Pay attention to "non-indigene" which means that this attack was most likely an ethnically motivated attack. The news story is biased and unwilling to call a spade a spade because it doesn't fit the one-sided victim narrative we are used to hearing. What tribe does the "non-indigene" community that was attacked belong to exactly?

Before people start to shout RUGA without reading the important details. This model is not like the tribe-centric RUGA of the federal government, but a PRIVATE BUSINESS that's working with the Lagos state government to lease land to operate a ranch that will employ local people in the area. This is how cattle farming is done in more developed nations like Brazil, USA and Australia.

Politics / Re: List Of Muslims That Have Held Top Government Positions In Southeast Since 1999 by 9jakool: 3:54am On Jul 14, 2022
KingofAnambra:
In the Southeast, there has never been any
- Muslim Governor *NEVER
- Muslim deputy Governor *NEVER
- Muslim Speaker of house of Reps *NEVER
- Muslim Deputy Speaker *NEVER
- Muslim Attorney General *NEVER
- Muslim Commissioner *NEVER
- Muslim Local government chairman *NEVER

since 1999 when democracy started till today.

Yet we Igbos are the ones championing all kinds of hate and propaganda against Muslim/Muslim ticket of Tinubu/Shettima but in our own region, we only vote Christian/Christian ticket, even when there are Igbo Muslims among us. We hate hate and ostracize them completely. Then you have the guts to say nobody should vote for Muslim/Muslim ticket?

Even Kaduna that is a core Muslim state has had Christian Governor and Christian deputy governor before since 1999, and Christians holding several major political posts across the North.

Nigerian Muslims wake up now and vote for Tinubu /Shettima for presidency 2023. Don't let Muslim haters blackmail you with lies. Defend your religion. Being a Muslim is not a crime.

Sincerely,
Igbo Christian man from Nnewi, Anambra!
While I cannot speak to the treatment of Igbo muslims in the SE, it's not a fair comparison to compare the North to the SE as the North is not nearly as religiously homogenous as the SE. Muslims make up less than 1% in the SE while both NE and NW have sizable christian population.

Kaduna is a terrible example to make your case as a "core muslim" state, because Kaduna has at least 40% Christian population, so Kaduna having Christian representation is not out of the ordinary and completely in line giving its demographics breakdown. Also, not too long ago the christians of that state were complaining about the muslim/muslim ticket of the governor/deputy governor. There was also concerns about it would be a continuation of the neglectful response to the Southern kaduna herdsmen crisis.

Lastly, I also used to think zoning along regional/ethnic/religious line was not as relevant as long as the person running is qualified and has good ideas. I'm now realizing that this notion is not in line with reality giving the parameters of the Nigerian state. Buhari is a good case study because of his terrible handling of the Fulani headsmen crisis, his indifference to End SARS tragedy, amnesty and sympathy to Boko haram members, and the sidelining of his VP as he surrounds himself with his Northern buddies.

I would like to get to a point where religion and tribe would not matter as much in electing a candidate, but Nigeria is nowhere there yet. In the end there will always be tribalism and biases that would cloud the judgement of elected politicians.

Black Africans are too docile and cowardly! This is what our Politicians deserve! Invade their residences and maim each an every one of them and their families. From grassroot Politicians to the top ones. angry

Political uprisings in Africa always end up targeting the poor and the defenseless. If there was an uprising that ONLY specifically targets politicians and their families while making demands for provisions that help the people, watch how fast things will turn around. Politicians will only do the right thing when they have to live in constant fear of the people. That's the way it should be. Meanwhile in Nigeria, it's the people who are living in constant fear of crackdown by the authorities.

The Sri Lankans are smart aiming for the jugular by targeting the politicians responsible for their suffering. That's the power people have! Enough with this yes sir, yes ma respectability politics which only aims to infantilize and subdue the psyche of the common people so they won't revolt against their oppressors.

Politics / Re: Relist Nigeria As A Violator Of Religious Freedom, US Senators Write Biden by 9jakool: 4:34pm On Jul 02, 2022
Nigerians shooting themselves in the foot as usual. Yes, the country does not guarantee religious freedom, but America cannot be the savior you want and that's the fight Nigerians will have to fight themselves.

You should not be begging for America to intervene in your affairs. if Nigeria is placed on the religious violator list, it could come with sanctions imposed which would only increase the price of goods, negatively impact the economy and hurt the common people.

That's how Western sections work. It's meant to put economic pressure on foreign governments. However, with a nonchalant government like Nigeria that doesn't care about its people, the sanctions would not have any intended effects and people would just suffer needlessly.

Western sanction is partly to blame for decimating the economy of Zimbabwe. Sometimes, foreign attention on domestic issues does not necessarily produce a net positive outcome.

What Lithuanian did is practically "an act of war".
The goods you sanctioned were not being traded or sale in your country, rather, the goods are being transported between the Russian mainland and the Russian enclave, Kaliningrad.
It's like Canada blocking American goods at the Alaska exclave from passing through Canada to America mainland.
These EU minions like Lithuanian is playing with extermination of everything they hold dear.
Russia will "remove the gloves" if Russia choose a military-technical to solve the partial blockade, if sense doesn't prevail on their insolence towards Russia.
No country has the explicit right to operate within the borders of a sovereign nation. It's a privilege to use the highways and infrastructure of another nation, which is why you as a country must deploy diplomacy to work with your neighbors and reduce hostility. This is Government 101. If America invade its neighbor Mexico tomorrow and Canada closes its border with Alaska, Canada will be 100% within its rights as a sovereign nation to do so.

False comparison. America foreign policy is not a reflection of the character of its citizens. OP is right. Nigerians are on average more religious, yet there is so much wickedness among the populous. There are criminals everywhere, but the difference most Americans aren't trying to swindle you, whereas in Nigerian it's the norm of the land and it's tagged "hustling". Most American citizens do not take corruption lightly, yet in Nigeria, people turn a blind eye on it and will even praise you for it because people worship wealth.

TV/Movies / Re: South Africans Are Asking Why In Nigerian Movies Everyone Is Christian by 9jakool: 7:10am On Jun 25, 2022
Well the movies that get the most international popularity are in English which are set in the South, which is why there is a perceived christian bias. Kannywood movies from largely muslim North tend to be in Hausa, so they will not get as much international spotlight. Movies in Yoruba, which can show both christians and muslims are more targeted towards a local audience.

They are the problem Nigeria is battling with today. A 45 years old butcher friend who is from the North told me he had 10 children and still counting.

The most annoying part is that they won't be able to afford to take care of the children they already have but still want more because it's "God's blessing" so they should have unlimited children. The same kids would then become financial burden, not attend school and become poor when they become adults restarting the cycle of generational poverty.

Is he not an investigative journalist, let him go and investigate Tinubu

After all Tinubu came out to give press statement that day that he is the owner of the content of the bullion van as a private citizen not holding any political office and he has decided to give people his money

It is left to Hudeyen to go to 26 Bourdillion drive Ikoyi to Investigate the masses that collected Tinubu's money, if he forced them to vote any party at his house

.
Only in Nigeria, can a so-called "private citizen" carry bouillon vans in broad daylight to his residence and is accepted by people as a normal "private citizen" thing.

Tinubu's attempt to justify it had red flags all over it since it's not normal even for very wealthy individuals to move huge amount of cash around in that manner unless they are into illicit activities like money laundering or trading drugs.

It's fascinating that the underclass of society who will probably remain poor for the rest of their lives are often the loudest supporter of the super rich who don't care for them.
Properties / Re: Lagos Begins Deconstruction Of Three Structures On Ikoyi Building Collapse Site by 9jakool: 4:54am On Jun 17, 2022
This is a good development. If the building were to be completed, it will be called "luxury" when the developers cut corners and sacrifice quality and structural integrity to save money. The same property will then be listed with exorbitantly high price tag. Luxury should be a universal standard no matter where you go, but even luxury in Nigeria is tacky due to the Nigerian factor.

Not to mention how bad the situation will be with the roads as congested as they are. Can the government even fund the budget or provide electricity for the opening and closing ceremonies? grin

Jonathan has always been a better deal. Incomparably so.

Many people clearly have selective amnesia because if I remember correctly, people were still complaining about electricity and Boko Haram was capturing territories left and right under GEJ. So GEJ and Buhari both contribute to letting terrorism fester and multiply in Nigeria. I am not giving GEJ any pass just because he was from the South or a little less terrible than Buhari. We have to be objective because people will continue to elect terrible leaders into power just because one person is not as terrible as another.
