If you found the zdx a bit cramped, you'd also find rx350 a bit cramped. Try the highlander. It's more roomy. Lots of leg room. The mdx isn't too bad either but it's only got better headroom over the zdx. Difference in leg room isn't much in both. The ml500 seems to have enough leg room. A friend with about your height if not drives one and has never complained about leg room. |

AmuDimpka: it is I have driven it ...EOD , very light Kindly explain what you mean. 1.is it that when the EOD gets to speeds above 120km/hr, the manufacturers stated mass of the vehicle defies laws of physics and changes ? 2. Are you talking about steering feedback? 3. Are you talking about vehicle traction? 4. Are you talking about oversteer or understeer? 5. Are you talking about the inability of the EOD to generate enough down force to give its tires more traction? 6. How many g's does the EOD pull during a slalom test? You do realise the EOD has a higher ground clearance and driver position than the c class of the same year? Ever seen a go-cart with the driver literally millimeters off the ground? Do you think any sedan will ever feel as planted to the ground as a go-cart? You do realise a go cart is about ten times lighter than a sedan and will take corners in ways no sedan can? You sound like me when I was 6 years old. By the time, you are done answering me all these, maybe you'd know better. |

bukatyne: You realize that the error is all yours for not choosing well.
For that, you are half way there.
You mentioned that you married in the Church: brother you know that except adultery and I will say abuse, you can't divorce your wife.
You have tried counseling, reporting her to family etc. etc. and it has not worked.
Now, I want you to try changing your reaction to her attitude. You have been married long enough to 'predict' her actions/inactions.
She forgot your birthday, fine. Celebrate yourself. Go out with the kids, go out with your friends etc.
She tries to keep malice, apologize and move on.
I know it is hard, it is abnormal even however you need to build a shield in your heart so that her attitude doesn't get to you anymore.
Don't beg or cajole her to 'change' or 'be better' or whatever: you are telling her that she has power over you.
Thank God finances are not a thing: treat your self, go on vacations, do the certifications or courses you wanted to. Channel your emotions into the things you have always wanted to do, pick up new hobbies, go to gym and workout youf frustrations etc.
And prayers work: if not for her to change, for you to be whole mentally and emotionally.
It is well. OP, follow this advice. Stay strong |

GoodGovernance: He is very correct.
You should probably replace him at the driving school.
2 wrongly initiated its overtaking at a bend, obviously, for it to have gained a parallel position with the vehicle 4.
3's case is too glaring, overtaking over a solid line, whether it saw the other ''overtaker'' coming or not.Perhaps got confused with the two guys at the back(or is it mere picture?) at the back of vehicle 1.
If the two guys facing us at the back are real, then vehicle 1 too should share in the fault. You need to go back to driving and take comprehension lessons too. Nigeria needs help I swear. |

yungboss: The Infiniti g35/37 is faster than both the 330i and the 328i, they are both easier to live with than the 335i (as you already know). I desire one of those turbocharged engines beyond the 750li ownership. What about the f30 328i for example? though 4cyl turbo...it is faster than the e90 330i and 328i. Truth is, non of these cars' performance will be underwhelming for you, they are finely balanced cars with responsive throttle. Maintenance of BMWs is what I have been used to so if I replace certain things like water pump, sort out cooling issues, I wouldn't consider it a problem...but coming from a g35/37, which perhaps might not need those sort of repairs, you may find it a bid burdensome. People sort of have different tolerance levels, I'm tolerant with the little headaches I experience, so my advice might be really subjective but I guess you understand these things... I have a soft spot for BMW's. I was half expecting you to go balls out in their defence but you were very objective in your analysis. Well done. I hope a few people learn how write like you. Nice rides. When the coast is clear, I won't mind an E46 six cylinder manual. Always loved that car. To the op who wants to buy the c300, it's not a bad car. One of its biggest issues has already been mentioned here. It's not a death sentence and having 500k in reserve for the rainy day applies to even the corolla you mentioned. If the transmission or engine goes south on any of those cars, you'd need about the same amount to get it back on the road. The car is quite common now so the knowledge in fixing it abounds. |

adanny01: I concur, tire life should be measured in miles not years. I never did measure since at the time of buying new tires, i always feel like am not gonna a tire for 2 or more years which will be hard to keep record. I ended up needing a tire 1 year later in most cases.
I got the car at 100k and have 220k now, so I used it for 120kmiles in 6 years. The 1st year am sure was less than 10k since i was using another car. I have used it less in the past 1yr so can be said to be 10-15k. So the middle 4years am sure to have clocked 25-30kmiles/yr. I worked in Abj with family in Kaduna, I did a return trip every weekend. In Abj, it was 60km/day. Nice. Decent tyres usually cover about 30-40k miles before wearing out. Some go over 60k miles before requiring replacement. Stay safe on those roads man. Seems my Waka Waka days are behind me. |

adanny01: My ThreeA wore out completely in 1yr and yours did 6 yrs. Imagine the difference.
I put the same three A on 2 cars, the 2nd car was small and never traveled. The car had 3 ThreeA and 1 Hifly bought same day. The 3 wore out and were obviously expired by the 4th year and leaving the Hifly in far better shape and thread.
The thread wore out completely on both cars leaving other brands. After the ThreeA i used starfire which wore out in 1½years. Then I bought tokumbo grade 1 Michelin. These ones did 2 years but unfortunately both tires blew out same day (what a coincidence and my first blowout). Before the threeA was Maxtrek, worst tire ever. This one, the tire had loss.its shape in less than 6months and was impossible to use with a very good thread. My father bought the same Maxtrek and all 3 were messed up in 6 months. Before Maxtrek was double king, the first tire on this car, then I wasn't using the car so much. But when I started using the car, the tires were through in less than 1 year. I spent a fortune on wheel balancing once the tire reached 6 months. Adany01, you be pilot 1 oo. I hail. You must cover upwards of 20k miles every year. I think how long tires last should be based on how many miles they cover before they lose their threads. Not necessarily how many years. That is assuming they don't go out of round or develop cracks or blow out before the threads wear out. I've used double king in the past. One out of three went out of round in less than a month. Never really covered many miles on them before I sold the car. However, I noticed I was frequently balancing the tires. They love to bounce. |

Newboss: Well, going by your logic, in 10 years, the 80m will have a value of zero. Does that make any sense to you? Let me make it clearer to you. In the early 80's a brand new Volkswagen car sold for about N4,000. If someone left 4000, in the bank, from 1985 to 2020, would it still be able to buy a brand new Kia Rio? Assuming the money was fixed with 10% interest yield per year? I hope it makes sense now. I am not against fixed deposit or any other form of investment. Just pointing out that it has its own shortcomings too. |
Car Talk › Re: Total Value Of Your Cars Relative To Your Net Worth by 9icetoo(m): 3:56pm On Apr 30, 2020 |
Newboss: FGN Bond pays at least 10% a year. Put that 80m there you get at least 8m every year while the 80m remains untouched. If you think that's not enough, then you're very greedy. Inflation rate is more than 11%. That 80 million will be worth less than 70million in a years time. |

Hi Gazzuzz, Posting this here so it may also benefit others. Due to lock down, I had some time to look at the performance of my cars. Car is a 2011 Kia cerrato. Auto. The car stays in open loop no matter how long I drive or idle No error codes. No check engine light. My scanner says 'open loop due to insufficient engine temperature". Fan is factory. Thermostat was replaced last year with an 87 deg thermostat. Any ideas what the problem could be? Car starts and idles fine. Although every once in a while it will act as if it misfired for a second in one cylinder. This happens randomly. |

Unless the clutch power is direct which is never a factory case. We all know a lot of AC out there aren't factory connections anymore. That's why I ask. I've come across across a car that won't start if the AC was on. The crank speed would be severely reduced. |

valarinz: Bro, each time i go to the East (with unregistered cars) i spend well over 20k on police/customs settlement.
Don't know your routes, but once you turn right at Sagamu bypass to face Benin express the nightmare starts, police checkpoints almost every 2km stretch.
Now, we're all different, I can't leave my house 4am and want to still be on the road by 6pm, all cos i let police delay me over #200 settlements. If you don't want to pay, of course you won't pay, its all about scale of preference, which do you value more, your money or your time.
Calculate multiple #200 payments and FSARS will tell you they won't collect anything below #500, refuse and you'll be delayed. Imagine when 20 checkpoints take 30 mins each away from your journey, won't be funny I couldn't have said it better. Well said. |

You can still drive your new car for a certain period before the registration process is concluded and I don't think it's less than a month. Ignorance? Somehow, somewhere, it has been suggested that sometimes, money is parted with. Papers being complete? In an unregistered Tokunbo car? You think those policemen are there to look at papers? If they sense you are a newbie, they park you. If they haven't made enough money for the day or one degenerate and overzealous newbie is in their team, they will park you. People pay not because they don't have the papers but because they do not want their time wasted. You think a courier wants to spend two days delivering a car to ph or Abuja? As per customs, if you like pay your duty in full, if you like underpay, those boys for Benin go collect something unless you are a known regular or know people and have better connect on your phone. Else, you must drop. They see it as their entitlement. Read my posts, I travel regularly. Very regularly. |

1. Is the check engine light on when car in being driven? If yes, scan and post results. 2. Does engine shut down on its own sometimes? 3. If it does, does the car start right back or do you have to wait for a few hours? 4. When trying to restart car, does the engine crank (does it revolve)? 5. If it does revolve, is it fast or does it feel strained? 6. Can you get someone to check how hot the positive battery terminal is when attempting to restart car? If you can compare this to how hot it gets when engine can be started normally when cold. 7. Replace your ignition/starter motor relay. It's a cheap shot at resolving problem. 8. Is your AC on while attempting to restart engine? Consider turning it off if it is. I've encountered this problem before. 9. If none of the above resolves your problem, then the gurus here will most likely delve into fuel and electrical or electronic issues. 7. |

lexini: thanks Nurey, as always
my concern is that, my wife has an es 350 right now and i feel if i get the rx, i'd eventually get bored of the brand - as per driving same brand everyday. the mdx is the only vehicle that comes close in terms of size and luxury - that's why i'm considering it.
i don't want to depart from toyota/honda The mdx is bigger than the rx. It seats 7 people and still has ample boot space even the third row seat up. I prefer the interior of the mdx. It's better laid out. If you have a big family, the mdx might suit you better. If you have a small family and don't haul a lot while travelling, I suggest you go for the rx. The rx is also cheaper to maintain as you don't have to change water pump, timing belt, tensioner and all other associated costs involved with the mdx when the timing belt is due. Also you won't get the timing belt surprise when least expected. |

lexini: Hi
Considering the 2009/2010 Acura mdx.
Can u pls share your experience using an mdx So far so good. Maintenance is easy so far. Things replaced: 1. Front discs and pad (heavy braking caused them to warp). Cheap compared to other cars 2. Starter motor (kick starter) . Note, the previous one worked but made a high pitched noise after starting vehicle which to me was a sign all wasn't well with it. Very cheap. 3. Rear wiper engine (casing cracked one fateful day. Don't know what caused it. Replaced myself). 4. New rim And tyre for spare (hated the donut spare that comes with the car) 5. Front and rear shocks (effects of travelling frequently with full family. Our highways aren't very friendly to suspension components. Still good though but didn't feel as when car came in). All in all, everything Spent so far is less than 120k. Fuel economy is not bad. In Lagos consumption is between 12mpg to 14mpg. Best I ever got from highway driving was 18mpg (note this is with car fully loaded with wife kids and personal effects.) Now the interesting part.... The interior is well made and laid out. No noise unless at high speeds of about 120km/hr. That's when you start hearing some road noise in the cabin. Faint though. Acceleration is superb. If you want to really squeeze out all the HP available, throw in a bottle or two of octane boosters to half tank, step on the right pedal and smile and the roar from the 300+ engine. The shawd come in handy as well. It's the best in class. During my travels, it has got me out of a few tight corners and places especially the ph-enugu stretch of road. Very ridiculous road especially the ABA section. Never ever got stuck. Hardly any wheel spin. Gets in and out of rough terrain like an awd should. The entertainment package is awesome too. The Roof mounted DVD Keeps the kids busy on long journeys while the sound system is awesome. In all, it's a wonderful car. |
