jannies:
Whether she's cheating or not, I think she is trying to pass a message to you which is other guys are there to pamper her emotionally where you are not. If she is cheating on you to do that, it is obviously wrong, but then you need to sit her down and talk to her, don't trade blames but ask her why she is doing all these, and then step up your game as a man. Many men have the notion of 'she's already my wife'. 'she has no where to go' and so on and forget their wives still have emotional needs which causes such issues. Why would you take off your own wedding ring? And when she does same it's an issue? She is only trying to pass a message across to you but in a wrong way
Why not try showing her some love, go back to the way you guys were when you were dating her, and please don't say things are still the same like the way it was then, because that would be a lie of the century.. I hope this helps!
Another crappy advice, let's think about this. Wife wants to prove a point to her husband, so she flirts with another man, cooks for him and spills all her marital problems. If this is the way to resolve marital issues then 90% of marriages are in big trouble. Let's assume she didn't cheat, how would it look if the guy's family members or friends witnessed such occurrences? This is Africa, we need to forget all this mumbo jumbo western ideologies about love and emotional needs as an excuse for flirting. If a wife is feeling unloved the best and most sincere way to change things is to communicate with her husband, respect him enough to be open with him instead of playing childish games which jeopardizes the entire marriage!

Hello you all. I am his wife.but I am indeed glad he came here to pour his heart out. He doesn't like communicating with me that much, once he is upset u dont wanna be around me. You will pity me, he treats me unfair, he removes his ring at will and says he had a bad day and so it his wedding ring that caused it. You can take a look tru my profile. You would see just a little of my complaints. But now i get where the problem is. Funny enough I didn't know he had this topic here already cos I am not much of a nairaland person so if he didn't make front topic I won't have seen it. And it was even God that drew my attention here cos even front topic I don't read that much. Very very glad I did. Now o am not a cheating wife and would never ever till I die cheat. I would rather walk away. You see d gentle man who put this topic down, he doesn't talk much to me. If anything goes wrong with us, I could be talking for 3mins he will just increase the volume of his phone and start playing music. He can agree how any times in a day I ask him why he hates me so much. Cos he acts as such. Let me analyse the instances that made him think am cheating. My EX who was the first man I probably ever loved. Myself and my husband has had plenty issues on exes his exes sef just disappeared completely like a year back. My ex probably called me and we had a very clean and open convo. I tot to myself this is wrong jor. So I told him, my ex called me and he has always bin calling which is true. But very clean convo. He has Luke 3kids now and is happily married. The day u told my hubby my ex called me. He was just there like whatever, and I rem telling him that day you never get jealous of me. U should even ask me questions or something. If I keep talking without bin asked questions then something is wrong with me. God knows I felt hurt that he was neutral. And that night my husband decide to have phone intimacy with an old female friend to get back at me. I rem that Sunday Wen I saw it. I cried. I felt hurt d moment he said that's for Kipling in touch with ur ex. Then we went out, we spoke about it and it all got cleared, but I guess it didn't. Secondly he spoke about me removing my ring. Now this is me also.when I find out hubby always removes his ring often and blame it on bad days I join him. Right now none of us Is wearing a rjng; he as removed it again and thrown it away claiming another bad day and I joined in cos I don't undestand that ish again. Now the third case of cheating. He said o saved my ex's number yeah that's true and that becos I didn't want my husband to think otherwise cos I actually think he knows the guys number or have it saved somewhere. This guy is helping my lil brother gt a job with an oil firm. He is only helping.
When my husband saw this I felt so bad so so bad and I wish I had discussed it with him. But I tot he would pay me back painfully again so I decide to keep it away from him. The third blame is me cooking for a guy on the estate. The guy is a friend I met quiet alright. But God sees my heart I cooked it out of helping. His wife is overseas and d guy claimed to be broke, then also there was fuel scarcity he said he couldn't get fuel to buy. So he wanted me to help him with food. That faithful day, my husband's friend who also lives on the estate was home, my nanny and my two kids, so I asked him to give his opinion, and he said why not that the guy is an easy going person on the estate and for him to ask for food he must be In a bad state. We had some left over rice at home and I told hy nanny to go and give him. When my hubby came back that day I Had to find a way to explain to him. I wasnt too sure of his response, but to a certain extent d nan i know and the way he has bin treating me I tot he will say no big deal. But I got otherwise instantly I knew I had messed up, but how to fix it became a problem. He has called my dad on this matter. That old man is another man I fear the most after God. Tho I was scared of wat he will do to me. But I was rather glad. Cos I wanted to be free and be trusted again. The matter on ground is something that I know can ruin my home but now that he as spoken I believe and hope he learns to trust me. Now I understand d reason for the mean treatments. He doesn't like visiting marriage counselors, so smtimes we end our matters and issues arguing and no resolution. Am saying it world wide now. U am not cheating on my husband. I love him than anything else in the world. Appreciate him and would always honour him. His changes and behaviour towards me recently sort of got me changing to, but now I see where it's all coming from. God bless u nairaland at least he spoke here. But seriously, dear Nairalander's you can't give concluding opinions on a journey of 3years based on 650 words. U don't av any idea wat we both av bin Tru to just conclude that he divorces a woman u know nothing about based on the short story u heard. I am a woman who would do anything g to keep her home. I took steps that I had no clue I would regret. Now he doesn't trust me no one knows how that feels. Even when I go out for business he picks d lie from d truth and this hasn't bin making me go what I deserve. I hope and pray God fixes this for me.
You're full of shit! You and your husband need psychological evaluations by true professionals. Unless you are not African, I see no reason why you would cook for another man without your husband's permission. All other things can be forgiven but this particular one is a taboo, you said all you did was cook but obviously you have a heart to heart connection with this guy if you can go as far as to share your marital problems. He's not the one that needs to see a counselor, you do! You've been married a couple of years by now you should know the type of husband you've got, you should know his thoughts without him saying a word, stop giving the devil an open access to your marriage!

perry2020:
Good morning brother, sorry about ur plight, yes ur wife is wrong but have u thought of why she is actually "flirting".sometimes when things get very boring some women love to switch things up,checkout a new or an ex and see the lattest with men, ofcoz they will go on dates to nice places and be very confident talking to one another.now my question for you,
1.are u sure ur wife is not bored
2.do u still take her to nice places or u stopped because ur now married
3.do u still show her much love, buy her gifts, give her massages when she complains of being weak or tired or did you stop all the love because you now have her. These are the new things a new guy would definitely give her because he wants to get down with her but when she gets enough from you if she is contented there is nothing those guys will wana offer that will freak her.try to spark up ur relationship, ignite her feelings.
4.as som1 said earlier boundries, you failed to create boundries
5.you should give her the impression,ur her very best friend and she should be free to tell u any thing,if u guys re having issues and she doesn't want to talk physically she can whatsapp u and tell u exactly how she feels rather than tell an ex or a new guy.she needs to stop trusting people excessively in this country with the way things re going, what if the man's wife came in and met her in his kitchen and gave her the beating of her life or his relatives perhaps,or he kidnaps her or use her for rituals coz she barely knows him so well.yet she trusts him enough to go to his house and cook without telling u,if she had even cooked in ur house and called him to come pick it up and introduce him to u would have been better and would have even proven her innocent of cheating.
It's never too late,as some said set boundaries, tel her to stop every communication with any ex or the new guy or else she should go meet them. if she continues then threaten her with a divorce when it's beyond you and see her reaction,if she is unremorseful go further by calling a lawyer (just for shakara) so she will know ur serious,if she still loves you or wants the relationship she would change.i wish u d best.
I'm sorry but did you actually read what you posted? This is marriage and not some trumped up relationship. Absolutely no excuse for what the wife has done. You gave excuses such as boredom, lack of gifts, lack of dates but sincerely that's bullshit! All I see from what the guy has described so far is a woman who's not content with what she's got.

Tejuosho and other markets have been demolished and this one will not be different. This is not about Yorubaland or Igbo business this is about the filthy and unsafe environment called Ladipo market.

There's nothing new here, most Nigerian marriages are filled with some type of violence, it's the African way of dealing with poverty, stress and so on. Look at the situation carefully, beating over lotto, this is clearly a frustrated man. The man should be jailed immediately or the children taken away to child services but in Nigeria we all know there's no justice.

Please sir/madam, could you please throw more light on Bank Rate and the bearing it has with Forex? Because i understand it to mean The interest rate at which a nation's central bank lends money to domestic banks. It is also known as discount rate.

It could also refer to the interest rate at which banks lend money to their customers.

Foreign exchange rate is mainly driven by forces of demand and supply. For there to be a cut down in the volume of dollars supplied to importers by CBN, it invariably encourages hike in rate.

Most important is the fact that demand will not fall in the same direction as the supply because importers who trade on products that have near inelastic demand will keep importing regardless of the change in foreign exchange rate because they can pass the increase in cost of those products to buyers in the form of higher price.
Bank rate and discount rates are two different things. In terms of forex, money is exchanged between one currency to another. If pursued through the proper channels the rate at which the bank converts our currency to another is known as the bank rate. Most times this rate reflects that set by CBN. Black market are secondary channels where currencies are exchanged, due to the volatility and the amount of transactions in a day, the black market are able to offer exchange rates significantly better than the bank rates because of fewer restrictions.

Nigeria's problems are cosmetic? Seriously?

You can maintain your stance on women. But to conclude that marriage is no longer valued because women do not have value or don't value it? Why is the emphasis put on the women? So all American men still value marriage? Why can't the responsibility be shared by both men and women if marriage has failed so miserably in America?

"The laws and other factors highly favors the females over male in America and most of these women have become leaders instead of the men. They control everything, are highly opinionated and still wonder why men feel insecure around them."

What laws?

Second, there are so many employment contradictions between men and women: the median compensation of female CEOs in North American firms is 85% that of males, and in the largest firms it is 61%.* For each dollar earned by male managers, the female managers earn 79 cents.* Generally, speaking women do not earn as much men and do not hold positions of leadership in the same numbers as men do.* So I'm not sure where you're getting your information about women dominating everything. And if a man is intimidated and insecure when he witnesses a woman in a leadership position, I think that's the type of man that should be avoided at all costs.

*Schermerhorn Jr., John, Management, pg. 10 (2014).
You're still not getting it so I'll break it down for you. Point number 1: Women and man are not equals, they were never created as equals and will never be equals. A man's place is a position of leadership either inherently or superficially, when this position is taken away the man no longer functions at his best. The number one complaint from females in the USA is that men are not mature, they are not responsible, they are not eager to settle down but how can they when most American women are considered the head of the household. How can they when in any domestic dispute either verbally or physically the man is removed from the house and a blemish put on his record. How can they when divorce laws are so skewed in favor of the female that a man would rather result to violence than to get a divorce. I work with several women and they make great leaders but often we confuse our professional role with our personal role in life.

Point number 2: Which is the weaker sex? Male or Female? Contrary to popular beliefs that females are weaker, recent events suggests that the male sex is the weaker one. In a society like America, men are shying away from women due to the high rate of divorce in the country, most of these resulted from women abusing the power given to them by the law and men ultimately frustrated to the point that they become nothing but a shadow of themselves. In an attempt to create value by engaging in female empowerment and other feminist crap agenda most American women have created problems for themselves in terms of raising a happy family, juggling a full time job and keeping their spouse happy. The career minded ones have no control over their children and the full time housewives claim to be unfulfilled. men are starting to see that most of these females want to be their own boss and this directly conflicts with the submissive role women are meant to play in marriages. Now now when I say submissive I'm not talking about being a dunce and always yielding to the husband, no no no! I'm talking about allowing the man to lead, being courteous and supportive instead of dictating everything in the relationship and expecting the man to keep you happy at all times while neglecting his own happiness. Most Nigerian women are valued because they allow the natural flow of the marriage to exist. Most Nigerian marriages are guided by family and societal support, when one person is going wayward, it can be corrected most times by family intervention. In America however, most females successfully cut off not only the husband's family but their own, whenever issues arise most fail to work it out and before you know it they are in court seeking a divorce. American men have one of the lowest self esteem in the world while the females have one of the highest, it is no coincidence why the country has one of the highest rate of divorce in the world. Men are increasingly becoming feminine while females are subconsciously becoming more dominant and masculine. The way women were meant to be valued is no longer possible and most people no longer see the advantages of being married!

We can value our Nigerian heritage without a) comparing ourselves to another country/region and b) without putting another country/region down. I understood the point of her post just fine but I didn't agree with her means of proving her point so I let her know.

The term 'bastard' is derogatory and misogynistic. So a child who isn't claimed by a father means he or she is something different (and subpar)? But if the child is claimed by the father, then everything is all good? I know that Nigeria is a patriarchal society but how does that even make sense? It took two people to create the child, a child who did not ask to be brought into this world and did not ask to be called such a terrible name. If anything, the parent, mother or father, who decides not to acknowledge his or her child should be called a bastard. And you say that bastard is a word used by the English. Last time I checked, the English and Nigerians were not the same. We don't have to use that word just because the English do. We don't have to validate a word just because someone else decides to use it.

I've lived in both Nigeria and the United States and trust me, the things some Nigerians bemoan about America are the same things that happen in Nigeria: the cheating, the children born outside of marriage, the murders, stealing, corruption, lying, sex, the drugs. How are the morals of Nigeria any better than any other country's?

Marriage is no longer valued because women don't have value? This statement doesn't make sense to me and it's misogynistic.

Fixing Nigeria, for me, is going to come from getting rid of all those old, corrupt politicians who just want to steal. That's the first priority. Preserving our culture can come later. But we can agree to disagree on that.
There are lots of things wrong with your response but I'll only tackle a few. Firstly, you are forgetting Nigeria was colonized by the English, most of our societal values, we tend to have more in common with the English than the radical American culture. There are lots of terms in the English language that are negative but we still use them till date and nothing is going to change that. Bastard is a term used for a child brought into the world when the parents are not married, it has a negative undertone but so does pauper, wretched, orphan, cheap and some other English words. Next, I maintain my stance that marriage is no longer valued in the U.S because the women have lost their values. The laws and other factors highly favors the females over male in America and most of these women have become leaders instead of the men. They control everything, are highly opinionated and still wonder why men feel insecure around them undecided It's not misogynistic, just facts! Lastly, America is such a wonderful place, so many opportunities, so much intelligence but I would never forsake my heritage or culture. As a society our culture remains the single most important factor safeguarding our morality. The moment we lose it is when we start seeing homosexuality, outright disrespect of elders and parents, a lost society that keeps getting worse with each passing day. What we are dealing with in Nigeria right now is nothing compared to the nightmare brewing in America. Our problem in Nigeria is mainly cosmetic in nature. A simple & disciplined government will fix most of our problems but in America the worst is yet to come both economically and morally. So don't work yourself up, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Words like bastards and orphan are just descriptors, negative as they may be, they remain grammatically correct!

Do you even live in the West? You don't even know what you're talking about. First, children who are born out of wedlock are not bastards, they're children. Stop using such a degrading and archaic term. It's embarrassing. Second, I'm tired of people taking every opportunity to bash the west, a place some of them have never even stepped foot in, to hype up Nigeria and make themselves feel better about their standing in the world. Here's the truth about us: no one in the west cares about our "African values" (or if we're trying to live the European lifestyle) when our government can't even provide basic electricity, clean water, smooth roads, healthcare/medicine to its people.

They don't care about our "values" when our politicians openly steal while we punish the average Nigerian with jungle justice for stealing an apple. They don't care if a wife can make an enviable home when those same women are suffering from rape, domestic violence, and misogyny/sexism. They don't care if a man is the head of the household when a considerable number of them can't read, can't find employment, can't feed themselves or their families. They don't care that our GDP is the highest in Africa when more than half of our people live below the poverty line. They laugh at us. They think we're backwards and all they see is poor black people living in a poor country who are very eager to come to the west. Enough of this high horse b.s. talk because if we had such "superior values," we should have fixed our country by now.
I think you got it all wrong. The point deduced from her post is that we should value our African heritage. This is not about how the West feels about us but how we value ourselves. My parents have been in the U.S.A. for over 20 years and I've been living here for over 5 years, trust me when it comes to morals this country sucks! The women have no value because marriage is no longer valued. We all know Nigeria is screwed up but part of fixing it starts with ensuring we don't lose the little pride we have left. We must ensure that our heritage survives this age of sin. Also, children born out of wedlock and not claimed by a male are bastards, that's the term the English use for children without a father. It is not a nice word but it is a valid word. Be careful when criticizing someone for speaking their mind, we all have the right to express the way we feel.

The Nigerian Naira has seen its lowest value in history, trading at N238 to $1 (US Dollar).
The uncertainties, Zero Government policies, Increased Insecurity, a Stagnant Government at the center has put a pressure on the currency and Consumer confidence of the economy has dropped more than 36% in the last 3 weeks.

The Naira ended at N196.95 to the US dollar on May 29, 2015, implying that it has lost 21% of its value in 6 weeks.

President Muhammadu Buhari Promised to ensure that N1 will equal to one US Dollar if he assumes office, regrettably, the reverse is the case now.
Stop supplying false information, the N196.95 that you quoted for May 29 is the CBN rate, the black market rate at that time was N232, now the CBN rate is N198.9 and the black market rate is N238. Stop making people panic unnecessarily!

Glad to hear that, so you see it's all about interpretation. The problem of Boko Haram transcends beyond religion, it is a societal and ethnically bound problem. Educate the North, alleviate poverty and most of them will choose life over death! Look at the UAE, most of the citizens are happy because even though there are lots of restrictions based on religion, their government still cares for them by recognizing their basic rights to electricity, education and good infrastructure. I hope the Nigerian government tackles the root cause of violence in the country instead of cosmetic solution. It is my wish that one day all of Nigeria will be as peaceful as the olden days, Amen!

pls what makes a war holy? is it the fact that swords are used or bombs and grenades? holy war indeed! i am sure hitlers war was considered 'holy' by him too since the 'holiness' in the war is determine by the people attacking and not the people being attacked. same way the isis and boko boys are fighting a holy war dont u think? because they want a sharia state. there are several religions but only in islam is killing of humans(whether an enemy or an innocent) termed a 'holy' war. if boko boys term theirs holy war who are u to say the war is baseless when there are examples in their holy quran lol. while uthman dan fodio was on his holy war rubbish didnt he kill 'infidels? i am sorry to say that its only in islam( considering that there are over 100 religions) that a war where lives are lost is called 'holy'. which other religion use war as a means of getting converts ( i mean evangelism in islam)? the fact tht u are fighting against ur enemies doesnt make it holy ( personal opinion, cos according to the quran fighting against ur enemy is a holy war). i am sorry, but ur religion is... cos i cant just fathom why a holy book should call a war 'holy'. compare jesus who also had enemies but didnt go to a 'holy' war against them. infact he still died in their hands but rather than call his disciples to go on a holy war against his killers prayed for them on the cross. the problem is dat u people think we dont know much about ur religion. my dear every info is online now. we all know mohammed had to go to war against pple in mecca and medina before he was able to establish his religion (i mean evangelism na) there. ehen give me another good 'story'.
You are free to believe whatever you want to believe, if you spent as much time actually educating yourself on facts rather than looking for faults in Islam you would have figured out by now that holy war is just a term used to describe those fighting for a religious cause. The Romans did it during the Crusades so stop acting like it's just known to Islam. Like I said, God is more than capable of fighting for himself. Christianity or Islam, no one should ever force another to convert. It is in the Quran, there's no compulsion in religion. Those who believe they can live the lifestyle of the prophet and those that came before him are mistaken. Gone are the days of conquerors, we live in a civilized society, people have rights. All terrorists should be destroyed regardless of religion!

ok. while u are tryin to force urself to interprete islam in the light of peace ur boko boys are interpreting islam in the light of what the quran says and examples from the holy quran ( mohammed's). keep deceiving urself. while each of them will get '70 WIDE EYED VIRGINS' you will be there with nothing. not even one because u were busy lieing against the holy quran. just imagine 70 wide eyed virgins with each virgin their own maids all for one man. na u go talose oo.
Let them keep believing that crap, virgins don finish o, the few wey remain na for the elite grin grin grin On a serious note, you need to enlighten yourself. We have successful peaceful Muslims all over the world, my dad's family is a great example, what would you do when you are sick and the doctor treating you is a Muslim? Or you get a job and your boss is a Muslim? Life is all about give and take, this is what the Boko boys and other terrorists don't understand. They keep shouting they are fighting for God which is arrant nonsense! You can't fight for God, he's more than capable of fighting for himself!

But I thought Christianity doesn't support divorce? I thought it was for better or worse grin grin Women would say anything in court just to get a divorce, he was beating her all this while, how come her family didn't interfere? Anyways she probably did the right thing, a divorce is better than being crippled or killed by an angry spouse!

why do u like to act daft? why do u like to answer questions i didnt even ask just so that u can escape the obvious? ok the question is this again... could it be that General shekau and the other generals in ISIS, Alqaeda etc learnt from their master prophet Mohammed who u said was a general in the army and a warlord? (well i know u are going to construct another question and answer for urself. lets see how u'll answer this simple question)
The problem with ignorant people like you is that you try to mix apples with oranges instead of focusing mainly on facts. Ok let's accept the prophet was a general(Just like Moses and some other prophets), did he kill innocent people like ISIS and Shekau's boys are doing? The Quran supports Jihad, Jihad means holy war. You cannot fight Jihad against innocent defenseless people. ISIS and other terrorist might claim that they are fighting Jihad but most of the people they've killed are innocent! I've told you before Islam is not the problem, the problem is the interpretation, if you don't understand this then you are obviously not as smart as you think!

And I bet some gullible Nigerians would just eat this man's words and be like " facts! facts! facts!", not knowing he's just playing politics. When we deeply look at all these things it's easy to see that Boko Haram is desperate, right before a dictator falls, he tries all the tricks within his power, Boko Haram is no different, it's been bombings every single day, sooner or later they are bound to run out of weapons. They've started selling things to raise money, all the signs of an empire about to crumble. So Mr. Fani continue to play politics, Baba is busy working on the final blow, a blow so severe the likes of Boko Haram won't even see it coming!

Lazy journalism, if most people bothered to read the article they would realize what he was trying to say is that it takes much more than military strikes to finish Boko Haram. Violence alone will not solve the issue, the North needs to be enlightened, the whole economy needs to be better. We need electricity and so on....
