4 10.Nissan Micra 11.Lexus IS 200 12.Mazda 626 13.Jaguar X-Type 14.Toyota Landcruiser 15.Volvo S/V40 16.MINI (BMW) 17.Suzuki Vitara 18.Mazda 323 19.Toyota Carina E 20.Saab 9-5 21.Lexus LS400 22.Ford Ka 23.Rover 45 24.Hyundai Lantra 25.Mercedes SLK 26.Citroen Xsara 27.Ford Cougar 28.Subaru Impreza 29.Skoda Octavia 30.Audi A4 31.Nissan Primera 32.Toyota Avensis 33.Volvo 850 34.Vauxhall Corsa 35.Seat Toledo 36.Volkswagen Golf 37.Daewoo Lanos 38.Fiat Brava 39.Hyundai Coupe 40.Mitsubishi Shogun 41.Rover 25 42.Mercedes CLK 43.Fiat Marea 44.Ford Focus 45.Peugeot 106 46.MG MG TF 47.BMW Z3 48.Hyundai Accent 49.Volkswagen Polo 50.Fiat Punto 51.Vauxhall Zafira 52.Mercedes C-class 53.Volvo S60 54.Toyota MR2 55.Mazda Xedos 6 56.Ford Puma 57.Vauxhall Astra 58.Vauxhall Omega 59.Chrysler Neon 60.Audi A2 61.Ford Fiesta 62.Ford Mondeo 63.Vauxhall Corsa 64.Citroen Saxo 65.BMW 3 Series 66.Vauxhall Vectra 67.Isuzu Trooper 68.Mercedes M-Class 69.Subaru Legacy 70.Rover 400 71.Fiat Ulysse 72.Mercedes E-Class 73.Renault Clio 74.Toyota Celica 75.Peugeot 306 76.Peugeot 406 77.Volvo S70 78.Rover 75 79.Daewoo Matiz 80.Peugeot 206 81.Mazda MX-3 82.Vauxhall Tigra 83.Seat Ibiza 84.Peugeot 106 85.Renault Megane 86.Peugeot 406 87.Saab 9-3 88.Audi A3 89.BMW X5 90.Mercedes S-class 91.Toyota Corolla 92.Seat Alhambra 93.BMW 5-series 94.Daewoo Nubira 95.Alfa Romeo 145 96.Saab 900 97.Mazda MX-6 98.Jaguar S-Type 99.Daewoo Leganza 100.Porsche Boxster |
King777, if you really want the help of the gurus here, u have to give them hard facts. next time u refill ur tank, reset your trip meter. Set it to zero. After a few hundred kilometers/ miles, refill ur tank and calculate how much fuel u have used so far. use that figure to calculate ur kilometers per liter or miles per gallon and then post to the house. U can actually post all the details here. Sometimes, people assume their cars are thirsty when in actual fact, nothing is wrong with their cars. Please check and confirms that ur odometer is in kilometers and not in miles. Most american used cars use miles instead of kilometers. Cheers. |
Jopac: Op y U̶̲̥̅̊ come put d plate number Ω̴̩̩̩̥α? Abi U̶̲̥̅̊ no no say Ω̴̩̩̩̥α where person dey work him dey chop. Do U̶̲̥̅̊ want d man 2 b sacked. Pls let's b considerate atimes a̶̲̥̅̊₪d̶̲̥̅̊ mind wat we post.Let me tell you a few things that could happen as a result of that mans action. 1. He could run out of diesel while on a steep incline; his truck as a result will likely roll back and cause an accident. 2. The result could result in an ignition of the flammable products he has on board his truck and u can imagine what would happen. 3. he could run out of diesel in the middle of the road and park there. The vehicle would become a hazard to other road users who might run into the vehicle and become engulfed in flames. (Sadly a friend of mine met his demise this way). So get ur damned head out of ur anus and put ur grey matter to use. Its not until he sells a full tanker before u can apprehend him and prosecute him. He is actually stealing from his employer. |

chikasin, i used a friends obd scanner. The funny thing is, my car goes off whenever i try to scan it. I have given up scanning it. However, have u done the checks i advised you to do? Do those before u buy the plugs |

has your lil modification affected your fuel economy or performancein any way? Experts, what are your opinions on this? is it okay? |
chikasin4: pls how much did u buy d iridium plug, and also ur obd scanner. Thank uThe iridium plugs cost about 2k each. Might be cheaper in lagos. Some people buy belgium plugs for as low as 100 naira but i woulndt advice that. it might be about 1500 in lagos. |
Seems likely you are running on three cylinders instead of four. Check ur plugs, coils and plug wires. Check ur fuel lines too (fuel filter) and clean out your air filter. |
it doesnt really lift your car that much. Probably a gain of one inch. however, using longer shocks might do the trick. it did on mine. ![]() |
why was the check engine light disabled? |
your spark plugs are not double tipped. the recommended spark plug for ur car is iridium tipped. it should be either an ik 20 or sk20r11 or pk20tr11. these spark plugs are all iridium tipped and long lasting and are the manufacturers recommended plugs. You might want to check your air flow meter and change ur air filter and fuel filter (if your car has one). also check your coils and coil cables. check ur exhaust effluent to see if it gives off black or white smoke when u rev the engine while the vehicle is parked or ask a friend to tail you while u r driving to see if the car belches black or white smoke. If it does, then u know ur car isnt really burning up fuel efficiently. Another thing to check is fuel leaks. look for droplets when u start ur car and when u have parked. smell the air for fuel fumes and ur engine bay as well. good luck. let us know if we can be of more help if the above tips doesnt fish out the problem. |
Does your car show any symptoms of being faulty? Does it give out black or white smoke when u accelerate? (you can tell a close friend to trail u and observe or u can park the car and have someone rev it slightly while u observe the tail pipe). Does it idle roughly? When u r stopped in traffic, where does your needle point to on the rpm instrument display? Answers to these questions might help us narrow down the cause of ur fuel issue. cheers. 2.2 is a small engine compared to what most cars come with these days. My 2.4 litre engine still does 19 mpg. I have a lightfoot by the way. ![]() |
Ikenna351: I drove straight to Shoprite, in Enugu town.Ur calculation was a bit off. its actually 7.7 km per liter of fuel. still pretty okay though considering its a v6. |
those robbers do not possess more sophisticated weapons as u opined. The problem with our police force is that they are poorly trained. Some of them dont even know that their rifles need to be cleaned periodically and cant even disassemble those guns without shooting themselves in the leg or accidentally killing some innocent person. Dont even get me started about their incompetence when it comes to prosecuting cases. i weep for my country. |

Bidam: let the scripture also speak for itself on this matter...That which paul was talking about i believe was not TITHE! He was talking about offerings. Offerings you give out of free will. He wasnt talking about any ten percent bruhaha. Please. Be properly guided. ![]() |
OLAADEGBU: It's no surprise why topics like these makes it to the front page. There are two camps. Let's see what camp posters fall into in this passage:judas wanted the ointment sold for selfish reasons. He was the cash bearer. He was probably the only one who will ever know how much out of that three hundred the needy will receive. now isnt there a similarity in that with what the pastors do today? have they ever given u an account for the tithes u pay (instead of give)? (arent you even supposed to get receipts for payments? ) . Now christ clearly gave reasons why the womans actions were justified. HE WONT BE WITH THEM FOREVER BUT THE POOR WILL ALWAYS BE! YOUR PASTOR IS NOT CHRIST! THE POOR ARE EVERYWHERE AROUND YOU NOW! GIVE TO THEM! |

they should have demanded for police report before treating those police men. Whats good for the goose should be good for the gander as well. they forget that the criminals they let loose on us after settlement can as well harm them. |
i think you should leave the o/d on when driving under normal conditions. when towing or carrying a heavy load and you need power rather than speed, you turn it off. That is my humble opinion though. The more knowledgeable peeps can correct me if i am wrong though. ![]() |
i am not qualified yet to contribute to this thread. though i am very glad to learn a few tips here. Nice one, keep it coming peeps. |
